The hospital
"Oh mon amour! I was so worried for you!" my mom saids while hugging me in my hospital bed. "I am so proud that you thought of saving those pokemons. Don't think that means you're getting away scott free Ezekiel Henriette Bron, she uttered while holding my face. You can't go out until you're 10."
"That's 5 months!"
"Til you're 11?"
I sigh.
"No it's fine."
"I see Beggsy evolved. What happened?"
"She pulled through as usual."
I stroked Beggsy's head as I continue. She makes a little happy sound.
"Thank you for her by the way! I just told her what I thought about her and she evolved."
"You want to know why I gave you that pokemon? Because it says that it showers kind and caring people with happiness."
I tear up a bit. I guessed my mother felt that way, solely on the fact that she was my mother, but she believed it so much that she bought something on that belief alone.
"It took time to evolve, but I knew it would eventually. You're a great kid."
I hug her.
"Je t'aime maman!" (I love you)
"Je t'aime aussi mon petit cœur!" (I love you too, sweetheart)
I hug her. My father comes running. He is wearing a full armor with knee pads helmet fully covered letting only his eyes show. He brings down the turtleneck that was covering the lower part of his face.
"What did I tell you about staying outside. You could licked by a Haunter, get your soul sucked by a palossand or slaughtered by a gyarados. Look what happened you, got bit by a golbat."
My father is a pokemon danger assessor. I didn't use to get it, but his knowledge is really interesting. Basically, he contacts strong trainers that survey areas, notably some with pokédex (that's so awesome!). He then gets a survey of the pokemon in the area and grades the level of danger. The level of danger is marked by the number of badges you'd have to have to go relatively high chance to survive. It's the same institution that graded mount silver as restricted. So he knows a whole lot about dangerous pokemons… and why we live in possibly one of the safest places in the world. Now that I think about it, it makes poachers' jobs relatively safe too. It's an international institution, that's why he's not home often. He's also a huge fan of professor Oak.
"You know that they are poison types, right? Thank God for the pokemon we gave him, Marine, he exclaims to my mother."
She went through a lot of pokemon to make him agree to this one. Hypoallergenic, kind to humans, beneficial even. He grabs me, holds me tight and shakes me while crying.
"Ouch!" I wail.
"Take that as punishment, he screams. And the nurse said it was safe."
My parents leave for the night a little while after.
Seru comes from the window on the back of a dragonite. Ah, a man of culture.
"Hi, we need to talk!"
He tells me about the wood's situation. The traps and the fact that in the past hour he and the other saved about 200 pokemons in the past 3 hours. How they were using my smell to pull them and trap them.
"I know, I say somberly. I talked to Hero, we made a plan."
"Hero?"
"Oh yeah, since riolu won't be able to go back afterwards, he'll come live with me. I'm not sure, if he knows what it means, but he really liked it. (He was smirking so hard, I love this little guy!) So will, Berry."
"Eevee?"
"Yes, I say proudly. He ate his weight in berries so many times, I'm pretty sure he earned his name."
Seru chuckles. I get real sad thinking about him. Apparently, he had to be placed in his own room because he was crying so often. Couldn't be separated from the egg too.
"Hey, you did everything you could."
Seru has such a reassuring voice. It kinda makes it feel like everything is okay.
"Okay so the plan is…"
I tell him my plan.
"I already talked to some pokemons it's redundant to do that."
"200. 3."
I don't need to say anything else. We stay quiet for a bit.
"I'll talk to the cave pokemons. We'll help you."
"Thanks."
"That means you won't be able to go back. Are you okay with that?"
My eyes can't help tearing up until they're fully bawling. I think about all the pachurisus, pichus, pikachus, zigzagoons, badoofs, azurills, bunearies, Leclown and much more I had the chance to meet.
"No. But I don't have any choice."
He gets up to go towards the window. He clears his throat.
"I'm glad I met you, I will be quite busy for a while, but if you see me, don't hesitate to say hi. He puts two things on the desk. Goodbye, Ze."
He smiles sadly, then jumps out a window. I'm really tired, so I doze off.
I'm awoken by a young brown skinned women wearing a suit.
"So, in short, thank you for saving my child."
Who is she? And child?
"Whose child did I save."
She glowers at me.
"No one's. In matter of fact, not only did my child save you, but you jeopardized her safety."
Oh no.
"I asked not to… tell you that!"
I'm so glad I stopped myself from telling her I told her to not come. I'm pretty sure if she knew that I told her not to come, I would never see Magenta again.
"Pathetic, you wanted to hide that."
Alright, now I might not see her for another reason.
"Alas, at least some good came of this. You allowed her to practice with relatively low stress, due to your… lack of relevance. Anyhow the real hero is your pokemon, Togetic."
She was almost unrecognizable as she started to patt Beggsy. Her expression was so soft, kind and loving. You can tell she really loves pokemon. That explains a lot also. Though how she treats Magenta seems rough, her girl didn't seem to mind. She was even smiling while telling some of the things her mom made her do. I thought it was incomfort, but I'm starting to doubt that. Plus Beggsy seemed to really enjoy that.
"Well, we can agree on that, she should probably run in the greatest pokemon in the world contest."
"HAHAHAHAHA!"
Her laugh really caught me off guard.
"Yeah, she probably should!, she screams out while laughing."
She stops laughing gradually.
"Well, if you ever want to sell her, I'll pay top dollar for her."
"I'm sorry, but she's not to sell."
"Even for a billion pokedollars? You'll be able to buy all those fancy consoles you're so fond of."
"Beggsy is not my property, I can't sell her."
She fixates me for a bit. Chuckles and repeats "Beggsy".
"Well, I was hesitant to believe you actually were the cause of her evolution, but that was definitely worthy of a Togetic own…, I mean befriender. Well, I'll take my leave. Thanks again Beggsy, hehe!"
She turns her back, but stops at the door.
She only lightly turns her head.
"I'd be an hypocrite to say I wouldn't have done the same. And even if you had told Maj not to go, I doubt she would have ignored the cries of a pokemon. For those reasons, I forgive you."
Hun, I might see "Maj" before I'm old. She leaves. I get up to see what Seru left me. Its a big envelop. It says to Ezekiel.
" I know you'll probably take eevee home. You're also turning 10 soon so you'll probably be on your way to embark on your journey. You are the epitome of what a pokemon master should be. Don't forget what I taught you and fight for what is right. I believe in you! Happy early birthday Ze Bron!"
Thank you so much Seru! I pull out what has to be at least 300 000 pokedollars. Dang, is Seru loaded? I put on a cap, and turn it to the back with as much gusto as I can muster like that guy I saw on TV.
"Well we won't let him down, won't we B!"
B flies in my direction while holding her fist in a determined pose.
"Squeeeeee!"
