A/N Hey all and welcome to the next chapter of Pokemon Omega Loud. In this chapter Lana learns how to catch a Pokemon and the group adds some new members to their teams. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.
Lana, May, and Lincoln were currently in Petalburg City's Pokemart, browsing through their selection of items. As they were walking towards Route 104 Lincoln realized that while he and May had enough Pokeballs to last until Rustboro, Lana didn't. So they made a quick detour to the city's Pokemart to stock up.
Currently Lana was looking at a pack of ten pokeballs priced at two thousand Pokedollars.
"Geez, talk about expensive!" she exclaimed.
"They're actually not that expensive." said Lincoln, standing by her side.
"How so?" asked Lana.
"Remember my coin collection?" he replied, "When I first got here I was just as shocked by how much things cost as you are, but I noticed that the symbol for the currency used in this world was very similar to the symbol for Japanese Yen back in our world."
"So going off of that," he continued, "I realized that one pokeball when converted to our world's currency is actually about two dollars."
Lana looked at the Pokeballs in thought. "So a pack of ten pokeballs is roughly twenty U.S dollars?"
"More or Less."
At that moment May came walking down the aisle having gone off to make her own purchases. Currently she was placing some antidotes and potions into her bag.
"I'm all stocked up," she said "How about you two?"
"I think we're all good here," said Lincoln.
Lana took the Pokeball pack up to the counter, where Lincoln paid for their items (with Lana promising to pay him back) before the trio left the shop and continued on their way out of the city and towards Route 104.
As the group walked, Lincoln gave Lana a more detailed explanation on how battling works and that it was beneficial for Pokemon growth. He also showed her the Pokedex entries for all their Pokemon and as they passed through the gate to Route 104 he was currently showing her the entry for Poochyena.
"Poochyena, the Bite Pokemon, Male. At first sight, Poochyena takes a bite at anything that moves. This Pokémon chases after prey until the victim becomes exhausted. However, it may turn tail if the prey strikes back." Said Lincoln's Pokedex.
Lana looked at the Pokeball containing Scar as she compared the entry with what little she knew of the Pokemon.
Soon the group entered Route 104 where they were in awe at the sight of the ocean before them. As they took in the scene the group decided to look for more Pokemon and trainers before breaking for lunch.
As they searched Lincoln captured a couple Zigzagoon, and a Wingull, which Lincoln sent to Lisa via the dimensional watch. He also battled a couple of trainers in the area, earning some more spending money for the group as well as some experience for his team.
May spent most of her time training her Mudkip, while coming up with some routines based on his current moveset.
Lana just watched, taking in everything she could. Next to her was Lizzy, the small lizard looking on in awe as Lincoln and May's Pokemon battled any threats that came by.
Soon it was time for lunch and the trio decided to set everything up in a grassy field overlooking the beach.
As their food cooked, Lincoln and Lana took the time to look out at the ocean before them.
"It's been a long time since we've been to the beach," said Lana.
"Yeah," replied Lincoln. "At least this time I'm not in a squirrel suit."
Lana winced at the memory, before turning to May.
"Ya know," she began, "You never told me how you and my brother met."
May blinked in surprise. "There's not much to tell." she began, "A portal opened up in the sky above me and he fell through. He was very banged up so I ran and got help. That's pretty much it."
Lana nodded her head before both girls heard Lincoln curse. Turning towards the boy both girls were shocked to see him completely cocooned in what looked like spider-webs. Behind them two worm-like Pokemon were taking advantage of the distraction to eat the trio's lunch straight from the pot.
"Hey! Our food!" cried Lana.
May pulled out her Pokedex and pointed it at the two worms.
Wurmple, the Worm Pokemon, Using the spikes on its rear end, Wurmple peels the bark off trees and feeds on the sap that oozes out. This Pokémon's feet are tipped with suction pads that allow it to cling to glass without slipping.
"Looks like I'll be teaching you how to battle instead of Lincoln," said May.
Quickly the two girls each tossed out a Pokeball, with May sending out Mudkip and Lana sending out Scar.
The two Wurmple stopped gorging themselves at the sight of the trainer's Pokemon and quickly adopted defensive stances.
"Okay Lana, all you have to do is call out a Pokemon's attack and monitor the battle closely, so that you can give them proper guidance during the fight." said May
With that May turned to the Wurmple in front of and called out for a Rock Throw as a demonstration.
Lana looked at the Wurmple she was battling, but before she could call out an attack the Wurmple began shooting purple glowing needles out of its mouth, hitting Scar in the face.
The Poochyena yelped in pain, causing Lana to get angry on behalf of her friend. Remembering what moves Lincoln told her that Scar knew, Lana called out an attack.
"Scar use Ice Fang!" she cried.
Scar shook his head, dislodging some of the needles before icy vapor began leaking from his mouth as his teeth became encased in ice. Rushing forward Scar leapt into the air and bit down as hard as he could on the Wurmple body.
The Wurmple squealed in pain before shooting the same web-like substance that was currently covering Lincoln out of its mouth.
"Watch out for that String Shot!" yelled May.
"Scar! Dodge and use Sand-Attack!" Lana yelled.
Scar leapt to the side, missing the String Shot by inches, before turning and kicking up some dirt at the Wurmple hitting it in the face and lowering its accuracy.
As the young girl was battling her opponent May had her hands full with her own Wurmple. The worm Pokemon was a lot faster than it looked, easily dodging all of Mudkips attacks.
Soon the girl became frustrated before thinking quickly.
"Mudkip! Spin around and use Supersonic!" she cried.
Mudkip looked briefly confused before spinning like a top and letting out an ear-splitting screech. The soundwaves from the attack spread out in a wide arc, leaving no way for the Wurmple to dodge as it was hit by the blast.
As Mudkip came to a halt, briefly wobbling in disorientation, the Wurmple began swaying side to side in confusion, before attempting to shoot out a few purple needles from its mouth, accidently hitting its own tail in the process.
"That slowed it down!" thought May.
Soon both Wurmple were struggling to stay upright as the two girls hammered them with attacks until they both fell back in a heap.
Both girls looked at each other before they each took a Pokeball from their pockets and tossed one each at the Wurmple. After a brief moment, the Pokeballs clicked and the Wurmple's were caught.
May stepped forward and picked up the two balls, walking back to Lana and handing her the ball she had tossed.
"I have to say," she said, "You're a quick learner, Lana"
"Thanks May!" Lana replied, "That was actually more fun than I thought it would be."
The two girls laughed and congratulated each other on a battle well fought before a muffled voice cut in.
"I'm glad you two are having fun, but do you guys mind getting me out of this stuff!" said Lincoln.
The two girls gasped, having completely forgotten about the white haired boy. Running back towards their companion they quickly cut Lincoln from his cocoon. The boy looked a little frustrated but when he saw that Lana had battled and caught another Pokemon he was excited for his sister.
"I'm sorry I couldn't help you like I promised, Lana, but I'm glad you caught a new Pokemon without me!" he said.
"Yup. Me and Wormy are gonna get along just fine." said Lana
"Wormy?" asked May.
"Yeah. She looks like a Wormy doesn't she?" said Lana releasing her Wurmple. The worm Pokemon still looked a bit worse for wear but it crawled towards Lana and began rubbing her head on Lana's legs in an almost cat-like way.
Lincoln and May looked at each other before shrugging.
Lincoln looked back at the cooking pot, seeing that whatever food was left after the Wurmples feeding frenzy was now burnt. With a sigh Lincoln looked at his companions and shook his head.
"Welp. Looks like I have to remake lunch." he said.

About an hour later, the trio resumed their journey. They walked in silence for a bit, just admiring nature and watching the various wild Pokemon run around. Soon they came upon a lone beachside cabin with an attached boat dock.
At the dock was a large fishing boat. Sitting on a stool by the cabin was an elderly man, who sat watching a Wingull playing nearby.
May pulled out her Pokedex and pointed it at the Wingull.
Wingull, the Seagull Pokemon, Male. Wingull has the habit of carrying prey and valuables in its beak and hiding them in all sorts of locations. This Pokémon rides the winds and flies as if it were skating across the sky.
As the group approached the old man waved at them before giving off a greeting.
"Hello there children!" he said, "Beautiful day isn't it?"
The trio returned the greeting when the Wingull flew up and landed on Lincoln's head.
The old man laughed "It looks like Peeko, likes you young man!"
Lincoln laughed as well before reaching into his bag and taking out a berry. Handing the berry to the Wingull, Lincoln began petting its head.
"It sure is friendly, Mr..?"
"Oh, where are my manners? You can call me Mr. Briney." said the Old Man.
"It's nice to meet you sir. I'm Lincoln."
"I'm May."
"And I'm Lincoln's sister, Lana."
"Well it's nice to meet you all." Said Mr. Briney. "Are you all heading towards the forest?"
"We are." said Lincoln. "We're on our way to Rustboro City."
Mr. Briney nodded his head. "Well I won't keep you any longer, but before you go, you should know that some suspicious characters have been seen in the woods so I would ask you to keep an eye out for anything odd."
The three trainers looked at each other in concern, before thanking the old man and heading on their way.
Lana looked up at the older two trainers, a frown on her face.
"What do you think he meant by 'suspicious character'?" she asked.
Lincoln sighed before turning to his sister.
"It's not uncommon in this world for people to harm Pokemon," he began. "Some people do it for profit, while some do it for power."
"There are a few organizations in other regions that steal Pokemon from other trainers to sell to the highest bidder." finished May.
Lana grew angry upon hearing that. She loved animals and while she had only known about Pokemon for just a couple of days she knew that she loved them just as much. It broke her heart to hear about people being so cruel to such amazing creatures.
"Anyways. Just stick close to us and if we see anything odd we'll report it to the proper authorities, Okay Lana?" said Lincoln.
Lana smiled and nodded her head with enthusiasm. With that the group continued making their way through Route 104. In the distance they could see the first few trees that marked the border of Petalburg Woods.

Meanwhile in Royal Woods, Lisa was examining the Wingull that Lincoln had graciously sent her earlier in the day.
As she took various measurements and readings, the rest of the Loud family watched in curiosity. Some of them looked at the Pokemon in awe, while a couple of them wondered what was so special about a silly bird.
"I don't get it." said Lynn. "It's just a stupid bird. There's loads of them in this universe. Why would you get so excited about it?"
"Because," said Lisa. "It's precisely because it came from another universe that makes it worth studying."
Lynn looked at her sister incredulously, before walking up to the Wingull and looking at it closer.
"I still think it's just a dumb old bird." she said.
At that moment the Wingull, having had enough of Lynn's attitude, let out a strong stream of water from its mouth, hitting the Loud girl in the face with enough force to send her flying into the wall.
The family stared in astonishment at what had just happened. The silence was broken, however, when Luna burst out laughing causing the rest of the family to begin laughing as well.
Lisa chuckled in amusement as she took a few notes on her clipboard.
"Entry 1: Pokemon will retaliate if insulted."
Lynn just lay on the floor soaking wet and grumbling.
A/N So Lana and May have caught some Wurmple and Lincoln has begun sending Pokemon to Lisa, with humorous results. In the next chapter the group begins making their way through Petalburg Woods where an unseen threat lies in wait. Anyways I hope you enjoyed this chapter and I'll see y'all next time.
