Castaway Island
Chapter 15: Bonds
-DAY 40-
Jaune woke up to Yang using him as a body pillow again, not that he minded. He found her presence a nice reassuring feeling to wake up to. He looked her over, her long hair was getting even longer as was his own he knew. He had started to tie it back and at this rate they would have to risk cutting it.
'There is the abandoned salon in the hotel,' He thought to himself, and thanks to his life with his sisters he had a lot of experiences in things you wouldn't expect a young boy to know. Mainly due to his sisters playing dress up with him. He started wondering about his family, were they told he was lost at sea yet? Where they declared missing? How long would it be before they were declared dead? With he CCT network offline it could still take time for messages to reach most of this family. Saphron was living close by where they went missing, and she might get the information first.
He hated the thought of putting his family through all this.
'How are we supposed to get off this island?' he wondered. They had supplies and food, but the canned food was limited and while there was enough bottled water here to last for a few years, eventually that would go as would the water in the pipes. It was only the water pressure that kept things going and they were trying to keep it going for as long as possible.
They still fished and scavenged for food, the trees they replanted helped and the garden was coming along. In two months, the potatoes, carrots and tomatoes would be ready to harvest, in one month the berries would be ready before that.
Yang gave a small moan as she moved slightly.
He smiled as his hand found the small of her back and started to gently stroke it making her sigh. He caressed her flesh feeling the bare skin. Her t-shirt had rolled up enough to expose her back as he lightly caressed it. That was something else he thought of, sure their friends-with-benefits arrangement was nice but after that day on the roof he felt something changed between them. It wasn't until he had nearly lost her that he realized just how much he needed her.
Not just to survive but just her.
Yang had somehow become someone very important to him, he wasn't sure when it happened, but it had. Then of course there was the sex, after they started it was becoming one of their most enjoyable shared activities. Well, there were those times they couldn't because it had been that time of the month for her and…yeah, they weren't too keen on that when her body was going through it. Or the fact it had been pretty bad cramps that one day and had been laid up in bed for most of it.
That hot water bottle came in real handy that day like she had said it would.
Besides that, he found that it was just a normal behavior now, not that he wasn't complaining. He would never get tired of Yang's body or the way her eyes would look at him when she was in the mood. Or just moments like this with them together enjoying the shared warmth of each other, he felt like he would just lay in bed all day with her like this.
Well, he would lay here all day with her but unfortunately his bladder had other ideas. Gently he slipped out of bed and kissed her head as she pulled a pillow to cuddle with. He smiled as he went to the bathroom.
Yang moaned as the sound of a shower running registered as she slowly woke up. Yawning she looked to see Jaune wasn't in bed but hearing the shower she figured he was there. Turning on her back she stretched out feeling some aches and pains from last night, but they were the good kind. The kind that made her think of joining him in the shower, but she was just too comfortable.
The warm sun was hitting her with the sounds of the island birds the smell of the ocean coming in off the breeze with some mixed in island plant smells. She could get used to waking up like this.
Her smile dropped a bit as she realized she might have to.
Nearly forty days on this island and they were no closer to getting off. She sighed as her mind came up with possibilities. So far, the short-range CB Radio hadn't picked up anything or any signal returned. Then there was the fact that no plane or ship have ever been in sight, but it was a big island, if they passed by on say the opposite side they would never had known or seen it.
What if they never got off here?
What were they going to do then? She had been thinking long and hard about it. She and Jaune could be stuck here for years if not the rest of their lives. They had thought of trying to make a raft but the currents around the island looked strong and she remembered how they got pulled in on the raft after the crash. Said raft was long since lost air and was useless to float now.
They would need a motorized propeller or something to get them far enough away to use a sail or paddle, which would be a very physically intense challenge, maybe if they tried with the outgoing tide it might work better? It was hard to say, maybe they could find a way to test it out someway throw something that floated and see how far it got before being pulled back in.
Maybe make a little boat with a sail on it to see if it could get out of the tidal forces.
For now, they were just stuck, and she thought about what that meant. What would happen to her family, their friends and then she thought about her and Jaune. That last thought gave her a lot of different emotions. Sure, she had started to really like him, even when they started having sex, she was enjoying it and his company. That day he saved her life however things changed in that moment it was like something became clear for her.
She at some point had started to have feelings for Jaune and they were only getting stronger. Was it love? Maybe? She wasn't sure but if things kept on this way, she could see it happening. What then? Settling down and raise a family and hope one day someone would rescue them?
'Oh yeah there's a sight.' She thought as the image of a ship pulling in and there they were. Older with Jaune maybe having a beard, a little daughter holding their hands and a toddler boy in her arms all of them wearing clothing that was patched together and all of them blonde and tanned looking like some kind of native islanders from a forgotten time.
She blinked as the image stayed with her.
"Huh…the kids might look kind of nice honestly," she muttered. Truth was while she did want to go out and have adventures, she knew one day she wanted to settle down and have a family one day. Growing up she had plenty of happy memories of her dad and sister and Uncle Qrow when he visited. Family was always an important part to her, it was why when she learned about Raven and how she left them, why it hurt so much.
'It's not like the condoms will last forever,' she sighed knowing they would either have to be extremely careful one day or cut back and safe them for as long as possible.
As she lay there she began to wonder about life if they stayed. It would be a struggle and if anything serious happened it could be deadly. She nearly died not too long ago but did Jaune's semblance also work on sickness? They were lucky that they didn't get an infection that hadn't killed them or some disease that would kill them so far.
The sound of the shower turning off caught her attention as Jaune came out not long after drying off. She smiled at the sight of him only in a towel wrapped around his waist his hair a bit damp.
"Oh, sorry did I wake you?" He asked.
"Not really," she slipped out of the bed and kissed him on the cheek heading to the shower. "I'll freshen up."
"Breakfast will be ready when you get out," he told her.
She smiled at him as she walked in although she had to admit that he sounded like a house husband or something. She stripped and got into the shower as her mind started to think back again on what exactly they were now? Sure, the friends with benefits things were great but lately she wasn't sure if that's all they were.
Today's quest they decided at breakfast was to search the second floor of the hotel to make sure they found any supplies they might need left by the guests. They had mostly skipped that floor so there was a lot of rooms to look for anything they could use. They had a small pile of items in their Store House by now, but it couldn't hurt to be sure.
So, they loaded up the cart with their gear (which now they put in a first aid kit they got from the medical center) along with their packs, weapons and anything else they might need. They hadn't been back to the hotel since that day they went on the roof and the building had this ominous feeling to it now as they looked at it.
Silently they made their way inside and to the stairwell, they didn't get fat as they had to pause at one section. There on the flat ground was the very brown stains left by Yang's blood. They could see the outline of where her body had been, seen a few bloody footprints and handprints.
Yang stared long and hard at the place she nearly had died feeling a cold sensation inside of her. She felt her hand starting to shake again but soon felt Jaune's warm hand in hers. She couldn't take her eyes off of the stains as she squeezed his hand in return drawing strength from it.
Jaune was holding her hand for his own benefit as well as hers, that day seeing her going pale and bleeding out had been horrible. He could still feel the sensation of her warm blood on his hands as he tried to stop the bleeding how close to death she had looked. He never wanted to see anything like that again, to see someone he cared for dying, to lose someone else again.
Silently they helped each other to move on, to walk over the stains and up the stairs. They didn't speak until they were safely in the hallway on the second floor.
"Let's be sure we get everything in one go," Yang spoke a bit softly. "I never want to come up here again."
"Same," Jaune stated as he looked down at their hands. "So…do you want to keep holding hands or…?"
Yang hadn't even realized she had been doing it feeling a bit embarrassed. "Oh right, well I can let go if you want."
Jaune thought about it and saw her expression as she looked ahead. He knew that she most likely wasn't feeling well after stepping over her dried blood back there. "Nothing wrong with holding hands."
She silently gave him a side look before a small grateful smile crossed her lips as she gave him a thankful squeeze as they started to search the rooms. One by one they went through the second floor and about half of them were empty. The empty rooms had nothing that they couldn't get anywhere else, so they just left them. A couple of rooms were just horrible, mainly from meals that had been left out and never cleaned up. They took whatever they could find into the hallway and closed the door to look through the stuff they collected.
Clothing was put into two piles, those that might fit and those that didn't. They used one of the suitcases to put all the clothing that would fit. One room someone apparently went to the toilet and hadn't flushed, it had been disgusting.
"What is wrong with some people," Yang gasped for air in the hallway.
"I don't know but that's just wrong." Jaune was trying not to throw up from the experience.
Then they found one room that instantly stood out. Inside they found a bunch of large black cases. Their curiosity had them opening them up.
"Speakers?" Jaune asked seeing them.
"Oh, hell yeah!" Yang pulled out a large rectangular piece of equipment with lots of sliders, knobs and buttons on it. "Jaune, I think a DJ was here."
"Oh, now this all makes sense," he looked back at the two speakers he saw in their boxes. The hotel must have hired a DJ for some kind of event before everything went to hell on the island. He looked over at her. "You want to use that?"
"Pffft, no." She set it aside looking for something. "But depending on the DJ they might have…this!" she pulled out a tablet and tried to turn it on and frowned. "Of course, out of power, well we can charge this back at the house with the generator."
Jaune looked through the suitcase he found. There was some clothing, what looked like some kind of foam head of what looked like an 8 ball? "Was this his gimmick or something?" He asked her holding it up so she could see it.
"Most likely, I remember one that had this giant bear head once," She didn't get into how she knew about that. To this day only Ruby knew what happened that night at that club and even then, she hadn't told her everything that had gone down or that said DJ had pulled out a gun and started shooting at her at one point.
Jaune threw it aside and found a small music player. "Hey, I found something else, looks like an older M-Player."
"Oh, thank you god," She rushed over and grabbed the small digital music player. "I've been missing music, I don't even care if it's bad music, I just want to hear it again. Did you see the charging cable?"
"Give me a second," He went back to looking and pulled it out. "I think this is it."
"Oh my god I could kiss you, in fact," she knelt down to his level and took his face in her hands giving him a deep and very grateful kiss. "You Jaune Arc just might have save me from death by boredom."
"Glad to help," he felt warm all over from that kiss as they continued looking. They even found an old CD player with a collection of music. Yang figured the guy was either sampling them or he was a collector of vintage music. They even found one of those little travelling speakers all of which Yang said they had to take with them. She wanted to listen to some music again if only so she could feel a bit more of having a normal life.
Gathering it all up in a case they continued on, the DJ room turned out to be the most exciting one as the rest were kind of boring by comparison.
They found a set of double doors at the end of the hallway and when they opened it, they could see why. It was by far the largest room with a huge messy bed that had large posts on the corners with thing somewhat transparent drapes. There was a fire with an animal skin mat in front and lots of heart designs everywhere.
"I think we just found the honeymoon suit," Yang looked around.
"Yeah, seems like it," Jaune looked around at the entrance.
Yang suddenly got a wicked smile as she placed a hand on his shoulder. "Think fast." She jumped up as he on instinct caught her in his arms carrying her bridal style now.
"Yang?"
"Hey, a girl wants to be carried over the threshold at least once in her life," Yang smiled at him. "Besides I doubt I'll ever get this opportunity, knowing my luck, my honeymoon wouldn't be to a tropical vacation paradise so I'm taking advantage."
Jaune mentally shrugged. "Okay then." He stepped in carrying her over the threshold. "So now what?"
"Well, we could make use of the bed?" Yang said in a seductive tone that sent a shiver down his spine and blood starting to pump a bit lower. "But first let's look around."
"Right, looking, yeah good idea," he said flushed a bit as he gently putting her down.
They started looking through the room, there was a small fridge with some wine and champaign in it but the bottles having been kept at room temperature they were pretty sure they weren't any good anymore. A quick inspection showed the liquid was not what it was supposed to look like, so they put it back.
Yang went to the bathroom as Jaune found some clothing and suitcases in the large walk-in closet.
"Holy crap!" Yang's voice got his attention from the bathroom.
"What is it?" Jaune asked quickly making his way there and stopped and looked over her shoulder. The bathroom was large as well of course but that was mainly due to the huge tub that was in the middle of it.
"Is this a tub or a swimming pool?" Jaune asked slightly joking. Okay maybe it was a bit of an exaggeration, but it was the largest tub he had ever seen.
"I know right?" Yang walked around the light red tub. "We could shower for a week to fill this up. I bet you could fit a few people in it."
"I guess it's supposed to be roomy?" He scratched the back of his head.
Yang shrugged as a stray thought struck her. "Huh…I just realized this room most likely has had the most sex in it and we saw that room with all the sex toys in it earlier."
"Please don't remind me," Jaune groaned.
She smiled at him. "Awww, it's cute you get embarrassed like that. Given all the things we've been doing I would think you were more used to it."
"I'm used to doing things with you," Jaune told her. Looking around the room he thought of something else. "This room also saw a lot of couples starting their lives out together too."
Yang was quiet a moment as she thought about it. "Yeah…you ever think about that stuff?"
"What stuff?"
"Marriage, a future, kids and the whole thing or do you just kind of thing it will happen when it happens?" She asked him with a shrug sitting on the tub.
Jaune thought about it. "I mean…kind of? I come from a big family, so I figured one day when I find the right girl I'll settle down and start one. I'm already an uncle now with my sister having a kid." Jaune's face fell as he hadn't even gotten to really meet his nephew. He met him once just before Beacon when his sister and her wife showed up to show off the new baby. He'd seen pictures and stuff, but it had been a while.
Thinking of family made the ache in his chest about not seeing them grow again.
"What about you?" He asked her hoping to get the topic off him.
"Yeah, I mean eventually you know?" Yang honestly told him. "I figured after school I would go out on all kinds of adventures, then maybe find someone and settle down a bit. My family wasn't very big, but we loved each other a lot and to me family is very important."
She sighed worried about her little sister, her dad and uncle and how things must be for them. She wasn't even sure if her dad knew she was even missing by this point.
"So, you want the whole picket fence thing too?" Jaune half-joked.
Yang shrugged. "Maybe not exactly that, maybe live on Patch again close to dad so we can visit at any time would be nice. Take up a job there teaching if I'm not still a huntress. It kind of depends on how things are going you know? Also depends on the kind of person I want to marry and stuff, but growing up on Patch I think it's a nice place to settle down in."
It was true since the island of Patch was close to Vale but also was a nice quiet area. Being an island, the Grimm population was more manageable for the most part. It was a nice little place to grow up in and have fun and do all the stupid kid things she remembered doing. She had all kinds of fun memories of camping in the summer, the festivals they had, the nice beaches. She was starting to feel a bit homesick now remembering it all.
"Well for what it's worth I think you'd made a great mom." Jaune stated breaking her out of her thoughts.
"You think so?" Yang asked him, truth was she was kind of scared of the idea of being a mom. Given the one that raised her, Summer had been like a super mom that had been perfect. Living up to that ideal was kind of hard. Then there was her biological mother, that was something that left an emotional scar inside of her for years after learning about her and how she just abandoned them.
Jaune smiled encouragingly at her. "Of course, I mean, I've seen how you are with Ruby. Sometimes you act like a cross between a big sister and a mom with her and you have a big heart. I've seen how you care about everyone important to you."
Yang felt a warmth touch her deep inside at his words. She stood up starting to walk to the main room as she said. "Thanks, for what it's worth, I think you'd make for a good dad one day."
"I hope so," he chuckled.
Yang looked him over and smirked. "Trust me if my dad showed me one thing it's what a great dad is like and you kind of remind me him sometimes."
"Oh?"
"Yeah, he's a big dork too." She laughed as he slumped at first from that but a second later, he just signed and just laughed it off.
After they were done with the second floor, they packed up everything they would need and left. It meant having to walk over that blood-stained area again though. Both were quiet as they did so, the grim reminder of that day was a sobering experience. Yang always felt like she was walking over her grave each time they had to cross the stains and she hated the feeling. She was glad when they were finally out of the hotel.
Getting back home they started going through everything they had, they started the generator so the electronics could be charged up as they went to work sorting out clothing or any other items. They found an Atlas Army Knife in one of the suitcases, why someone would bring that on holiday they could only guess at. The little white device had the usual little tools and knives on it with a corkscrew and a little pair of scissors in it. There were some swimsuits, underwear, clothing that they put into their own piles and sorted them out.
They found a watch that apparently kept time through kinetic motion, so you just had to keep moving it around instead of winding it up. Time didn't really mean much to them at the moment, but it could be handy to have around just in case they needed to time the travel distance it took to get to certain areas. They placed it next to the bed so they knew where it would be.
Some extra shoes that fit them were placed with the others, given they had no idea how long they would be here having ample footwear would be nice. A few other sets of books were put on the shelf with the others they found. Yang grinned at a few books that looked to be the kind Blake would read. Still, it was nice some people brought reading material for their vacation since it allowed them to read something when they wanted to.
The music player just needed some charging as it had no password, so they let it play as it charged. They hooked up the little travel speaker to it and soon the house was filled with music. It was so nice to have actual music playing that both just sat together listening to it for a bit. Neither really cared about the songs but it was just so nice to have some kind of entertainment after over a month with just books and boardgames in their little home.
By dinner time the tablet was finished charging and Yang frowned at the password. She tried everything she could think of, typing in Music, bands that were found in the DJ's stuff, then random stuff she might think a DJ would put in like Boobs, IamTheMan, ClubTime. After two hours of trying, she was about to give up when she thought about the head piece Jaune had found with everything.
She tried Eight Ball, BlackBall, Blackballed, Magic8Ballz. Unbelievably the last one worked.
"Got it!" Yang sprang up looking at everything on it.
"You got in?" Jaune was cleaning finishing with folding the laundry since it was his turn.
"I got in," Yang grinned. "There's a lot of video files on this."
Looking through them all she found a selection of TV and films, most likely not legally downloaded, more music files, some that seemed to be works in progress to a file labeled as My Music Samples. There were video files that read 'Hotel Gig' labeled a few years ago. Opening it up she found most likely saved scroll videos of his time at the hotel.
Opening one as Jaune sat down looking at it, it showed the main dining room turned into a dance floor with lights and sounds as music played.
"Damn look at everyone," Yang commented.
"Looks like this had been a popular spot at one time." He said looking at all the people partying in the video.
They looked through a few as she found what looked like someone in their twenties shooting a selfie video.
"Man, I can't believe I scored this gig, babes all around, sun, beaches and I got my own room out of the deal. This is going to be the best next three months. Plus, I think the check in lady at the counter was checking me out, I'm going to see if I can tap that later."
Yang rolled her eyes as she clicked a few more random files. They guessed the fil they were currently in was like a Vlog to post later. There was one just labeled as 'Spicy' and they were unsure what that meant. Yang opened it up and played a random file that had no title just the date/time stamp of the file on it.
That's when the both of them froze at the sigh on the screen.
"Oh, damn he filmed himself fucking." Yang was surprised to find it.
"Uh…I don't think we should be watching this," Jaune felt a little weird about watching someone else's actual sex tape. "This was a private thing."
Yang shrugged and turned it off, he kind of had a point. This wasn't something that was filmed and then sent out to the internet to be seen by the world but a private file, at least she hoped it was the guy seemed like the type that might actually post his own fuck films. Although it did give her an idea.
"You think we could make our own with this?" She wondered as there was a camera in the tablet.
"Our own what-wait you mean that?" He was shocked by the idea she put out.
"Why not? Could be fun, plus it's not like anyone else will watch it and I'm kind of curious how we look while doing it if I'm honest." Yang shrugged. "It's not like anyone will know."
Those little words again, the same ones she used on the beach that day and he knew that she was true. Unless they told someone no one would know about anything they did here.
"I'm starting to wonder if you secretly have a bunch of kinks, I'm only now getting aware of," Jaune finally said.
Yang thought about it and laughed. "Honestly? I'm not sure, I think this place is starting to get to me a little. I mean we're the only ones here, right? We can pretty much do whatever we want without judgement or anyone telling us not to do things. We could break all the windows, spay paint the building, or just do donuts with the cart in that big open area in front of the hotel."
Jaune had to admit that being the only ones here, the 'society norms' that they were used to didn't really seem to apply. Technically they had trespassed, stole and broke things but since it was all abandoned, there was no real harm done.
"Or say having a nude day at the beach?" He blushed remembering that day.
Yang grinned and nodded. "Yeah, you got to admit it was a little thrilling. I kept thinking someone might see us even though we're the only two here."
"That thought crossed my mind too," he nodded scratching the back of his head. "You think this is just us trying to deal with the stress of everything? Like it's just coming out in weird ways?"
"Maybe, I guess?" Yang shrugged she had no knowledge in psychology to back anything up. "I can see it though, why, you think when we get off the island things will change back to how they were?"
That was a thought that had been going through his mind a lot lately. Looking down at his hands he wanted to voice his thoughts on it. "I don't know, truth is…I like what we have. I like being with you like this, this thing between us, I know you said friends with benefits but I'm starting to wonder, what if there's more here?"
Yang was silent as she but down the tablet. "Yeah, I get it. Truth is, I've kind of been feeling like there's more here too. I don't know if it's because we're here alone, or because you literally saved my life or just a bunch of other things that add up to one big thing, but I'll admit, I like having you in my life."
She felt a hand o hers as she looked into his emotional blue eyes. "I like you in my life too Yang."
Yang actually felt herself blush slightly forming on her face from the way he said it. She could feel these words came from the heart and her own seemed to respond in kind to it.
"So…"
"Yeah…so…"
Neither spoke as they locked eyes as they felt this strange force between them only grow stronger. Both slowly leaned in as they gently kissed, lips slowly experimenting as soon the kisses deepened. This wasn't a passionate kiss or a chaste one, it was a deep one with feelings mixed in as the two started to become more than just friends that night as a true spark of something more was triggered between them.
Neither of them knew where this was leading them but both of them were curious as to where this path was going to take them.
