Disclaimer: The character Sebastian in this fanfic is based on a character from Black Clover. However, I did not find any names for him, so I made one.
I really liked his and Sol Marron's backstory, and I wished they would bring him more to the forefront ever since I saw him in episode 106. It is clear to see that he is trying hard to make up for it, which made me like his character a lot.
here are the episodes and timestamps that I speak of.

Season 2, Chapter 5, Part 1.
First Time
It is an early morning in the Black Bulls' hideout, and Haze is snoozing soundly in his bed when CRASH!
He shoots up to a sit. "What was that?" he panics and looks around him.
"Wait, where am I? Oh, that is right, I am in the Black Bulls' hideout," he rubs his eyes, gets up, and puts on his clothes. He looks at the robe on the table by the window and picks it up, reluctantly putting it on.
"I better see what the crash was about, I guess," he mutters to himself and heads out of his room, looking to each side of him. "Did the corridors change?" he wonders and begins to walk. Eventually, he finds his way to the main hall, and as he opens the door, he ducks and looks behind him.
"A fireball?" he ponders and looks back into the main hall. "I will teach you a lesson, you little brat!" Magna yells and fires fireballs around after Luck. "Ha ha, I would like to see that happening," Luck laughs.
"Seriously, who has this much energy this early in the morning?" Haze ducks away from fire and lightning and makes his way into the dining hall, where he sees the rest engrossed in their breakfast.
He walks over to the table, grabs a plate, and plops down on the bench by the table. He grabs himself some food and begins to eat.
"So you finally decided to join us, did you sleep well?" Asta asks with a friendly smile, and Haze looks at him. "He has no reason to be friendly with me, so why is he?" Haze thinks.
"I suppose so," he says lazily, a little bit annoyed.
The door behind them busts open, and everyone turns towards the dining hall entrance. "Good morning, Captain Yami," Vanessa smiles, and the rest tell him good morning as well.
"Yeah, yeah, good morning, everyone," he tells them all, and they have breakfast. Soon, he gives everyone today's missions, and he turns to Haze. "And Haze, you are supposed to go here, and you will meet up with two others. Here are the details, now get moving," Yami orders, handing Haze the note. "Right," he replies. (This is seriously far south; flying to the other end of the country will take forever, and it will definitely mess with my plan, but I suppose I have no choice,) he thinks to himself, walking out with the rest of the Black Bulls, and he sees Millie walk from her usual tree, and she transforms and jumps on Asta's shoulder.
"Well, see you guys tonight," Asta says with a big smile. "Of course, now let us knock these missions out of the park," Magna says. "Yeah!" the rest yell in unison before heading out on their respective traveling equipments.
Haze lets out a sigh and mounts his broom and flies off.
He travels for quite a few hours, and his mind wanders. "Why did it have to turn out this way?"
Then memories of yesterday come forth to when he first met Yami in the capital.
Flashback:
He was standing on the balcony of the Magic Knight Conference Tower, overlooking the dimly lit streets as people were heading home after a long day.
The door opened behind him, so he turned towards it, and out came Yami, and he closed the door behind him.
"So you are the so-called troublemaker, huh?" Yami asks, and the teen looks away, "Seriously," he says.
"Is there a problem?" Yami asks.
"Tsk, whatever," he utters annoyed. "After not getting picked, of course, they set me up with you guys!" he spat and crossed his arms, looking back at the view of the capital.
Yami senses for his Ki to suss him out.
"Tell me one thing, kid," Yami says, and the kid is still looks out, ignoring Yami, who then lets out a huge stream of mana. "Hey, I was talking to you, so you better listen up," he says with a cold glare.
Haze gulps nervously but keeps his gaze at the town, pretending not to be bothered. Then Yami's hand grips his head, and Haze is picked up by the head and is forced to look at Yami.
"Listen here, pipsqueak, when a captain is talking to you, you are to listen, got it!?" he asks, tightening his grip. "OW. Ow, got it, fine!" he squeals in pain.
"So will you pay attention when I talk to you?" Yami asks.
"Yes, just let me go already, you brute," he spits.
"Name-calling does not help you, and don't forget if it weren't for King Julius asking me to, then I wouldn't be reconsidering letting you in," Yami says, tightening his grip further.
"Fine, sir, please let me go, ow, ow. This seriously hurts," he says.
"Na'ah, you will have to do better than that, boy," he states.
"You have my attention, Captain Yami," he says.
"Captain Yami what?"
"Captain Yami, sir," the boy squeals once again.
"Good," he says and lets go, and Haze rubs his temples and looks up at Yami.
"Now where was I? Right, so tell me, do you even have a desire to join the Magic Knights in the first place?" Yami asks.
"What, of course, I do. Why do you think I am here?" he says.
"Really, 'cause I get the sense you really want to do something else," Yami says and looks at the kid.
"I have to join," he says and looks away in anger and concern. "You have to? If you want to be a Magic Knight this badly, then fine, but you will have to show me more than cheap tricks and a grumpy attitude. And you can start by explaining yourself."
"The reason?" the kid asks. "Yes, because if you don't have a good reason or isn't joining on your own accord, then the Magic Knights is no place for you, especially the Black Bulls, got it?!" Yami tells him.
"Fine, I will tell you," he says and gives Yami the explanation.
"I see. You may not get it, but with those viewpoints and that goal, the Bulls are actually the perfect place for you. It is rare for nobility to even care about someone like that, and with that, you may help many people. So keep at it, kid," he says. He is taken aback by Yami's attitude towards this. "Now come along, and you will meet the rest of the squad," Yami orders and walks inside.
Haze hesitates, watching the captain leave, but his eyes are filled with determination, and he runs to catch up to Yami and walks a step behind.
End flashback.
(There is the sea, so I should take a left here) Haze flies for about one more hour, and he lands by a small village close to the ocean. He looks around. (Where are the other Magic Knights? Don't tell me that I am here early) he thinks to himself and sits down on a rock with a good view of the village. He waits around for about 30 minutes, and he sees someone with a green robe land in the village. He walks over to the kid with light brown hair.
The guy adjusts his round glasses and points his light brown eyes at Haze. "Oh, you must be the one that I am supposed to work with. The name is Sebastian," he says and extends his hand to Haze, who takes it.
"Yeah, the name is Haze," he greets, looking at the praying mantis robe. Underneath the kid wears a white sweater with sleeves that reach to his elbow, and around his waist is a black belt holding his grimoire at the back. He wears brown pants and black shoes.
"Nice to meet you. Now we just have to wait for-"
"Hi, guys. I suppose you're the ones that I am supposed to be joining," a female voice says, and they both turn around. Haze looks at a Blue-Rose Knights robe.
''No way, Lydia, why did my first mission have to involve you?" Haze says, annoyed.
"What? Don't be embarrassed just because I got picked and you didn't in the Colosseum. And how did you wiggle your way into the Magic Knights anyways? Don't tell me your dad pulled a few strings for you."
"Of course not, I would never ask that ass for any favors. Besides, how I got in is none of your business," Haze defends, gritting his teeth.
"Whatever, we are going to have to work together, so drop the attitude," she pushes, and Sebastian looks between the two.
(I am glad this is just a patrol mission; otherwise, their hostility towards each other may pose a problem.)
"Anyway, let us get going; we have a job to do," Sebastian tells them.
"Whatever," Haze says, putting his hands in his pockets.
"The name is Sebastian, by the way," he says, extending his hand to the girl. "Oh, my name is Lydia. Nice to meet you," she replies with a friendly smile.
They walk about in mostly silence, making sure that everything is going smoothly in the village.
"I am a bit confused," Lydia utters.
"Confused by what?" Sebastian asks.
"If there is so much tension by the borders, then why send us here this far south?" Lydia asks.
"Well, they probably want to give people the sense that despite the tension, they still have nothing to worry about. Besides, if there is no patrolling, then crimes are more than likely to rise if they think the Magic Knights are having trouble. Especially now that resources are low, people grow desperate and begin to resort to crime," Sebastian explains.
"I see," Lydia utters and looks at people working, either in their stalls selling produce or making fishnets. "Here is today's haul of fish," one says.
"I guess there is a lot of fishing happening since the village is so close to the sea," Lydia utters.
"Nicely observed, genius."
"What is up with you, Mr. Grumpy? Sad you have no building to bust into?"
"What was that, Miss Priss?" he snaps back.
"You heard me; your family's reputation has been going downhill and fast these last couple of years, and everyone knows it."
"As if I care about that crap. Besides, your family hasn't exactly done too well either," he snaps back.
"What are you living under a rock or something? Our family is growing in wealth after establishing that last deal, and our magic, of course, has more people fascinated, which only increases our popularity and influence," she responds and flicks a lock of hair behind her shoulder.
"Now over to your family, it grew quite a lot for many years, almost like you knew what was going to happen and what best to do, but now everyone can tell it was just luck." Her comments make Haze grit his teeth.
"Either that or we were sabotaged," Haze retorts.
"By whom? I mean honestly, your sister flies around from man to man, and you busting in where you do not belong like some delinquent, it makes it clear that your family lacks class and even manners," she tells him.
Haze grits his teeth, "How about you shove those words up your-"
"Hey, take it easy you two; we are still on a mission," Sebastian interjects.
"Shut it, four eyes."
"Hey, he is our superior Magic Knight; you can't say that."
"Well, it looks like I just did, bitch!" he retorts, and Lydia and Sebastian gape in shock.
"I have had enough of you losers; I will patrol the other side of the village. I can't stand the smell of you," Haze says and gets on his broom and leaves them behind.
"Hey, no one said you could leave, asshole," Lydia yells, and Sebastian sighs.
"It is fine, Lydia. He clearly needs to cool off."
"But still, he should not be going off like that," Lydia utters.
"I know, and I will report it in, and Yami can take care of straightening up his subordinates."
"I guess you are right," she replies, and they start to walk around town again.
"I guess if we are going to keep working together, we should probably get to know each other a little bit better," Lydia tells him.
"That is a good idea. So, um, I..." he utters.
"I suppose we can start by telling each other why we wanted to become Magic Knights," Lydia proposes.
"Well, I..." Sebastian utters.
"I can start if you want to. I wanted to become a Magic Knight so my family will be proud of me, since I don't seem to be too good at business or working in any of the shops," she says with slight embarrassment.
"Well, that is a good reason..." Sebastian replies, and Lydia looks at him.
"Um, so what made you want to join?" she asks.
"Well, it is a bit personal. I want to become a Magic Knight so that I can undo a wrong."
"Undo a wrong?"
"Yes, a long time ago, I told someone that men are supposed to do the protecting, but when our village was attacked by bandits, I failed to do so."
"How old were you?" Lydia asks.
''About 8,'' Sebastian responds.
''Well, you didn't have your grimoire yet, so I can see that you may not have had the power to do much,'' Lydia comforts.
''That is not it. I was too scared to even try, and instead, I abandoned the one I promised to protect. I failed, and so now I want to make it up to her, and to do that, I have to become as strong as possible,'' he explains.
''I see. Well, you seem determined, so I am sure you will make it,'' she tells him.
''Thank you,'' he replies and looks around.
''Uh, what is wrong?'' Lydia asks.
''Do you feel that?''
''Huh? Feel what?''
''I sense magic. It feels like someone is fighting... it is coming from there,'' he says, and Sebastian heads into the woods close to the sea.
''Uh, okay,'' Lydia follows along.
She runs after him, and her eyes widen for a second. ''You are right; I feel someone's mana signatures, and uh... one of them disappeared,'' she says.
''I know, and the other is fading,'' he replies as they run through the woods.
They stop as they see a man on the ground.
''Oh no,'' Lydia utters as Sebastian runs over and crouches down by the body.
''He is badly wounded. Hi, sir, you will be okay; the Magic Knights are here,'' Sebastian tells the man as he seems to be going in and out of consciousness.
''Lydia, do you have a healing spell?'' But she is frozen by the blood.
''Lydia!'' he yells, and she shakes her head.
''Shoot, I will have to resort to normal first aid then,'' he says and goes into his satchel while he keeps pressure on the wound.
''Lydia, I will need your help here,'' he tells her.
''I-'' she stutters, still worried.
''Lydia, wake up; this is no time to freeze,'' he tells her.
''Right, w-what do you need?'' she asks, shaken. ''Hold the man a little bit up; I need to keep pressure on the wound while I bandage the wound, otherwise, he will bleed out,'' Sebastian tells her, and she lifts the man's thorax a little bit up.
''Careful, we don't want to make things worse,'' he tells her.
''R-right, sorry,'' she stutters, and Sebastian bandages the man's stomach.
''There, now we need to get him to the village so he can get better treatment,'' Sebastian tells her, and she nods. ''Right, sir,'' she replies, and they carry the man between them.
''He is so heavy,'' she utters as they walk into the village.
''Ramsund? Ramsund!'' a lady yells and runs up to them.
''What happened?'' the lady asks.
''We found him in the woods, and we believe he was attacked by someone, but we do not know who did it,'' Sebastian explains as more villagers come up.
''We stopped the bleeding, but he needs more help. Does the village have a healer?'' Sebastian asks.
''Well, yes, Cyle, but I am unsure if his magic will be enough,'' the lady replies.
''Well, he will have to at least try, or this man is a goner,'' Sebastian explains.
''Of course he lives this way,'' one of the villagers says.
''I will contact Ramsund's wife,'' one of the ladies says and heads off.
''Thank you,'' Sebastian replies. Moments later, they get to Cyle's house, and a villager knocks on the door, and it opens.
''Yes, oh no, Ramsund,'' he says, and moments later, they are inside, and Ramsund is being taken care of by Cyle.
''Who could have done something this terrible?'' one of them asks.
''Not sure, but you can rest easy, we will figure out who did this, and we will make them pay for this,'' Sebastian says.
''Be sure that you do; right now, we are trusting you, Magic Knight,'' a lady says.
''Of course,'' he reassures, and they walk out, and they begin to walk.
''That was intense. Now how do we find whoever did this?'' she asks.
''Well, I do not know, but we can go back to where we found him and try to look for clues is a good start,'' Sebastian tells her.
''That is a good idea,'' she tells him, and they walk in silence until they get to the crime scene, and they start to look around.
Her eyes dart over to him a few times. ''I- I am sorry for being useless back there,'' she tells him.
''Huh? When were you useless?''
''Well, instead of helping you right away, I froze,'' she tells him.
''Hey, it is all right. This is clearly your first time dealing with this sort of thing. Besides, if you weren't there, I am not sure if I could have stopped the bleeding as quickly as I did, so thank you,'' he tells her.
''Yeah, but I am a Magic Knight now; I shouldn't have to be told to snap out of my frozen state. I thought I could handle this sort of thing, but apparently I can't,'' she tells him.
''Hey, lacking experience is no reason to give in. You are on missions so you can learn to deal with this sort of thing and to improve. So, let us get better together, so we can help more people,'' he tells her.
''You are right.''
''It seems like you are out of it properly now. Good. Let us keep looking for clues,'' he tells her.
''I wonder who could do something this horrible?'' she utters and continues to help look.
