Hello everybody! I know I haven't posted in a while, sorry about that. Please don't kill me I just wanted a break and I was writing multiple versions of this chapter and I didn't like any of them so I scrapped them and was given some inspiration after leaving it alone for a while.

I would like to say a big thanks to godric777 for the feedback and for giving some ideas which I am more than happy to use. If anyone has any thoughts/ideas/feedback please let me know via review or pm.

Enough of that you've all had enough time to wait so on with the story...

Chapter 14: Small Minded World

Arthur was stood on the balcony of the castle looking upon his people as he made his announcement. "I would like to announce to you, the people of Camelot, that magic will no longer be outlawed in Camelot. Sorcerers, witches, wizards, warlocks, druids alike are free to use magic without the punishment of death. If magic is used wrongfully the law shall stay in place and offer a fair trial to the one accused. This kingdom has been protected by magic unknown to us by the one they call Emrys, someone who I, who we all, owe our lives to. I would also like to announce appointing two people, people who have helped me see how magic can be used for good, as Court Sorcerers. Merlin and Morgause!" Arthur announced whilst a lot of his people cheered at everyone becoming equal. Merlin and Morgause made their way to stand next to the King.

"Um, Sire?" Merlin whispered.

"What is it Merlin?" Arthur rolled his eyes.

"Who's going to be your servant? Is it still me? Or-" He was cut off by Arthur laughing.

"Do not worry about that, I have another servant, George." Merlin merely smiled and looked towards Morgause.

"So, fellow Court Sorcerer, shall we have a day of celebration?" Merlin smiled goofily.

"Celebrations aren't until tomorrow so we could have a training session as Arthur was ever so kind to agree with me." The blonde smirked.

"You two are going to gang up on me now all the time aren't you?" Merlin groaned.

"Don't know what you mean, Merlin." Arthur answered from behind the Warlock.

"You guys are just mean."

The clash of and some occasional pained grunts filled the air of the clearing. Morgause was trying to teach Merlin to use a sword as it would come in useful when under an attack and use the element of surprise of using magic. Merlin had mastered everything Morgause had taught him on magical combat, however, he had not quite mastered the healing side of magic.

Panting after barely managing to block Morgause's attacks he just manages to say "stop! Stop I need a break."

"You do realise in the middle of a fight you cannot just stop for a break?" Morgause replied sharply.

"No I'd just blast them back with my magic." Merlin whipped back saracstically.

"We can have a break and then try again. You are useless with a sword."

"That's because I don't need one, and neither do you." Merlin and Morgause both then sat in silence. "I want to you to meet someone." Merlin said before shouting into the air in his dragon tongue.

"You are aware I have already met Kilgarrah."

"Yes, but this is Aithusa." Merlin answered as the young dragon came into sight and landing in front of them.

"I thought Kilgarrah was the last dragon."

"So did I, so did he but the egg was hidden away from everyone. Someone found the clues as to what would lead him to the egg. He just wanted the money, the fear. Uther found out and wanted to destroy the last egg but I could not let him do that. It is my duty as a Dragon Lord and why kill something that has done no harm to anyone?"

"How did you end up Arthur's servant?" Morgause questioned randomly. At this point Aithusa had flown back home.

"I saved his life from this sorcerer who wanted revenge on Uther, a son for a son. Really though me and Arthur hated each other to begin with until we started to respect each other. Well kind of."

"But you saved his life anyway."

"It was the right thing to do."

"I thought what I was doing was right by everyone like me and you but I see now that I was blinded by revenge against Uther."

"What matters now is we can be who we want to be without having the possibility of a death sentence hanging over us."

"There are some that are against us though."

"There always will be but that should not stop us from being who we are. We are who we are not who the world wants us to be."

"I wish to see the world the way you see it Merlin." Morgause gave a sad smile.

"Where did you go?" Merlin asked abruptly.

"What do you mean?"

"On our way back to Arthur to heal the tear between the worlds you disappeared leaving me and Lancelot. Where did you go? I thought you would have beaten us and sacrificed yourself the way you were talking."

"I was going to. I planned on it. But Sarrum's men got to me first. They knew who I was with the few run ins we had."

"What happened?"

"He had me chained to the wall of a pit. I had no food, no water. For what felt like forever. I never even saw anyone. I enjoyed making them suffer. I know you'll say I shouldn't have but what they did, they deserved it. I left Sarrum in the same pit he left me in."

"I'm sorry Morgause."

"It doesn't matter. They're gone and will never bother me or anyone else." The blonde tried to smile but Merlin could the tears clearly forming in her eyes.

"It does matter, you matter." Their faces were inches away from each other as they leaned in closer-

"Oi! Look over here boys, it's that witch and her pet sorcerer." Someone shouted making the two jump apart.

"How sweet. No doubt getting ready to slaughter us all." Another man yelled. A group of men surrounded the two menacingly as they both clung to each other's hand.

"Let's not do this. We mean no harm to anyone." Merlin tried to defend him and Morgause.

"Is that right? Then why did that witch try to kill the King? Hm?"

"I did not try to kill Arthur! I challenged him so I could make a deal with him to come find me and find out that I - that we were not the enemy but Uther was." Morgause argued back.

"You're both just like the Lady Morgana, trying to gain our trust before you attack us and kill us." One man sneered at them.

"We are nothing like her."

"We all know it. What do you say boys? Let's kill 'em." At that the group went to attack the two sorcerers before Morgause pushed them back with an invisible gush of magic.

"I'm sorry. I didn't want to hurt you but you left me no choice." Morgause apoligised before grabbing Merlin's hand tightly with both hands. "Bedyrne us! Astyre us panonweard!" As the blonde began muttering the spell, all of the angry mob flinched back scared of what was about to happen until both the blonde and the dark haired man had disappeared. Now they were angry, relieved that they were alive, but angry that the pair had managed to flee.

And done. Til next time, adios amigos.
