Chapter 1: Assante
"Miss Jackson, do you know when the first break-in occurred at Gringotts bank?"
I look up from my doodle at Professor Frank. "it was in 1890."
"Who broke into Gringotts that year?"
"It was Ranrok, sir."
Professor Frank looks at me inquisitively. "You're correct, Miss Jackson, but I would appreciate it if you took notes and did not doodle while in my class."
I nod my head and look down at my notebook and I see I started drawing Hugo again. My friend Rosie took a quick look before I could turn the page and whisper, "Someone is in love."
I hid a smile, and the clock rang. "Okay, class is over don't forget your homework tonight and I will see you all next week."
I gather books and put them in my bag and Rosie, and I walk arm and arm to the great hall. We are almost in the great hall when we spot Hugo leaning against the wall by the entrance.
Hugo reaches out and touches my shoulder. "Assante right?"
Rosie nudges me. "Uh yes."
"You're the Ravenclaw who draws, right?"
Rosie chimes in, "She's the best in Hogwarts. You know this summer she had an exhibition at an art gallery in Boston."
Hugo smiles "Wow that's amazing. Do you do commissions?"
My mind finally catches up with my mouth. "Yes, I do."
"Great, my parents are going to celebrate their 23rd wedding anniversary and I wanted to get them something special. Do you think you can do a portrait for me?"
I gasp, "You want me to do a portrait for your parents? Are you sure you want me to do it?"
"I saw the portrait you did for Edwin when he proposed to Victorie. It was beautiful."
I smile. "Thank you."
"Do you think you can do it before we go on Christmas break?"
I pull out my phone and look at the calendar. "In just 3 weeks, I can do it."
I look up at his beautiful blue eyes. "that is great. How much would you charge me?"
"I usually charge 6 galleons, but if that is too much, I will accept 3 galleons."
"6 galleons would be fine. Do you think we can meet in the Gryffindor common room tomorrow? Unless you have something already planned. I know some people have other things to do on the weekend. I can get you a guest passcode and text it to your phone."
"Tomorrow works just fine."
"Also, I like your new hairstyle. Not that I didn't like your old hairstyle. Both of them look good on you." Hugo stumbles over his words. "I'm sorry if that came out weird. See you tomorrow."
"It wasn't weird. Thank you. See you tomorrow."
Rosie smirks and we make our way to our seat. I put food on my plate and Rosie does the same.
"So, are we just going to ignore the fact Hugo Granger-Weasley just asked you to do a portrait for his parents? Also, he complimented your hair."
"It's just another job, nothing more. Also, a few people noticed I changed my hair."
I take a bite of my dinner, and I turn and see Rosie still staring at me. "What?"
"You've been crushing on Hugo for the last 2 years. Maybe this is your chance. Also, it was really cute how he was stumbling over his words."
I blush "Maybe he was just trying to make sure he knew he was complimenting me."
Rosie smirks and we continue eating and catching up with the rest of our friends on our day. I gaze over at the Gryffindor table and make eye contact with Hugo, who responds with a subtle smile before turning to his friends.
