Weiss stood in the center of the arena, waiting to be transported into the simulation of the hunting grounds where she would face the monster opponent Katana. "Alright, Weiss. I hope you're ready, because just like Ren with the volcano, you'll have to deal with the harsh environment of a snowy mountain. That kind of cold will really take a toll on your stamina." Katana warned her.
"I've lived in Atlas almost my whole life. I know how to handle the cold." Weiss assured her.
"Well, lucky we're leaving you stuff to handle it." Tekko said.
"Good luck, Weiss! Make team RWBY proud!" Ruby cheered.
"You got this, Weiss-cream!" Yang told her.
"I know you'll do incredibly, Weiss." Penny said encouragingly.
"Do your best, Weiss. I am certain you will succeed." Winter told her.
"I will do team RWBY and the Schnee family name proud." Weiss declared.
"Alright, then. Here we go." Katana declared as she activated sent Weiss into the simulations.
Soon enough, Weiss appeared in a camp in a forest with a trail leading downhill. "How scenic." She noted, before feeling the air around her. "It is quite cool here. I suppose that makes sense. But if it's cold here, the top of the mountain must be at least as frigid as Atlas." She told herself.
"Look in the chest." Razara advised her.
The heiress shrugged and checked the chest, finding a map and several small bottles of a warm liquid. "Hot chocolate? Very nice." Weiss said, drinking one of the beverages happily.
"Aww, no fair! Now I want some!" Ruby whined.
Weiss deadpanned at this. "You can summon any kind of food or drink you want, Ruby." RWBY's W reminded her.
"Oh, yeah. Thanks, bestie!" Ruby cheered.
"Alright, Weiss. The monster your looking for will be either at the peak of the mountain, or the two areas closest to it. I took the liberty of marking the easiest route to find the target." Katana advised.
Looking at the map, Weiss did see a pretty clear trail to follow. "Very well, then. I'll trust your judgement. Weiss declared, leaving the camp and heading to the next zone. She passed by a trio of Popos, even gently rubbing one's muzzle, before moving to the next area. This area turned out to be the foot of a large cliff set on top a hill, where a group of Anteka were grazing. Weiss wisely chose to ignore these creatures, knowing the were a bit more iffy around people thanks to Sai's Banbaro lore. She then looked around, however, seeing no cave entryways or paths up the mountain. "I thought you said this was the easiest route. I don't see anywhere that could get me up the mountain." She said.
"Oh! Weiss, I noticed some vines that lead straight up the cliffside. If you climb them, you will surely reach the top in a matter of minutes." Penny said helpfully.
Weiss looked around and saw the vines, reaching them and grabbing them, giving them a solid tug to make sure they were sturdy. Once she confirmed that they wouldn't give out under her weight, she started to climb, then stopped with a suspicious look. "You all only have an overhead view of me, right?" She asked.
"Yes, don't worry, ice princess. None of us to get an upskirt from you." Katana assured her.
"I do!" Tekko declared, only for a smack and squeal noise to ring out, meaning Katana most likely gave her daughter a swat on the rear.
"As long as we're clear on that." Weiss said, starting to climb her way up. It was admittedly a bit difficult and required a significantly larger amount of upper body and arm strength than she was usually used to using, but she still managed to rather quickly reach the top. Once there, she couldn't help but turn around and look. "That must be at least 100 feet! And I climbed it like nothing." She boasted. However, this pride in herself was quickly shattered when something slammed into her back, sending her right back off the cliff and crashing down... Thankfully into a large snowbank that cushioned her fall. She burst out from the snow pile, sputtering angrily. "What on Earth did that?!" She demanded. She looked up the cliff and saw a Bullfango looking back down at her, before grunting and going back where it came from.
Winter could be heard sighing at this. "Honestly, Weiss. I thought I taught your the importance of watching your surroundings. That was lesson number one!" She chastised her little sister.
"Yes, Winter." Weiss grumbled as she got up. "I'll be bringing back some bacon when I return!" She declared, using her glyphs to fly back up the side of the cliff at insane speeds. She then reached the top and rushed in at the Bullfango, quickly stunning it with a few stabs from Myrtenaster, before summoning the Armor Gigas' sword arm and having it slash the beast, bringing it down, at which point it vanished. The heiress smiled at the completion of her revenge, before checking the map again. "Perfect. It should be just through this pass." She said, heading through the small pass in the mountain ahead of her, soon reaching a cliff top, a destroyed base camp just to her right. She headed towards the middle of the area and spotted her target, a Bulldrome. "Really?! I just defeated a Bullfango! How much more difficult can a Bulldrome be? It's just a bigger version of the same thing!" She complained.
"And that smaller one knocked your butt off a cliff. So just imagine what the bigger one can do." Blake said cheekily.
"I was distracted!" Weiss huffed.
"Never underestimate your opponent, Miss Schnee. We never saw a lore on the Bulldrome. There may be more to it than we're aware." Ozpin said sagely.
"Okay, I get it!" Weiss complained, then sighed. "Well, at least this will be a quick bout." She said, creating a pair of glyphs, which each shot out a chunk of ice at the Bulldrome to get its attention. It struck the beast in the side, staggering it a it, but it recovered and turned towards the direction from which it was assaulted, spotting Weiss and quickly scuffing its front foot, before barreling towards her at great speeds.
Background Music: "Solemn Hour" by Within Temptation
The Bulldrome charged forward at the heiress. Seeing as it didn't have the armor on its body that the Boarbatusk she fought in Port's class, she twirled out of the way and slashed its side, but to her surprise, it's fur was a lot thicker and coarse than she expected, providing both cushion for the Bulldrome and resistance to her blade, making would likely have been a killing blow into a superficial wound. This shocked Weiss, but she then decided to attempt a simple stab. However, the Bulldrome shook its head back and forth violently, before it swung its body to the right, slamming into Weiss and knocking her back, sending her tumbling back into the cliff wall. Weiss groaned at this and looked up, gasping as the Bulldrome scuffed its hoof again and charged forward, Weiss barely rolling out of the way and the Bulldrome instead crashed into the wall.
Weiss then used some dust to turn Myrtenaster's blade red, half-twirling and slashing the monster's side and dealing some decent damage. She went in for more attacks, but Bulldrome turned towards her and thrust itself forward, knocking the heiress onto her butt. It then raised into its hindlegs, attempting to crash down on her with a body slam, but she rolled out of the way, running to a safe distance. "Alright. So you're a bit tougher than your average Boarbatusk. But you're still no match for me!" Weiss declared, creating more glyphs and preparing to pepper the beast with another barrage of ice projectiles, but the Great Boar simply began to dig into the ground, completely vanishing before the rocks hit it. "W-what?! It can dig underground! You're kidding me!" Weiss cried out, looking around, trying to figure out where the creature would come from, only for it to burst out of the ground from underneath her and thrusting itself forward to knock Weiss down again, before raising up on its hindlegs and body slamming her.
Weiss cried out and stabbed the beast in the gut with Myrtenaster, causing it to relent a bit, before she managed to force it back with a glyph. "Whoa! These guys are way tougher than they look! And they look pretty tough to start with!" Ruby cried out.
"Well, they have been known to stand up to Rathalos. That's why most monsters don't screw with them, even though they could still make a meal out of them." Katana explained.
"And you didn't think to mention that sooner?!" Weiss demanded, before looking back at the beast before her.
She went in for another attack as the creature dug up and launched a sizeable rock at her , but she used a glyph to reflect it, reaching the beast and jabbing at it with her rapier several times, before jumping back as it violently thrashed about once again. The beast dug underground once again, but this time Weiss was prepared, summoning the Armor Gigas. Once the Bulldrome popped its head out of the ground behind Weiss, it was greeted with the sight of the Armor Gigas' fist flying forward and slamming into its face to knock it back. As the creature got up once again, struggling to catch its breath from the injuries, Weiss pulled out the final stop and used her time dilation to increase her speed tenfold, zipping all around the creature and catching it with stabs or slashes, before she finally knocked it to its side, the Great Boar struggling a bit, before finally passing out.
End Music
It was a very close fight, but in the end, Weiss managed to defeat the creature. "I'll admit, that was a bit more challenging than I expected. But I did it. It actually reminded me of being back in Professor Port's class on the first day." She said.
"And that's why I did it. You ready to come back now?" Katana asked.
"Yes. I believe I am." Weiss confirmed. A white light then shined down on her and beamed her away from the snowy peaks.
The heiress reappeared in the room with everyone else, soon to be congratulated by all of her friends. "You did a great job, Weiss. That Bulldrome was pulling crazy stuff that a Boarbatusk would never think of doing, but you still won!" Ruby cheered.
"Yeah, you sent that piggy crying 'wee, wee, wee' all the way home!" Yang agreed.
"Still, for just being really big boars, those things pack a punch. It was impressive how you handled most of what it did." Blake said supportively.
"I was also very impressed by your victory, Weiss. But most of all, I'm glad that you were unharmed." Penny said, hugging her.
"You were a bit overconfident at the beginning, but once you took the fight seriously, you did very well, Weiss." Winter praised.
"Thank you, sister." Weiss said with a smile.
"Yeah, way to go, Ice Princess!" Nora cheered.
"So, then! Who wants to go next?" Katana asked.
"I wouldn't mind giving it a shot." Ilia declared, taking Weiss' spot in the center of the ring.
"Good luck, Ilia." Blake told her friend.
"Show them what the Faunus are capable of." Adam added.
"Alright-y, then. Just one thing before you go." Katana said, walking up to Ilia and giving her a swat on her less-than-ample booty.
"Oww! What was that for?!" The chameleon girl demanded, rubbing her butt as her freckles glowed pink, which soon translated to her outfit as well. "Whoa! What the!?" She asked in shock.
"There you go. I didn't just slap your butt, I touched your clothes. Now they clothes can change color along with you, so you don't just have to be somewhere dark in order to disappear, now you can perfectly blend in any environment. Let's see if that trick will help you against Shogun Ceanataur." Katana declared.
A/N: Hey, guys! Hope you all enjoyed this chapter! I actually struggled a bit to come up with who should be next, so please leave some suggestions for monsters the characters could fight.
