Ok, so before i get started with the Story, this is my first Story ever that i've written. Im welcome to constructive critisism because I want to get better. Also im a full on Naruto enthusiast, so if you are expecting detailed explanations for certain things, look it up. Im only gonna describe anything if it differs from Canon. Now with that said, enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN NARUTO
The night was bitter and tense, the sky draped in dark clouds that smothered the moonlight. In the distance, Konoha's towering walls loomed, flickering with the faint glow of lanterns, while a deep, foreboding silence hung over the village. But within a secluded, heavily guarded cave far from the heart of Konoha, the silence was shattered by cries—one weak and hoarse, the other just as fragile but defiant. The cries of newborns.
Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, stood rigid, his face pale and drenched in sweat, watching over his wife, Kushina Uzumaki, who lay on a makeshift bed, her face contorted in pain and exhaustion. The birth of their children should have been a moment of joy, but this night was far from peaceful. It was a night destined to be remembered for the devastation that awaited them all.
Kushina breathed heavily, her grip tightening around the edge of the bed as she struggled to stay conscious. The red tendrils of her hair clung to her face, damp with sweat, but her fierce eyes remained locked on the two tiny forms nestled in swaddling cloths nearby.
"Minato..." Kushina whispered, her voice strained. "Naruto...and Kazumi..."
Minato crouched beside her, his hand trembling as he reached out to touch her cheek. "They're beautiful, Kushina. Both of them." His voice, usually strong and unshakable, wavered with a mixture of awe and dread. In another world, this moment would have been perfect—a family born under the protection of the Hidden Leaf. But tonight, he could feel the weight of the village's safety pressing down on him, and the presence of a monstrous chakra in the distance gnawed at the edges of his senses.
Before he could utter another word, a malicious, low growl echoed through the cave, chilling the air. Minato's body stiffened, and he shot a glance toward the entrance, where several ANBU stood guard. A surge of dark chakra rippled through the atmosphere, sending a shiver down his spine.
"Minato," Kushina rasped, her voice filled with urgency. She, too, felt it. The Kyuubi.
Suddenly, the barrier surrounding the cave quivered, and in the blink of an eye, a masked figure appeared at the entrance. His presence was cold, and his single visible eye gleamed with a dangerous intent.
"The Fourth Hokage..." The masked man's voice was calm, controlled. "I've been waiting for this moment."
In a blur of motion, the Hokage leaped to his feet, positioning himself between Kushina and the masked man. "What do you want?" Minato demanded, his heart racing, though his outward appearance remained calm.
The masked figure's gaze shifted past Minato, settling on Kushina, then the infants swaddled nearby. "I want the Kyuubi."
In an instant, everything seemed to happen at once. The masked man lunged forward, and with a wave of his hand, he ripped the newborns from their cradle, holding them by his side as if they were mere objects. Minato's heart clenched in terror, but before he could act, the man tossed Naruto and Kazumi into the air, attaching explosive tags to their blankets. Time froze as Minato's worst nightmare unfolded before his eyes.
"No!" Minato roared, his form disappearing in a flash of golden light. In a split second, he reappeared, catching both infants in his arms and teleporting them safely outside the cave. His heart raced as he looked down at Naruto and Kazumi, their wide blue eyes staring up at him, unaware of the danger that loomed.
He didn't have time to think. The masked man was after Kushina—and the Kyuubi. Minato knew what would come next.
In the Same Forrest from earlier*
Kushina panted exhausted from the Kyuubi literally having been pulled out of her. "You sure are a sturdy one Uzumaki" the masked man said "surviving having a tailed beast pulled out of you is very impressive. Unfortunatly i have to kill you now. You would mean to much trouble." the man said as he leapt forward having a Kunai ready to pierce Kushinas heart.
Before it could make contact tho, Minato appeared out of thin air, blocking the attack with one of his famous Kunai. Turning to Kushina he said "I am so proud of you Kushina. What ever happens to me, take care of the kids. Im going to take care of that man and the Kyuubi." Than vanishing again to the battle that raged on in Konoha.
Arriving atop aof the Hokage Monument he looked on towards the Kyuubi which fired a Bijudama towards the Hokage. Not planning on letting the beast bomb explode, Minato prepared his own justsu, teleporting the sphere far away where it exploded without harming anyone.
In the distance you could see a white orb out of pure energy suddenly emerge and then disappear again. A few seconds later the shockwave of the explosion hit the village like a strong wind.
Suddenly Minato was attacked from behind, but when he tried to counter his attack just went right through the masked mans body like he wasnt even there. "This is bad" Minato thought: "I guess that that jutsu is some kind of teleportation technique. And he also posseses the sharingan so hes controlling the nine tailed right now. Which means i need to take him out first."While Minato was analysing all of this the masked intruder followed a different plan. Suddenly they both were envelloped in a swirl in the air and reappeared in one of the forests surrounding Konoha. "Now you have no one to help you against me": the masked man menacingly said. "I dont need anyone against someone like you": Minato answered. "We'll see..."
Launching at each other Minato attacked but again slipped right through the others body and found himself chained in the weapon of his enemy. Quickly teleporting out of there he prepared his plan to take his foe out. Running at each other Minato simultaneously chucked his three pronged Kunai at his opponent and formed a Rasengan in his other hand. As expected the Kunai went right through the masked mans head without doing any damage. "I got him!" the masked Shinobi silently triumphed, when he grabbed into nothing and was instead slammed into the ground by the 4th Hokages Rasengan.
Without giving the Enemy a chance to resist, Minato quickly placed a restriction seal onto the foe, seperating the Nine-tailed Beast from his control.
Back in the village, the citizens of Konoha screamed as the enormous form of the Kyuubi towered over the landscape, its tails thrashing wildly, each strike causing catastrophic damage. Fire illuminated the village as buildings crumbled under the force of the demon's attacks. Shinobi from all around scrambled to contain the beast, but it was clear that the monster was beyond their control.
Minato, with both Naruto and Kazumi safely secured at a distance, returned to the battlefield, Kushina now by his side despite her weakened state. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, but her resolve remained unshaken.
"Kushina, it's too dangerous," Minato urged, his hand outstretched to stop her.
"I'm not leaving my family behind," Kushina said firmly, though her voice was hoarse from pain. She knew what needed to be done, and she would not abandon her children nor the village her husband worked so hard to protect, not even now. The Kyuubi would have to be sealed once again.
As the battle raged on, Minato's heart raced, knowing time was running out. The Kyuubi, now free from Kushina's weakening seal, rampaged through the village, its colossal tails lashing out and spreading chaos and destruction. Even as Minato and Kushina prepared to reseal the beast into their newborns, a sinister force lingered—a shadow that refused to be shaken.
The masked man, hidden in the distance, watched with cold, calculating eyes. His grip on the Kyuubi's will wasn't entirely broken. He still had influence, a dark thread of control binding the beast to his sinister intentions. Realizing his plan was on the brink of collapse, he made a final, desperate command.
From afar, his voice rang out in Kurama's mind, dripping with malice. "Kill them."
The Kyuubi's eyes blazed red as it turned its gaze toward Naruto and Kazumi, lying in their cradle, swaddled and defenseless. A low, guttural growl echoed through the air as the beast raised one of its enormous claws, preparing to strike down the newborns.
"No!" Kushina screamed, eyes wide with horror. She knew exactly what was about to happen. Despite the Kyuubi being sepperated through Minatos seal, the masked man still had enough control to force the beast to obey.
Minato moved in a flash, teleporting to the twins just as the claw came down. With a frantic urgency, he snatched the babies into his arms and leaped back. But the Kyuubi wasn't finished—it roared in fury, raising its claw again, ready to strike once more.
"Kushina!" Minato shouted, desperation flooding his voice. "We have to stop it! Now!"
Despite the agony surging through her body, Kushina pushed herself forward. Her muscles screamed, and every breath came ragged and shallow, but she refused to stand idly by. The lives of her children depended on it.
The Kyuubi's claws swung down once more, aimed straight at Naruto and Kazumi. Minato and Kushina exchanged a fleeting glance—a wordless understanding. They knew what had to be done.
In a blur, they moved as one, throwing themselves in front of their children. The Kyuubi's claw struck with a brutal force, piercing through Minato and Kushina, who shielded Naruto and Kazumi with their own bodies. Blood spilled, staining the earth beneath them. Kushina gasped, struggling to keep her strength, while Minato grit his teeth, his eyes locked on the Kyuubi.
"Naruto... Kazumi..." Kushina whispered, pain searing through her. She tightened her grip on her son, her eyes filled with tears, but her voice remained steady. "You're safe now..."
Minato coughed, blood staining his lips. He glanced up at the Kyuubi, his mind reeling. It wasn't Kurama's fault. The true enemy was the masked man, whose influence had forced this tragedy. But there was no time left for anger or regret.
"Kushina..." Minato murmured weakly, turning his head toward her. "I'm... sorry... I couldn't... stop him."
Kushina's eyes softened, despite the agony coursing through her. "Don't... apologize..." she breathed. "We... protected them..."
The Kyuubi's eyes widened. With the masked man's influence fading, its mind regained clarity. It realized what had just happened—what it had been compelled to do. A wave of sadness washed over the mighty beast, feeling the depth of the loss before it.
"No..."Kurama growled, its voice filled with anger, but also regret."This... isn't what I wanted."
Kushina's breath grew faint, and her vision began to blur. Yet, even as she hovered on the edge of consciousness, she forced herself to speak. "Kurama..." she whispered, her voice barely a murmur. "Please... watch over them... promise me..."
The giant fox's ears twitched at the plea. Despite its fearsome nature, the sincerity of her words pierced through its heart. Kurama lowered its massive head, staring at the twins lying beneath the bodies of their parents.
"I..."Kurama began, its voice trembling with an emotion it hadn't felt in centuries."I will. I will protect them. But there's something... else."
Minato, barely conscious, turned his head weakly to look at the beast. "What... do you... want?" he managed to gasp out.
"I wish to be sealed within them,"Kurama replied solemnly."Not as a prisoner, but as a guardian. Your children have a light within them—one that could change everything. I will lend them my strength, guide them, if you will allow it."
Kushina's eyes widened, hearing Kurama's words. A small, sad smile crossed her lips. "Then... do it..." she rasped, her voice faint but firm. "Be... their protector..."
With the last of his strength, Minato began forming hand seals, calling upon the remnants of his chakra. "Kurama... thank you," he whispered. "I trust you... to keep your promise."
Using what little power remained, Minato performed theEight Trigrams Seal, preparing to divide Kurama's chakra between the twins. With a final surge of energy, he sealed half of Kurama's chakra into Naruto and the other half into Kazumi.
The seal glowed brightly, and Kurama felt itself being drawn into the children's bodies. But this time, it was different. There was no hatred, no animosity. This was a sealing of mutual trust and understanding.
As the light from the seal faded, Minato and Kushina collapsed to the ground, their lives ebbing away. The battlefield fell eerily silent, save for the distant cries and murmurs of the shinobi within the village.
In the minds of Naruto and Kazumi, Kurama's voice echoed softly. "I am Kurama," it spoke gently, its tone carrying an unexpected warmth. "From this day forward, I will watch over you both. Grow strong, for we have a lot to accomplish together."
With his final breath, Minato gazed at his children one last time. "Naruto... Kazumi... live... for the future..." And then his eyes closed, his body falling still beside Kushina's.
The night would be remembered as one of great loss for Konoha. Yet, within that tragedy was the beginning of a new path for Naruto and Kazumi, who would grow with Kurama's power and guidance, forging a destiny far different than anyone could have ever imagined.
And Kurama—the Kyuubi—would honor the promise it made to Minato and Kushina, not as a prisoner, but as their children's guardian.
*5 years later*
The streets of Konoha lay quiet under the evening sky, bathed in the dim light of the setting sun. Naruto and Kazumi, just four or five years old, darted through the village, laughing and chasing each other, oblivious to the cold stares that followed them. For the two of them, this was just another game, an escape from the strange looks and whispers they never understood.
But tonight, something was different. As they ran past an alleyway, a rough voice called out behind them. "There they are!" The sudden shout caused both children to stop in their tracks, their laughter fading into confusion. They turned to see a group of villagers stepping into the street, their expressions dark and menacing.
"Look at them," one of the villagers sneered. "Running around like nothing's wrong, as if they haven't brought this village enough misery."
Kazumi's hand instinctively reached for Naruto's, her heart pounding. "Nii-san... why are they always doing this?" she whispered, fear creeping into her voice.
Naruto squeezed her hand, his own heart racing. "I... I don't know. We should go." Without waiting for a response, he tugged on Kazumi's hand and began to walk away, their small feet pattering against the cobblestones.
But the villagers didn't let them go. "Where do you think you're going, demon brats?" one of them shouted, rushing forward with a stick raised high. Naruto felt a surge of panic, and he broke into a run, pulling Kazumi along with him.
"Run, Kazumi!" he yelled as they tore down the narrow street, their small bodies moving as fast as they could. They zigzagged through alleys and side paths, trying to lose the mob that had formed behind them. The sounds of footsteps and shouts filled the air, echoing off the buildings around them.
"Don't let them get away!" a voice roared from behind. The villagers pursued them with a terrifying determination, the memory of the Nine-Tails' attack still fresh in their minds. To them, Naruto and Kazumi were symbols of the tragedy that had befallen Konoha.
Naruto led Kazumi through a series of twists and turns, his mind racing as he desperately searched for a way out. They dashed into a small market square, their eyes scanning for a place to hide. But the square was empty, the shops closed and the windows shut tight against the coming night.
"Over there!" one of the villagers spotted them, pointing to the square. The group surged forward, and Naruto knew they were trapped.
Kazumi was panting, tears beginning to well up in her eyes. "Nii-san, what do we do?" she cried, her voice breaking with fear. Naruto turned, his heart aching at the sight of his sister's terror. He had no idea what to do, but he couldn't let her get hurt.
"We have to keep running!" he shouted, grabbing her hand once more. They sprinted across the square, weaving between market stalls and overturned crates. But it wasn't enough. The mob closed in, cornering them against the wall of a dead-end alley.
"There's nowhere left to run, demons!" a villager yelled, his face twisted with fury. He brandished a club, stepping closer as the other villagers surrounded them. Their eyes glinted with anger and fear, their hands clutching makeshift weapons.
Naruto pushed Kazumi behind him, his small arms stretched out to shield her. "Leave us alone!" he screamed, though his voice trembled with fear. "We didn't do anything!"
The crowd didn't listen. "You're monsters!" one spat. "You should have been dealt with years ago!" Another villager hurled a stone at them, the rock whizzing past Naruto's ear before clattering against the ground.
Kazumi let out a frightened sob, clinging to the back of Naruto's shirt. "Nii-san, I'm scared..."
The alley seemed to close in around Naruto and Kazumi as the villagers advanced, weapons raised, and eyes filled with hatred. The children could do nothing but press their backs against the cold brick wall, their small hands clinging to each other as their fear grew.
In that moment of desperation, a surge of heat erupted from within them. Their vision blurred, the world around them growing darker. They suddenly found themselves standing in an immense cavern, cold and damp, with water pooling at their feet. A chilling, heavy presence filled the space, making the hairs on the back of their necks stand on end.
Naruto looked around frantically, his eyes wide with confusion. "Kazumi... where are we?" he asked, his voice trembling.
Kazumi clutched his hand tightly, her own eyes darting about the darkened space. "I-I don't know... but I don't think we're in the village anymore."
Before they could say another word, a low growl rumbled through the air, sending a shiver down their spines. Slowly, they turned to see a massive, shadowy form looming in front of them. Glowing red eyes glared down at them, and an enormous set of jaws curled into a sinister grin.
"Foolish humans,"the creature snarled, its voice a deep, thunderous echo."You think you can harm these children?"It was the Nine-Tailed Fox, Kurama, his massive body partially obscured in the shadows. The air around him crackled with power, making the entire cavern feel alive with energy.
Naruto instinctively stepped in front of Kazumi, trying to shield her. "Who... who are you?" he managed to ask, his voice quavering with a mixture of fear and defiance.
Kurama's eyes narrowed, glowing even more intensely."I am Kurama, the Nine-Tails,"he rumbled, his gaze shifting between the twins."I have been sealed inside both of you since the day you were born."
Kazumi's eyes widened in shock. "The... Nine-Tails?" she whispered, her mind racing as memories of the whispered rumors and hateful glares in the village resurfaced. "You're the reason they hate us."
Kurama snorted, a wisp of steam escaping his mouth."Perhaps. Or perhaps it is simply the nature of humans to fear what they do not understand."His eyes softened slightly as he looked at the children."But you are more than just containers for my power. You are the children of Minato and Kushina, and I have watched over you for years."
Naruto shook his head, anger and confusion swirling inside him. "Then why haven't you helped us before? Why let them treat us this way?"
A low growl reverberated through the cavern."Because power is meaningless if you do not know how to wield it,"Kurama replied, his tone stern."You are not yet ready to understand the forces at play, but tonight, you will get a glimpse of what you can become."
Kazumi looked up, her eyes filled with both fear and curiosity. "What... what do you mean?" she asked hesitantly.
Kurama's expression grew more serious, his tails flicking behind him."I can lend you a fraction of my power to protect yourselves,"he explained."But understand this: power comes with consequences. Use it recklessly, and you will become the very thing they fear. Use it wisely, and you may one day rise above them."
Naruto glanced at his sister, her trembling form mirroring his own fear and uncertainty. "Kazumi," he whispered, "what do you think? Can we trust him?"
Kazumi hesitated for a moment, her eyes meeting Kurama's. She could see something there—a flicker of something not entirely malevolent. Slowly, she nodded. "I... I don't know if we can trust him," she admitted. "But right now, we have no choice. We can't let them hurt us."
Naruto tightened his grip on her hand and turned back to Kurama. "Alright," he said, his voice steadying as determination replaced his fear. "If you can help us, then do it. But we won't become monsters."
Kurama let out a deep, rumbling laugh."We shall see, little ones,"he replied."Now, brace yourselves."
With those words, the cavern began to fade, and the darkness gave way to the harsh reality of the alley. Naruto and Kazumi felt a sudden rush of heat coursing through their bodies as Kurama's chakra surged out of them. Their eyes flickered red, and a crimson aura surrounded them, pulsating with raw power.
The villagers stumbled back, terror gripping them as they realized what they were facing. "The demon... it's awakening!" one of them screamed, stumbling over his own feet in his rush to escape.
As they tried to flee, suddenly there was a red flash and the last thing some of them saw, were their fellow villagers exploding in a red cloud of blood. Kurama having taken over the bodies of the siblings slaughtered the mob in a flash of hatred and anger.
The siblings not catching any of this after being led into the village by Kurama, fell asleep from exhaustion in their apartement.
The next day the siblings slept till noon and awoke with the biggest headache of their short existence. Wondering if what happened last night was real Naruto asked: "Kazu-chan did that really happen? Is there a fox inside of us?"
Before Kazumi could give a response they suddenly heard a low growling voice that made their entire body tremble:"Of course that was real! Do you think I was just a dream? That the villagers just left you alone? Ungrateful brats!" the Kyuubi pouted.
"What did you do with them...?": Kazumi asked kind of fearful."Well i killed them. It was to dangerous to let them live after they saw you use my power. Thank you by the way, that was the most fun i had in years.""What d-do you want with us?": Kazumi stuttered:"Are you gonna kill us?".
"No, of course not, why would I have saved you yesterday, if I wanted to kill you. No I want you to become stronger, to be worthy of my power, to be someone your parents would be proud of.""You knew our parents?": Naruto asked exitedly."Yes, but that doesn't matter right now. I will reveal your true heritage when you are ready for it and I deem you worthy to know."
"Ok then what do you want of us?": Naruto asked."Tell me when does this academy-thing start that you humans have?""Well jiji-san said that he would put us in the academ in about a year": Naruto answered."Ok well that is plenty of time to get you ready for it.""You want to train us!?": Naruto exclaimed exited.
"Yes but don't scream that loud, you're hurting my ears!":Kyuubi scolded him:"You don't need to speak aloud if you want me to hear, just think it. Additionally you two can hear what the other one is thinking if the other wants you two. We three basically have a three-way telepathic connection.""That's so cool": Kazumi said, now having lost her fear after realising the big Fox wasn't any danger.
"But back to training you two, we're going to start tomorrow when you two actually got some rest, the strain my chakra put on you two yesterday was extraordinary so training you two now would be to dangerous, but what you can do, is getting yourself some proper clothes and finding somewhere we can train without anyone noticing us. I don't want to imagine what the villagers would do if they knew the 'Demon-Twins' were to gain any semblance of power"."Ok then lets get to doing that, we don't have that much of the day left": Kazumi calculated after looking out the window.
With that both of them made their way into the village to buy some proper clothes, which proved more difficult than it should be due to villagers not wanting to sell anything to them or rigging the prices up to absurd heights. In the end the two of them were succesful after finding a store where the owners only recently came to the village, so they didn't have any prejudices against the two siblings. Naruto grabbed some more Orange for his closet, while Kazumi scolded him for it, arguing that if they were going to be Ninjas he'd have to wear something more stealthy.
"But Kazu-chan, thats the plan. As Furball said, if the villagers would find out we were to gain power they would kill us. For the years at the academy I will put on the disguise of a slightly stupid idiot. I will drop it sure, but I want to be strong enough to protect not only myself but most importantly you." Naruto explained lovingly."As much as I would like to kill you for the Furball, that actually sounds like a quite good plan for you Naruto.""See, even Furball agrees with me": Naruto smiled. Kurama frowned:'What did I agree to, Kushina, AND WHY DOES HE GIVE ME SAME NICKNAME YOU GAVE ME WITHOUT KNOWING YOU!'
"You know we are twins right? You're awfully sounding like you're that much older than me.": Kazumi frowned. "You know jiji-san said I'm technically two minutes older than you, right?": Naruto mocked her, earning a quite hurtful punch to the shoulder from his sister.
After picking out something for them to wear they went into the forests surrounding the village until they found a large clearing and asked Kurama if it would be fit for his purposes. The Fox looked around through them and agreed that it would suffice for the training of the two.
With that the twon retourned to their appartement on the outskirts of the village and fell asleep instantly still exhausted from the fight Kurama fought for them, but exited for the following years of training with their newfound friend.
