Ch 7 Tonks 4, Susan and Hannah 2

Tonks got out of bed a little later than she wanted to, but she was glad, that she got a good night's sleep out of it. As she lay there looking up at the ceiling the words of Amelia and her mother went through her mind. Morgana Le Fay might be related to Harry Potter. She had a little laugh but it did go on playing through her mind over and over again.

In one swoop she swung her legs over the side and stood. She was glad her room had its own bathroom so she didn't have to share with the others. There she made herself ready before she went to the kitchen for some breakfast. At entering the kitchen she only saw Sirius and the kids sitting around the table. It took her a moment but she realized that she now had the best opportunity to ask the things she wanted to ask, "Where is Molly" She asked as she filled up all of their teacups.

Sirius looked at her as did Hermione. "FI Vone Foppving".

"Ronald don't be a pig, swallow before you speak," Hermione told him as she turned back to Tonks. "She has gone shopping, she told us she was going to buy our school things for next year".

Tonks knew that that could take a while. She had been to Diagon Alley a couple of days ago. A lot of people might not believe that Voldemort was back. But most of them were going to the alley in the morning just to be safe. If he was back she knew he would not care if he attacked in the morning or at night. But if it made the people happy she would let them. It also meant she had more time to start asking the things she really wanted to know. "So Ron, I heard you were the real hero in our first year, you know with you saving Hermione and leading them through all the traps".

Ron looked at her like a deer caught in the headlights, Hermione looked at him with a lot of fire in her eyes. Those looks alone told her Susan and Hannah had been right on the money with the way they saw it. Ron had not been so honest when he had talked to the other students. "You didn't do all that much, did you? You have been the one who made me go to that bathroom. And if Harry hadn't pulled you along you would not have come to save me" Hermione snapped at him. "You might have dropped the log he carries as a bat on his head. But Harry was riding him like a bull while he was shoving his wand up his nose".

Tonks had a lot of questions answered with her first one. "Really what else did you all do that year? Don't tell me you three went past the three-headed dog and all those traps he was guarding". The way both of them turned white told her enough. Susan and Hannah had been right again when they told them about this. Not only what the three of them had done, but also how Ron had lied about his part. When she asked for the story both of them told it freely. She already knew half of it but hearing it from the side that Hermione told her told her even more than she wanted to know. Sirius and Remus were only listening with open mouths. It was unbelievable especially when they did it all for the Philosopher Stone.

Tonks sat there listening and thought that it had to be true. This story was so well told that it just couldn't be a lie. The part in the middle, when Harry had found the mirror of Erised, that part gave her a troubling feeling. She knew about that mirror and it only showed you what you desperately wanted to see. How she had seen Harry the last couple of days, told her it could not be something good. She did wonder what he could have seen all those years ago. "So, that was all. NO, I heard about big spiders and other beasts". Tonks said it as a way to lighten the mood. Ron turned white as Hermione looked at the floor. Tonks closed her eyes and shook her head. "Alright. I'm going to hate myself for asking it, but what did I miss".

And so started the story of their second year at Hogwarts. She knew Susan and Hannah would be telling the same story later that night. But she did wonder what part Ron would play in that one. The whole story was again too unbelievable to be a lie. Still, the Basilisk at the end was too much. Remus had pushed her down or she would have jumped up and rushed at Dumbledore. Again it ended with him fighting Voldemort. It was the same at the end of the first year and that made it three times. Four times if you count last year. He might not have defeated him, but he did stop him from returning at least two extra times.

"Well, at least in his third year they only had you that was after him so nothing much," Tonks said with a laugh, coughing after it stopped her laughing in a second. It was nice that Sirius and Remus joined in with the story, but it didn't make her feel any better. She did learn that Harry could produce a Patronus at the age of thirteen. The vaper he used for the three Dementors on the ground was amazing. The hundredth Dementors in the air was still far-fetched in her book. It did clear the part Severus played in it. Her hatred for that person only increased with every word she heard.

When she asked about their fourth year, it only became worse. For the most part, she already knew, but she had not been there. She had read it in the Quibler. She did read the Prophet but those had already been a bunch of lies from the day she started to read it. When they got to the end they too could not say what Harry went through. Draco was another person she could kill and even Ronald Weasley had done it for her. He did it in their second year, all during through their third year, and even in their fourth year. The twins had his back, but the others didn't. After all he had done for them. She still could not believe the way they were treating them now. If she ever got to talk to Harry she would make it clear he either talk to them and put them straight or find better friends.

Hermione and Ron left and went upstairs to their rooms. When they closed the door behind them she turned to the two men. Remus was still sitting there with his mouth hanging open. "I didn't know it was that bad. We had some trouble in school but that was our own fault" Sirius said.

Tonks rubbed the bridge of her nose. We are not talking about your days at Hogwarts. I just heard a story about things even Mad-Eye can't do. In Merlin's name, Harry Potter went through more than he did in his whole career".

"I know, I know. Wait how do you even know if what they said is true".

Tonks blushed a little and held up a little bottle. "Two drops of Veritaiserum, a drop in each cup of tea, and there they go".

"You didn't," Sirius said.

Tonks pulled her wand and pointed it at his nose. "Molly, Severus, or Albus are drugging all of us to follow them. And you are accusing me of a way to get the truth". Sirius held up his hands in surrender. Tonks stood in anger and said she had to take care of Harry. Before she went through the door she turned back and looked at them both. "Does any one of you two have any idea, how I can get Harry to trust me and talk to me".

Amelia had brought the girls home the night before. She had a little talk with the parents of, Hannah, and explained why she needed Hannah to stay for the rest of the week. She could not tell them what it was about but could say that it was because of Hogwarts stuff. They knew that if Amelia needed her, it was something bad or she would not have asked their daughter for help.

The rest of the night she had a hard time getting some sleep. The way the story was told, told her that Ron had placed himself on the spot of Harry. If it was true then Harry was a real hero, even more than they thought of him now. If the rumors were true then Harry had killed or prevented Voldemort a second time. It was just too hard to believe. So after telling the girls to behave for the rest of the day, she left the house and went to Andromeda for tea.

#*

Tonks appeared at the edge of the town and started to walk her normal route. Somewhere she would find Harry on the way. When she didn't she went to the house and saw Mad-Eye sitting against the wall. Two muggles walked past him so she knew he was under a Notice me not charm for Muggles. "Watcher Maddy, how is the merchandise".

His good eye rested on her while his magical eye rushed all over the house. "I don't know what happened but the big nutbag came home, complained about something and Harry got locked up in his room. He hasn't left the house since this morning". Tonks looked up at the house and started to wonder if that sort of thing happened more than they knew. "Don't get any strange ideas Tonks", Mad-Eye snapped at her. "This is just some kids' stuff and he got caught while he did it. It is not our place to interfere or to speak our minds about it".

Tonks heard the words and nodded at him. Her mind told her another thing but she did not say them out loud. "I'm here to take over from you so you can go home and rest". Mad-Eye only nodded at her as he got up and apparated away. Tonks stood there for a moment and kept on looking at the house and at the window. She could see the silhouette of Harry walking from left to right. If she saw it correctly he was holding his wand in his hand. She only hoped that he remembered that he could not do any magic outside of the school. The stories she had heard that morning were ringing in her ears. All of them had been hard to believe to start with and if it had not been for the Veritaiserum she would not have believed it at all. As she made herself comfortable on the ground against the wall she thought about later that night. She knew she had to tell her mum and her boss all about the morning she had. She also had to tell her boss about the Veritaiserum she had used on the kids. The only hope she had was that Amelia would not be too harsh on her, After all, it had been something she should not have done.

Over four hours she had been sitting there looking at how one Harry James Potter walked from left to right. Her mind was going all over the things she had heard that morning. But it only made her want to talk to Harry even more. Remus popped up next to her and looked up at the window, "He has another punishment I see".

"Tonks looked at him with big eyes, "Another, how many does he have and how long does it take".

Remus swallowed and it didn't give Tonks a better feeling. "The last time he had it, it had been before you joined the order".

Tonks looked at him and wanted to nod but her mind stopped her. "Hay, you are trying to throw me off, I want to know how long he had been locked up".

Remus looked at the ground and at everything around them except at Tonks. After a deep sigh, he gazed up at her, "The last time he was punished he stayed in there for about three days. He was only allowed to go out in the morning and at night to use the bathroom, other than that he did everything in that room".

Tonk's hair was slowly turning red, from anger as she looked at Remus. The thoughts that were going through her head didn't tell her anything good. She only had one real question, "Does Albus know about this, did any of you tell him, did he do anything about it". Remus nodded once, nodded twice, but shook his head for a third time. "If you tell him about this, I will kill you myself and I do not care what Sirius thinks about it. I think he is the one who placed him here and if I find out that it is true, I will kill him too. If you have ever looked in that boy's eyes you know he is beyond broken. Hell might be a much nicer place than where he is right now and I will go to the end for him. If any of you stand between me and him I will run over you all. Even the Godfather ritual will not save the ass of Sirius if he stands before me so you can tell your Lover to help me or get out of the way". Right after it, she Apparated away leaving a frightened Remus behind.

Tonks reappeared in front, of her parent's home and stopped before the door. She didn't hesitate to enter she just needed a couple of minutes before she could go in. Just as she was about to grab the doorclink the door was yanked open. "HI Tonksy, we are going to get Pizza tonight, Uncle Ted said we can look there what we want and decide for everyone while we are there". Tonks just looked at her father and smiled at Susan and Hannah, while they pulled her father along, clearly walking the wrong way.

Tonks smiled and walked inside to see her mother sitting at the kitchen table next to Amelia. She did not know if they had more news but she had enough to keep them busy for an hour.

Tonks sat down at the table and looked up at her boss. The first thing she had to do was to come clean, "Boss" she started "after yesterday, I did something today, to get another part of the story. I placed a drop of Veritaiserum in the drinks of Hermione and Ronald Weasley. I only did it, to get them to loosen up a bit so they would tell me their side. I did not do it to get a confession out of them, or anything like that".

Amelia waited for a moment and gave her a deep penetrating look. She kept on staring until Tonks was getting very uneasy with her. "Stop it, Amelia," Andromeda said, "You still got it and we all have done it before".

Amelia turned her look at Andromeda who only raised her eyebrow at her. "You are no fun, you know that. I'm here doing the thing I'm paid for, meaning I intimidate my workers and here you are ruining my fun". Andromeda just smirked at Amelia while Tonks looked at them with an open mouth. "Close your mouth Tonks, you are catching flies that way". The mouth of Tonks snapped close with a loud snap. "As your mother said, we have all done it. It is a way to find out which way we have to go. I do believe you have a better look at the story than Susan and Hannah had". Tonks only nodded as Amelia placed her little Pensieve on the table. "Give us first year, and the first year only, after it we will discuss it until the rest come back with our food".

Tonks placed the memory of Hermione and Ronald telling her about the first year into the bowl and together they dove in. After about twenty minutes they got out of it and looked at each other. "So let us make it a little clearer. The troll was in the castle and Harry fought it together with Ronald. It is also clear that Hermione was in that mess because of Ronald Weasley. They are kids so they might overreact to certain things" Andromeda said as she looked at Tonks, who had been just like that while she was young.

Amelia went on when Andromeda stopped, "I still do not like it, when kids fight Trolls because the Adults are not doing their job, is a bad thing. It had to be known that Hermione was not at the party and also that she had missed a couple of classes. It is the one thing the head of house has to look at. Still, if the story is true then I'm very curious at the memory of that fight". When she said it she could see Tonks turning pale, "What are you thinking about Tonks" she asked.

"As you have just seen, they not only, fought a Troll, they killed it. As you have seen it had only been the start of the year. I do wonder about the Duel between Harry and Draco Malfoy. If he did a real challenge, then it still might bite him in the but. Harry and the others went to the agreed spot so Magic will repay him someday".

"I didn't think about that, it is something we could use when the Pixy shit hits the fan if Lucius speaks up," Andromeda said while she wrote it down.

Tonks was looking at it and saw Amelia doing the same. "I'm more frustrated about the Mirror of Erised. I only read about it and also about all the people who went crazy sitting in front of it. If Harry had been sitting before it for almost two weeks all night long, he must have been missing something in his life or he would not have done it. I could hold myself back from asking but it was very hard" Tonks said with pain in her voice.

"Good thing you didn't Tonks," Amelia told her. Up until now you only asked them what happened and that is legal. If you started to ask questions then it would have become an interrogation and that is punishable by Law, so you have done right. If you ever get to Harry and he trusts you, you can ask him about it and that will be completely legal". Tonks gave her a slow nod of thanks.

"Mam, What about the dragon they saved from Hagrid" Tonks asked. "I know it is illegal to have them but Hagrid is different than we are. He would never do something that hurt the students but he does not know the difference between a kitty and a Siberian tiger".

Amelia gave a deep sigh. She knew what Tonks meant because she too had been to Hogwarts while Hagrid had been there. He was a gentle soul and didn't have a mean bone in his big body. He also missed the inside you wanted to have when you were dealing with other people. "Hagrid has nothing to worry about," she told her softly. "The blame for this is with Albus, He is the headmaster and he has to realize there had been a Dragon on the grounds. If I knew Albus, and I know him, he would have known about it and just let it play out. The Hogwarts wards would have told him about the Dragon but also about the rescue party that came to get it".

Tonks just sat there stunned at what she heard. Her boss had just told her that Albus was aware of everything that happened in and around the castle. The wards told him everything and there was no excuse whatsoever. "So everything that Harry went through, was and has been known by Albus because he was told by the wards of Hogwarts". The silence around the table told Tonks that what she said was right. "Does this mean that in the night they all went into the forbidden forest, for their punishment? Albus knew that there had been a dark wizard in the forest killing the unicorns. He also knew that it might have been Voldemort and he did nothing about it. At the end of the year, when they went through the trapdoor and passed all the tasks, He knew that Harry Potter saved the Philosopher's Stone".

After the last words, they all fell silent. Amelia was looking at the memory that was still in the pensive. She knew that they were about the next three years and Tonks already told them they were even worse than the first. It made her want to see the real memories but she also didn't want to see them because she was afraid of what she would see. "I think I have to write a letter to Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel to see if they got the stone back. According to Hermione, Harry saved it and handed it over to Albus. Now I do not know what Albus told him, but everything I know so far is that Albus isn't that honest, to begin with".

Ted walked back into the kitchen as Susan and Hannah had their hands full. "Hey Tonksy we got one of everything. We got fish, salami chees and all that good stuff".

Tonks smiled at them as she jumped in and took a slice. When she brought it to her mouth, she dropped it back on the plate a second later. "I just got a flashback of Ronald Weasley eating one of these things and I'm not sure if I can eat this thinking about that".

"Grosse," both girls said as they dropped the slices back on their plates too. "We have seen him eat from our table and it is bad, really gross" Hannah told her.

"Think of seeing it when you are next to him," Tonks said as she took the slice back in her hand. "Well, I have to eat. Let's hope I can keep it down", She held up the slice and took her first bite, "Damn that is good shit".

"TONKS" Both Amelia and Andromeda screamed, while the girls laughed at the look of innocence and the little bottom lip of Tonks sticking out.

#*

Almost an hour later they found themselves sitting in a circle in the middle of the living room. Tonks already knew about the second year but they had decided, to first hear that side of the two girls. "Alright girls, let's start at the beginning," Amelia asked them as she took a better position to see and hear it all.

Without any words, they both, looked at each other to see who would start. Susan gave a small nod and Hannah started. "The start of the year was fun. Somehow Harry Potter got to the castle with a flying car. They didn't get in real trouble because Harry had said it happened before the start of school. Minerva had liked that according to Ronald Weasley. Harry never said anything But Ronald told everybody how they flew over the clouds and next to the train. It was a wonder no one had seen them doing it".

As Hannah stopped, Susan went on, "Nothing happened after that but that all changed at Halloween". Susan stopped again and looked at Hannah, "The first year also started at Halloween, that must have been a coincidence don't you think". Hannah nodded at her words. "But in the way Ronald was talking, It was the same as in our first year. He was taking all the glory while Harry just sat back. She did not know why but it was clear that he was not the attention-seeking boy they all said he was".

"That night, we got our first petrification, at first we didn't know what it was but Draco told us that Harry had done it because he had seen him there". As Susan said it Amelia and Andromeda said the same thing in a whisper, Lucius. They were sure he had something to do with it, but they did not know what. "What followed was that all of us walked around Harry after it in a big arc" Susan went on.

When Susan said it she knew it was a wrong thing they had done. She looked at her aunty, and then at her aunt Andromeda. "We know it was wrong," Hannah told her quickly. "But at that time we just didn't know and thought that Draco had been right. When we got a dueling lesson from Lockhart something bad happened".

Amelia knew she had a lot more to check out. The further this story went the more things became clear and the more questions she got. "During that dueling lesson Draco had to fight Harry, Draco conjured a snake and Harry told it to attack Justin".

"No, Hannah," Susan told her, "At the time we thought he did but he didn't. When Hermione was Petrified we knew it wasn't him, he would never hurt his one friend".

"His one friend," Andromeda asked her, as she looked closely at the two girls. She doubted that the boy who lived only had one friend, his fame alone would have all of the kids asking for his attention.

"Yes, his one friend, He doesn't do anything to get the attention. He does not go around telling me he is the boy who lived, I even think he didn't know any of it when he started at Hogwarts. The way he looked said nothing about the money he had or the fame he had. No, the way he looked when he got to Hogwarts was like he didn't have a knut, to begin with. He looked more like someone who would be begging for money, not one who could spend it".

"Did he look like he knew that he was the next Lord Potter when he walked into Hogwarts?" Tonks asked while she already knew the answer to the question.

Hannah looked at Susan as both of them were just nodding and shaking their head at each other for a couple of seconds. "I think that he didn't even knew about magic," Hannah started, "The way he looked in our first charms class, was like he had never heard a spell before".

Amelia looked over at Tonks and knew that if what the girls said was right, she had an even bigger mountain to climb. Not only did she have to find out whatever she could about Harry Potter. She also had to tell him everything he needed to know about the world he was a big part of. For one she knew that the Potters were well off. Rich in their book but not rich enough to never work again. At least she didn't think he was that rich. "Let's go on then," Amelia said before they got too far off track.

"Well, Harry started talking to the snake and after it, we all thought he was the heir of Slytherin because he too could talk to snakes. When Justin got pethrefide we all knew it was true. Harry, hated him because Justing told him so, and Potter took revenge. When Hermione was Petrifide we realized he wasn't the heir but that was at the end of the year. We do not know what he fought but Harry went after the beast when it had taken a student. We heard it was Ginny Weasley and Harry saved her by killing it. Ronald said he had done it all but if he did then why was Harry in the infirmary and not Ronald".

While the Adults were thinking Hannah and Susan were still talking about the end of it and just went on the the third year they had. "We do not know the beast but Ronald said that it had been a Basilisk. That thing must have been a thousand years old, and it could not have been killed by Ronald Weasley. Harry might have been able to but we don't think so".

The words Basilisk and Harry might have not been sitting well with Amelia. If she only knew what Tonks would tell her the next morning she would not have asked, "Let's stop talking about Second year, what can you two tell us about, third year".

"Nothing much. We all knew Sirius black had escaped and that he was on the loose" Hannah started. "But having Dementors at the castle was weird. Especially when we heard Sirius black was spotted near Hogsmeade, or that he was after Harry. It was what we found out when he got into the castle on Halloween. He attacked the bed of Ronald Weasley. At first, we thought he was telling everybody to be in the spotlight again but Hermione told us he was right so, this time, we had to believe him".

Amelia wanted to ask but she saw Tonks shaking her head. Tonks had heard enough and wanted them to finish the third year so she could go and get to headquarters.

Susan went on as Hannah stopped, "When Sirius got into the castle we were all told to stay in the great hall. We all knew what he wanted so there was a lot of whispering to throw Harry out of the castle and into his hands". Susan saw the eyes of her aunty grow big. "We didn't, we didn't" Susan shouted, "We did learn our lesson in second year but we were sure he heard all of it". Amelia just gave her a sigh and a gesture to go on. Susan nodded at her, "In the months that passed it was all quiet. We did hear a lot about Sirius Black trying to get to Harry but we never saw anything. What we did know was that he wasn't allowed to go to Hogsmead for his own safety. We are sure that he learned the Patronus charm during the time we were in Hogsmeade. He knew it during the quidditch match when Draco was dressed up like a Dementor. Too bad he didn't know about it when Fudge brought a Dementor into the great hall".

"HE DID WHAT" three of the four Adults screamed as Tonks turned white with fear. Amelia rubbed the britch of her nose trying very hard to calm down. The first thing she wanted to do, was to rush to the ministry and arrest Fudge for what he had done. With her hand, she gestured to go on before she would lose it completely.

Hannah was sitting closer to Susan after the Adults had reacted that harshly. She knew, that they weren't mad at them but it did sound that way, "With the Dementor that was with Fudge, that was before Harry knew the spell, he also didn't know about the spell when the Dementor checked the train to Hogwarts" The adults turned white while the hair of Tonks turned mouse gray. "With Draco, he knew it, and he threw it at him while flying to him. If we weren't so afraid we all would have laughed about it. It was totally different when all of those Dementors came to a game and Harry fell from his broom". Hannah looked up at the faces and knew it was something Aunt Amelia hadn't known. She also knew that she didn't want to be at the ministry tomorrow when she walked in, but before Amelia could say a thing she went on. "IN the end we heard Ronald tell us how he and Harry went to fight Sirius. There they had learned he was innocent and defended him against Snape and the Dementors".

"Ronald Weasley was there," Tonks asked because she had heard another story.

"No, Tonks" Susan stated, "He told us he was there but we knew he was in the Infermary, so it had to be Hermione Granger and Harry. He also had to have been the one who drove away the Dementors because Albus was in the castle and could not have done it". Hannah looked at Susan and whispered something in her ear, Susan nodded and looked at her aunty. "I know it is hard to believe that Harry has done it to a hundred Dementors. But we are sure it had to be him. When all of those Dementors attacked Harry at the quidditch match, It took all of the professors to get them away. Harry did it alone because he can do it when he is mad. I know it will sound weird, but we can feel his magic when he walks past us".

Both Amelia and Andromeda didn't react to that statement but they both knew that Harry was something special and that Tonks had not imagined it. "I will take you young ladies home," Amelia told them. "We all know about fourth years so we will not need you tomorrow, you two can enjoy your holidays for the rest of the week. We will talk to you again because we might need your help at Hogwarts next year. It will also be the time we will tell you why we asked you all of these things".

This was it again for this time see you all in two weeks.
