A/N: Okay, here we are with the next chapter! It took me some time to finalize it... I tried to include some informations that explain what happened in the chapters before and why all are behaving the way they do.
[GOKU] Think before you speak. Always. (2)
"You! Explain!" Bulma's angry voice echoed in my ears as she rushed into the guestroom I was staying in, slamming the door shut behind her. I grumbled as I wasn't in the mood to explain anything. I had underestimated Chichi's temper.
I had been too impatient. I was so used to others submitting to their instincts that I believed I could do the same with her. Make her understand that it was me she needed through her pheromones, through her body. I wanted to manipulate her – and now I felt even more repulsed by her than before.
"I am waiting!" the bluenette took my attention back to her and I made a face, signaling her I wasn't in the mood to talk.
"Don't give me that look and speak!" she pointed her finger towards me. "You promised me to tell me what was happening with her! Why did it feel like Chichi was one of us? Why did you say you were the only one who could help her? And what exactly did you do to her? I know you like to act without thinking first but don't tell me you've done something to her you better shouldn't have?! "
I pouted as I turned my head away from Bulma. Her trying to educate me wasn't anything new, she loved doing that as I was younger than her. We were both Alphas, so she was not particularly disrespectful towards me, but I was a male. And a strong one at that – I only permitted her to talk to me like that because I considered her my friend and the potential spouse of my cousin. And because I knew her since I was a child. But that didn't give her the right to reprimand me of my actions. I tried to keep my cool as I asked "What do you think I did? Did she tell you anything?"
"She just told me that it felt like you were trying to force yourself on her! Really? Goku!? What were you thinking? I trusted you when you took her away because you said you were going to help her!"
I pressed my lips into a thin line. So, Chichi did not tell Bulma the whole truth although she was not lying as well.
Bulma just kept on ranting "Look at me when I'm talking to you, damn it! I know you're behaving strange whenever Chichi's around, but I thought you trustworthy enough to help her out in this situation. You promised me you were the only one who could help her! And it looked like she wasn't totally against it, that's why I left you two alone. But forcing yourself on her? That was the help you wanted to offer? If you're so desperate to get your hands on a woman, why not using one of those exclusive escorts instead of a young human girl who was feeling sick?"
"I am not - !" I yelled but tried to calm myself down again "…into those women. And I simply did what I had to do. "
"What you had to do? You might be an Alpha but that does not give you the right to do as you please when you see fit!"
"It's because I am one I which gives me the right to do as I please! You're Alpha as well, and nobody's questioning the things you're doing! I was simply responding to a female who was calling for me! I did what I was supposed to do!"
"Yeah, but you're responding to my best friend who is not even Alpha, Beta or – "
"She is an Omega, Buls!" I exploded angrily. "And she is mine!"
Bulma stumbled back as she was baffled at my outburst. "What are you talking about? Chichi's human."
"She is not! Or why do you think I behave so strange around her, as you described it? How would you even describe me reacting to her if she simply was human? Why do you think I was the only one who could help her in the first place?"
"Because you're an idiot?!"
"Yeah great. Insulting me is really helpful, thank you." I sarcastically spat and Bulma blinked confusedly. I knew I was rarely sarcastic and to 90% I did not even understand to concept of sarcasm, but I was not in a good mood. And I spoke without thinking.
"You have noticed her scent when she broke down, right? Did it not do something to you as well? Weren't you attracted to her even a little in that way?" I tilted my head in a mocking manner. I was not known to be quarrelsome, but I was angry (mostly at myself), and Bulma was getting on my nerves. Here she was one of the smartest people I knew but she had not realized Chichi's intoxicating scent? Or what that meant? Even all the Betas around us did – and those rarely responded as much as Alphas did to pheromones of Omegas. Luckily no other Alpha had been near and reacted to her – or I might have tried to hurt him or her. Worse kill.
"I had not thought it came only from her, there were a lot of people!" Bulma justified. "And I am not so weak as to respond to such attraction that easily! She is my friend, and I love her, but not like that!" she huffed before continuing "And as far as I know, Omegas are supposed to react to every Alpha in general when they are in a weak state and still unmarked – but she did never react to me!"
"Maybe she did realize then that I am the stronger one between us both." I concluded, putting my hands into my pockets and sitting down on the sofa grumpily.
Bulma sighed as she rubbed the bridge of her nose. "Huh…that might be the case, but what if she only responded to you today because you were the only man near? Ever considered that she just reacted like any normal human being would?"
"Then how would you explain her pheromones being all over the place? Is that something that happens to humans as well?"
"Of course not!" she hissed "But, we don't know if she is what you claim her to be just because you say so."
I wanted to open my mouth to contradict but Bulma continued speaking "Let's consider you are right – hypothetically spoken – how did you even come up with the idea she could be an Omega? You have seen her only a couple of times and she normally tries to avoid meeting you. She did not react to you when you tried to hit on her in the club. In fact, she hit you instead. If you remember."
I scratched my cheek absentmindedly. How could I forget. Her slap had even hurt. "I know she tries to get out of my way. Hell, not even I do fully understand it! But the attraction I feel whenever I see her – Buls, I have never felt like this before. And she reacts to me, okay? She does but only subconsciously for now, I guess. Maybe her own feelings scare her, and I totally get that. The pull you feel as soon as you react to the call is rather intimidating. If feels as if your body acts without your mind involved. You cannot help it, it's just as it is. A mere human does not understand this, I know. But when I had seen her and how she had looked at me for the first time, something within me sparked. Buls, she is Omega. Not only that, but she is also my Omega. I just feel it! And you saw how she clung to me!" I knew I sounded desperate now, but I couldn't help it.
"But how can she even…?" Bulma tapped her chin with her left index finger as she tried to understand it all, mumbling to herself "Well, maybe it explains…hm…" She shook her head. "But she's not from any clan. I know her father. And he is human – I have met him once and believe me, he might look rather intimidating, but he is human through and through. Her entire family is, honestly. How can she be an Omega? I've never heard of one being born without any blood relations at all. And if she is, why did she only start to show symptoms after meeting you? Isn't that strange? I have never noticed her to be one – and I should have, right?"
"Well, I am not a normal Alpha compared to you. No offense, but you're so weak you could be Beta." I ignored the angry slap on my shoulder from Bulma while speaking "Who said all Omegas have to be the same?"
She clicked her tongue as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Well, well. Aren't we overly confident…" Now she was the one being sarcastic and I rolled my eyes at her.
"Anyway…" she mouthed "…what I meant is that she never showed interest in anybody! Be it human or not. No other Alpha was able to interest her so far and no other Alpha ever noticed her - including me. And she's met a few who are living in the city, be it strong or weak ones. But she never emitted any pheromones, her body never reacted. And with you she suddenly evolves into….one of us? I had thought it was strange she even could detect your scent, but I believed it to be a coincidence because yeah… you are one of a kind."
I exhaled audibly before I leaned my elbows on my knees. I knew that it was unusual, but…what if she really only might have reacted to me? Would it be possible that I was the sole reason? Did only I trigger her blood to finally reveal her true self? I thought her being between masses of us was the reason for her blood to spike but if truly only I was the reason…
Why does this thought excite me?
I looked at Bulma, trying to read her expression as I asked "Did she tell you anything else?"
"No…she just said it felt as if you had tried to get into her pants." Bulma gave me a side glance of her own and I tried to look as natural as I could.
If she knew I already was in them she would probably resent me more then she already does...
I should have known better – but the sight of her had been too good to stop. Reacting to your instincts was one thing but going against them another – I simply had lost to them. And just the thought of another taste of Chichi was able to spike them up again. I ruffled my hair in distress. My entire soul was screaming for her! If she wasn't meant for me then how could anybody explain the things I was experiencing?
Bulma sighed loudly as she flopped down beside me on the sofa, getting my attention back to the present. "She told me, she was sorry she had caused a scene. But ever since she got home, she's suddenly feeling as fit as a fiddle. I guess thanks to your help..."
I nodded slowly. Stabilizing her had taken some time, but I was glad it had worked. I feeded her so much of my pheromones, she should stay stable for the time being, hopefully. Although Chichi didn't truly understand why I touched her the way I did, it was the only way to help her. And now I had to find a way for her to accept me… I made a face recalling her verbal rejection. There was a lot of work for me to do…
Bulma noticed my facial expression and grinned cheekily. "Let me guess: She rejected you."
"Said she wants us to stay strangers…"
"Figures. She's very proud and very temperamental. I love her for that strength, she stands up for herself and even fights me. It's boring when you always get your ways just because of your rank – with her even I have to fight for the things I want every now and then." Bulma chuckled. "Well, now how will our big strong Goku handle that? You're not used to not getting what you want either. Frustrating, isn't it? Even though she's supposed to be yours?"
I had no idea how to answer to that. And it pissed me off. "You're not going to help me here, right?" is what I said.
"Absolutely not." She shook her head slowly, mockingly. "I will keep my eye on her and protect her, if necessary, obviously. But help you? Nah-ah."
"And why?"
"Because it's fun seeing you struggle."
Of course it is…
