Author's Note: I have never really written anything like this before, but I've always been told I'm quite talented when it comes to creative writing, so I thought I'd give it a shot. If you see ANY flaws, be sure to let me know, I can't improve if I'm not told what I'm screwing up. Also, fair warning, there will be swearing, but there will be no Sex scenes (Though I may imply it or make jokes about it from time to time) Basically what I'm saying is the story is written at my own liberties and if you don't like it… Well I really don't care and I'll keep writing what I want to write. Also I'll be using the pairings I used in my personal save of Awakening, not that you'll get to see them all very often
With that out of the way, let's begin!
Summary: When some of Ylisse's Finest find themselves trapped in a world not their own, with technology beyond their comprehension, and nuclear radiation around every corner. Will they survive the horrors of post war Boston? Or will the Wasteland of the Commonwealth claim their lives as it has done to many others before.
Chapter 1: The Outrealm Gate
The rhythmic noises of boots on stone as the Shepherds approach the Outrealm Gate seems to dim as Robin looks on to the giant stone archway ahead.
'I still don't get why Chrom insists we take a trip to the Hotsprings Anna mentioned while we're in the middle of a war. Sure we may not be actually fighting, but every moment we have should be focused on taking Grima down, not soaking in water'
Robin was lost in this train of thought that he didn't notice the army stopping ahead of him, which results in him having a nice candid conversation with Chrom's back. Looking onward, Robin sees that they've arrived at the Outrealm Gate. He might never get over how beautiful this looks, the large stone archway with what looks like a mystical blue light coming from within it.
"Well, is everyone ready to enter? We have a nice few days of R and R ahead of us" Chrome spoke loudly and confidently, which made the tactician smile a bit, Robin always thought Chrom knew how to carry his voice well, which is to be expected when you're the Exalt of Ylisse.
A host of voices responded to Chrom's answer, all saying yes in some manner of speaking. To these voices Chrom nodded and wordlessly strided through the outrealm Gate. His wife, Olivia, followed in right next to him, though Robin can't help but wonder if she entered with Chrom because she was nervous to enter without him. Lucina and Inigo entered after, most silent. Robin followed after, not paying attention to the order of people entering after. When they all passed through, they got the expected sight of portals on each side, going down what looks like an infinite large hallway. However, what they didn't expect was a group of Grimleal standing in their way, almost as if they were waiting for them.
"Damn, how long were the Grimleal waiting for us? Shepherds to arms!"
Chrom's cry was answered with the drawing of steel, and the Grimleal wasted no time in attacking. The Shepherds were still disorganized, something Robin immediately went to work on fixing,
"Donnel, Kellam, Frederick, Sully, Kjelle, and Stahl, I need you to act as our front shield. Virion, Ricken, Miriel, Laurent, Noire, and Sumia, I need you to use your arrows and Magic to thin their ranks. Lucina, Inigo, Lon'qu, myself, and Say'ri will guard the right flank, healers in the middle and stay away from combat, everyone else on the left flank, go!"
Just as clockwork, the Shepherds began to move, and the Grimleal began to fall. Robin noted the Grimleal's casualty rate, and subconsciously thought they were going down a little quickly for followers of Grima. None of the other Shepherds really paid any attention, just moving forward as a wedge.
"Ha Robin, these Grimleal are no match for my sword hand!"
"Owain could you stop talking about you hand and focus on th-"
That was as far as Robin got before everything went black.
Robin slowly groaned and looked up, he must not have been unconscious for long, as there was still smoke in the air from the blast, Robin looked up to see several mages who had been lying in wait.
'Damn, I knew this was going too well'
As Robin slowly started getting up, he was forced to his knees again as a bolt of arcthunder pierced his shoulder. However he heard Chrom call from somewhere ahead of him.
"Robin! Take a team and use that teleportation tome of yours, get to an outrealm, get us help, hurry!"
As much as Robin wanted to argue, there was no point, that blast had been strong and the Shepherds were so closely packed together that they all were hurt pretty badly. They couldn't fight in this State, looking around him, the only ones left near him after everyone got thrown in the blast was Stahl, Gaius. Lucina, and Severa. Robin nodded to Chrom, before reaching into his coat and grabbing a tome, and whisked himself and those near him away to a nearby outrealm.
However, considering the fact that teleportation is hard, Robin having barely used it, and the fact you weren't supposed to Teleport in the Outrealm gate. When the five Shepherds reappeared, they were far out of sight of the others. Gaius was the first to ask the question that was on everyone's minds.
"Robin… How far away did you send us from the others?"
"Yeah, Gods Robin I thought you were supposed to be good with magic"
Robin didn't have an answer, instead just looked around, though Severa's comment hurt a little, he was particularly good and not letting anything as small as words affect him or how he carried himself. You couldn't go about making decisions that decided the fate of others while emotionally blinded afterall. Though that simply led him down another train of thought, asking himself why he was so cold, his answer never seemed to satisfy himself, like there was another reason. He didn't stay distracted for long, steeling himself and looking around.
"Chrom needed us to find another outrealm and bring back reinforcements, we better not keep him waiting, can everyone walk on their own?"
Seeing as Gaius was the only one who stood up without a grunt of pain, Robin knew this likely wouldn't be good, sure enough, Himself, Lucina, Severa, and Stahl all had pretty good limps.
"Thought so, you all take this Elixir, it'll be enough to get you back to full strength, I'm sure I'll be able to manage."
Before anyone could protest, Robin passed the Elixir around. Lucina first, who cautiously took her dose, Severa who angrily glared at Robin as she drank hers, and Stahl giving Robin a thumbs up as he downed the rest of the bottle.
"Alright, all good? Lets keep it simple and go through the outrealm here, we just need some reinforcements right?"
Luckily, the others nodded, as Robin turned, and walked forward into the shimmering blue portal.
Authors Note: so Usually the author's note will go at the end, but after just finishing this first chapter, I'm not sure I deserve the high praise I've always gotten, it seems pretty mediocre to me, though I guess that could be a side effect of always being more critical of your own work. Anyway, the first few Chapters will probably come out really fast as they're the ones I have any sort of plan for at the moment.
