That guest lol: "Nice chapter, liked the bit of action in it, also I think it's really cool that you answer all the comments and questions people have at the beginning of every chapter. Thanks for that :D

Question 2: When is Adam finally gonna stop holding back his potential? I'm quite sure that it's gonna happen during the mission at that juvenile detention center, but it's almost frustrating when i'm rereading some chapters with the extra knowledge of what events are going to happen next. Honestly, it almost feels like it's only a matter of time until Adam's world is flipped upside down because he refuses to use the tools he has to get stronger.

Truly, the mark of an amazing author to make a reader feel that invested in a character's future. (PS. thanks for the sneak peak bro)"

Thank you for your compliments! I don't respond to them all, only the ones on the latest chapter, but I get what you mean; and no problem! I always love responding to your and melone's reviews.

For your question, it depends on what you think holding back his potential is. I definitely have him improving, but if you're expecting something like a huge jump from his current level to Shinjuku Yuta's level, you'll be very disappointed; the rate of growth he has is already explosive when you consider it from an in world perspective, especially when it comes to the chapters you haven't seen yet.

Your frustration is shared with a couple of other reviewers I've seen, and I'm glad! It's exactly what I was going for!

When you see Adam's development from here on out, I'm sure you'll be especially happy when that world flip comes around; because at the rate he's going, his ego might carry him into a ceiling fan with how inflated it is!

I'm glad you enjoyed the sneak peek, it was just a little something I added to prove that I'm actually up to that part on my pa-treon.

Melone71009: "Not Too much ten shadow but too little about the dorm food thing kinda cool"

Gonna be honest, I'm not quite sure what you meant here. Not too much ten shadows action? That's definitely true, but mainly because I find it super hard to write fights with tons of combatants, which is why I split them up. You'll be sure to see more of them though as the story progresses, especially with Megumi being stronger than in canon with all of these extra shadows.

The dorm food stuff was a little extra something to show the closeness between Adam and Fushigoro and the friendship they share. His (Fushigoro's) food tastes are taken directly from the databook, btw!

That's all for the reviews, please enjoy this chapter!

He won.

Adam groaned in annoyance while scanning the message he'd just received from his teacher.

"Hey, we're here. Where are you at?"

"Come to this address instead."

The white haired boy pocketed his phone, resolutely deciding he'd never wager against Fushigoro again. He glanced up at the rusty gates in front of him, one being tied to the other with what seemed to be a rusted bike lock.

Without an ounce of hesitation, Adam slashed through the lock with his spear and tugged the entrance open. A loud screech echoed throughout the street as the sun damaged bars of the gate scraped across the floor. "I'm so glad this place is abandoned, a noise complaint would put a hole through my wallet."

It was nearing 7:00 pm, the exact time his mission was supposed to begin. A window reported that there was a strong curse using the abandoned house in front of him as a playground to lure its victims into, pretty stock standard stuff; there weren't many curses that attacked the public during the day. The only thing not standard, was the report itself.

The building in front of him was not a house, it was a manor. It was by far the biggest place he'd seen during his stay in Japan, including the pagoda he frequented. 3 stories of once beautifully decorated clay walls filled with murals of ancient legends coated the outside of the building, each one stretching for at least 300 feet in either direction. The paint of said murals had long since started to flake off, leaving cracked pale surfaces behind.

Every single window was smashed in, not a single frame hanging onto either a stray shard or fragment of glass that could possibly impede someone jumping through one. Despite that, the darkness would not allow the sorcerer in training to see inside without him first getting closer, something he was not going to do until he had investigated the gigantic labyrinth of dead shrubbery that separated his current position from the entrance of the manor itself.

Charcoal colored tiles stretched for what seemed like infinity across the roof, each one carrying what seemed like minimal damage from afar. Above the endless rows of tiles laid a tall row of rusted bars carrying intricate metal work between each column.

"I'm going to punch the shit out of whichever window reported this." Adam growled, stepping into the manor's grounds with an annoyed frown. "The amount of space here alone would require at least 4 sorcerers to search fully!" He exclaimed, ignoring the shiver that went down his spine as he kicked a rock into the dead shrub on his left. "I can't even use my normal strategy either."

Due to the size of the investigation area, his cursed energy wouldn't act as nearly as much of an effective lure as it usually did. With a quiet huff, Adam began to survey the area for residuals. Surprisingly, there were dozens of odd, misshapen footprints dotted around the area, each of which unique or different in their own way. That meant one of two things; this curse was extremely proficient in transforming itself, probably as a means to draw in victims, or this was a nest.

First option, not so bad. He might have to fight his parents or someone like Fushigoro, easy stuff. Second option, pain in the ass. By his count there were at least 200 unique marks in just the area around him, not a small amount.

Cursed spirit nests, or curse nests, were areas where dozens of weak curses like to pile up and hide in. Each curse usually ranged from around grade 4 to grade 2 and maybe, very rarely, there could be a grade 1 or a special grade curse acting as a 'boss'. It was for that exact reason that Adam had a bad feeling.

The report stated that the window had seen one curse hanging on the outside of the building like a budget King Kong. If only one curse was showing itself, then it was obvious there was a high grade one ruling over the weaklings in the area. With another groan of annoyance, Adam reached into his pocket for his phone, only to find it missing.

A quiet, but warped giggle came from behind him. The boy's head whipped around only to see a rather odd sight; three curses, tiny blue ones shaped like grapes with arms and feet with little tufts of fur acting as their stem, were stacked on top of each other like little cans. The top one was holding onto his phone, carrying it like a plank as the stack wobbled and wavered due to the mass; Adam snatched his phone out of its hands with a scoff, earning a pair of childish sneers from the top two in return.

With a light flick, he knocked the top one off of the stack, sending the entire pile to the ground like a trio of bouncy balls. They rolled for several centimeters before getting back to their feet with shared scowls. Adam ignored them in favor of sending a message on his phone to his teacher. Before he could hit the send button however, one of the tiny curses shot from the ground and headbutted the phone out of the boy's hand, knocking it towards its compatriots who were waiting on the ground.

Adam growled in annoyance as the waiting curses caught his phone and began to zip off towards the manor. "Get back here you–" Adam noticed the remaining curse sitting on the ground tepidly, supposedly waiting for something. The curse looked up at him expectantly, and the boy blinked owlishly back. With an annoyed sigh, Adam snatched the curse off the ground and raced towards the manor. It made itself comfortable in his collar, hanging tightly onto his school pin as the boy ran into the manor.

The floors were completely rotten, each plank a disgusting black color that coated the soles of his boots like a bad smell. Small puffs of dust accompanied every step he took as he ran through the manor, focusing in on the tiny dots that resembled the grape spirit's twin's feet so he could get back to his phone to send that message.

Adam twisted around a corner a bit too sharply, sending the grape sized curse flying out of his collar before he snatched it from the air with a gentle hand. He blew out a sigh of relief and placed the curse back in his collar before a scowl snapped onto his face, "what the hell am I doing!?" He screamed, the noise causing more dust to fly off of the walls in a bid to escape the crazy sorcerer in training. A warped snicker coming from his collar caused his attention to become solely focused on the origin of the noise. "I'm glad you find this funny, you little bastard." He growled before turning his focus back to the tiny footprints that were leading down the hall.

His tracking was stopped once again by a curse, this time not the one currently occupying his collar. A large yellow hand stretched across the width of the hall, each of the fingers having the width of Adam's entire torso. The boy barely shifted his focus from the tracks on the ground as he shoved the tip of his spear into the palm of the hand, sending it flying through the wall behind it with a new ring shaped hole; surprisingly, a body didn't follow. Adam didn't pay any mind to it as he continued to run, determined to find his phone before the curses either broke it or found something that will.

Adam faced 14 more curses as he ran through the first floor of the building; he had no difficulties cleaving through every single one with a strike or slash from his spear. The curse in his collar didn't seem to care about the fact its brethren were being slain, but curses weren't exactly known to get along anyway.

The boy turned another corner, and finally found the curses he was looking for. Each one had its little padded fingers tapping on the black screen in wonder, seemingly enjoying the fact they could see themselves. Before they could run away again, Adam snatched up his phone and turned it back on–only for it not to respond.

"Y-You damn…" Adam felt his veins bulge as the grape curse twins in front of him flinched back. "You ran out my battery you fuckwits!" His head didn't even turn as he swung his fist back in a cursed spirit's face, the impact causing a shower of black sparks to scatter across the hallway.

"And of course I hit a black flash on a fucking grade 3 curse." Adam growled in frustration. "What the hell even is my life!?" With a swift hand, he snatched up the remaining grape twins and shoved them into his collar. "Stay right there." He spat before beginning to walk away.

Adam spent 30 more minutes roaming the first floor, killing any curses he could find, before he entered the second story. Of course, as soon as his foot escaped the bounds of the final step, he was alerted to over 40 curses poised to attack him.

The grape curses held on for dear life as Adam's jacket fluttered and thrashed due to his movements. His spear embedded itself into a curse on his right, the amplified force making the curse's entire body explode in a cloud of ash that was quickly banished when Adam shoved his fist into another curse's face. When one curse attempted a sneak attack, one of the grape curse's squealed in terror, thinking it was trying to attack it; Adam swiftly dealt with that one via a midnight colored sparking fist.

Chance of activating: 2.02%

As what could be considered the pinnacle of jujutsu for some was thrown around like a dog toy within Adam's grasp, curses began to scatter and run; none of them got very far. The white haired boy stabbed, slashed, punched or kicked anything that got in his way as he tore through the halls of the manor.

By the time Adam cleared the third, another 2 hours had passed. During these 2 hours, several things happened; 1, he killed over 130 curses, 2, Gojo and the second years arrived, and were looking for Adam, and finally 3, the boss of the cursed nest realized something was wrong. Despite this, not a single one of the three parties on the manor's grounds encountered each other.

Adam kicked open the door to the roof with a loud cry of 'finally' before stepping out onto the concrete panels that made up the roof's floor. Cement colored tiles covered the entire roof space neatly, only stopping for a slightly raised lip near the bottom of the fence surrounding it. There was no moss or signs of wear on the floor except for the stray crack or two that could've been caused by anything; a far cry from the dilapidated interior he'd been experiencing for the last 3 hours. In fact, now that he had a closer look at the bars surrounding the roof, he could clearly see they were just black, not rusted or heavily weathered like he'd once assumed.

On the far side of the roof, over 300 feet away, sat a gargantuan curse with sky blue skin and brown spots littering its body. It had 6 arms, each of which was covered in a thick brown coat of fur, and 2 stubby legs which had no fur. On top of its head was a large cowlick of brown fur, and nothing else; it was bald, except for one comically sized cowlick that curled in on itself due to the weight. Its entire torso was covered in fur of the same color, except for its collarbone area where the spots lay. The obvious similarities between the curses curled around his neck and the one in front of him were lost on the boy.

"I'm glad I found you, your minions were starting to annoy me with how weak they were." Adam said confidently, striding forward with his spear in hand. The three curses in his collar all began to wrap themselves in his hair in order to hide, something they failed miserably at.

The curse boss didn't respond, merely opened its mouth and let out a large croak. Adam rolled his eyes, but got into a stance anyway, recognizing the threat in front of him as a serious one. Despite most of his missions containing intelligent curses, it was a true and proven fact that most curses didn't carry much in terms of intelligence, mainly relying on instinct or raw cursed energy amounts to win fights.

Another croak echoed from the spirit's throat, this time followed by an extremely large glob of water that was hurled in Adam's direction. The boy leapt backwards, not wanting to test whether it was truly water or not; he was right to do so, as the concrete where he'd been standing began to dissolve and liquify; a look of panic crossed the spirit's face as it spat a ball of liquid into its hands and raced over to the bubbling puddle. "I see, so that's how it is!" Adam's quick thinking allowed him to immediately discern the spirit's cursed technique.

"You can spit up acid of varying strengths, isn't that right?" Adam landed on the ground with a soft thud, "but you're also a bit of a clean freak, aren't you? which is why your area is perfectly polished!" The curse turned its head to look at its adversary, only to be met with a golden tipped spear heading for its eye. Only its instincts allowed it to slightly raise its head, just enough for the weapon to instead embed itself in the spirit's cheek before its cursed technique activated.

The spirit rocketed across the stone in the form of a sky colored ball, immediately stopping as it slammed into the steel fence that surrounded the roof's edge. It tried to tear the spear out of its face and throw it off of the building, only for it to be pulled back to the boy via a dark blue thread. "Nuh uh, this one's mine." Adam chided, stalking towards the curse with a devilish grin.

"Do you think he sent you to the wrong location again?" Gojo glanced at the sentient panda, fittingly named Panda, that was standing by his side. The blindfolded man shook his head in response.

"I checked with the principal, he should be in this building." The strongest sorcerer watched his green haired female pupil hold up a slashed bike lock in front of her glasses.

"You said he carries a blade, right?" The cold tone she usually carried was on full display as she swung the broken lock around her finger a few times. "This was certainly damage done by one."

"Salmon." The remaining student agreed. He was a platinum blond with brown eyes and straight hair that went down to the middle of his ears.

"Unlike the rest of you, I can't sense cursed energy, so do you mind explaining what's going on in there?" Maki asked, earning a distant nod from her previous mentor.

"From what I can see, there's about 60 or so curses running about." Gojo explained calmly. He slowly walked past the second year students and led them inside. "There were definitely more, but it seems Adam has been busy." Inumaki, the platinum blond, walked past his mentor and pointed at a particular set of boot tracks on the ground. "Yeah, those are his." Gojo's covered eyes drifted upwards towards the manor itself. "I guess he went inside. We should link up with him."

"Are you sure he isn't dead?" Maki asked coldly, "You said he's rated grade 3, right? Dealing with that many curses is a death sentence for someone like that, no matter the level of the enemies."

Gojo waved her off with a lazy hand. "He'll be fine, he's strong." Maki still seemed skeptical, but Panda was practically vibrating at her side with excitement, something she couldn't help but crack a small smile at.

"Oh, I'm so excited! I wonder what he's like, do you think he's good friends with Fushigoro?" Panda spat out questions at random, interrupting anyone who tried to answer with a 'no spoilers!'

By the time they'd made it to the second floor, their shoes were all covered in thick coats of ash from dead curses, a pattern that seemed like it was going to continue just based off of the first hall they'd entered. At that point, the second years had only intercepted one or two curses, both of which were actively running away from something for some reason.

When they crossed the barrier into the third level, Panda couldn't help but ask the question he'd kept to himself since seeing the fleeing curses. "Is he some kind of demon?" His feet were growing blacker and blacker by the minute from the amount of soot on the ground. Gojo merely laughed off his question with another lazy wave.

"He's probably just annoyed." When all he received were questioning gazes instead of the affirmative responses he expected, Gojo decided to elaborate. "Adam uses investigations and missions as stress relief. He's the type of guy that bottles up all of his emotions before exploding randomly, but that's been getting better lately; at my expense." He remembered the half dozen pranks he'd been subject to in just the past 48 hours, some of which were just cruel. Like embarrassing him in front of his precious second years!

"That's not very healthy." Maki commented, turning her attention towards the end of the hall where a still dissolving curse was dismembered. "He certainly doesn't seem to hold back."

"Salmon." Inumaki affirmed.

"Oh, he is." Gojo chuckled, jumping at the opportunity to show off one of his new students. His coworkers hadn't appreciated the boy's strength and potential as much as he wanted them to, but perhaps his students would be another story. "If he put everything he had into his strength, he probably could've just knocked this building down in its entirety; if you give him a little while, at least."

"Uh huh, sure." Maki's eyes rolled in their sockets at the obvious overestimation of her underclassman's abilities. As her shoes hit another pile of decaying ash, she let out a sigh. "Couldn't he at least be a little more clean about this?"

Panda seemed to wholeheartedly agree with her sentiments from the way he began to nod. "It's going to take me weeks to get this out of my fur!"

"It'll dissolve." Maki corrected immediately, "it's still annoying for the moment though." Gojo chuckled lightly at the girl's complaints, turning the final corner to the roof as he did so.

"He should be up here if I sensed correctly. It seems like he's fighting a grade 1 curse; and doing quite splendidly." The man chirped happily, waltzing towards the door that had been kicked off of its hinges with a smile.

The second years followed behind him with apprehensive thoughts. From what they'd seen so far, the kid they were meeting was a brutal sadist who liked to vent his anger on the things around him through violence; not exactly a good first impression to make.

'I guess Blindfold's theory about the chance doubling was correct.' Adam thought calmly, glancing back at the spear he'd placed on the ground earlier in the fight.

He'd decided that he wanted to get his hands dirty today, especially after all of the annoyance the cursed spirits in the manor had caused him. As the boss of the place, this curse had to take responsibility, right? That was why Adam was making it last a while.

It was clear it wasn't fast or smart enough to hit him with its acid, and it always dropped its guard in order to clean up if it missed, allowing him a free hit; which happened to be a black flash some of the time.

With his slowly rising chances, Adam had wanted to see if it would get to 100%. Therefore, he was intentionally pulling his punches so the fight would last longer; a 2.5x multiplier didn't mean much if you put barely any strength behind it.

While the boy was thinking, another glob of acid was shot his way. He didn't even bother looking as he leaned backwards to dodge it, allowing the curse to blitz past him and begin cleaning the mess as soon as it hit the ground.

Due to the curse's current occupied status, Adam scored a free hit by slapping it across the face with a cursed energy empowered hand. He watched with grim satisfaction as the hand sparked black for a moment before the attack landed, sending the curse rolling across the pavement for the umpteenth time that night.

Chance of activating: 64.64%

Another ball of acid was slung his way, something he avoided with a slow and deliberate weave. The curse once again sped past him to clean up the mess, causing him to groan in annoyance. His brief respite gave his newly gathered audience the perfect time to talk to him while he waited for the mess to be cleaned.

"Good work, Adam!" Gojo chirped happily, clapping his hands together. The three people behind the man looked slightly uncomfortable, but he could tell they were sorcerers.

"I'm guessing you're the second year students then?" He asked, stifling a yawn as he spoke. Frankly, Adam couldn't help it. The entire investigation had taken up most of his night based on the numbers alone, something that annoyed him greatly; not only that, his phone had been abused by a trio of grape sized little shits that were currently sleeping in his coat pocket. "Sorry if I come off a bit rude, I haven't slept in a while." The boy bowed forward to avoid another ball of acid being flung towards his body, it sailed over his back harmlessly before splattering on the ground nearby. "This guy has been pretty lame as well. All he does is aim for my head with some acid and then go clean it up when he misses. So much for a grade 1." Adam shrugged, walking over to where the curse was hunched over cleaning and kicking it in the rear with a black flash. "Oh, right. Your theory was right, Blindfold."

Gojo perked up, a huge grin forming on his face as he zipped over to his student and patted him on the back. "Right, right, about your prestige system?"

"No." Adam shook his head tiredly. "These guys are way too weak to even give me a level. I was talking about my black flash skill. The probability doubles with each one hit within a period of time, which I'm assuming is as long as I consider I'm in a fight."

"So, what're your chances right now? I see you're hitting them pretty often." Gojo watched the curse prepare another ball of acid with an excited smile, something Adam matched with his own wicked version.

"100%" Adam said with a smirk. "Hell, right now we could play patty cake and every one of my slaps would be coated in black sparks!" The boy held up his hands, his smile only growing wider as he clapped them together to create a shower of sparkling pitch black light.

Gojo's attention shifted from his first year student to his trio of slack jawed second years. "See? I told you he was strong!" The ball of acid the cursed spirit had been preparing splattered against Gojo's infinity harmlessly, landing on the concrete in front of him, something the cursed spirit seemed quick to rectify as it rushed over to reverse the effects.

"Oh, right. Blindfold, can you send a message to Fushigoro for me? These little buggers ran my phone dry, so I wasn't able to tell him I'll be making breakfast tomorrow instead of dinner tonight." Gojo chucked his phone into his students hands while beginning to walk towards his second years.

"So I guess we'll get started with the introductions." Gojo began lazily. Right as he did so however, the curse regained its senses and attacked. All 6 of its fists began to fly towards Adam's direction.

And all 6 of them were torn from their sockets by a dozen blue colored strings. On the other end of them stood Adam with a raised fist, "I attached these earlier when you were cleaning, in case you ever got smart." Each one of the threads had been thinned out to the point where they were razor sharp, an ability he gained after he raised the skill to level 20. A sadistic grin crawled onto the boy's face as he raised his other fist. "How would you like a taste of your own medicine?"

In an instant, Adam threw 6 punches towards the spirit's body, each one leaving a crater behind as they sparked black. While the spirit reeled back in pain, Adam put his full body weight behind his final punch, one that was actually serious.

The spirit's upper half exploded in a shower of gore and blood, coating everyone in the area in violet colored liquid. Maki groaned in annoyance at the mess while Gojo congratulated his student on the mission.
