Everything was going well. Until my dad created a homicidal robot.
"Why?" I asked while everyone argue with my father. "Why?! WHY WOULD YOU CREATE SUCH A MONSTER?!" I screamed.
Everyone stopped and gave me their attention.
"How is that protection?" I asked.
"You didn't see what I saw." Dad answered.
"You just gave Ultron a mechanical body. You wrote him to have world peace. But his version of peace means bloodshed. You brought another war on earth."
"I saved earth once, I'll do it again." He spat. "Have you forgotten I almost died saving New York?"
"You're no better than Loki." I shook my head. "I should have stayed in Norway."
I walked out and everyone continued on.
I sat on my bed fidgeting with an old piece of tech from my first build.
"Are you okay?"
Steve was leaning against my doorway, arms crossed.
"Why is it when things are going perfectly. Everything falls apart." I snapped the the piece in half. "Case and point." I tossed the broken pieces onto the floor and laid down on my bed.
"I know just the thing." I head Steve say. "Don't go anywhere."
I just laid on my bed with my eyes closed. Debating on what I want to do. I was at a cross roads of taking a shower or going for a run. Going for a run would mean leaving the room which would mean walking past the lab which would probably turn into talking to my dad. Arguing with my dad more likely. A shower seems simpler.
"This usually cheers you up." Steve had come back.
He was holding some snacks and a movie. He was smiling, proud of himself.
I sat up, saying, "I think I'll just take a shower. I'm not feeling a movie."
His smile quickly faded. "He tries you know. A lot of what he does, he does for you." He walked into the room and sat on my bed.
"I can take care of myself. Have been since before you defrosted." A small grin escaped my lips.
He took my hand and ran his fingers over the scars on my wrist. "Its because of this. When you just disappeared, he didn't sleep. He refused to sleep until he found you. He thought someone had taken you away." He rested his hand on my on my wrist. "I remember what actually happened the night before you left."
"Steve, I-"
"I confronted Tony about it a few weeks ago." I looked into his eyes, emotionless. "You still loved him, even after New York?"
"He didn't have a choice."
"And you believe that?"
"You believed Bucky was still good after all the bad. Why couldn't Loki be the same?"
Steve looked down before looking into my eyes once more.
"I care about you." He rested a hand against my neck. "I'm not going to speak ill of the dead. I'm sorry. If that's what you believed happened, that's all that matters." He pulled me into a kiss.
We all went to Sokovia, defeated Ultron, barely. I got knocked around so much I don't remember most of it. Hulk grabbed me and took on the quinjet.
We landed on a planet called Sakaar. Hulk becomes a champion while I did't have such luck.
-Two Years Later-
"Xes, another cup would you dear?" The Grandmaster held out his cup by the edge of his fingers.
I took the cup and filled it with wine and handed it back. Doesn't matter how long I've been doing this - I hated it. However this is better than where I was…
"Found a wander, Grandmaster." One of his loyalist peaked through the door. "Claims he can make it worth your while." He grinned.
"This should be interesting." The Grandmaster straightens himself up. "Bring him in." He handed me his cup.
I took the cup and turned my back, to place the cup and jug back on the small table.
"You must be the Grandmaster," I perked at the familiar voice, still looking at the wall.
"I'm Loki and I think I'd be of great company to further your success."
I cocked my head, smiling. He's alive.
Then I dropped my smile. How is he alive?
A small electrical surge built in my neck.
"Xes! The drinks!" He yelled.
"Of course," I poured an extra cup.
I grabbed the two cups and turned around, and avoided Loki's gaze. I handed The Grandmaster his cup first. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me close, to speak in my ear.
"Don't embarrass me." He threatened quietly.
"I'm sorry Grandmaster." I looked in his eyes. "It won't happen again."
"Give my guest his drink." He relaxed back into his chair.
I kept my eyes to the ground as I walked to him. Handed him his cup. "Please let me know if you desire more." His hand touched mine as he took the cup and we looked at each other. "It's be a pleasure to serve you."
He gave a soft smile. "Thank you." He said.
