Chapter 3
Hospital
"Mr, Spencer?" A nurse asks as she enters the waiting room.
"That's me." Liam says as he jumps out of his chair.
"Beth is stable for now, but she might need a blood transfusion." she informs Liam, who is running his fingers through his hair in frustration. Nobody had updated him in the hour they had been there. "She is awake and asking for you. If you will follow me... Also, don't be scared of the tubes and wires, they are there to help and monitor her." She says gently. Liam follows the older woman till he enters Beth's room.
"What is wrong with her? Will she be okay?" he asks, fear lacing his voice.
"I am sorry, I don't have know what is going on with your daughter, but her blood pressure is on the low side of normal and her pulse is still a little high." she lets him know as he stares at the small body on the bed, tubes and wires are everywhere. He slowly walks in, scared of disrupting anything. The nurse walks out to give him some privacy as he sits in the hard plastic chair that sits next to the bed, He gently grabs the one hand that is free of tubes and wires.
"Hi sweetie, daddy is here. Everything is going to be okay." Liam whispers to Beth. "We are going to take care of you, everything will be okay." Liam repeats, his voice full of certainty. The small child looks even smaller in the big bed. Liam wishes Hope was here with him. "Where is she?" he asks himself. He grabs his phone and dials Hope's number again, and again all he gets is voice mail, so he hangs up.
Tears well up in Liam's eyes as he watches his daughter in the big bed.
The Cabin
Steffy stands in front of the door knocking. "I know she is home, I saw her car in the driveway." she pauses for a moment and turns towards Brooke's house, "Maybe she is there." she says and walks the trail to Brooke's house.
Brooke's Mansion
"These are perfect mom, thank you." Hope says, a bag in her hands. She looks towards the door as she hears the knocking. Brooke walks to the door and opens it, surprised to see Ridge's daughter on her doorstep.
"Steffy, why are you here?" Brooke asks.
"I was looking for Hope, is she here?" Steffy asks the woman she once thought of like a mother.
"What Steffy?" the woman in question asks.
"Liam and I have both been trying to contact you. It's Beth,,,"
"What about Beth?" Hope interrupts, "Is she okay?"
"Liam took her to the hospital. They don't know what is going on yet, but we have been calling and texting you. Don't you have your phone?"
"It's in my purse on silent. I had one of my migraines earlier and Finn said to be in a quiet room with no noise, so I silenced my phone." Hope tells her nemesis. Steffy ignores the fact that her husband was with the woman she can't stand and continues to tell her what she knew about Beth. "Her blood pressure came up and is on the low end of normal, pulse is high, no fever, is flushed, and that while she lost consciences in the car, she is awake now."
"Oh my god, I have to go." the blonde says, fear in her voice. She grabs her purse and keys, the bag from Brooke's closet still hanging from her arm. She hurries out the door and to her car, pulling her phone out as she runs. Ignoring all the messages, she calls Liam who answers on the first ring. "Liam, what is going on? Steffy found me at my mom's and told me Beth is in the hospital." Hope says, the fear still in her voice.
"She is stable for now. They are running some tests on her to find out what is going on. God Hope, they took so much blood..." he trails off.
Hope drives fast but safe, fear covering her face.
