Homelander looked down incredulously at where Maeve once stood yesterday. He still couldn't understand what had happened. One moment, Noir was about to grab her, the next moment she fell into a portal that somehow appeared beneath her feet. He was losing control over everything. It wasn't fair.
"Homelander." He heard a voice speak to him.
Homelander fell out of his trance and looked at the doorway. It was Anika, one of the very few survivors of Deep's Crime Analytics cleanup.
"Yes, what is it?" Homelander asked.
"I've found some information that might be useful."
"What?" He said, uninterested
"I hacked the database of U.N." She told him.
Homelander was surprised by this.
"Come again?" He said.
"Not as hard as it sounds. Most IT workers around the world quit, so no one's on the other side to prevent hacking. You can see here everything the nations are discussing about the Incursion."
She handed Homelander her tablet and he smiled.
"That's good, thank you Anika." He stated.
"There's just one more thing, and I'm sorry, but it's not good. It's about Crimson Countess' death." Anika told him.
"What about that has-been?" Homelander questioned.
"It's about her killer."
Steve, Annie, and Mother's Milk stopped at a gated mansion in the outskirts of town. Captain America was using a motorcycle while Annie and MM were using a rental car. The stone walls were overrun with vines with even some of the stones becoming loose. Somehow the gate opened up and they drove up the driveway Annie and MM got a better look at the house. Annie was unfamiliar with the location, but MM seemed to know exactly where they were.
"The Payback Mansion?" MM asked, looking at the derelict mansion in front of them. The mansion itself resembled a stone castle with weeds growing around it, and some of the windows appeared to have been smashed. There was a fountain in the middle, but no water flowed out of it.
"You know this place?" Annie asked.
"I'm old enough to remember, it was Soldier Boy's own version of the Playboy Mansion. Vought abandoned the place after the team split." MM told her as they all got out of the car.
"We've set up shop here. It's far from civilization but not too far. There is plenty of space. It has a hangar and a runway." Steve told them as they walked to the door.
"You brought a jet?" Annie asked.
"Better." Steve told her.
"What about Frenchie and Kimiko?" Annie asked.
"I've sent a friend to pick them up." Steve told them.
As they walked towards the door, Annie and MM noticed costumed figures on the roof. A red demonic blur staring at them like a gargoyle and a pair, a blonde man and a younger woman with black hair, both wearing purple and carrying bows and arrows.
"Those are Daredevil and the Hawkeyes." Cap told them, gesturing on the roof.
"I heard inside doesn't smell like something died." Clint told them.
"Thanks for the heads-up, Clint. You two keep up the good work," Steve told them.
"Will do, sir!" Kate told him, a proud and enthusiastic smile on her face.
When the door opened for them, they were startled by a large bird flying by them and reaching the sky.
"Redwing!" Someone called out.
It was the Falcon, apparently a supe, wearing a white and red uniform suiting his name. The bird returned, a literal falcon who landed on Falcon's shoulder.
"Sam." Cap greeted his longtime friend.
"Steve." Sam greeted, shaking hands.
"This is Sam Wilson, the Falcon, and my friend." Steve said.
"Annie January and Marvin Milk. Where are the others?" Sam asked.
MM walked past Sam.
"Sorry about that, it's just…" Annie was about to apologize.
"Yeah, it's fine. I've been briefed about all of you, and with everything going on." Sam said.
"Butcher and Campbell have gone AWOL. The Frenchman and Miyashiro are in the hospital presently." Steve told him.
They walked past Falcon, MM looked puzzled at the falcon on the man's shoulder.
"Cool bird." He said.
"Thanks." Sam replied as he caressed Redwing's head "The power and plumbing are on. The bad news is that the smell is still kind of present." Sam told them.
"I can tell." Steve admitted jokingly.
"Ben's starting a poker game in the kitchen. Banner and Spider-Man are in the basement lab." He told her.
"There's a lab here?" Annie asked.
"Not originally." Sam told her.
Annie peeped into the kitchen and saw three men playing cards. One was a white man with black hair and long sideburns wearing a gray shirt, he was cutting the butt of a cigar with one of the metal claws coming out of his hand, the other was a bald black man wearing a yellow shirt. They looked fairly normal despite the white man's pointy hairstyle but the third player was something else, built of orange rocks, a truly hulking figure wearing a green hoodie jacket as he casually played with the other two.
"Yeah, I'm out." Luke Cage declared.
"Full house." Logan declared.
"Four of a kind!" The Thing boasted.
Logan angrily snarled as he dropped his cards while Ben happily scooped up his chips. Annie then looked into the living room and saw a shirtless meditating in the kitchen. He was blonde, looked like the typical rich kid now pushing 30, he had what Annie thought was a tattoo of a dragon on his chest.
"These are the rest of the team." Captain America said. "Wolverine, the Thing, Luke Cage, Iron Fist…" As he was about to finish speaking an enormous metal man walked in carrying boxes of food which looked like subs, pizza and Mexican food. In a flash of smoke, a blue-skinned being looking like a tailed elf appeared holding a six-pack of Molsons. "Colossus and Nightcrawler from the X-Men."
Logan came out of the kitchen, smiled at his friend and took the six-pack.
"'Bout damn time, Elf." Logan remarked, taking the beer and starting to chug the can.
Just then Annie noticed that to her surprise she was actually taller than the Wolverine, perhaps 3 or even 4 inches taller than him.
Annie was skeptical about them. She was already too familiar with superhero teams. Just then, she saw an oddly familiar figure crawling on the roof. He wore red and blue and the red was covered black webs, his mask was somewhat similar to Webweaver's. A young black man wearing blue and a red domino mask joined them followed by a girl wearing white and pink.
"And these are our younger allies." Steve said.
"You still consider me young, Cap?" Spider-Man asked. "That's very sweet."
"Spider-Man, Patriot, Gwenpool and Deadpool- -" He hesitated, he hadn't yet realized Deadpool was standing there. "Deadpool? What are you doing here?"
"I thought the corps would help me straighten out my life, sir!" Deadpool said as he saluted Captain America.
"That's not what I meant."
"So that's your whole team?" Annie asked.
Suddenly, they heard an explosion, smoke came from the kitchen and a flying figure covered in flames flew out from it as he was being chased by the Thing.
"I told you not to mess with the oven, Matchstick!" The Thing shouted.
"I was trying to fix it!"
"Johnny Storm, the Human Torch." Steve said. "Banner is still in the lab."
"That's a lot of people." Annie said. "And they're all AWOL? Why are they doing this? No fame, no paycheck."
"Because I asked them nicely." Steve said. MM wasn't convinced, if anything, being that influential among his Earth's heroes made Captain America even more dangerous. "And because they know it's the right thing."
"The way they look up to you," MM said. "Why should we believe it's any different from the way people around here look up to Homelander. Or Soldier Boy."
"Just give him a chance, MM." Annie said. "It's not easy for me either."
"I read your file, Marvin, you're a good man. I hope I can earn your trust. Now, Deadpool, how exactly did you even get on this Earth?"
"Well, it's a funny story, Sword had me and the rest of the Thunderbolts at the Peak Station when this whole thing started."
"Wait, the other Thunderbolts, they escaped too?"
"Yep."
Butcher, Hughie, Soldier Boy and Punisher were in a motel room. The room door was broken, they had to break in, figuring the owners were somewhere getting drunk one last time. The Punisher was cleaning his guns as he told his story to Hughie and Soldier Boy.
"Sword had me and my team locked up at the Peak Orbital Station. They figured I wouldn't escape from that prison. The Incursion started, the systems went down, Elektra grabbed a guard and forced him to fly her back to our Earth, Red Hulk and Deadpool just jumped off the station to your Earth. Red Hulk probably made it out without a scratch, Deadpool was probably reduced to ashes… For a while. I hijacked one of their ships, didn't know how to ride the damn thing and crashed in your version of New York."
"Aren't you concerned?" Hughie asked. "This world is going to die."
"I know how they operate, I can make it back to my Earth. I just need some help making my way around yours."
Butcher dropped a bag of food on the table in front of Soldier Boy, all he found was fruits and hot pocket food.
"What is this shit? This isn't what I asked for." Soldier Boy said. "Where's the chop sock oriental sauce?"
"About that," Hughie answered. "We tried but most places have already been looted, this was all we could find."
"Did you get anything?"
"Here we go, guv." Butcher said as he handed Soldier Boy a bottle of whisky and prescription pills.
Hughie didn't say anything but noticed a black goo dripping out his own ears.
"Man, I miss Benny's. That's how we won D-Day y'know, we were wired to the fucking gills."
"Let's have a little chat about this team-up."
"Yeah, the hell do I need a team for? The last one handed me to the reds."
"And we got you out of that little hole. We wrapped up Crimsom Countess and delivered her like a fucking christmas turkey and I even sorted Gun Powder for you."
"Am I supposed to be impressed with that? That's like killing Emmanuel Lewis."
"He grew up a bit since you last saw him."
Hughie looked at Soldier Boy's shield, he knew how heavy it was and decided to feel it. His super strength was gone, without the V24, he was back to being human.
"Hands off the fucking shield." Soldier Boy said.
"Come on, it's a whole different world now, son, and now it's ending. You want payback on the Payback before it does, and so it happens that we are experts in exterminating shitbag supes."
"Maybe." Soldier Boy admitted as he looked out the window and saw the other Earth in the sky, that was enough to make even him nervous. "What about him?" He asked, pointing at the Punisher. "What do we need this guy for? You don't even know him."
"I'm your best chance to get out of this planet before Stark and his cronies blow it up." The Punisher argued. "Your Earth is what kids call 'low-super', you won't be able to deal with what's coming."
"I can deal with it just fine."
"You sure? You know what a variant is? Or a floating timeline? The Multiverse?"
Soldier Boy's confusion lasted half a second before a smirk took its place as he replied to the Punisher.
"You made those words up." He confidently said.
"Those are real words and you need them not to get lost in this mess."
"The bloke's right." Butcher said and sat in front of Soldier Boy. "And all we ask in return is that you add one more name to the list."
"Who?"
"A right cunt named Homelander."
"I seen pictures, who is he?"
"He's the new you."
"No one's the new me, pal. But why him?"
"Let's just say you're not the only one who wants payback."
"Alright, you help me find the rest of my team, and you help me get out of this planet, and I'll help you with this Homelander."
Maeve looked up at her savior. He was a caucasian man with black hair and a goatee likely in late 40's or early 50's judging by strands of gray in his hair. He was wearing some sort of blue tunic and a large red cloak with gold trimmings on the side. On his neck was a necklace of some sort. Although Maeve was more concerned by the glowing symbols on his hands.
"Margaret Shaw?" He asked.
"Yes?" Maeve asked, still nervous.
"My name is Doctor Stephen Strange." He introduced himself by offering his hand.
Maeve got off the floor.
"What do you want?" She asked.
"We'd like you to assist us." Strange said.
The door opened revealing more men. She recognized one of them as the man from the message: Iron Man. She was unfamiliar with the four men who accompanied him.
"Reed Richards, leader of the Fantastic Four." Mr. Fantastic introduced himself offering a hand to shake.
He was a caucasian man around the same age as Stark and Strange, his temples were gray. He was wearing a blue jumpsuit of sorts with a black and white 4 emblem.
"T'Challa, the Black Panther and King of the nation of Wakanda." Black Panther greeted, he had a heavy African accent. He was wearing an all black suit with bright white eye slits that made him resemble a panther. He wore a necklace that looked to be made from big cat teeth.
"Professor Charles Xavier." Professor Xavier stated. He was a bald elderly man wearing a green suit who was sitting on what appeared to be a yellow hover chair.
"Lastly, is the King of the Inhumans Blackagar Boltagon." Strange stated. Black Bolt just simply nodded at her.
The last man appeared to be the youngest. Wearing a black outfit with white markings that went from his shoulders to his side. On the forehead of the cowl he wore appeared to be a tuning fork.
Maeve shared an unsure glance at the others
"Don't expect any words from him." Tony told her.
"You have a mute too, great."
"He's not a mute but I hope he doesn't have to say anything."
"Do you mind explaining to me who the fuck are you people?!" Maeve demanded.
The Illuminati all looked at each other. Tony was the first to speak.
"Look, I get that my message wasn't very light hearted. There was frankly no easy way of saying that we have to destroy your planet to save both of our universes." Tony said.
"We understand the immense anxiety you are facing, but we would like your assistance. Seeing as you are the first person from Earth 7622 on our world." Mr. Fantastic stated.
"7622?" Maeve asked.
"The number we designated your Earth." Reed told her.
"If you think I'm a superhero. Sorry to disappoint you, but there's no such thing." Maeve told them.
"We understand, but would you be willing to answer some questions regarding your universe?" Strange asked.
"Regarding your workplace and co-workers." Tony stated.
Maeve was silent.
"Fine, what do you want to know?" Maeve asked.
"We've read that Stan Edgar is no longer the CEO of Vought because Homelander decided to testify. We take it that he's running Vought?" Reed asked.
"Yes, he did." Maeve said.
"Does he really believe when he says he's going to save your world?" Tony asked.
"Fuck no. He knows it's over, he just can't accept it." Maeve told them.
"That tracks with what we know about him." Tony stated.
"What do you think you know about him?" Maeve asked.
"Right this might take a while. You know this place is kind of cramped, let's move to somewhere with some breathing space." Tony said.
Soldier Boy laid on bed with his remote on hand, passing by dozens of channels for a fraction of seconds each but no matter how many times Soldier Boy switched, all of them broadcasted news about the Incursion. It was only him and Hughie in the room, Hughie sat on the corner checking the radiation levels getting higher with each time Soldier Boy switched channels.
"Isn't there anything else on right now?" Soldier Boy asked Hughie.
"You can check out streaming." Hughie suggested, just to realize Soldier Boy had no idea what he was talking about. "No, that's pretty much it. They're saying the world is gonna end, that's a pretty big deal."
Soldier Boy launched the remote against the wall and shattered to smithereens. He got up and grabbed his bottle of whisky, as he drank, he checked out the window and saw the other Earth still in the sky.
"Fucking right now!?" Soldier Boy asked. "It had to happen now!? I was stuck in that hole for so long and when I finally get out the world is about to end! It's like God is laughing at me."
"Castle said the heroes from the other Earth have a plan to evacuate people from here and he can snuck us in, this is not the end."
"No, this is not the end. The end happened a long time ago when my own team stabbed me on the back and sold me out. After all did, all I went through, I came back and I'm forgotten by my country! The country I fought for!" Soldier Boy cooled down and sat in front of Hughie "I used to want to settle down, y'know? Retire, have a family. With Countess, ain't that a bitch? And now everything I knew is gone, and what is still here is going to hell with the rest of this planet."
"Listen, maybe you should get your priorities straight. If the world is going to end and you won't be able to get out, maybe it's not really worth spending your last days going after- -"
"Oi, oi." Butcher said as he and Punisher entered the room. "I got some bad fucking news and some good news."
"You're bleeding." Hughie said.
"Not ours. Got an address, the Twins were at Vermont but they got out after the most eventful news in human history came out."
"That doesn't make any sense. It's the whole world, where would they run to?"
"They're fucking morons." Soldier Boy explained. "Probably think they'll be safe if they got somewhere they can't see the other Earth."
"They're in Canada." Punisher said. "We don't know what they're doing there but there's this empty big piece of land they bought for a dollar after the Incursion started. Canadian border patrol is out, we can get there easily.
Everybody went to pack their things, but Butcher pulled Hughie aside and spoke to him in private.
"Hughie, it sounded like you were trying to convince our new associate not to help us."
"I didn't mean to. But come on, things are different, you heard what Castle said, this happened before and everytime it did, his Earth survived and the other one blew up. If we don't make it out, do you think he should spend the end of the world going after his old team? Do you want to spend it going after Homelander?"
"If anybody is going to get a spot out of this blue ball is Homelander. He won't stay here and die with the dumb cunts who follow him. I can't let that happen. We need to avenge Becca, to avenge Robin. It's our last chance, lad, let's make it happen."
Frenchie was in the hospital room with Kimiko when he received a call from Cherie.
"Hello?" He asked.
"Where are you? Haven't you heard?" She asked, her voice full of concern.
"You will have to specify there's been a lot of shit lately." Frenchie stated.
His text notification went off, Cherie sent him an article from VNN:
"Russian Mob Boss, Nina Namenko, slain in gang shooting."
Frenchie was overcome with emotions, joy, but also fear.
"She's dead!" Frenchie said smiling.
"Almost all of them." Cherie said.
This got Frenchie's attention. The world was about to end, so he theorized the rival gangs were all going to kill each other just to claim dominion until the world ended.
"Albanians?" Frenchie asked.
"No, witnesses say it was just one man."
"A supe?" Frenchie asked.
"Either that or the fucking Terminator." Cherie told him.
Frenchie turned to Kimiko.
"What's going on?" She texted.
"Someone just massacred Nina's gang." Frenchie told her.
Just then a man burst through the door pointing a gun at them. The man looked completely haunted in his eyes. Frenchie recognized him.
"Yevgenny wait." Frenchie pleaded.
"That man shot up the deli. Nina's dead. As is everyone else, all except me." Yevgenny told them.
"I didn't…" Frenchie told him.
"Замолчи!" He yelled at them. "That man was too good for any hired gun. Where'd you and your friend get him? CIA, Marines, Special Forces?" He asked.
"I don't know who he was. Put the gun down, mon ami. You really think you can get away with killing two people in a crowded hospital." Frenchie stated.
"I think I can. The whole world is gonna end before they trace back to me. You're just leaving a little earlier, Sergei." The gangster told him.
Just as he was about to fire someone grabbed the muzzle of the gun just as it was about to fire and crushed it like paper. Surprisingly the man's hand was alright. He tore the gun out of his hand. When Yevgenny pulled out a knife the man simply grabbed his arm with one hand and broke it with the other. Their savior was with brown hair, blue eyes, and five o'clock shadow. He wore a coat and gloves on his hands.
"Kimiko Miyashiro and Serge?" He asked them.
"Yes." Frenchie said.
"I'm here to get you out of here, call me Bucky." He said.
Maeve followed the Illuminati to their conference room. They all sat down at their seats, Maeve noticed that one seat was absent. The Illuminati looked at the seat with disdain. The distaste they had for their missing member was apparent to Maeve.
"Explain." Maeve told them.
"Right." Reed said as he pressed a button. Displaying a holographic projection of their Earths.
The hologram displayed the Seven having a battle with a group of supervillains and losing badly. The Deep lost his arm, Stormfront was stomped on by a giant woman and Maeve was mauled by a feline woman. Even Homelander was beaten to a bloody pulp.
"None of this happened to us." Maeve said.
"This isn't you, what you're seeing is Earth Seven. It used to be identical to your universe until something made your history diverge." Reed stated. "The Multiverse is an infinite number of alternate realities. Some are very similar to our own and others very different. A universe very similar to your own had a multiversal encounter with a universe different from our own." Reed stated.
The hologram displayed a group of superheroes who looked similar to the Seven.
"The heroes of this world, which they refer to as Earth One, had an event with a universe they called Earth Seven."* Reed stated.
(These are the events of our other fanfic "The Boys - Real Justice", a crossover between the show and the DC universe. You do not need to read it to understand this one)
"So they had to blow up that one?" Maeve asked.
The others' faces turned solemn.
"No, some universes have differences with their laws of physics." Reed stated.
"The Justice League, their equivalent of the Seven, are actual heroes. They took it upon themselves to help Earth Seven not just from Homelander, but their enemies as well." Xavier stated.
"Homelander was quite a nuisance to the League." T'Challa said.
Maeve felt shivers as she saw holograms of Homelander in a yellow suit leveling up New York with some kind of energy ring.
"You know he'll do something similar." Maeve stated.
"Indeed, his mental state on this Earth is even worse." T'Challa said.
"He has attracted some heavily volatile followers from what we can tell. If we take any direct action against him they'll put others at risk." Xavier said.
"I know Homelander. When shit hits the fan he'll try to get to your world." Maeve stated.
"Except, he might not feel as welcomed, if he learns more about our world." Tony said.
"What do you mean?" Maeve asked.
For the next couple of minutes, Maeve was informed about the nature of 616. From certain events such as the first two Superhuman Civil Wars. Then, she was told about how there were different kinds of superhumans: mutants, inhumans, and enhanced humans. Xavier, who was a mutant, told her about the persecution they faced. At first she didn't believe it until she was shown all sorts of clips of mutants being attacked by angry mobs, slandered by politicians, and even hunted down by giant robots called Sentinels. Finally, she was told about how one of their top heroes, Captain America went rogue. Apparently, taking other heroes with him.
"And he's also not going to like the fact that he'll no longer be the big fish in the pond." Strange added.
"You're telling me there are people here capable of defeating Homelander?" Maeve asked.
"Several. In fact, I've calculated that the five of us could defeat or at the very least harm him on our own." Reed stated.
"So fucking do it." Maeve remarked.
Tony let out a snort as Reed tried to process what she said.
"Look I know that this is a very heavy situation and you've given us some helpful information." Tony stated.
"You're planning on evacuating the world. I want the first seat out." Maeve asked.
"You'll have it." Tony said.
"And if I refuse to help?" Maeve asked.
Something appeared on Maeves' lap. It was a citizenship certificate.
"You're free to go." Tony stated.
"I'll listen." Maeve said.
"Good, the summit is another hour." Tony stated.
Homelander, Ashley, Anika, and Black Noir gathered behind the Deep as he failed to operate a computer.
"Deep…" Homelander almost shouted before cooling down. "Just let Anika operate this thing."
"I was gonna wait for her but Ashley told me to play it already." He replied, to Ashley's distaste.
Anika played the Security footage from Crimson Countess' Chimpanzee sanctuary. Their hearts all sank as they saw the culprit flee the scene: Soldier Boy.
"Soldier Boy…" Homelander said, shocked.
"No, that's impossible, he died like forty years ago." The Deep said.
"Someone's cosplay?" Ashley suggested.
"But his face, it's him." Homelander told them.
"Or maybe CGI." The Deep brought up.
"That's not how CGI works." Anika muttered under her breath.
"He doesn't even know what CGI stands for." Ashley said.
"Stands for blow me."
"Where has he been? Why did he kill Crimson Countess? They were practically like Kurt and Goldie." Ashley stated. "You know what. You know what. This is fine, we'll dominate the media cycle…" Ashley said before Anika spoke up.
"Forgive me for interrupting Miss Barrett, but if word gets out that Soldier Boy is alive that would sink the company's reputation." Anika said.
"She's right. If word gets out that Soldier Boy hero of heroes is alive and the one who blew up midtown, do you know what that could do to me?" Homelander told her.
A realization came to Homelander.
"Oh my god, if word gets out the companies fucked, I'm fucked." Homelander quietly admitted as he started to pace. "Oh god why is all of this happening to me? It's not fair. It's so not fucking fair."
An idea came to him.
"Alright, I'll kill him." Homelander said, he pointed at Anika.
"You bury the footage. I don't want any piece to get out." Homelander told her.
"Already done." Anika said as she deleted the footage.
"Good, Noir, you're with me." Homelander told Black Noir, who managed to regain focus.
Homelander and Noir left the room.
"I don't really appreciate you big leaguing me." The Deep told Anika.
"I'm sorry, sir, but I've been quite overworked." Anika said.
"You'd better because next time…" The Deep said.
"And this next time, who would replace me?" Anika asked.
"What?" The Deep asked.
"Who do you have to replace me?" Anika repeated, asking each word as if they were their own question.
"Me." The Deep said.
"Oh, so, you do know how to work this?" Anika asked.
"Yeah, of course I do. Watch." The Deep said as he took over her seat.
He looked down at the keyboard almost like a Neanderthal would.
"You just have to… Uh…" The Deep said, trying to figure it out. He was about to press a button.
"Don't press that button." Anika told him.
The Deep looked up at her contemplating whether or not he should. He pressed it and soon a number of error messages sprung up on the monitors. The Deep left the room in a panic as Ashley returned to her post and managed to fix the errors.
All the while, Ashley looked at Anika. She seemed different. Maybe it was the stress.
Balkans, Earth 616
Prince Namor rose from on the shore, he was followed by blue-skinned Atlanteans but with one gesture, they stopped and let him go by himself. Namor clapped his little wing and flew towards Latveria, during his flight, he stared at Earth 7622 in the sky, he knew something had to be done. He arrived in Latveria and entered the Doomstadt unharmed, as he had expected. A halloweenish figure flew to the Doom Castle just as Namor arrived. The Green Goblin arrived on his glider at the same place Magneto landed. From a flash of green smoke, the God of mischief arrived. Loki Laufeyson was covered from head to toe in a golden and green skin-tight piece of Asgardian wardrobe, only his pale face with no eyebrows exposed under his long golden horns."Doom welcomes you all." Dr. Doom said as he joined them. "Especially you, Namor, I feared you would join Richards' sentimental march for peace between worlds."
"It's useless." Namor said. "Atlantis is under a serious threat, I can not waste time with a planetary evacuation of 8 billion of them, by the time they do it, we'll all be dead."
The Green Goblin laughed. His laugh was immediately recognizable, his eyes grinned with him under the yellow lenses of his green mask.
"What do you laugh at, Norman Osborn?" Loki questioned.
"Oh, the irony, the great irony that we are the ones who are going to save the world." The Green Goblin said.
"I never doubted that." Magneto said. "Charles could never do what must be done."
"Yes," Doom spoke as he entered back to Doomstadt, followed by his allies. "The Cabal will save the world. It has always been our burden, to be capable of doing what must be done."
