Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, Octavius Industries finally revealed, internally at least, their revolutionary new prosthetics technology, including a direct neural link and their new idea of thinking beyond the limits of modern human anatomy. But at the same time, Doctor Octavius revealed he has a degenerative neurological condition that's motivating him to continue. Though reveals of his brain scans in the back show not only that he's likely not going to live very far past next year, but that this neural link might just alter his personality. But all that got shoved to the side when the group remembered this is Miles Morales' first day at F.E.A.S.T. So, what awaits at the center? Read on to discover...

(The scene opens with the trio of Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder on Octavius Industries' roof, with Spider-Man already dialing Aunt May as the head off)

Spider-Man: Hey, May.

Aunt May: Let me guess. Running late again?

Spider-Man: We're actually on our way right now. Have you heard from Miles at all?

Aunt May: No, but his mother said he was coming. So I have no idea what to expect.

Spider-Man: Well, we'll be there, you can count on that. See you in a bit. (Hangs up)

(As the group slings towards F.E.A.S.T., they soon spot a familiar face getting mugged in an alleyway.)

Spyro: Is that...?

Cynder: Miles?!

(Sure enough, it's Miles Morales alright, fighting off a pair of muggers. One of them has just knocked him down as we arrive, but Miles Morales gets back up and charges into the bigger of the two)

Mugger: Oh ho, we got us a fighter here!

(The mugger Miles Morales ran into is still on the ground and getting a few good slugs from Miles Morales when the other guy picks the young man up and throws him into a wall.)

Thug: You just made your last mistake, punk.

Cynder: No, I'm thinking you did.

(And sure enough, Spyro and Cynder have come to Miles Morales' rescue, with the aid of Spider-Man to take out the two muggers as, for some reason, the muggers have backup arrive)

Spider-Man: Does it really take this many guys to rob a teenager?

(Thankfully, this is no battle against supervillains and their goons. It's just the goons really, and our trio of heroes have them down in a matter of moments, as Spyro and Cynder turn to Miles Morales)

Spyro: You okay, Miles?

Miles Morales: Don't worry Spy, the only thing wounded was my pride.

Spider-Man: That was either really brave or really dumb. But it was really impressive either way.

Miles Morales: (Realizing who's offering to help him up) You're... you're Spider-Man! The amazing Spider-Man! The spectacular Spider-Man! (Realizing how awkward this is) I'm shaking your hand too long, aren't I.

Cynder: Spidey's got a point, Miles. That was a brave move out there.

Spider-Man: But next time, leave the fighting to the professionals. Okay?

Miles Morales: Okay, but what if there aren't any around?

(Spider-Man has started walking away by this point, but he hears Miles Morales' statement)

Spyro: Kid's got you there, Spidey.

Spider-Man: Well. For one pointer, you can't just go swinging at a guy twice your size. I mean, don't get me wrong, I fight guys stronger than me every other week, but when I do it I have...

Miles Morales: Like when you fought Rhino on the Brooklyn Bridge? That was so awesome.

Spider-Man: And actually a perfect example. If your opponent is bigger than you, you've got to be quicker.

Miles Morales: That's easy for you to say, you've got superpowers, dude! I can't just do what you do.

Spider-Man: Good point.

Cynder: Looks like you'd better show him some moves, Spidey.

Spider-Man: Alright then, let's try something. Put'em up.

Miles Morales: Seriously?

Spider-Man: Yeah, come on. Show me what you've got.

(Soon enough, Spider-Man and Miles Morales are in a combat stance against each other with Spyro and Cynder observiing while the police collect the attempted muggers)

Spider-Man: Okay first of all, don't let the adrenaline get to you. Breathe slow and deep. Keep relaxed. Hips square to your opponent. Let them make the first move. Now use your feet, and when they go off balance look for an opening.

(Spider-Man signals an opening but putting his hand against his throat, which Miles Morales punches, taking the hint)

Spider-Man: Just like that. Now this time, I want you to really hit me. Hard. Right in the jaw.

Miles Morales: Okay.

Spider-Man: Don't worry I can take...

(And that's the moment, when Miles Morales delivers his punch, actually getting Spider-Man to stagger back a bit, with Spyro and Cynder applauding him)

Spyro: Perfect timing, Miles!

Spider-Man: (Rubbing his jaw) Solid hook, kid. Keep that up and you'll do fine. Well, that's the end of the lesson.

Miles Morales: Probably good timing, I've got to get to the F.E.A.S.T. Center.

Cynder: No worries, Miles. We can get you there in no time.

Spider-Man: Cool. You guys go ahead and do that, I'll catch up later.

(And with that, Spider-Man slings off while Miles Morales reflects on what just happened)

Miles Morales: I just punched Spider-Man. This is so cool...

Spyro: You know, we can set you up with some more training at the Embassy if you want.

Miles Morales: Might have to take that offer up another time. I told Mom I wouldn't be late.

Cynder: Then we best get moving.

Miles Morales: (As the trio start walking) Oh, that reminds me, I wanted to show you guys this app my friends and I developed. It allows you to hack into just about anything. I'm pretty sure it even took down a Sable drone the other day.

Spyro: Really?

Miles Morales: I couldn't believe it either! What kind of multinational security agency doesn't secure their systems?

Cynder: I can let Sable know anonymously. Now come on, let's get to F.E.A.S.T.

(And with that, the trio walks off towards the center as our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good place to end for today. Admittedly not much at F.E.A.S.T. yet, but it was pretty cool to see Miles spar with Spider-Man. And yes, I know I skipped over the Miles Morales mission. It didn't feel like there was much to it. But I'm not opposed to using later ones as chapters. We'll have to wait and see about that. So, what's next once everybody gets to F.E.A.S.T.? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
