Izuku saw a door. One that led to a bedroom he'd never seen before yet felt so familiar. There stood a woman with short auburn hair and short bangs. A perpetual pink blush adorned her cheeks, complemented by large eyes and round eyelashes. Her ears were long and pointed. Despite her adorable appearance, an air of both mystery and power surrounded the woman he loved.
"It's done. She's dead. And with her, the last of the Necromancers grown strong from the War," Izuku said, his voice deeper than he remembered.
"You sound almost sad, My Heart," she replied, the previous air that could take the breath out of even the most powerful and influential hero immediately dissolving, replaced with a face etched with worry.
"I'm a weapon. The Sword of Mankind. Forged for the Final War... What does a weapon do, now that the War is over?"
"I can think of a thing or two," she said with an alluring smile, laying on their bed invitingly.
"Oh?"
"Come to bed, Husband... and let me show you." She traced her hands across her body, emphasizing her curves, a display exciting him to no end.
"If you insist, my lady," Izuku responded, eagerly unfastening his plate armor. A lewd smile crossed his face.
I AM... HERE TO WAKE YOU! I AM... HERE TO WAKE YOU!
The sound of the Special Edition All Might Alarm Clock DX 9001 woke up the 12-year-old Midoriya Izuku. He scowled at it as his dream was cut off right when it was getting to the good part. Then he sighed as he turned off the alarm, normally; He liked it more than enough not to toss it to the next city block or two. For now.
"What a strange dream," he said. "It feels... real. And who's that girl? She's cute but scary and she called me husband. While I don't believe in premonitions in dreams, it's said we see our dreams as our brain processes information we got during the day. Maybe she's just my imagination? And what's that armor?" He muttered as he always did.
"Izuku! Wake up or you'll be late for the first day of your middle school!" A voice called from behind the door, waking him back to reality.
"Oh! Coming, Mom!" Izuku said as he got his clothes ready. His middle school uniform was tailor-made not because the Midoriyas were rich, but because they didn't come in his size, being a 5'11" kid.
He started eating breakfast prepared by his mother, Midoriya Inko, a slim 5'3" tall woman who has dark green hair like her son, though hers is a darker shade. They started chatting as they ate breakfast.
He started eating breakfast prepared by his mother, Midoriya Inko, a slim 5'3" tall woman who had dark green hair like her son, though hers was a darker shade. They started chatting as they ate breakfast.
After cleaning up and putting on his uniform, his mother said, "Oh my! You're so handsome, Izuku. You remind me a lot of your father... Sigh. Shame he's no longer here with us to see you all grown up." Her tone went from proud to slightly somber at the end.
"It's alright, Mom. I'm sure wherever he is right now, he's watching us with a smile on his face." Izuku hugged his mom, missing someone he never knew. If not for him, then for his mother. Gods know she's still incredibly in love with the man.
"You're right. It just comes back to me sometimes, you know? Oh, what in the world am I doing? Dumping all of that on my son."
"It's okay, Mom. Burdens are meant to be shared among family."
"Okay, Guru Izuku." The mother and son both laughed.
Izuku was raised alone by his mother and it's something he's incredibly thankful for. He's a clever boy and is aware of how hard it is to raise a kid alone, especially one out of wedlock. And while he could alleviate some of it by helping with the chores and not being a headache, there's only so much a pre-teen kid could do. So he made it a personal goal to make his mom smile or laugh when he could.
'Today, my mom. Tomorrow, ZA WARUDO!' The boy got embarrassed as soon as he thought that.
All he knew of what happened to his father was that his dad died due to a hunting accident whilst his mom was pregnant with him. He tried to learn more about his dad, but apparently, not even she knew the man's name. The only lead he had was the suspicion that the guy was a foreigner.
"I'm off!"
"Take care!"
Izuku started walking to school, still unable to get that dream out of his mind. By all that is logical, he shouldn't get hung up on it. It may just be a simple lucid dream. Not the first time he had one, though even compared to those instances, it was still weirder.
"No use overanalyzing it, I guess. Hmm? Speaking of analyzing, I haven't seen heroes or villains on the streets lately. I guess it's a good thing, but I'm gonna need some new info soon to fill my notebook..."
An "Ouch!" came from a soft voice. As Izuku looked where she bumped into him, he saw a short girl of a relatively thin build on the floor, with honey-brown hair curved inwards in a mushroom-shaped bob that reached just below her narrow shoulders.
"I'm sorry! I wasn't looking at where I'm going!" Izuku said as he reached out his hand to the girl.
"It's okay, shroom. I'm in the same boat. I should've seen you as well, considering how large you are, shroom." She said with a shy smile.
As she grabbed his hand, Izuku couldn't help but notice how soft her hand was or how light she felt.
...
'What's wrong with me?' he thought.
"By the way, I'm Midoriya Izuku! Nice to meet you, Ms..."
"Komori Kinoko, shroom."
"Komori-san, huh? What a cute name. Let's hang out together. Perhaps after class?"
"Eh!? Uh, sure." She answered, a bit red in the face.
"Great! Let's go meet up at the front gate!" Izuku waved at her as he headed to his class.
He thought to himself, 'I never knew I had it in me. I'm pretty nervous myself.'
As he opened the door, he was greeted with the curious eyes of 19 other students, one of them being his childhood friend, Bakugo Katsuki, an ash-blond guy with spiky hair, red eyes, and a pretty average height.
"Tch." Bakugo clicked his tongue.
'What's his problem?' Izuku wondered.
"Hey! Old man! You seem to be lost! The Senior Houses are right across the street!" Shouted one of the students, laughter echoing across the room.
"Nah, I'm good. I'm Midoriya Izuku, by the way." He said with the biggest smile he could muster.
The student showed a confused look, wary if Izuku was pulling the rug out from under them or not.
"Monoma Neito."
"Monoma-kun. Hope we get along!" Izuku smiled as he reached out his hand.
Lunch Break
During lunch break, Izuku ate alone at the cafeteria. It wasn't like he didn't make any friends, okay?! There was Komori-san, Kacchan... Anyway, he was sure they were just intimidated because of his size. Yup! The gap between him and his classmates would surely be closed... eventually.
"I-Is this seat available, shroom?" A voice called out from his left.
"Yep! Feel free, Komori-san."
"Thanks."
After a quick silence, Izuku spoke, "Man, it's so easy these first few days of school, huh? We just introduce ourselves and the rest is free time."
"Hehe. True. I guess it's mostly for us to start making friends, shroom. I even got a few friends already, shroom."
'I got beat, huh,' Izuku thought.
"Hey. Mind if I ask some questions, shroom?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"Why did you want to hang out with me, shroom?" She looked down.
"Why not? You seem kind, cute, and I just had a feeling it'll be fun to know more about you."
"Whu-eh-I-eh" She stuttered.
"You okay?" Izuku asked, wondering if something had happened to her. Maybe she was allergic to the food? Now, he was getting worried.
"I-I'm fine, shroom!" She half-shouted, gaining the attention of many other students. Her face a little red.
"If you're sure..."
"Yeah, shroom. Anyway, may I ask your quirk, shroom?"
"Me? I have super strength. Not super special, but I can lift a car on one side with a hand." While it sounded impressive, it was par for the course for someone with a strength-enhancing quirk.
"That's awesome, shroom! I got Mushroom. I can spread mushroom spores and have them fully grow upon contact, shroom."
'Hopefully, none are cordyceps,' Izuku thought, kind of scared of the potential of her quirk.
"That's awesome, Komori-san! Just imagine the type of things you could do with such a quirk!"
"Really? You don't think it's creepy, shroom?"
"Far from it. Well, it'll be scary to fight against, to be honest. But that just means that you'll be a great hero in the future."
"Thanks, shroom." She said, her face red as a tomato. "I kinda want to be an Idol Hero in the future, shroom."
"That's a nice dream. I'm sure you'll be adorable, singing and dancing on stage," Izuku said, mentally taking note of this for later.
"Y-Yeah, shroom." She said, sipping on her juice.
They continued talking about random things until the end of lunch. Izuku returned to his classroom, greeted by Monoma.
"Hey, man," Monoma said, with a black eye the size of Bakugo's fist.
'I'll need to talk to Kacchan later on about this,' Izuku thought.
"Hello, Monoma-kun. How's lunch?" He asked.
"Life-changing." Monoma joked, and they laughed.
"Listen, I know I was a bit... okay, I was an ass to you earlier. I... came here to apologize." Monoma said, bowing.
"Hey, man. Water under the bridge. Friends?" Izuku extended his hand.
"Friends." Monoma took it.
And just like that, Izuku made his fir... second male friend at school. Yup. Second.
After School
As soon as the bell rang, Izuku stood up and made a beeline for the front gates, waiting for Kinoko.
While waiting, he noticed some rather peculiar students and their quirks.
One girl had purple hair with earphone jacks as her earlobes. 'Looks useful,' he thought.
Another student had a manga dialog box for a head. 'How does he even breathe?'
Izuku also spotted a floating schoolgirl uniform. 'It could be a girl or a guy who likes to crossdress. I'm not judging; not like I can tell without touching them.'
He saw a few more unique students until he finally spotted Kinoko with two other students. One had orange hair in a side ponytail, and the other had dark hair with a very deadpan expression. When Kinoko saw Izuku, she ran over and suddenly grabbed his hand.
"Hello there, Komo—"
"LET'S GO!"
"Whoa!" She dragged him outside. While it's true that Izuku wasn't ready, but she was surprisingly strong, which surprised him.
They ran until the school was no longer visible. Izuku had no problem keeping up since he was extremely athletic thanks to his quirk. Kinoko, on the other hand, was winded.
Pant Pant "Good. We got away, shrooo~~m." Komori-san said.
'She would need to build up stamina if she wanted to be an Idol Hero. Dancing while singing while going 100% on both is no joke. Never mind the hero aspect. Hmm?'
"'Got away?' Komori-san, were they trying to bully you? If that's the case, I'll go have a word with them," Izuku said, trying to convey how serious this was.
'They don't look like bullies, but it's easy to disguise bullying as 'harmless fun between friends.' A little hair-pulling here, a little bumping or tripping there, or even social bullying. I won't let anyone, especially a friend of mine, get bullied on my watch,' he thought.
"What?! No. No! T-They're not, shroom." She said, but it could be a case of the victim not realizing they're being bullied. For now, Izuku decided to take her word for it. He would find out sooner or later if they continued to hang out.
"Then why are...we...running away from them?" he asked. Her face was practically glowing red. 'Is she that winded from running?' he wondered.
"When I said I was meeting someone after school, they started asking questions, shroom. When they found out it's a guy, they started saying I should let them meet my boyfriend, shroom." Her face got redder by the second.
"Oh, is that all?" Izuku said, using the vending machine to get her a mushroom-flavored juice.
"EH!?"
"Hahaha! I didn't know you're the possessive type, Komori-san. That's cute." He joked.
She started chugging the juice as soon as I said that.
"Let's go," he said, holding her hand as they started walking.
"Where are we going, shroom?"
"I was thinking we should head to a karaoke place I know. Since you said you want to be an Idol Hero, I've been looking forward to hearing your singing voice since lunch break."
She sounded hesitant but eventually agreed.
"A-alright," she said.
'No shroom this time?' he thought.
The karaoke place he took her to was normal, but he liked it since he knew the machines worked well and the rooms weren't used for...other activities.
"Oh! Izuku-kun! Welcome!" an old lady called.
"Tenchu-san. Good afternoon." He bowed. It was usually her grandson who welcomed customers, but it seemed he hadn't returned from school yet.
"Oh my. I see you brought company. Would you introduce your little friend to me?"
"She's Komori-san. Komori-san, this is Tenchu-san. She's the owner of this place."
"Hello, shroom."
"What a cute lady! It's nice to know that Izuku-kun is making more friends. Such a helpful young fellow, I thought he wouldn't have the time."
"Tenchu-san?" Izuku said.
"My, he always offers help. Just yesterday, as he jogged by, he offered to help move the new karaoke machines we got. The helpers were even lost on what to do. Haha!"
"Alright, Tenchu-san. We'd like to rent a room for an hour." He interjected before she embarrassed him further.
"Go ahead! Go ahead! I'll even let you use the brand new ones."
"Got it!" He got the key and ordered a few snacks and drinks.
As they walked to the karaoke room, he noticed Kinoko wearing a wide smile. 'As long as she's happy, it's fine, I guess,' he thought.
They browsed the catalog for songs, and she decided on her first three. They agreed to take turns, three songs each.
The first one she picked was more of a remix than a song. Izuku was surprised they had it here.
Her face turned determined and, dare he say, pretty.
...
"What's wrong with me?" he wondered.
She perfectly sang a remix of a person reciting a Dr. Seuss story into a rap. He was impressed by how well she nailed it. And she said it was her warm-up song.
"Wow, I'm surprised how flawless you managed that," he said, clapping.
"Hehe. I've been practicing, shroom."
"It definitely shows. I can already imagine you on stage. Okay, maybe not with this song, but still..."
"You're exaggerating, shroom. I still have two more songs." She said, but he could see a wide smile. She was in her element here.
She proceeded to sing the next song.
This time, it's a Western-style song called Country Roads. Izuku was speechless. It wasn't perfect, but he was confident she'd easily take a top spot in auditions. Maybe even win.
"H-How was it, shroom?" She asked, a little shy.
"How was it? I'm surprised you haven't been scouted yet!" he told her honestly.
"T-thank you. You're sweet, you know that, shroom?"
"Well, you make it easy," he said with a wink. It may have petrified her a bit. "Was it too much?" he wondered.
"Haha. Hehe. Thanks, shroom. Anyway, I'll sing the last one so I can hear your voice, shroom." She said, fanning her face.
"Can't disappoint now, can I?"
"Un."
She entered the code for the next song. Izuku was very familiar with this one.
The song is an opening theme song of an anime that was popular back in the day. The name of the song is "The Day." She danced along the rhythm. He thought she lacked stamina, but she had it down pat.
"How many times have I been surprised today? Quite a few. I don't think this can be topped for a while," he thought.
"At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'm still astonished, Komori-san. Look at what you're doing, I'm running out of words to describe how amazing that was," he said with a bit of laughter.
"T-Thanks, shroom."
Throughout the day, Izuku noticed how easily affected Komori-san was by compliments. While there might be a market for that as an Idol Hero, it would be difficult if she froze up when complimented during a fight. So he decided to compliment her as much as possible, sincerely. Not that it was hard.
"Well, it's my turn now! Prepare to swoon," he said with a smirk, greeted by a smile so bright, you'd think Helios was in front of him.
"Well, I really can't disappoint her now, can I?" he thought.
Two Hours Later
Izuku walked Komori-san home since it was getting dark. At first, she said it would be alright, but he wasn't raised to leave a lady walking alone in the dark. It just felt right.
"Thanks again for walking me back, shroom. It should be okay here now, shroom."
"Gotcha! See you tomorrow, Komori-san."
She walked up to him and...hugged him tight before running to her front door.
"See you tomorrow, Izuku-kun! Shroom." She entered her house.
Izuku started jogging to the train station, holding back his speed. If he wanted, he could easily run as fast as a car on a highway, but that would make it too obvious he was using his quirk in public.
He stopped for a moment to make sure he was going the right way. Pulling up his phone's GPS, he memorized the next few streets back to the train station, despite coming from there a few minutes ago. He realized he went past the street he was supposed to take and backtracked halfway.
...
'I'm not good with directions, okay?!' he thought. Whomever he's talking to is to anyone's guess.
Then he saw a person right in front of him. He looked like a homeless man. They weren't common anymore, with many heroes helping the homeless. While it might not be much, Izuku opened his wallet to give him money, except for his fare home, to at least let him get a proper meal or two.
As he approached, he heard the man muttering.
"...u. ...ku. Izuku... Hahaha! They are coming. Both gods and men will die. And the world will end in fire and ice. But first...you must die."
"What?" Izuku asked.
"The Blood of Arthur has continued. The End must never find The Beginning. The Sword that was Lost must never be found."
"What are you talking about?" Izuku demanded.
"tHe bLoOd oF ArThUr hAs cOnTiNuEd. ThE EnD MuSt nEvEr fInD ThE BeGiNnInG. tHe sWoRd tHaT WaS LoSt mUsT NeVeR Be fOuNd."
As he spoke, the man started levitating, his eyes glowing red. Izuku stepped back, ready to react to whatever was happening.
"̸̨͇̓̅†̶̢̨̑́h̸̲͔̅͘ę̶̞̂̔̕ ̴̡̩̽̎ß̴͙̠́̍l̶̫̟͑̂ð̵̭̮͆̌ð̶̝̹̌͠Ð̶̰͔̌͠ ̶̺͚͋̍ð̵̦̳̅̉£̸͔̘͗́ ̸̤͇̀͛Ä̵̩̞́̀ŕ̷͓̲͗†̸͚̪̿̎h̸̹̰͛̎µ̷̡̲̑̾r̶̰̟̈͠ ̸̩̭̐̽h̶͎͎̐̀å̷̦̲̃̊§̷͇͚̓͋ ̴̨̞̔̔¢̵̺͕͋̋ð̴̤̜̀͑ṋ̸̩̃̇̎†̵̞̜̈͘ï̵̧̨͐͠ñ̷͓̤͆͝µ̶̨̻̅̿ê̸̹̙̅̕Ð̶̙̮͐͆.̵̢̜̔̒ ̶̪̬̌̕†̵̡̖͗̌h̶̞͍̅̅ę̷̬̂̄̅ ̸̲̪̿̀È̴̺̫̕͝ñ̴̺̙̈́̐Ð̵̱̩͊͛ ̸̼̘̂̋ḿ̴͚͚̒µ̶̭̜͑̄§̸̜̈́͒͜†̵̛͓̬̓ ̸͖̻́̈́ñ̷͚̦̎́ê̴̗̙̓͝v̸̳̮̿̋ễ̵̟̬͐r̶͚̥̂̋ ̸̜̙̀͝£̵̜̻̉̚ï̵̪̺̇͌ṉ̶͕̃̊̐Ð̵̩̘̉̇ ̸̜͔̇̓†̷̡͕͛̋h̶̥̗̎̕ê̸̗͈̒͂ ̴͍͕̾͝ß̸̺̩͋̌ê̵̞͕̍͘g̶̳͖̑̓ï̴͔̪͌͆ñ̴̡̨͗̂ñ̵̰͈̆̓ï̵̼̤͆͠ñ̸̫̟͗͛g̷̠̻͐͗.̵̡͙̌̓ ̶͓̫́͘†̵͈̩̅̚ḣ̵͕̮͐ȩ̶̜̂̏͝ ̸̧̮̓͝§̵͉̯̾̐ẃ̷̟̟̕ð̷̫͎̅͊ŕ̶̬̠͝Ð̴͉̤͊́ ̸̢̰͗̂†̷̛͓̣͛h̷̨͕̾̓å̷̧̠͐̃†̶͙̤͑͊ ̸͓̙͋̾w̷͕̦͑͠å̶̧̳͂͝§̶̠̖̄̕ ̴̟̖̅̅L̵̨͐̆ͅð̴̯̞̔̚§̵͙̗̈͠†̵̰̣̈́̔ ̵̝̰̐͒m̵̨͓͒͗µ̶͍̗̀̓§̸̱͈̅̆†̶̨͙͂̒ ̵̹͕̌͛ñ̶͉͎̾͗ê̸̡͍͒́v̵̥̗̀̏ê̵̳̙̓͗ŗ̶͉͑̀ ̶̙̼̈͠ß̶̨̩̄͘ê̷͍̙̋͝ ̴̙̥̀̌£̷̨͔̏̍ð̷̢̳̇͠µ̵̮͓͗̈́ñ̷̯̭́̊Ð̸͈͖̆̃.̵̨̟́́"̴̟̬̅̐
The man then pulled out a knife and lunged at Izuku. The speed was insane; the blade was almost at his eye before he could react.
...
But then, it was as if time stopped. The dark street became clear as day, and power surged through Izuku's veins. He looked at his hand and saw playing cards—of all things. Instinctively, he played the hand, "Three of a Kind."
A mysterious force hit the man, launching him across several streets. Izuku wanted to check if the man was alright, but he felt an overwhelming urge to run away. So he did.
He ran to the train station and went straight home, too shaken by what had happened to think clearly.
'What was that?!' he thought. He was tempted to just shrug it off and attribute it to his quirk, but something told him he was wrong.
The door opened, and his mom walked in. "Izuku? Are you alright? Why won't you turn on the lights?"
"Oh, right," he said, realizing the room was dark. "It's nothing, Mom. I'm practicing my stealth skills for when I become a hero." He forced a smile, feeling that telling his mom about what had happened wasn't the right thing to do.
"Haha! Silly boy. You're just like your father. Anyway, you've got to eat dinner now. I get that you're hanging out with a girl, but you can't forget your own health."
'How did she know it's a girl? I did say I'm hanging out with someone, but not that it's a girl.'
"It's called mother's intuition, Izuku," she said, noticing his surprise.
"I'm muttering, aren't I?"
"Hehe. Yes, you are. Come, go eat your dinner before it gets cold again. I just heated it up."
"Okay, Mom."
"Hmm. It looks like he awakened way earlier than I thought," a woman with straight hair and a presence as dazzling as the sun remarked.
'I honestly thought it wouldn't happen for another ten years,' she mused.
"It isn't that surprising, is it? It's the normal age an Evoker awakens their power," another woman with dark purple long hair and golden irises replied.
"Still, it feels early. He's still too weak to fight off a Defiler, never mind the beings who see gods as nothing more than snack bars. Fujiyama, make it known that at least until he finds The Beginning, he'll be under my protection."
"Yes, my liege," the woman called Fujiyama responded.
"Now, I wonder what Father and Merlin plan to do this time. But I do hope you fulfill your destiny and survive to tell the tale. I would've liked to share a drink with you one day, little brother."
So...many...shrooms. Why did I start with her?! But she's adorable so...worth it? Also, sorry for the misleading summary. The undead mutt's still too OP for this Izuku.
Wow. More than 3.6k words. It's longer than I'm expecting. I don't think it'll be the normal length for future chapters since I was trying to set up a lot of stuff in here.
The first few chapters will be mostly fluff, with some time-skips and such. This will give me time to establish some characters and their relationship with Izuku along with turning our cinnammon roll into a sinnammon roll. Six years should be enough for that. There won't be any (on-screen) lemon during this and Kinoko gets to keep her chastity 'til at least UA (much to her frustration and tears). It's her punishment for making me do this, shroom!
