Sick Day

The story opens where it takes place at Hollywood Arts on a Monday morning after a short weekend the students are finished and ready for a boring but long day of classes. The bell rings as Tori Vega goes to her Make It Shine locker to gather some things. Then a certain redhead Cat Valentine cheerly walked to Tori as she smiled at her.

"Hiiii, Tori!" Cat said happily as she went to hug Tori, making her laugh.

"Hey, Cat."

"I want to tell you that you are very beautiful every day," the redhead complimented the latina girl.

"Awwww, thank you," she said. "You are also beautiful with red velvet hair."

Cat giggled. "You with the amazing voice and the cute cheekbones."

"Come here, you."

Tori and Cat hugged each other again as they were both laughing. Then the three guys they knew, Andre Harris, Robbie Shapiro and Beck Oliver arrived to meet with the girls at the lockers.

"Hiiii," Cat said as she waved at them.

"Hey, cutie," Robbie said.

"Hey, Cat," Beck responded.

"Hey, girl." Andre said.

Andre then looked at Tori as they both smiled.

"Hey, Tori, wanna help me to work on an R love song for my advanced songwriting class this week?" he asked. "Come on, I'll let you sing the lead when we have our show."

Tori giggled. "Okay, you know I will."

Then the latina girl looked at the tanned canadian male with the fluffy dark-brown hair in worry as he was wondering about his dyed black haired girl with the blue/green highlights with the blue eyes: Jade West.

"Hey, Beck, is something wrong?" she asked him.

"I'm just wondering where Jade is," Beck said as he ran a hand through his hair. "It's not like her that she's being late to school like this. I haven't seen her all weekend. I'm worried about her."

"I know, she hasn't seen us or texted all weekend," Cat stated. "Maybe she has some issues with her dad and stepmom."

"I'm really sure Jade's okay," Tori said. "She just had a bad weekend."

A few seconds later, Jade then showed up inside the school, feeling not herself. She looked very tired as she shivered and she covered herself with her black jacket sleeves. Usually, she would arrive with Beck holding hands but instead she arrived at the school by herself. Her eyes were barely opened as she went to her scissor covered locker. Seeing Jade like that made the gang very concerned and worried.

Cat walks to Jade as she hugged her. "Oh my God, Jade, you're here! Gosh, we were worried something might have happened to you."

The goth pushed the redhead away from her. "Get off of me! Give me some space. Can't a girl get a little space?!"

The burgundy haired girl felt tears coming out of her brown eyes. "Sorry."

"You okay, girl? You looked terrible," Andre pointed out.

Jade sighs in annoyance. "I'm fine. I must have studied too hard all weekend."

"So, this is why you barely texted or seen you all weekend," Beck said. "Babe, something's really wrong with you."

Jade glared at the gang with angry but tired eyes. "I've told you for the last time, I'm fine, okay?! Now leave me alone!"

As Cat, Robbie and Andre make some shrugs and some "ok's", both Beck and Tori are the only ones who didn't believe her.

"I think something's really wrong with Jade," Tori said.

"I know, I really need to take her to the hospital because I'm getting more worried," Beck stated.

As Tori is opening her mouth to speak, she hears a voice that belongs to her older sister, Trina Vega.

"TORI!"

Tori turned around to see Trina rushing with her coffee cup.

"What?" Tori was annoyed with her sister then realized this situation. "Trina, we've been over this."

"But I want to borrow your purple sweater for my date with Michael this friday night!" Trina protested.

"No! You cannot borrow my clothes," Tori said angrily.

"Please?"

"No."

"Please?"

"No."

"Please, please, please?" Trina pleaded with her hand together.

"I'll do it," Robbie volunteered as he sighed. "No, no, no."

"Remember, my clothes are untouchable, off-limits." Tori pointed out to Trina. "This means you. Understand?"

Trina sighed. "Okay."

Beck is still staring at his girlfriend in worry as Jade starts to get paler as usual. As he and Andre opened their lockers to get their books, they heard a scream from Cat and an "Oh my God!" from Trina.

Beck then turned around and saw the horrible thing that happened as he gasped.

Jade West had been collapsed on the floor and passed out on Cat's arms.

"JADE!"

Tori and the gang went to the unconscious goth girl as Cat has tears on her face and Beck held Jade in his arms.

"Jade, please wake up!" he pleaded in worry. "Just hang in there!"

"We need to take her to the hospital!" Tori panicked.

"I'll get a cold washcloth for her forehead," Trina volunteered as she took a white washcloth off her backpack and ran to the restroom to get it cooled for Jade.

"Robbie, go call 911!" Andre yelled.

Robbie reaches into his pearphone from his pocket and he was calling the ambulance.

"Yes, I need an ambulance… quickly, she is gonna die, yes we are in Hollywood Arts…." Robbie explained on the phone.

Trina came back a minute later with a wet but cold washcloth urgently.

"Here, this will keep her head from being too hot," she said as she put a washcloth on Jade's forehead.

Tori looked at her frenemy in worry. She knew she and Jade went through with some dramatic moments they had but she doesn't want to lose Jade.

A few minutes later, the paramedics arrived at the school and carried Jade into the ambulance.

"Only one person can come with us," one of the paramedics informed.

"I'll go ride in the ambulance with Jade," Tori said.

"But, Tori…" Beck protested.

"Beck, listen, I know me and Jade shared some ups and downs, but she's kinda my friend so please let me look after her," she pointed out.

The dark-brown haired male sighed and gave the latina girl a hug.

"Alright, look after her, Tori."

She looked at him with pained eyes, but managed a smile, "I know I can as long as she's with me."

Tori then got in the ambulance car with Jade as they began to drive to the hospital urgently. Soon after, Beck, Andre, Robbie and Cat began to rush into Beck's car to follow the ambulance.

"I really hope Jade is going to be okay," Cat cried.

Robbie rubbed her back. "She'll be fine, Cat. Jade's a very strong and tough girl."

"Rob's right, Little Red," Andre said.

"And she needs us, okay? So we have to stay strong until we see her, all right?" Beck asked Cat. "Can you do that? But if you can't, it's all right."

The burgundy haired girl dried some of the tears falling down her cheeks as Beck started his car, "I c-can try."

"That's a good girl. Now let's go to the hospital, all right?"

"Kay kay."

The ride to the hospital was long and painful for both the latina girl and the pale goth girl. Obviously, it was painful for Tori due to Jade being unconscious as she is fighting for her life. Tori felt some tears coming down her face as she held Jade's hand. The heavy city traffic wasn't helping either. Eventually, though, the hospital was in sight. Once they were in the hospital the doctors took Jade into an emergency room and started attending to her while Tori was in the waiting room, praying for Jade.

Then Tori saw her friends arrive at the hospital with worried faces.

"Tori!" Andre called.

"How's Jade?" Beck asked.

"They just took her into an emergency room," Tori told them, closing her eyes, "But the doctors haven't told me why."

The gang then sat on a bench outside of the operating room. Cat was crying. She couldn't be strong at the moment. And Cat's friends didn't expect her to.

"I wanna see Jade," Cat whispered, tears trailing down her cheeks as she buried her head in Robbie's shoulder.

"I do, too, Cat." Robbie whispered back, stroking her hair. "Don't worry; Jade's going to be fine."

Tori walked into an empty room as she felt tears coming out of her face.

"Please, Jade, don't leave me," She silently begged her frenemy in thought, as she rested her head against her knees, her eyes closed, the tears ceasing, "If you leave, I don't know what will happen." She heard someone come up to her and looked up.

"Are you all right, sweetie?" a Mexican nurse asked her.

"No," Tori shook her head, regaining her composure.

"Were you the one that came in with the young goth girl still in the emergency room?" the nurse asked.

Tori nodded, "Do you know how she is?"

"No. I'm sorry. But we have the best doctors in Los Angeles working to save her."

Tori buried her head in her knees again and continued her silent wish that Jade would be okay.

"Ah, Mija." The nurse said. Tori looked up at her, "You truly like that the goth girl, don't you?"

She nodded absently, "I do, she's sorta my friend despite the differences with each other."

The mexican nurse gave her a sympathetic smile. "How long have you been here?"

"Since she came in. I need to know if Jade is going to be okay."

The nurse sat next to Tori, "I was like you when I was a little older than you are."

The latina girl looked at the nurse, her eyes questioning.

"I mean, when I was a little older than you are now, my former frenemy turned best friend named Selena was in a fatal accident and it was the same day I was going to tell her how much I loved her as my best friend. She was in surgery for hours and I cried each of those hours, wanting to know if he would be all right."

"And was she?" Tori asked her, intrigued, forgetting about her own tears.

"It took a while, but when I went to see her while she recovered from surgery, I couldn't hold back my feelings. I told her I loved her as my best friend. And do you want to know what happened after that?"

"What?"

"She took my hands in her and told me I was the most special person to her and that she was afraid she'd never see me again. And that she hoped I was the first person she saw after the crash."

"That was sweet of her." Tori commented, "She must've really loved you."

"She did," the nurse said, "and I felt the same way. But I never realized it until I almost lost her. And because of that near loss is why I wanted to become a nurse."

"So what happened?"

"After she recovered, our friendship grew and three months later she asked me to be her maid of honor on her wedding day. And our friendship is still strong."

"That was a nice story," Tori said.

"What is your name, Mija?" the nurse asked.

"Tori. Tori Vega," Tori introduced herself. "I'm one of Jade's friends."

"Oh, you're the girl who sang in the Platinum Music Awards!" the nurse commented.

"Yes. Even though Jade can be a very rough person to get along with, she's one of my closest friends that I admire despite our first meeting during my first day at Hollywood Arts turned sour. She and I shared some ups and downs together." Tori stated about her relationship with Jade.

"Awww, I see," the nurse said. "You have a chaotic but loving friendship with her. But I'm pretty sure that your friend will be recovering and will be just fine once she gets better soon."

Tori smiled a little, "I would like that. Thank you, nurse."

"My name is Theresa."

"Thank you, Theresa."

"Is the Jade West you're worried about?"

"She is."

"Interesting."

30 minutes later, Tori came back to her friends as Andre helped her to sit down with him.

"Feel better, Tori?" he asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she said. "I just needed some time for myself."

Then, the light for the operating room dimmed out, causing the latina girl to feel anxiety along with the canadian male. Andre, Robbie and Cat stood along with them.

"I hope the docs tell us what happened." The African-American male muttered under his breath.

"I do, too." Beck agreed.

"And that I shall." A new voice told them, startling the five. They turned to see a doctor in his mid forties in a white lab coat.

"What was wrong with my girlfriend?" Beck asked. "Will she be okay?"

"Yes, she's going to be alright," the doctor said. "Jade has a fever of 105 degrees and she was suffering viral gastroenteritis and she was severely dehydrated."

"Oh my God," Cat whispered quietly.

"Was it serious?" Robbie asked.

"Yes, it could but with the treatment of IV fluids and medications, Jade will be just fine," the doctor pointed out.

Tori felt relieved that Jade is going to be okay. "Oh thank you God."

"Jade's alive!" Cat exclaimed happily.

"All right." Beck replied, "Is it alright if I stay with her tonight?"

"Sure." The doctor told him as he began to leave, "She'll be in room 216."

Beck led his friends up to the second floor and down the first corridor to the dyed black haired girl with the blue/green highlight's room. Jade was sleeping peacefully on her back, breathing softly.

The gang stayed in Jade's room until Andre, Robbie and Cat went home a few hours later except for Tori and Beck, who are hoping that Jade wakes up soon. Then Tori's pearphone rang and it's Trina calling her. Tori told Trina about Jade's condition which she'll be okay. Trina then wants Tori to come home so she and her parents won't get too worried about her.

"I should get home," Tori said. "Trina must be worried about me."

"Then go home and get some rest then," Beck said. "And Tori, thanks for looking after Jade. She'll appreciate you when she gets up."

Tori gave the dark-brown haired male a smile before she left the hospital room. Beck then stroked Jade's soft cheek with his finger.

"I'm so glad you're alright, babe." He whispered to her, though he couldn't hear her and he kissed her forehead, "I love you."

The next morning, Tori, Beck, Andre, Cat and Robbie took a day off from school to stay with Jade at the hospital. While she is still in an unconscious state, Jade has recovered normal and her fever is going down to 100 due to the medicine they gave her in her IV. The gang are still at Jade's hospital room while the goth girl was still sleeping.

"Jade's still not awake." Cat pouted.

"No, not yet, Cat." Robbie told her softly, yawning again, "But she'll be up soon."

Andre seemed to notice Tori's hand in Jade's, "Tori? Are you worried?"

The latina girl shook her head and tightened her grip on Jade's hand a little, "No. Just relieved."

Just then, Tori felt a light twitch under her hand and she lifted her head to see Jade's hand beginning to move. She turned to look at her face and saw her eyes fluttering open. Jade blinked a few times to clear her vision to see her boyfriend, friends and frenemy looking in awe of relief.

"Jade!" Tori exclaimed happily.

"Jade, you're up!" Cat cheered as she gently hugged her.

Jade smiled at the redhead. "Hey, you."

"Jade, you scared us." She stuttered slightly, "I'm so glad you're okay!"

Jade reached over with the arm Cat wasn't clinging to and gently rubbed her head. "I'm sorry, Cat. I wished I didn't scare you." She looked at her boyfriend, who was wearing a neutral expression, "And same goes for you, Beck. I'm sorry."

"Jadelyn August West, I should punish you by not talking to you all week for making us worry like that," Beck slightly scolds Jade but he lightens up, "but I can't. I'm too glad that you're alright to be mad at you."

She gently squeezed his hand, "I really am sorry. What exactly happened?"

"You had a fever of 105 degrees and you were suffering viral gastroenteritis and you were severely dehydrated," Tori explained. "And your fever is going down."

"That's why we barely saw you all week," Andre said.

"It's official, I hate being sick," Jade scowled while muttering her breath.

"I agree, getting very sick is no fun," Robbie commented.

Jade smiled at the gang. "I know this is going to be cheesy but I promise to make this up to both of you."

"You don't have to make this up to us, Jade," Tori said. "Just don't scare us like that again. Please."

"Yeah, Tori's right, don't do it again," Cat said.

Jade brushed Cat's hair with her fingers. "I won't scare either of you like this again. I promise." Then she sighs as she points to Tori. "Or even to you."

Both Tori and Jade smiled at each other as their love/hate relationship continues to bloom even since Jade gave her spot to Tori at the Platinum Music Awards and Tori supported Jade getting back together with Beck.

"Well, come on, the hospital cafeteria has chicken fingers," Andre pointed out. "Let's go."

"I'm up for food even for ice cream," Cat cheered.

"Surprise, surprise," Robbie chuckled at Cat's love for ice cream next to bibble.

Jade turned to Tori. "Hey, Vega, can you stay with me?"

"Yeah, I will," Tori said.

"I'll bring you some chicken fingers," Andre commented to Tori.

Beck kisses Jade on the lips before leaving with his friends. "I'll bring you some coffee, beautiful."

"Make my coffee with two sugars," Jade pointed out.

"I know what to do," Beck said as he left the room.

Now Tori and Jade are alone in the hospital room as the goth girl looked at the latina girl.

"Hey, I figured that you stayed with me the entire time," she said.

"Yeah, I was worried something serious happened to you," Tori stated. "Don't you know you really scared me to death?"

Jade sighed. "Yeah, I realized it was wrong for me and my sickness is really serious but I will pull through."

Tori touched Jade's hand. "Of course, you'll go through it, Jade, because you're the toughest girl in the world."

Jade smiled at her. "Thanks. Even though you annoy me sometimes, I am lucky to have you as a friend and you are pretty."

"And despite you making me mad all time, you're one of my favorite people I grew close to. You and Cat are like sisters to me," Tori said.

"This sounded pretty dumb and cheesy but I appreciate you a lot, Tori," Jade commented with a smile.

Then the latina girl held her arms in front of the dyed haired girl with blue/green highlights. "Come on. Give Tori a squeeze."

Then both Tori and Jade hugged as they showed some giggles and smiles.

A few minutes later, Beck peeked into the hospital room. Tori and Jade held each other close as they continued to hug. Beck smiled faintly at both of his girlfriend and closest friend. It didn't matter how crazy things they had and shared some ups and downs, Tori and Jade will always have each other as best frenemies.

The End!

Took me a few hours for one day to write that story! Go ahead and review but no being negative!
