Chapter 6 part 1. Language Of Flowers

'Delivery?'

'Yes, these villages still need supplies, and the load is too heavy for any normal person to handle, so that's where we come in. Just get it done and be back by tonight,' Yami tells the two.

Currently, they are flying to the capital.

'Woah, this list is long. We will be traveling around all day,' Luck says, flying on his broom.

'Really, that's awesome. We'll be getting a lot of fresh air,' Asta says as they approach HQ.

They land by the entrance and head to the door of the building.

'Fine, see you around,' a grumpy voice says, walking out of HQ. 'Uh, wait, I've seen that guy before,' Asta mutters, watching the guy with grey messy hair with purple lines in it walk away with displeasure. He puts his hands in the pockets of his black pants. His light blue hoodie is slightly covered in dirt.

'Oh, Asta, what a pleasant surprise,'

'Huh, oh, Selina from the Blue Rose Knights and uh Sol,' he waves at the girls as they approach. 'Wow, so I guess a man can remember stuff,' she scoffs.

'Sol and I are about to give our reports and deliver these letters from our squad leader, Charlotte. Are you here to give a report too?' Selena asks, adjusting her brown hair.

'Nope, we are here to get supplies for a few villages today. Seems there is still a lot of work to do,' Asta replies.

'You can say that again. We haven't had a break in ages,' Selena says, looking at the three standing there.

'Let us get inside already,' Sol impatiently states.

'Right,' Asta replies, and they head inside.

'Say, Selena, what are the roses for?' he asks, gesturing to the bouquet of white and blue roses in her hand.

'Oh, I bought these for... Mfh.' 'It's supposed to be a secret surprise,' Sol interrupts the girl with a hand over her mouth. Her purple eyes blink a few times as she realizes. 'I forgot, but it was only supposed to be a secret from her, right?' Selena asks.

'You think these men could keep their mouths shut? Cause I doubt,' Sol states, crossing her arms.

'But they won't even be meeting mfh,' 'I said no,' Sol pushes.

Asta, Luck, and Liebe share a look of confusion as the girls smile awkwardly.

'Say, Asta, who is she? Is she a new member of the Black Bulls?' Selena asks, changing the subject to escape Sol's wrath.

'Well, she is a new addition to the group, but I don't think she is a Black Bull. She's more like a new friend,' Asta explains. Selena leans forward to meet Millie at her eye level.

'But she will be working with you, which means she is a helping hand to the Magic Knights, so...' Selena says and plucks a rose out.

'Welcome to the team. I am Selena, and this here is Sol,' she says and extends a white rose to Millie, who takes a step back and gives a deep bow. 'My name is Millie Millenty, Ma'am. It is a pleasure to meet you, Selena and Sol,' she says. Selena blushes a little. ('She is too graceful.')

'Here, take it. It is a welcome gift. The Blue Rose Knights always appreciate gutsy girls, which you must be if you are hanging around Asta,' Selena says with a friendly smile to Millie, who looks at Asta. Asta holds no objections on his face, so she looks back at Selena and accepts. 'Thank you, Miss,' she replies.

'Aw, you are cute despite your being so plain,' Selena says and puts the white rose into Millie's hair.

'Thank you, Miss,' Millie replies.

Asta and the rest exchange pleasantries, and Luck and Asta get the supplies. The group heads out.

'These loads are quite heavy,' Luck says. 'Nah, this is nothing,' Asta says, and Millie looks back at the monstrosity he is carrying.

(How much weight can one guy even carry?) she thinks to herself, looking at the load she is carrying.

They travel around and deliver materials, and they land in a decent-sized village. Asta chats with the ones in charge to hand over the supplies, and they go over everything with the village chief.

Millie's eyes survey the village, where the market is filled with hustle and bustle, as everyone has something to work on.

'You look like you might be interested, little one,' she hears an elderly voice say. She walks over to a stand where the lady is selling a bunch of different flowers.

'What has you asking, Ma'am?'

The lady points to her head, and Millie remembers the rose in her hair. 'Oh,' she mutters and looks at the abundance of white roses.

'Oh, you like white roses? You're in luck. Normally, I can't manage to grow many of them, but during this summer, all of the white roses I've planted grew. About 3 weeks ago, they sprang into full bloom. Almost like it had to happen when it happened somehow,' the lady elaborates.

'Truly? Eh, Ma'am?' she asks, surprised and confused.

'Yes, truly,' she replies.

(When I think about it, the first day I came here, there were white roses next to that bench close to that research center near Toko village. But there is a farm near there, almost dedicated to white roses, so I thought little of it...) Millie looks at the plants with wonder.

'Are the white ones your favorite?' the lady asks. 'They are, but more for what they represent,' she softly elaborates.

'You must have a romantic side if you know the language of flowers,' the lady says with a smile. And Millie slightly blushes. 'I-I believe so,' she utters and touches her brooch.

Swosh.

She hears and sees Asta heading out. 'I must go, Ma'am. It was a pleasure to meet you,' she says, respectfully bowing, and she brings out her wings and flies after the boys.

They travel to HQ and out to different villages during a good portion of the day.

They head back to Headquarters and get a few bags. 'Okay, next on the list is...' Luck says with a bright smile, as Asta leans over.

'Hage, heck yeah! I get to say hi to everyone,' he says with increasing excitement.

'Hage? Where the demon bones are, Master?' Millie asks.

'Yep, oh, that's right. I guess I haven't told you much about it, huh?' he says with a bright smile.

'I grew up there with the rest of the church orphans. They are a bunch of rascals,' he adds as they are heading out.

During their travel, he talks about the village he grew up in and the rest of the kids.

They land by the town center and chat with the town chief as they hand over the supplies.

'Right, and now to meet with the gang,' he says with excitement and runs off, leaving Millie and Luck behind.

'Haha, he is really excited,' Luck laughs and runs after the swordsman.

'Recca! Recca!'

'Huh, what is the yelling about?' Luck wonders out loud. 'Uuuh?' he sees Asta run ahead, then a second later.

'Sister Lilly! Please marry me!' he hears Asta loudly yell.

'Water creation magic holy fist of Love!' Lilly screams as water forms into a huge fist with a golden cross within, punching Asta to the ground.

'Ahh, hehe, it's been far too long since I felt this,' he says with a slight laugh and looks up at the nun with a simple nun attire. Her dark blue hair slightly shows underneath her nun's cap, and a cross hangs around her neck.

'Sorry, Asta. My magic just slipped out,' she apologizes softly and she takes her grimoire and puts it back into her satchel.

'Asta? Asta is back,' a little boy with blond hair and a green sweater exclaims. 'Hi, Asta,' a girl with black hair and a purple dress loudly states.

'Hi, you two. What's up?' he asks, getting up, and they hug him before he stands up straight.

'We are looking for Recca. We haven't seen her all day,' Lilly says with clear concern.

'What, seriously?' he says and looks at Liebe and back at the gang.

'Yes, Father Orsi and Nach are searching on the other far end of the village, and a bunch of villagers are helping to look for her as well,' she elaborates. 'It isn't like her to go missing like this.'

'You are right. We will help look too,' he says. 'But it's getting so late. Don't you have Magic Knight duty to attend to?' she asks. 'It'll be fine, right, Luck?' he asks. 'Of course, we can look at the outskirts of town. You can take the southwest, and I can cover the northeast,' he replies.
