"Listen well, this girl will only have a small amount of my time before I have another emergency to take care of. I will do what I can for her, but if she recovers, it will be a very long road until she becomes useful again. If you don't want her to be retired, then you need to be strong and be careful how you go about caring for her in the future." He looked back and the limp servant girl, he worried she wouldn't have a future to be concerned about anyway.

Katsuki may have been young, but there was nothing that escaped his sharp mind. He saw the way the doctor looked at Hiromi, he knew by the way the older man patted his shoulder and shook his head as he walked past. He knew Hiromi's life was in jeopardy.

Mr. and Mrs. Midoriya were waiting in the kitchen to hear from doctor how long their servant would be out of action for. They were surprised that they had brought Hiromi up with them. "Must you take her with you?"

The doctor turned his tired and drawn face slowly towards the man. "I was told her arm may have been broken, but this beyond a simple break. Her bone has punctured through her skin and is now a mess of infection, perhaps internally as well. If this was treated right away, she could have been cleaning again by now, but honestly, she's pretty far gone now."

Hiding in the hall out of sight, Katsuki listened carefully to every word. His breathing quickened and he fought back the urge to vomit. 'She has been hurting this whole time and we left her here alone' he thought to himself. He slapped his hands over his mouth so his breaths would not be heard.

"We paid a lot of money for her and are still pay a lot of money for her training" he heard his mother plead "We were told we would probably get enough use out of her to have her take care of us for the rest of our lives because of her age. If she dies now we don't get a refund, so what are you planning to do?"

"I'm planning to do the best I can." was the flat response the doctor gave. "She has lost a lot of blood, her fever is severe, if I had to guess, I would say she is going through some organ failure. We will take her and see what we can do, the sooner the better."

Katsuki came closer to tears with every word he heard. It was all too overwhelming for the boy, between his parent's callousness and knowing he may lose his secret friend who he had just wanted to protect. He was so close to breaking down when his brother came down the stairs already sniffling.

"Kacchan, what are they talking about? Is Hiromi going to be okay?" Izuku had been hiding on the balcony of the stairs listening in from above. His eyes were full of tears which were beginning overspill onto his freckled cheeks.

Katsuki's anguish finally had an outlet, he turned that pain into anger and aimed it at his twin. He hated his brother's carefree attitude, his weakness and lack of awareness. His face was red with anger drying out his tears. He reached out and grabbed his brother by the front of his shirt pulling him close and onto his toes. His small fist was balled up and ready to let loose all of his frustrations in a fit of violence.

A banging from the kitchen and their mother's scream pulled their attention away from each other and they rushed to the kitchen to find the source of the commotion. Hiromi was convulsing in the large man's arms, so he set her on the ground for the doctor to look at. "Back up please, I need a bit of space" the doctor said gently rolling the girl onto her side.

"What was that?" Mrs. Midoriya asked, appalled by the scene playing out in her kitchen.

"A seizure, we are losing her, we must leave now." A quick glance at his grim-faced assistant had the man picking the girl back up and rushing outside with her, the family quickly following.

Izuku and Katsuki had never felt the sting of watching a loved one suffer. Katsuki was becoming more aggressive by the second, he was ready to start shouting or blowing things up if it meant that Hiromi would get help faster. Izuku, on the other hand, was wearing his sorrow on his face. Tears poured down the boy, soaking his clothes and pouring onto the pavement. He didn't understand why this was happening, everything was fine when he saw her last during their morning walk to his school together. Could she really have been sick and dying alone in their house while his family was out playing? He was laughing carefree all weekend not suspecting a thing and the weight of that knowledge was more than he could bear.

He looked first to his mother and father for comfort, but they were watching with disgusted awe which did not relieve his fears but intensified them. He looked to his brother but after his outburst in the house and the way Katsuki tended to bully him whenever they were together it didn't feel right to go to him. Another glance at his secret friend covered in dried blood with her arm bone reaching through her skin and towards the night sky broke him. His innocence shattered; the world was not fair, and he was in no position to make it better.

Izuku reached out his small hand, shaking and desperate to reach the Hiromi. He had to help her, save her, anything. Her name escaped his lips with a hiccup and a sob.

Hiromi heard her name somewhere in the fog. Izuku. Did he need her? He always seemed to need something, and it was her job to take care of him and Katsuki, not because she was told to but because they were the only people who gave her world light and color. She couldn't feel her body, she was young but understood her body was failing her. Who would take care of her boys if she was gone. One of them needed her right now. Her eyes cracked open, barely enough to see anything. Izuku was reaching for her, but his father was dragging him away. Katsuki stood next to them, wide eyed and with a crazed look in his eyes. Her vision was getting blurry and despite the commotion around her she couldn't make out any sounds, just buzzing in her ears. She was really about to die and leave them both. Izuku was crying and Katsuki was shaking and it was her fault. They needed her. She didn't want to die. She didn't want to leave them. It wasn't fair. She barely got a chance for happiness in this world and she was going to die. She couldn't die like this. She had to get to her friends.

Hiromi's instincts took over and with what little strength was left her broken body she reached up with her working arm and touched the large man who was carrying her. Although it was only two fingers on the man's cheek it was enough for her to use her latent power.

The large man gasped and convulsed the moment Hiromi touched him. His lifeforce pulled out of him through his skin and into the girl. Her eyes flew open as energy flew into her body and gave her new life. The two tumbled together to the ground. The connection between was severed but the damage was done. The man lay still eyes rolled to the back of his head. Hiromi rolled away and cried out when she tumbled onto her broken arm. The pain was piercing and sweet as it meant she was still alive although she didn't understand how. With her good arm she propped herself up and looked around. All eyes were on her, unfriendly eyes.

Everyone stood still and shocked. Hiromi had used a quirk. Homestead slave quirks were carefully monitored, they were never allowed to have dangerous gifts that could be used to revolt against their masters. Mr. and Mrs. Midoriya grabbed up their children and backed away from the girl unsure what was happening or what she was capable of. Izuku and Katsuki allowed themselves to be pulled away not out of fear but because they were shocked into compliance. The doctor edged slowly towards his helper fearing for the man's life. A quick check showed the man to be okay but out cold. What did this girl do he wondered. She was on the brink of death only moments before. Not just ill but well past anything he could cure, in fact, he was only trying to quickly get her to his vehicle before she passed away in front of the children. Now she was sitting up on her own although her face was still red with fever and she was gasping heavily for breath. She was in her death throws and somehow got the strength to survive from touching another person and stealing something from him. She was potentially extremely dangerous.

"Did you folks know your servant had powers?"

"W-We had no idea" The father answered "She was quirkless, we swear. Is she safe? What did you do girl?"

Hiromi couldn't answer both because she barely had enough energy to stay conscious and because she truly didn't know what had happened.

The doctor crouched down to her level and spoke gently "I'm going to get a wheelchair out of my van and we're going to get you taken care of but you must promise not to touch anyone." Looking back at the family he added "I still have a job to do, but there was no mention of this girl having powers in her registry. I will have to report this, I cannot promise you will get your servant back, but I will let the HSUC know that were unaware of it and were not purposefully hiding her power."

Katsuki and Izuku stood silent and helpless while the adults spoke. The rest of the night seemed a blur to them. They took in very little of the events around them. The man regaining consciousness, their parents arguing with the doctor about their investment, paperwork being filled out. They only noticed Hiromi who was so suddenly dying come back from the brink with a mysterious quirk get loaded into a medical van to be taken away. They watched her look back to them with a pleading gaze before the door slammed shut and was gone.
