Episode 388: Making a Sinnoh Start
Shortly after arriving to the Sinnoh region, Sora, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Chase, Elaine, Wes, Rui, Michael, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, Marill, Volt, and Maple started to make their way through the land and they arrived to Twinleaf Town.
"Here we are. Twinleaf Town," Sora said.
"Wow, look how nice it looks," Michael said.
"It reminds me so much of Pallet Town," Chase said.
"Or Littleroot Town," Brendan said.
"Or Newbark Town," Ethan said.
"This is only the first of many places Sinnoh has to offer, guys," Ash said.
"I'm with him. We should go and see if we can catch some new Pokémon while we're here," Elaine said.
"And check out the stores and restaurants while we're at it," May said.
"Of course, May has an eye for shopping and eateries," Lyra said.
"Don't forget what we're here for," Kairi said.
"Right. To find Keyblade candidates who would also be Guardians of Kingdom Hearts," Brendan said.
"We already made that clear before coming to shore," Wes said.
"Right," Rui said.
Just then, Sora's egg began to glow.
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed. Sora took a look at his egg.
"Guys! The egg!" Sora gasped.
"The egg is close to hatching?!" Roxas asked.
"Yeah, it is," Sora said.
"Excuse me," a voice said. They turned to see Lucas's father along with Wendy. "Did I just hear one of you say about a hatching egg?"
"Yes, sir. It's my egg," Sora said.
"I see. Let's head for my house. You can have your egg hatch there. It isn't too far," Lucas's father said.
"Thanks," the group said as they followed them to the house. They entered the house as Sora placed the egg on the middle of the table as they waited anxiously for the egg to hatch.
"Oh, I can't wait to see what Pokémon is in it! I want to see it!" Wendy said happily.
"Be patient, dear," Lucas's mother said.
The egg then gave one last glow and the egg has completely hatched. The egg is revealed to be a small, blue, canine Pokémon. It has a black torso and legs, a blue tail, and a yellow collar. It has rounded bumps on the backs of its forepaws. It has a black "mask" and red eyes. It stands on its toes instead of its entire foot. It has developed two black appendages that hang down from its head.
"Look at that," Ethan said.
"A Riolu," Lucas's father said.
"So, that's what was inside it," Sora said, taking out his Rotom Phone and scanned it.
Riolu, the Emanation Pokémon
Type: Fighting
It has the peculiar power of being able to see emotions such as joy and rage in the form of waves.
"Hey, isn't Riolu the pre-evolved form of Lucario?" Elaine pointed out.
"It is," Wes said.
"Aw, it's so cute," Wendy said.
Riolu looked up and looked right at Sora and into his aura. Sora looked right into the newborn Riolu's aura.
"I guess he recognizes you as his Trainer," Sora said.
"He?" Lucas's father asked.
"She can tell if a Pokémon is a boy or a girl," Roxas explained.
"Anyway, thanks for letting us come here just so the egg can hatch," Sora said.
"You're welcome. You kids don't seem to be from around here," Lucas's father said.
"Well, we actually come from different regions. That would be Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, so we just arrived here today," Sora said.
"I see," Lucas's father said.
"Are you going to be competing in the Sinnoh Pokémon League or in the Sinnoh Pokémon Contests?" Lucas's mother asked.
"I'm going to be going for the Sinnoh Pokémon League and she's going for the Pokémon Contests," Sora said, pointing to Kairi.
"Lucas is going to be in the Sinnoh Pokémon League, too," Wendy said.
"Who's Lucas?" Brendan asked.
"He's our son. In fact, he just went to Professor Rowan's lab in Sandgem Town to pick out his first Pokémon, along with his best friend. In fact, you look like he could be friends with you," Lucas's father said.
"Uh, that actually works out for us because we were on our way there when the egg started to hatch," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said. Wendy looked over at Pikachu.
"A Pikachu. Hiya, Pikachu," Wendy said. She noticed the other Pokémon, too. More Pikachu, and some Eevee and a Marill. So cute."
"Marill," Marill said.
"It looks like you really like Pokémon, Wendy," May said.
"I love Pokémon," Wendy said.
"Yeah, and so does Lucas," Lucas's mother said, chuckling.
"Thanks again, so we'll be taking off for Sandgem Town," Sora said.
"You're welcome. And happy trails," Lucas's father said.
After meeting Lucas's family, the group continued their journey, heading for Sandgem Town. When they made it outside, Sora, Pikachu, and Riolu came across a Starly.
"A Starly. Let's see," Sora said, taking out his Rotom Phone and scanned it.
Starly, the Starling Pokémon
Type: Normal/Flying
They flock around mountains and fields, chasing after bug Pokémon. Their singing is noisy and annoying.
"Okay, let's make this first catch memorable," Sora said. He looked over to Pikachu. "Okay, Pikachu, go get it."
"Pikachu," Pikachu said, stepping in to battle Starly.
"Pay attention, Riolu. Pikachu is going to be help teach you how to battle," Sora said. Pikachu approached Starly, so the Starling Pokémon flew right at Pikachu. "Okay, dodge Starly's Tackle and use Iron Tail!" Pikachu swings his tail and smacked Starly on the mark. Starly flew right at Pikachu with Quick Attack, landing a hit. "Thunderbolt!" Pikachu fired a Thunderbolt, shocking Starly. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Starly flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "And I caught myself a Starly."
"Pi, Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"Riolu," Riolu said.
Over to Kairi, she sees a Bidoof. This Bidoof has five tufts on its tail.
"Now, what do we have here?" Kairi asked, taking out her Rotom Phone and scanned it.
Bidoof, the Plump Mouse Pokémon
Type: Normal
It lives in groups by the water. It chews up boulders and trees around its nest with its incisors.
"Looks like the perfect Pokémon for us to catch, wouldn't you agree, Angel?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee," Angel nodded.
"Okay, Angel, go for it. Headbutt!" Kairi ordered. Angel started her attack and headbutts Bidoof. The Plump Mouse Pokémon charges at Angel with a Tackle. "Use Iron Tail!" Angel swings her tail and lands a hit onto Bidoof. "Use Swift!" Angel fired Swift at Bidoof, weakening it. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it. Bidoof flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi picked up the Pokéball. "And I have myself a Bidoof."
"Eevee, vee!" Angel said.
Meanwhile, Xigbar has arrived to Count Ernesh's mansion as Count Ernesh has stepped out to greet him.
"It seems Lord Insidious was right. You were recompleted after all," Count Ernesh said.
"Yeah, I was. Just had to make a decision on who gets in and who gets rejected. Speaking of which, that's the main reason I'm here," Xigbar said.
"Yes, I may have chosen a worthy candidate, Xigbar," Count Ernesh said.
"Well, let's hope this guy is a keeper, but you know it's gonna be a long while until he's a hundred percent, and thats where you and your posse comes in," Xigbar said.
"Yes. That would be Sora Ketchum and the rest of the Guardians of Kingdom Hearts. I have received word that most of them have already arrived in the Sinnoh region earlier," Count Ernesh said.
"Good. As you know, the old man isn't feeling his best, and it's only a matter of time before a full recovery, so we're gonna need you to keep the kiddies busy for as long as you can," Xigbar said.
"I assure you, Xigbar, I most certainly will. And when Master Xehanort fully recovers, the chosen of the true Organization XIII will be by your side," Count Ernesh said.
"Alright. Just do what you can, and keep your part of our agreement, and we'll keep the part of ours," Xigbar said.
"Yes, and I will pass this on to Lord Insidious," Count Ernesh said. Xigbar takes his leave through a corridor of darkness. "It would seem our time of waiting is finally over."
Meanwhile, Dawn is riding on her bike. She makes a stop and ran to a field. She threw her Pokéball.
"Piplup! Come on out!" Dawn called out. Her Pokéball opened and her Piplup came on out.
"Piplup!" Piplup said.
Dawn and Piplup sat up against a boulder and looked up to the sky.
"Piplup, I am psyched and all, but I'm starting to wonder what a new Pokémon Trainer like me does first," Dawn said.
"Pip," Piplup said.
"It's a deal. Let's catch us a Pokémon," Dawn said. She stood up and spotted a Buneary in the grass. "A Buneary!" Dawn remembered her Rotom Phone and used it to scan it.
Buneary, the Rabbit Pokémon
Type: Normal
By quickly extending its rolled up ears, it can launch a powerful attack against its enemies.
"We have to watch out for those ears. The best way to catch a wild Pokémon is to catch is to battle a wild Pokémon until it gets weak. And that's where you come in. You ready?" Dawn asked.
"Piplup," Piplup said.
"Okay! Bubble Beam!" Dawn ordered. Piplup fired Bubble Beam at the Rabbit Pokémon. "There's nothing like calling an attack! Awesome!" Buneary dodges Piplup's attack just by jumping. "What a jump!" Piplup looked around as Buneary lands right behind Piplup. "Buneary's right behind you! Use Peck!" Piplup turns around and attempts to land a Peck, but Buneary dodged Piplup and lands a powerful punch against Piplup, knocking it out. "Piplup!" Dawn ran towards Piplup and helped the penguin-like Pokémon up. Buneary then ran off. "Okay, Piplup!" Buneary hopped on Dawn's head and ran away. "That hurt, but how do you feel?"
"Piplup," Piplup said, hanging its head in shame.
"Hey, don't feel bad, Piplup. Everyone makes mistakes in the first time around. You just gotta keep on trucking," Dawn said.
"Piplup, Piplup!" Piplup said.
Meanwhile, Lucas has come across a wild Turtwig. It was eating some berries that has fallen from a nearby tree. Lucas took out his Rotom Phone and scanned it.
Turtwig, the Tiny Leaf Pokémon
Type: Grass
Turtwig's shell is made out of soil. The moisten soil indicates how healthy Turtwig is.
"Turtwig is the Grass starter here in Sinnoh. It's rare to find a wild Turtwig, but I could catch one for myself," Lucas said. He took out a Pokéball and he threw it. "Chimchar! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Chimchar emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Chimchar!" Chimchar said. Turtwig turned to the monkey-like Pokémon.
"Okay, Chimchar! Scratch!" Lucas ordered. Chimchar scratches Turtwig. The Tiny Leaf Pokémon responds by tackling into Chimchar. "Use Ember!" Chimchar fired Ember at Turtwig, landing a hit. "One more scratch!" Chimchar scratches Turtwig. Turtwig slammed on the ground, using Earth Power. Chimchar jumped in the tree. "That was Earth Power! Okay, Chimchar! Ember!" Chimchar fired Ember, hitting Turtwig on the mark. Lucas took out a Pokéball and threw it. Turtwig flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "Alright! I caught my own Turtwig! That's three counting you, Chimchar." He and Chimchar hi-five each other.
Back with the group, Roxas was making a catch of his own. He came across a wild Starly, so Roxas has his Taillow battling it.
"Okay, Taillow! Peck!" Roxas ordered. Taillow pecked the Starling Pokémon on the mark. "Quick Attack!" Taillow dashed at Starly, landing a hit. The Starly fell to the ground, so Roxas took out a Pokéball and threw it. Starly flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Roxas's Pokémon Box off asking him if he wants to keep Starly with him. He chose to send Starly to Professor Oak's lab. "Great job, Taillow."
"Taillow!" Taillow said. He called Taillow back as he rejoined the rest of the group.
"So, how did you do?" Sora asked.
"I caught myself a Bidoof," Kairi said.
"I caught a Starly," Roxas said.
"A Starly, huh? Me too," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Well, we should head for Sandgem Town since it's just up ahead," Ash said.
"Right," the rest of the group said.
The group have made it right to Sandgem Town, and upon arriving they saw a familiar face to some of them.
"Gary!" Sora called out. Hearing Sora's voice he turned and saw the group.
"I don't believe it. Sora, Ash, Leaf, Kairi, you're here," Gary said, walking toward them. "Ethan, Lyra, and Kris, Elaine, and Chase, too. Great seeing you again." He saw the Hoenn couple. "Let me guess, you're May and Brendan, right?"
"You know about us?" May asked.
"Yeah. Ash and Leaf told about you two. I know May's the Petalburg City's Gym Leader's daughter, and Brendan is Professor Birch's son. I had a feeling I was gonna meet you sooner or later," Gary said.
"Yeah, and Sora did tell us about you. You're Professor Oak's grandson," Brendan said.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Gary," May said.
"Likewise," Gary said. He noticed Roxas, Xion, Wes, Rui, and Michael. "Who are they?"
"Meet Roxas and Xion. Other Keyblade wielders and Pokémon Trainers. Wes, Rui, and Michael are from the Orre region," Sora said.
"Nice to meet you, Gary," Xion said.
"Same here. When did you get here?" Gary asked.
"Earlier today. Surprise," Sora said.
"I'll say. Anyway, how's the egg?" Gary asked.
"Funny, you should ask," Sora took out his Pokeball and he opened it. Riolu came out from inside. "As you can see, the egg you gave me hatched."
"Ah, so it was a Riolu. I guess I was right after all," Gary said.
"Yeah, I wanted to thank you for the egg," Sora said.
"Well, you're welcome, but that's not the only reason you're here, is it?" Gary asked.
"Yeah, you're right, Gary. We should talk over at Professor Rowan's lab," Leaf suggested.
Joining the group, they filled Gary in about their adventures, including about them wiping out Organization XIII and everything else that happened since then. Gary knew he was right about them coming to the Sinnoh region.
"There's never a dull moment with you guys. I kinda had a feeling Chase and Elaine would have Keyblades, too," Gary said.
"Well, we joined the club," Chase said.
"Anyway, here we are," Gary said, entering the lab. They saw Professor Rowan and he saw the group.
"Ah, Gary. I trust these are your friends," Professor Rowan said.
"Yes, professor. Sora, Ash, Leaf, Chase, and Elaine I knew from my youth. Ethan, Kris, and Lyra are from the Johto region, and Brendan and May are from the Hoenn region. They came all this way from the Kanto region earlier today," Gary said.
"So, you're Sora. I have heard so much about you. Gary has told me that you're a skilled Pokémon Trainer," Professor Rowan said.
"Thank you, professor," Sora said. He had to assume he didn't mention the Keyblade to him.
The group noticed the Chimchar and Turtwig.
"Hey, I think I know these. This one's a Turtwig and this is a Chimchar, right?" Brendan asked.
"Yes. As you can see, these are two of the three beginning Pokémon I give out to Trainers beginning their journey in the Sinnoh region. Chimchar is a Fire-type, Turtwig, is a Grass-type, and there is Piplup who is a Water-type," Professor Rowan said, showing the group a picture of Piplup.
"It really takes me back," May said, feeling nostalgic.
"Any Trainer would be lucky to have one of you," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Professor, if it's okay to ask, but I think we should make contact with Professor Oak from your phone," Sora said.
"Of course," Professor Rowan said.
With that said, Sora made contact with Professor Oak's lab.
"Ah, Sora, Kairi, and the rest. I assume that you made it over to the Sinnoh region safely," Professor Oak said.
"Yeah, we made it over. Sorry for not calling sooner, but..." Sora paused.
"No need to explain, Sora. I'm sure you were just getting there just fine. And Roxas, I did receive that Starly from you. Nicely done," Professor Oak said.
"Thanks," Roxas said.
"I also caught a Starly, professor," Sora said.
"And I caught a Bidoof," Kairi said.
"Also, the egg I got from Gary hatched," Sora said, letting out Riolu.
"Ah, a Riolu. And it looks very healthy," Professor Oak said.
"Wonderful. Sounds like you're already well on your way. Where are you right now?" Professor Oak asked.
"We're calling you from Professor Rowan's lab in Sandgem Town," Kairi said.
"Yeah, we asked Professor Rowan to make contact with you," Ash said.
"Yes, they did," Professor Rowan said, stepping forward.
"Ah, Professor Rowan, it's been years since we last we each other. I trust you're teaching my grandson well," Professor Oak said.
"Your grandson is an exceptional student, Samuel. But if I must say, you should take some time with your research other than your Pokémon poetry," Professor Rowan said.
"Ah, you seem to forget that Pokemon poetry is a passion of mine," Professor Oak said.
"Perhaps," Professor Rowan said.
"Anyway, Sora, since you'll be competing for the Sinnoh Pokémon League, Sora, your step would be Oreburgh City," Professor Oak said.
"Oreburgh City, got it," Sora said.
"On the way, we'll be stopping to Jubelife City," Kairi said.
"Ah, yes. There should be a Pokémon Contest being held there if I am not mistaken. It is on the way to Oreburgh City, so it should work out for you," Professor Rowan said.
"That works out perfectly for us, professor," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Thank you very much," Kairi said.
"You're very welcome," Professor Rowan said.
"I wish you the best of luck on your way," Professor Oak said.
"Thanks, professor," Sora said.
"And I wish you luck as well for your own paths," Professor Rowan said.
"I'll inform your families that you made contact," Professor Oak said.
"We appreciate it," Ethan said.
"Thanks again," Chase said.
After speaking with Professor Oak, Professor Rowan and Gary stood before the group.
"Best of luck on your way, children," Professor Rowan said.
"And make sure you take care of Riolu, Sora," Gary said.
"You can count on me, Gary," Sora said.
With that said, the group took off to Jubilife City and keep their eyes opened for Lucas along the way. The same Piplup was still following the group, undetected.
Meanwhile, Dawn and Piplup rode on Piplup's bike.
"Hey, Piplup, do you know what a Pokémon Contest is?" Dawn asked.
"Pip?" Piplup asked.
"It's so cool! My dream is to be a Top Coordinator just like my mom. So the first place we're going is Jubilife City, so they're having a Pokémon Contest there. And it's close. Now, let's get as many Pokémon as we can before then, so we'll have lots of help. We gotta come up with our own combinations, too, you know?" Dawn asked.
"Lup!" Piplup said.
"So, let's go get 'em!" Dawn said. She looked around and spotted a is a small, larval Pokémon with a black segmented body and a coiled antenna on top of its head. It has a beak-like mouth and yellow eyes. Burmy has six stubby legs: the first two pairs are black, while the back pair is yellow. There are also two white spots on its cheeks. It is covered in leaves. "Wow, it's a Burmy." She took out her Rotom Phone and scanned it.
Burmy, the Bagworm Pokémon
Type: Bug
When its current cloak is broken in battle, it wraps itself in materials, making a brand new cloak for itself to wear. Burmy's cloaks are known as the Plant Cloak, the Trash Cloak, and the Sandy Cloak.
"Catching that little cutie will be piece of cake," Dawn said. Piplup leaps into action. Piplup fired Bubble Beam at Burmy, breaking the leaves off. "Wow, that was great! I think we caught ourselves a Pokémon!" Dawn takes Piplup by the flippers. Piplup turns around and sees Burmy putting its leaves back on.
"Piplup, Piplup, Piplup!" Piplup exclaimed.
"What's wrong?" Dawn asked. Burmy quickly places the leaves back on. "Wow, look at Burmy go!" She looked at Piplup who tells her that now isn't a time to be awestruck. "Oh, you're right!" Dawn was looking for a Pokéball. "I gotta catch it!" She was about to throw her Pokéball when she saw Burmy gone. "Well, it looks like it was my turn to make one of those beginner's mistakes, and that was a beauty."
"Lup," Piplup said, tapped on Dawn's knee, telling her not to give up. Dawn cheered up.
"You're right! I shouldn't get bummed out! I mean, we can make mistakes, and we can learn from them! So together, let's climb together until we've reached the tip top!" Dawn said.
"Lup!" Piplup said. It then heard something, coming from the bushes.
"Piplup, is something there?" Dawn asked. They saw the shrubs moving and out came a Pikachu, but this Pikachu is female. "Ah! A Pikachu!" Dawn took out her Rotom Phone and scanned it.
Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon
The evolved form of Pichu
Type: Electric
When it is angered, it immediately discharges the energy stored in the pouches in its cheeks.
"So, it's an Electric-type. Not a great match up against a Water-type like Piplup, but hey. Let's take it from the top! Piplup! Use Bubble Beam!" Dawn ordered. Piplup fired Bubble Beam at the Mouse Pokémon, but the Pikachu dodged Piplup's Bubble Beam. Pikachu responds with a Thunderbolt, popping the bubbles. "That's a Thunderbolt. Okay, Piplup! Use Peck!" Piplup came at Pikachu with a Peck, but Pikachu gave her opponent another Thunderbolt, shocking Piplup and hitting her bike. "My bike! It's extra crispy!" She growled in anger. "Okay, I am going to capture you for that! Here you go!" Dawn threw her Pokéball and it hits Pikachu. She flowed inside it. "Gotcha!" The Pokéball wobbles around very violently until the Pokéball busts open and ran off. "No, no, no! Don't run!" She sighed in frustration. "Aw, man. I totally pictured this a whole lot differently." She picked up Piplup. "Are you okay, Piplup?"
"Pip," Piplup said.
"Okay, today isn't working out so good, so let's head for the Pokémon Center and get you fixed up," Dawn said.
With that said, Dawn came to the Pokémon Center to have Piplup healed from its injuries.
"Is Piplup going to be okay?" Dawn asked.
"Don't worry, your Piplup will be okay," Nurse Joy said.
"Thank you," Dawn said. She sighed to herself. "What a day." She didn't wait too long as Nurse Joy, Blissey, and Chansey brought Piplup back out. "Piplup!"
"Your Piplup is one hundred percent fighting fit," Nurse Joy said.
"Great," Dawn said. She then took out her Rotom Phone and she called her mother from the Pokémon Center. "Hi, mom."
"Hello, Dawn. I trust you're doing okay," Johanna said.
"Well, I had hit several bumps on my road of training Pokémon, but I chose Piplup as my partner," Dawn said, showing Piplup to her mother.
"That's wonderful. You made a good choice with Piplup. Smart and cute, too," Johanna said.
"Piplup," Piplup said.
"So, have you been able to catch some other Pokémon yet?" Johanna asked.
"That's the bumps I mentioned before, because I tried. So far, no luck," Dawn said.
"It takes a while until you get the hang of it. But once you do, you're going to have so much fun. Nothing's more exciting than finding new Pokémon friends," Johanna said.
"Pip!" Piplup said, sticking its chest out.
"Hey, are you posing or something?" Dawn asked. Peeved, Piplup turned to Dawn.
"Piplup, Piplup!" Piplup argued.
"Well, you didn't exactly do a productive job in catching any Pokémon!" Dawn argued back.
"Piplup, Piplup!" Piplup argued back before pecking Dawn.
"Ouch! Hey, don't you peck at me! I'll peck at you back!" Dawn exclaimed.
"Those two were made for each other," Johanna whispered to Glameow.
"Meow," Glameow said.
Well, Dawn may not be getting a good start, but she'll bounce back. We'll leave it here for now, so be sure to stick around if you want some more excitement. Until then...
