"You flashy moron! What kind of doctor doesn't know how to heal someone?!" A voice yelled.

"B-But there are no physical injuries. What am I supposed to heal?" A frightened voice replied.

"I don't know you idiot, I'm not the doctor, and what do you mean there are no injuries, I must've sliced him a hundred times!"

My head pounding, I opened my eyes to see two men standing over me, my health had been fully restored, and outside of the headache, I felt great.

"I've never seen anything like it. He doesn't appear to have any injuries, and needles aren't drawing any blood." The doctor told the man.

"That's impossible!" The red nosed man yelled at the doctor, looking down and finally noticing I was awake. "You're awake." He whispered. "Good, you're awake! Good work doctor, you can leave now." He laughed patting him on the back.

"B-But." He raised his finger before just giving up and leaving the tent.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"You're in my town, I brought you here after you tried attacking me. You didn't snap out of it until I broke that dull sword." He pointed to my hand.

I looked down, seeing the muramasa snapped in half. "So much for being a great grade sword." I sighed. "So why didn't you kill me? You're Buggy the Clown, aren't you? Not exactly known for your mercy."

"I saw you fight, I want you as one of my freaks. Every circus needs someone to keep an eye out for new talent, become my talent scout, and help me expand the circus. With that lightning of yours, you could even help with lights and play the part of the magician. We'll carve this circus into the grandline. What do you say?" He grinned. "By the way, if you decline, you die."

I chuckled. "As long as you can offer me food and a place to stay, I don't mind. What's first?"

"Well first we have to find where you stand. My group is all about power. Only the strongest can be my right hand. If you're strong enough, you might just become my ringmaster and be allowed to announce our acts." Buggy laughed. "Now follow me, the first person you'll have to fight is my ball carrier."

I got up from the bed and left the tent, surprised to see people partying. "Welcome to my flashy circus. Work hard for me, and you'll be treated well. Fail to meet my expectations, and you'll be killed." Buggy turned towards the crowd with a smile, all of them quieting down and waiting for him to speak. "Listen up, freaks! We got a new member, and it's time to see where he falls in this little circus of ours. Brat, you're up first!"

"R-Right boss!" A young boy squeaked out as he stepped up, his legs shaking but his face determined. His party hat slipped down his head as he hastily shifted it back into position.

"You want me to fight a child?" I asked. "That kind of goes against my morals."

"I'm not a child, I'm a pirate!" The boy yelled as he ran at me waving a dagger wildly. I stepped to the side and punched him in the stomach, watching as he fell to the floor in pain.

'Well that's one. He's only level 2. Why is he a pirate?' I asked myself.

"Good Good, Tightropes. You're up next!" Buggy commanded as three people jumped down from the sky, their leader holding a sword.

"There's no way you're surpassing us. We've been on this crew for three years!" He yelled.'

'I dashed forward, covering my fist and arms in bone. "Three years mean nothing when you don't have the strength to back it up."

They moved to attack me as a trio, as the chubby one swung, I dodged to the side and kicked the orange haired guy in the chest.Their leader appeared behind me, going for an overhead swing. I sidestepped and tripped the man before knocking him out with a kick to the head.

[Tightrope walking funan bro has been defeated, gained 7 exp.]

"Just because you beat the boss doesn't mean you can beat us!" The plump one yelled as he picked up his leader's sword and aimed to decapitate me. I encased my neck in bone as the blade bounced off. I then grabbed him by the throat, the bone on my arms sliding off to cover him slowly. "Bone art: Midas Touch!"

However, before I could even cover his neck, the orange haired one tackled me and began pounding me into the ground. "Electrocute!" I announced as the red energy overtook his body, and he passed out.

I turned back to the last one, pointing the broken blade at his throat."You win." He said, throwing up his arms in defeat.

[You have reached level 12, points until next level: 88]

The next group to step up was the Acrobatic Fuwas at level 6, giving 10 exp each the four were easily defeated, much to Cabaji's chagrin.

"Training will be tripled for the next three days!" He crossed his arms. "I have brought you Idiots up in my likeness, and you fail me like this?!"

"See this is why you should never trust other people. Only animals can truly uphold your expectations." Mohji laughed.

"Enough with the bickering, Superhuman Domingos, you're up." Buggy ordered.

"Um boss, do we have to?" The one in lead asked. "He's wiped everyone else out."

"Don't run away now, I need the experience." I taunted them. "Come on, I bet you're stronger than me, though I'm a bit faster."

"We don't mind taking a loss, but we're not gonna let you talk about us like that." The Frankenstein pirate yelled as he charged at me.

"Now we're talking." I smiled. Five minutes later, they too were on the ground.

[3x domingos have been defeated, 42 exp gained.]

"I'm ending this now." Cabaji announced as he stepped up, pulling a sword from his throat.

We collided in the middle of the rooftop, his strength slowly pushing me back. "You're tough." I complimented him. "But strength means nothing when you have no abilities." I increased my speed two fold with the stats I saved up, sliding past his attack and making contact with chest. "Spark fist!" The red lightning flashed through his body as he grunted in pain.

'24 damage has been dealt.'

I smiled. "A couple more hits like that and you'll be out of this fight." Dashing forward I returned the broken sword to my inventory before throwing a bone empowered jab. He deflected the attack, throwing a hidden knife from his free arm. I immediately shifted the bone to protect the area before pushing forward and throwing a right hook, landing a hit on his jaw.

He leapt back. "You're just a brat! Carnival tricks: Dance of 100 kamikaze tops!" He announced as the small toys closed in. Not remembering the attack from the anime I jumped back, the crowd backing to the edge of the rooftop to give us space.

"Thanks you guys, I wouldn't want any of you dying in the crossfire." I laughed as I drew my blade attempting to release a jolt slash, however, Cabaji closed the gap in an instant, striking my arm with his blade making it unable to complete the swing, I immediately went for a lightning pellet but the small attack was easily dodged as he leapt from his unicycle to kick me across the face sending me flying across the clearing before landing perfectly on his one wheeler and flying towards me. He slashed downwards, ready to end the fight, I immediately rolled forward, dodging the strike, and sent out a kick to try to sweep the unicycle from beneath him.

My kick missed as he leapt into the air landing a couple feet away as he began spinning his sword on the ground. "Murder at the steambath." Dust covered the area, blocking my vision. I tried to adjust my eyes but before I could I heard the gears of cycling behind me. "Die!" He yelled as the steel of his blade broke through the dust. I brought up my bone covered arm guiding the attack away, punching blindly when I noticed there was no weight behind the blade. Suddenly I felt a pain in my side as a kick burrowed into my chest and sent me flying, the dust clearing up as Cabaji removed it from his clothes.

"You're strong." He said generously. "You can definitely find a pretty high position on this crew, using bone to defend and lightning to attack. You're no normal person."

"Thank you, I'd say this was all thanks to a devil fruit, but that'd be a lie. Let's just say my abilities are a gift from God, not a curse, I'm still able to swim. But it doesn't really mean anything, I'm still nowhere near the level of the Captain or any of the other monsters." I explained, deciding it'd be pointless to lie to the people who I'd be traveling with for a couple of years.

"A gift from god? Power handed to you will never match the level of something you have to work for." Cabaji growled. "I trained everyday for what I have, honed my skills beyond what you can imagine, you can't win."

I stood up, a smile still present on my face. "I still have to hone the power I was given, if I misuse it then it's meaningless. You don't have to be worthy of a gift to receive it, after you receive it is when you prove that they made the right choice."

I dashed forward swinging my blade. "Jolt slash!" I announced as I rushed in alongside It.

Cabaji dispersed the blade of lightning with a slash, just to be caught across the chest with a dull slash, my blade drinking the blood and regaining a small shard. He tried to retaliate but was too slow, I ducked underneath the attack and charged my palms with lightning. "Electrocute!" I yelled hoping for Paralysis but it didn't come. 'Damn my luck.'

"I don't like you." He told me. "You can't just barge into this crew and think that you can take over, it isn't that simple. I've been following the captain for 17 years, since I was just a teen, I won't let you take my spot on this crew!"

We clashed, neither one of us giving the other any ground. "Carnival tricks: Arsonist technique!"

Cabaji sat alone as the rain beat down on him, the cold making his bones shiver. He hated the rain, he was never able to eat, people were inside their houses, warm. There'd be no one to steal from and he's already tried asking, everyone just covered their noses and closed the door in his face. He hated being dirty, he hated being poor and he hated the way everyone treated him because he was less fortunate.

Before his thoughts could continue spiraling he heard a splash from around the corner. 'Finally!' He jumped up, hiding behind a bush. A middle aged man turned the corner, he looked frail and weak, but his clothes was nice and his hair was clean.

Cabaji leapt from the bushes, aiming for the man's pocket but just when it was within reaching distance he was snatched up into the air. "Well aren't you a feisty one, what's a little thing like you doing out here in the rain?"

Cabaji tried kicking and punching anything he could to get out of the guy's grip. "Let me go!"

"Considering you just tried robbing me, I don't think I will, but you're young and will probably grow up strong, so how about this, you use those skills of yours to help me around the house and I'll clothe and feed you." He offered.

Cabaji settled down, thinking about the request before ultimately agreeing. For the next eight years, his life was peaceful but boring, he rarely went outside and when he did the other people in the village always treated him like crap.

One day, the man who helped him had to leave for a couple of months, apparently going to go visit family that lived on a neighboring island. Everyone in the village said that the man abandoned him and he was starting to wonder if that was true.

"Come on Cabaji, you're useless, why would he want you around?" One of the other boys his age said.

"You don't know what you're talking about." Cabaji spat back.

"Hey don't yell at me just because you're not worth shit, this is the problem with you street rats, always blowing up over the smallest things. Right guys?"

A crowd was forming and Cabaji could hear them all whispering. "Fuck you!" Cabaji roared as he rushed the other boy.

"Come on Cabaji what do you think you can do?" The boy asked as he guided Cabaji's fist away and tripped him. "You're a street rat with no training, there's no way you can beat me, I'm a trained swordsman, eventually ill become a high ranking officer of the marines and you'll still be here rotting away." Cabaji felt a foot on his back. "Here, eat up." The boy shoved a pile of mud into his face. "Come on, eat it, or else…"

Cabaji bit down, the taste overwhelming his senses almost drowned out by the laughs. "Good job, that's where you belong, in the mud filthy and alone. How could anyone ever love someone like you, maybe that's why he left. Maybe I'll kill you and rid the world of your filth." The pain built up as the boy pressed down harder, his spine feeling like it was going to break but suddenly a shot was heard and the pressure faded.

"Take it all you freaks!" A voice shouted.

"Pirates!" He heard a woman scream as the crowd around him began panicking.

Looking up, Cabaji saw a blue haired man with a red nose and an outstretched arm holding a gun. Now lying at his side was the boy that bullied him, a bullet buried in his skull.

Pirates began raiding the houses, the men trying to fight them off, Cabaji considered joining in to help but this town had never given him anything and there was no guarantee that the old man wasn't coming back. Instead, Cabaji walked up to the red nosed man who just stared down at him with a crooked smile.

"Here to get revenge for your friend?" Buggy asked. "Your legs are shaking, I don't think you'll be able to do much."

"N-No!" Cabaji stammered. "W-We're not friends, you're strong, I-I want to join you, can you teach me how to fight." He needed someone to cling to, he didnt want to go back. He didn't want to be alone, nor did he want to be seen as weak and filthy.

"I won't teach you a thing but you're free to follow me kid, I'm in need of a chore boy." Buggy told him.

Cabaji looked back at the town, soldiers dead and the people in fear, yet he felt nothing. "I'll do it."

It was another seven years when he met Mohji and the two worked up the ranks fighting for the spot right beside their Captain eventually leading to the official creation of the Buggy Pirates.

The flames devoured me, my health dropping fast, I pushed through them grabbing Cabaji by the jaw and forced his mouth shut, using bone to keep it in place. "You had seventeen years Cabaji, seventeen years as a pirate that you could've used to grow stronger but the entirety of this crew has gotten lazy, your Captain included." I whispered as I took the unicycle and forced him to his knees. "I'm going to change that, this is the crew that will rule the grandline. Our captain will be the one to become King, so I'm not letting you all waste away here. You've lost." I pushed him away, turning back to Buggy. "Can I take a break before the last fight? Cabaji was a lot to handle."

Buggy smiled. "That's fine by me, the final fight will take place in an hour."

[Cabaji has been defeated, 39 exp gained.]

'You have reached level 13, Points until next level: 72.'

I awoke from my nap, my health fully restored. Outside of the tent, Mohji was ruthlessly teasing Cabaji.

"And this is why you're the second mate, you traveled with the captain longer than me but when it came time to officially name the crew, I was the one chosen as his right hand." Mohji laughed. "How do you lose to the new guy?"

"The only reason you were chosen over me is because of that damn lion." Cabaji growled.

Richie looked up from his meal with a questioning tilt of his head before shrugging and digging back in.

"Don't bring Richie into this. I'm just better than you, that's why I'm first mate." Mohji replied.

"Alright freaks! Settle down!" Buggy yelled. "Let's get this fight over with. Mohji and Richie, versus the rising freak, Darius."

"About time, watch closely Cabaji, maybe you'll learn something." Mohji taunted him as he stood up and grabbed his whip, calling Richie over.

'I feel like there's a race joke I can make here, but I wont.' I thought as I faced him.

"Alright I want a nice clean fight, everything above the belt and no sneak attacks." Mohji declared.

"Yea okay, I'm fine with tha-" Before I could finish my sentence a whip wrapped around my leg.

"Sneak attack!" Mohji roared as he pulled the whip causing me to lose my footing and fall on my ass. "Sic 'Em Richie!"

"Okay, that was a bitch move." I whispered as the lion drew closer. "Lightning Arrow." I called as I aimed for Richie's paw, stopping his dash. "Alright new rules, you Idiots try not to die." I drew my blade and began circling through my range attacks while keeping a distance. Richie's speed was higher but due to his cowardice he couldn't get close.

"Lightning pellet." I jumped back waiting out the cooldown before slashing my blade. "Jolt slash."

"Come on Richie, afraid of a little lightning? Break through!" Mohji ordered.

Richie looked uncertain, but he roared in acknowledgement, charging in.

I jumped back "Lightning arrow!" Richie's paw flashed out snapping the attack in half as he towered over me.

"Looks like dinner's ready." Mohji grinned as Richie chomped down.

I covered my hands in bone, struggling to keep his jaws from taking my head.

"Electrocute!" I called but nothing happened. "Damn it." I cursed as Richie put in more strength. I tried to jump back but my left arm was torn off, my health being cut in half as it reformed from pixels.

Richie and Mohji stood there dumbfounded. "Richie did you miss?!" Mohji shouted, hopping off Richie's back and glaring at him.

Richie growled something that clearly meant he had me, even using gestures to show a torn off arm.

"Well clearly you didn't!" Mohji yelled. "He's standing right there!"

Richie just shrugged while I snuck around them until I could get behind the massive lion. "Sneak attack!" I yelled as I charged my fist with lightning and punched the lion across the jaw. Watching its face contort as he fell to the floor in confusion. "Spark fist for the win!" I gloated as the lion got to his paws with a low growl.

"Hey! Try to have some form of pride, everyone knows you don't attack someone while they're in the middle of a conversation!" Mohji roared.

"I don't know, seems fair to me." I heard Cabaji whisper in the background.

"What was that?!" Mohji began to argue with Cabaji.

I crept up as everyone except Buggy was focused on the two bickering. "Sneak attack part two!" I smiled as I slashed Mohji across the back. "Payback's a bitch!" I laughed as Mohji turned on me, his face almost red with anger.

"Can you stop that! Where's your honor?"

"You think an enemy is going to politely wait for you to finish arguing?" I asked.

"They usually do." Mohji replied in confusion as blood fell from his back, another shard reforming on my blade.

"Well you did sneak attack him earlier, so it's fair in my eyes." Cabaji cut in.

Buggy facepalmed as he watched another argument unfold. "This isn't a circus!"

"Um but C-Captain." Coconut stuttered. "I-I thought this was a circus."

"Do you wanna die you idiot?!" Buggy yelled. "If you flashy morons don't get back to fighting I'll kill everyone here myself!!!"

"Fine." Mohji grumbled, turning away from Cabaji. "But no more sneak attacks, I'm serious this time." He stared down at me from atop Mohji's back, a serious expression on his face.

I smiled. "Alright then, let's g-"

"Sneak attack!" Mohji shouted, a whip lashing out and striking me across the chest. "Two for Two, now we're even."

'Why did I let these idiots join my crew?' Buggy asked himself.

I brushed myself off, covering my fist in bone. "You bitch." I sighed. "Okay, no more sneak attacks."

Mohji smiled. "Get 'em Richie!"

I dashed forward, putting my points into strength and defense, feeling the control of bone art ease up. I pulled out my sword and used bone to create a new blade. I clashed with the lion, feeling its strength. I put all my power into my left hand, holding the lion off as I pulled two arrows from my inventory. 'Don't know if it will work, but if this world is based on willpower, then it probably won't be that hard.'

"Dual lightning arrow!" I called as I threw them at Mohji. Mohji tried knocking the attack out of the sky with his whip but the lightning cut right through it, striking his arms.

'Lightning arrow has reached level 2.'

Mohji cursed, dropping his whip and falling off of Richie. Richie immediately dropped his attack and went over to lick his friend's wounds.

"Thanks Richie, but I'll be fine." Mohji told him before grabbing a white flag and waving it. "You won, I'll follow you." He smiled. "Better than Cabaji trying to order me around."

I offered my hand. "Sorry about your arms, you can get the town doctor to look after it later."

Mohji grabbed my hand, struggling through the pain as he pulled himself up. "It's fine."

Cabaji smirked. "Can't say i learned much from that fight."

Mohji thought to argue but left it alone, heading into the tent to lay down.

The town doctor stood over Mohji in fear, examining his wounds. "How did you say this happened again?" He asked.

"Just a friendly fight to determine who's going to be the vice captain of the crew." I explained. "You don't have to worry, this is normal for pirates."

"That's the part that scares me." He mumbled, only loud enough for me to hear.

"Well can you fix him?" Buggy asked. "You know what happens if the answer is no."

"With his body, he should be fine in a couple weeks." The doctor answered.

"Good." Buggy smiled. "Cut it down to one and you get to keep your left hand."

The doctor winced. "I'll try my best."

Satisfied with the answer, Buggy left the room. Mohji eventually fell asleep as he was being treated.

"Hey don't worry about it." I told the doctor. "At the very least you won't die."

The doctor turned to me, tears streaming down his face. "You don't understand, that amount of blood loss will kill me in less than a week. I'm too young to die."

"Young? You look at least in your mid forties."

"That's what stress does to you!" He snapped. "I'm only 22 but because I'm forced to treat pirates everyday with threats of death my hair is already beginning to fall out." He started breathing heavily, his hands and body shaking. "I can't do this anymore, maybe it'd be better if I just ended it."

"That's a horrible way to die, why don't you just join us?" I asked him. "You're a doctor, it's kind of pirate law to not fuck with your doctor. If you join the crew he'll definitely stop threatening to kill you."

"Why would I join a bunch of freaks? Then I have to worry about marines killing me and I can't even fight."

"Then learn, if you ever become strong enough you won't have to worry about dying again. Tell me, what's your name?"

"Silas." He whispered.

"Well that's a strange name, I'm just gonna call you doc." I told him. "Come with me, I'll speak to the captain, even though you don't want to, you'll be joining our crew. I'm new here so Buggy probably won't give me too much power but I should be able to take two people off his hands."

Doc finished up his treatment, putting Mohji on the path to recovery before shakily getting to his feet. "Why don't you just let me go, I could leave the island you'll never hear from me again. I won't say anything."

"Sorry, can't do that, we don't have a doctor on our crew so you either stay on this island as a prisoner or join us. I mean with the first option you can hold out hope that one day some nice people will come along and save you while trying not to die from messing up a procedure. With the second option you don't have to worry about that, you won't die, we won't let anyone kill you." I assured him. "All you have to do is be our doctor."

Not knowing how long he could last and how long it'd be until someone saved him, he eventually gave in. "Fine, just please don't let me die."

"Sure thing." I agreed as we left the tent to find Buggy. "Hey Coconut! Come over here for a second."

The young Buggy ball attendant looked up, rushing over with a smile on his face. "You know my name?" He questioned me.

I smiled, patting him on the back. "Of course, you're a core part of this crew aren't you?"

"I'm honored." He bowed.

"Anyway I have a mission for you, I want you to join my group for a bit, I want to head off the island to get stronger. I just have to make sure Buggy is okay with it, you want to come with?" I asked.

"He gets a choice." I overheard Doc pouting in the background.

Excitement bubbled up on the boy's face. "Would you really let me go with you?"

I nodded. "Of course, let's go ask Buggy."

We found Buggy in the middle of the clearing dancing and talking to Cabaji.

"Hey just cause you guys fell in the ranks a bit doesn't mean I don't still rely on you guys, Darius doesn't seem like the type that likes to party." He laughed.

"I'm not really a fan of loud places, probably shouldn't have joined a circus. Captain, I have something to ask you. The doc here wants to join the crew in exchange for our protection. We get ourselves a healer to bring to the grand line and he doesn't have to die, seems like a good deal right?"

Buggy's smile faded. "I only allow freaks in my crew, what kind of tricks can you do?"

Doc began to sweat as he looked for something to say. "I can read palms." He eventually blurted out.

Buggy looked skeptical. "You can? Then what do my palms say?"

Doc's sweat began building up, hair falling from his head like rain. Buggy removed his glove waiting for Doc's answer. "You'll be the richest pirate in the world sooner than you think." He lied not knowing what to do.

Buggy looked down at his palm then back up at Doc before showing off a huge smile. "Looks like you're the real deal, alright you can join my crew."

"Captain I don't think-" Cabaji started.

"Great." I interrupted immediately. "There's one more thing, I wanted to leave the island for a bit, build my strength before we head to the grandline, would you allow me to take these two with me? They're both quite weak but I can see potential in them both."

It was the truth they both may have been low level but each of them had a skill that could prove to be useful.

Buggy thought about it for a moment before shrugging. "Sure we still have some time, we haven't even taken the map from Morgan, just don't take too long or we might leave you freaks behind. And you Doc…"

"It's Silas." He whispered to himself.

"Make sure Mohji is good to go before you leave." Buggy finished.

"You don't need to worry about that, he's already on the path to recovery." I told him. Buggy nodded, dismissing us as he rejoined his party. "We'll be back before the winter ends!" I called out as I made my way to the stairs and out towards the port.

"Are you sure we can handle this?" Doc asked.

"Trust me, you'll be fine." I assured him. "We just have to find your strong points then we can start attacking marine bases and collect some treasure for the captain. By the time we return, you two might even be stronger than Mohji and Cabaji."

Coconut's eyes sparkled. "I'll do my best."

batmanuchiha: Thanks.

ofbefb34: The sword won't be gone, but having it take over my mind probably won't happen again because in certain situations, i dont believe Darius to be dumb enough to allow it to take over again.

RealObito: That's kind of what i was hoping for too

wweasyww: Let's hope it is

Lazy limits: I tried it but couldn't even get past the first chapter because i knew barely anything about the cloud.

Final thoughts.

I've never written a backstory before, so it may be severely lacking, but I hope to get better at it as time goes on. The doctor is a new character I added in randomly, didn't decide it until the end of this chapter, and Coconut doesn't have a name in the anime, so i made one up. I couldn't find a good time to bring up Buggy's insecurity about his nose or any time to bring up his obsession with treasure so his character feels a bit off. If there are any questions or concerns, feel free to let me know in the comments, I will answer them all.
