Jane entered Chora's Den, a nightclub on the Citadel. She approached a man who fit the description of a C-Sec officer named Harkin. She was told by her Captain, Anderson, to see if he had information on where to find a turian named Garrus Vakarian.

"Well, don't you look sweet, princess? That soldier getup suits your body real nice. Here to give me a dance?" The middle-aged man with a receding hairline leered at her.

"Maybe later." Jane replied, trying to hide her disgust. This isn't the first time I've had to deal with men like him. Knocking him out won't get me the information I need. I survived the raid on Mindoir when I was 16 and the Thresher Maw attack on Akuze, I can handle this sleaze. She thought to herself while taking a subtle step back from him.

"Suit yourself. If I knew they had marines that look like you, I'd have joined the Alliance instead of C-Sec." Harkin laughed as he took a drink out of his cup.

"Our loss." Jane replied, sarcastically. "I've heard you could possibly tell me where I can find a turian named Garrus Vakarian."

"Ha! That hot head, heard he was chasing around leads trying to take down Saren." Harkin remarked. "Wait, did Anderson send you? Still trying to get his revenge?"

"Revenge? What are you talking about?" Jane raised her brow at him.

"20 years ago, he was up to be the first human Spectre. Screwed up his mission and blamed Saren, saying he set him up. You should ask him about it." Harkin told her.

"Perhaps I will later. Now about Garrus?" She asked him. She wanted to get his location so she could get away from Harkin and his leering.

"Last I heard he went searching for Dr. Michel in the medical wards. Should be able to find him there." He told her.

"Thanks." Jane muttered as she turned to walk away.

"Come back after. I would sure love that dance, princess!" She heard Harkin call out which made her shudder in disgust.

"Why did you let him get away with that, Commander?" Ashley, a young woman with long black hair and brown eyes asked her.

"I've dealt with men like him before. Sometimes you just need to get what you need from them and leave as soon as possible. I'm surprised he didn't hit on you as well." Jane chuckled.

"Ew." Ashley said in disgust as they made their way to the medical ward.

They entered the medical ward to see a group of men who looked like thugs surrounding a young woman in a medical outfit, with one of them holding a gun to her head.

"Whoa. Let's take it easy there, pal." Jane said as she tried to get him to lower his gun. "Whatever the problem, we can talk it-" Jane was interrupted with the sound of a gunshot as she saw the man with the gun get a small hole in his head and he dropped to the ground. The commotion caused the other men to start shooting at them. Shit, Jane thought as she pulled out her pistol and returned fire as she ducked behind a counter. She took a glance in the direction the first bullet came from and saw a turian with a visor over his left eye holding a sniper rifle behind another counter. What the hell does that turian think he's doing, she thought as she shot the last remaining thug. She then went to go check on the doctor and after seeing she was okay, she turned her attention to the turian. Jane then started yelling at the turian about putting a civilian doctor at risk with his stunt, to which he told her that it worked, and the doctor was alive as he walked over to them. She started to ask him if he was serious but when she got a closer look at him, she realized it was Garrus Vakarian. She told him she was trying to find physical evidence about Saren killing Nihlus and working with geth, a species of synthetic AI whose bodies resembled quarians with a singular light replacing where their faces would be, during the attack on Eden Prime. She told Garrus she was trying to get the Council to revoke Saren's Spectre status so he could be brought to justice. She seemed to get his attention as he readily agreed to help and shook her hand. It was then she got a better look at him as he looked her in the eyes. She noticed the blue pattern painted across his face and his piercing blue eyes, the visor he wore impressed her as she wondered where she could get one. She tore her gaze away when she heard someone speak up.

"A quarian came in a few days ago, injured. She wouldn't say what happened but said she wanted to trade valuable information to the Shadow Broker about a turian Spectre in exchange for a safe place to stay." The doctor spoke up. "She was sent to Fist, an agent of his. Rumor is he got stupid and decided to double cross the Broker and is in league with Saren. He set up a trap for the quarian instead and a krogan, Urdnot Wrex, was sent to kill him."

Well, this sounds promising. We need to find that quarian before it's too late, Jane thought to herself as she turned to Ashley. She told her to go check with Anderson and see if he's got any more information for them, then motioned to Garrus and Kaidan to go with her. Kaidan was a fellow marine of medium build with short black hair and light brown eyes. She noticed him give Garrus a weird look but decided to ignore it. Garrus questioned her about working with a krogan, saying they were brutes and the type to shoot first and ask questions later. Jane made a snarky remark about how they should get along fine as she walked away. I do have to admit that was a good shot, but I'm not telling him that, she smirked to herself.

Near Chora's Den, Jane saw a krogan in red armor and a red headplate with a facial scar that looked like it came from a set of claws and recognized him as the same krogan that was threatening a bouncer earlier when she went to go talk to Harkin. She approached him and asked if he was Urdnot Wrex, he teased her about coming up to a krogan so casually. She told him she didn't scare easily and told him to answer her question. He told her he was, but he was busy and told her to move along.

"Look, I heard you're looking for Fist and he has information about someone that I need. Which is why I'm asking for your help." Jane said, sternly as she stood in front of him, blocking his path.

"Heh. I'd normally shoot someone who got in my way but you're a spunky little human, so I suppose I could let you tag along with me." Wrex chuckled at her.

"Great." Jane smiled, then turned her attention to Kaidan. "Kaidan, can you go join Ashley and Anderson?"

"You can't be serious, Commander. You want me to leave you with this turian and krogan? We don't even know them." He tried protesting.

"I'll be fine, Kaidan. I'm a big girl and can take of myself." She reassured him. He gave her a worried look before leaving. Jane, Garrus, and Wrex then made their way inside Chora's Den where they were immediately shot at.

"Well, it's not a party unless people are shooting at me, apparently." Jane laughed as she ducked behind a table Wrex had knocked over. She took out her sniper and started scoping out targets. Garrus was right next her with his sniper. This is actually kind of nice being around a fellow sniper, but is he counting how many targets each of us hit? Jane thought to herself before grabbing her pistol and moving closer to shoot a man who was trying to dodge behind a nearby counter. When all the men were down, they made their way towards the back room where Fist's office was. She spotted two men with guns who looked scared, blocking their way.

"Now boys, is Fist really worth losing your lives for?" Jane asked them. The men shook their heads, dropped their guns, and ran off.

"Why'd you do that, human? Would've been quicker to just shoot." Wrex spoke, sounding annoyed.

"They weren't a threat to us, and I have a name. It's Jane Shepard." She told him.

"It was the right choice. They obviously weren't trained. Fist probably expected them to give their lives for him, like a coward." Garrus agreed with her.

"Thanks, Garrus." Jane smiled at him. Maybe he isn't just another trigger happy turian. And he doesn't seem to have prejudice against us humans, which is a nice change. Maybe I should talk to him and get to know him better after this Saren business is over, Jane thought to herself as they walked into the office. Jane greeted the man sitting at the desk and pointed her pistol at him. Fist questioned what they wanted after killing his men. She told him she knew he set up a quarian with evidence against Saren and asked where the ambush was. Fist nervously chuckled and tried telling them they killed people for useless data. Jane called his bluff and said he wouldn't set up an ambush if the data was useless. She warned him she wasn't going to ask him again as Wrex and Garrus also raised their weapons toward him. He admitted that the ambush was taking place in an alley near the club and told them they wouldn't make it in time. Just then, Jane saw a hole go through his chest and realized Wrex had shot him. He said he never left a job unfinished. She voiced her disdain towards him shooting Fist, to which he asked if she was done interrogating him. She agreed she was and tried protesting about him shooting Fist, but he interrupted her by saying they better go before they find a dead quarian and made a joke saying too bad it wasn't a turian as he walked away.

"Ugh!" Jane groaned in frustrated as she holstered her gun and ran to follow him to the ambush site.

They arrived in the alley to find a quarian with intricate purple patterned cloths wrapped around her armor surrounded by thugs. Jane yelled at her to get down as she shot the man closest to the quarian. The three of them made short work of the rest of the men and Jane went to help the quarian up and asked if she was okay. The quarian thanked her, but questioned why they would help a quarian. Jane told her she wouldn't leave someone in need, and she heard she had evidence against Saren. She said she got a recording of Saren talking about the attack from a geth she had come across. She then introduced herself as Tali'Zorah nar Rayya. Finally, some good news Jane thought as she grabbed Tali's hand and led her towards the Council Tower, telling her she was going with them to show the Council.

Jane and Tali stood in the audience chamber before the Council with Garrus and Wrex behind them. The council listened to the recording and told Jane the information was troubling, and they agreed to revoke Saren's Spectre status. They then told her they were making her a Spectre in order to give her the resources needed to bring Saren in. Jane thanked them and stood for the ceremony as they officially made her a Spectre. I can't believe I'm the first human Spectre. This is such an honor, Jane thought to herself. She looked behind her and saw Garrus smiling. Huh, he actually kind of has a nice smile, Jane thought as she turned her attention back to the Council.

"Also, Commander." The asari Councilor spoke up. "I recognized the female voice as Matriarch Benezia. She has a daughter, Liara T'Soni, who is currently researching Prothean ruins on Therum."

"Thank you, Madam Councilor. I will start there." Jane spoke up. She noticed the turian Councilor looked annoyed. Huh, must sting seeing me get this honor. Serves you right for being a jerk the first time we met, Jane smiled to herself.

She told Wrex, Garrus, and Tali to come along because they had a turian to catch. Garrus voiced surprise at her inviting them to join her, to which she replied she couldn't have gotten this far without them with a smile. A turian, quarian, and krogan on a ship full of human marines. This should be fun, she chuckled to herself.
