Mustering all the strength he could he said, "Crazy woman." though his mother lectured him many times to never speak out like this, right now he needed to voice his opinions. Even though his physical pain was too much already, the mental pain of not replying to Videl would be the thing that breaks him.

After saying these words, he strangely felt better and he bet that if he really tried hard, he could get up however he didn't move just yet.

This time he heard a male voice, definitely Sharpner's, say, "Yeah he is looking fine, should we start training then? He could join when he gets up." Gohan didn't have a mirror right now but he knew that if he had one, he would only see a broken man both physically and mentally. He did not understand where Sharpner got 'looking fine' from, not at all.

Videl spoke again, "You start warming up with Erasa, I'll come in a bit." then after a few moment Videl said, "Get up already, I know you aren't dying or anything. You just spat a bit of blood when you crashed and that's it."

'Crashed' and 'spat blood' made Gohan understand what happened, he had missed a step and that made him go flying off the treadmill. He was lucky to have not broken any part of his body, he knew that he had to ability to get up however he had to fight through the pain to do it.

So he struggled until he got to a sitting position then gave his all to get up by getting support from the wall he crashed into to get up. His vision cleared and he saw that he flew from the treadmill all the way to the other side of the room and the wall had cracked where he hit it.

The voice he heard snapped him out of his shock, "Go wash your face then I'll explain what happened, the bathrooms are in the back." and pointed towards a corner of the gym. Gohan started to drag his feet towards that place.

While moving there Gohan started to hate how big this place was. Even though he knew that he was moving slowly, it should have felt closer regardless.

After what felt like an eternity, he finally reached the bathrooms and took a look at himself in the mirror. Surprisingly there wasn't a lot indications of how much pain he was feeling on the outside. All that looked wrong was the extreme paleness that gave him a look right out of a vampire movie and some blood dripping from his mouth.

He washed his face and spat out as much blood as he could until it stopped. By the time he was done the pain he was feeling had substantially decreased and colour had returned to his face. Now that he got a clear head again, he could think about the absurdity of the situation.

Somehow he was running so fast that he flew across the entire room, which was probably a couple dozen meters, and crashed hard enough into a wall to crack it. Yet right now he was feeling relatively normal other than some pain that was not only bearable, he barely felt it.

This was something he needed to ask Videl. He knew that a normal person would be hospitalized for months under same conditions if they didn't die and he didn't think this could be answered with just "good genes" this was bordering on supernatural.

Videl on the same place waiting for him, she said when he came close, "What took you so long?" as if his current condition was something she expected.

"How?" Gohan asked. This one word was the common denominator of all of his many questions. And he trusted Videl to understands all of them.

Not disappointing Gohan, Videl started answering, "Well, 'how' you fell is that I stopped the treadmill because 30 minutes had passed since you started running and didn't think you'd want to run past your time limit. I even shouted that I was going to stop it."

Though Gohan knew the meaning of each of the words he just heard, when put together, he couldn't fathom their meaning. Videl stopped the treadmill while he was running on it? Didn't slow it down or anything but caused him to fall?

He shouted, "Why would you do to that?" to which she immediately replied:

"Why didn't you get ready after I warned you? I told you I was stopping it in a minute, I shouted it even."

Gohan didn't think before replying, "I did not hear that. I was running." he knew that he also had a bit of a fault if Videl had really shouted at him that she was going to stop the treadmill. Still she should have realized that he didn't heard her.

She suddenly smirked and started talking, "Now, 'how' you were running is a more interesting question. I never saw someone who stayed in runner's high for so long, it was probably up to 20 minutes or so and it seemed like you would have continued to be in that state had I not pulled you out."

Gohan furrowed his brows and asked, "What is a 'runner's high'? I don't remember anything like what happened in the club the other day."

"No, no, runner's high isn't anything like that. I am sure while you were running you felt detached from the world and your body took over your movements rather than your conscious decisions, that is runner's high." Videl explain and she was right on the money. Gohan felt exactly as she described. However he didn't intend to tell he felt this way while swimming yesterday, he didn't want her to think that he was interested in training or anything he simply had too much energy.

Videl then pointed towards the crack at the wall, "Now, 'how' you survived that is something you'll see by following me. That you can also learn 'how' you ran that fast." and started walking towards the only place of the gym where noise was coming from. He was finally going to see Erasa and Sharpner training.

However what he saw was something completely unexpected. He played baseball and tennis against both so he knew that they were strong, however Erasa was swimming against the fastest current he had ever seen in an endless pool while Sharpner was doing handstand push ups with weight tied to his legs, if Gohan didn't count wrong, that looked like 50 kilograms per leg. Let alone in that position, Gohan didn't know if he could lift 100 kilograms at all.

They didn't react at all to the footsteps coming their way however when Videl said, "See, these are impossible feats as well, this endless pool would rip apart a normal person and those weight, in that position, would turn a normal person's spine to dust." they immediately stopped. Erasa hit the back of the endless pool while Sharpner's form collapsed the weights hit all over his body.

Sharpner looked up to see what was going on and the emotion Gohan saw in his eyes was definitely fear. Videl said, "Calm down, continue on. I should pull out Erasa though." and immediately jumped a dozen meters to the end of the endless pool and grabbed out Erasa who was stuck there by the current.

He realized that Erasa's situation was very similar to his own if not worse, she was being blasted for a good half minutes so he looked to see how she looked. And surprisingly not only did she look fine, she didn't even seem out of breath.

Erasa looked at him and said, "Haha, this is a particularly embarrassing first showing, if I knew you were here as well I would have held on for a bit longer to look cool." and laughed.

Gohan asked Videl, "So again, how am I doing this as well? I never did training like these. Not even close." that was still the biggest question he had.

"You will not accept it when I tell you, but it is because of your good genes. You were simply born to mold your body into perfection." Videl in a calm and soft way. Gohan guessed this was her way of trying to be understanding but it didn't work.

He forced himself to smile and then said, "After what just happened, I am feeling that the energy within me is pretty much down to normal levels, so I'll go home, thanks for show my around your house Videl. And got up.

From behind him he heard a shout, "Tell one of the housekeepers around to show you the way out and call a taxi." from Videl and he showed a thumbs up. He didn't really want to talk right now.

While he was going back home Gohan thought why he had to be born into this body of all the possible in the world. If what Videl said was right, he was born to train. Thinking about it, it was extremely likely that his mother knew about this as well, otherwise he wouldn't keep him away from any and all physical activities.

Did he really have no choice other than disappointing his mother and training instead of studying? This weekend he was going back home to visit his mother and brother. While he was coming they had agreed that he would come back every other weekend. Originally her mother wanted him to come back every week but after learning about the Capsule Copter Taxi prices, she even said, "Staying at Satan City for a year alone shouldn't be a problem right?"

That was pretty absurd to Gohan now that he learned how rich his father was however. He could afford going back home every day and his mother should have known how rich his father was as well. Gohan wondered why his mother worried about money.

Next two days, the energy Gohan awoke with every day was hard to deal with, although he tried to tough it out, he went swimming regardless. He could only hope this wouldn't happen back at his home because he didn't know how his mother would react to him training with only a small facade of swimming.

He took a look at the Satan City from above after the Capsule Copter took off and he got ready to see his mother after two weeks.

Looking at his old home after seeing mansions and skyscrapers daily gave a weird feeling to him, it looked insignificant and small. And not in a good way, it didn't look cozy or anything. However Gohan shook his head. What was important was the contents within it.

Gohan knocked the door and eagerly waited to see his mother again. He felt it was a shame that he couldn't share the happiness of going to his dream school with his mother on the first day of entering school.

The voice that urged him to go further in life and never stagnate in mediocrity came from beyond this door of a small Capsule House, "Coming!" Gohan couldn't wait to see his house again, to see if anything changed, if his brother grew or if his mother got older.

Finally the door opened and he saw the figure of his mother exactly as he remembered it, when she saw him, she said, "Gohan! You are a bit early. I thought you would be here tomorrow."

Gohan replied, "It's good to see you mother. I wanted to spend another night with you and Goten." perhaps spending another night in Satan City and swimming for a few hours in the morning before coming home would have been much safer.

But in the face of seeing his mother and brother more, some risk was acceptable. He bet he would be able to stand that energy for a day.

Suddenly a short and orange figure jumped towards and Gohan caught it, this thing was his brother Goten, "Brother! You came!" with a radiant smile on his face. Gohan felt that nothing was as cute as his brother after seeing moments like this.

"Of course I did. I told you I would come soon, didn't I?" he replied and patted his brother.

His mother said, "Come in now, come in. Let's not stand outside." and showed him inside the house. In spite of his expectations, this place looked exactly like how he left it. From the furniture to the decoration to even the flowers, there wasn't any single change he could single out.

This was disappointing to Gohan but he didn't know why, two weeks was a very short time frame anyways. But somehow it felt much longer than what his brain was telling him.

Disappointment however didn't last long as what he smelled from the kitchen felt like it was specifically engineered to please his sense of smell. He had always loved his mother's food however separation for a few weeks made his love all that stronger.

He said, "Your food is smelling heavenly as always mother." while he put his backpack with some books and some personal items to the side.

She laughed and replied, "You know you could have just said you were hungry, wait a few moments and we'll have dinner together, all right sweety?" Gohan was glad that her mother seemed as she ever was.

When his mother went back to the kitchen, his brother immediately said with an expectant look on his face, "You promised you'd tell me about the city when you came back."

Gohan looked at this little kid who was much more interested about the outside world than he was at his age and started talking, however though he had to omit most of the interesting stuff. He talked about his house, the buses, the roads, cars and capsule copters, he described his school and his classroom.

Of course, from his own perspective these were only a small part of his experience, insignificant really but to his brother this was a completely different world.

Finally his mother called them to the dinner and Gohan barely stopped himself from lunging at the table. Gohan sat at the table and waited his mother to start before picking up his utensils. He had to follow the table etiquette he was thought since childhood lest he get lectured by his mother until morning.

With each spoonful of soup he drank and each bite of home baked bread he ate, he understood how much he was missing in the last few days by eating fast food. Though he came back so late from swimming, he still should have tried to cook at home.

His mother asked, "So Gohan, how is life in the big city? I am sure you forgot all about here until you had to return." in a cheeky way.

"It was just life as it is life here mother. I am busy studying anyways, it isn't the time yet to live the big city life." Gohan replied. Though he felt bad about lying, he knew this was the answer his mother would have wanted. Perhaps he shouldn't have gone to night clubs with his friends but he couldn't refuse the way Erasa invited him.

She seemed pleased at his response, then asked, "Good good, how is your studying going then? I assume there are no problems."

He didn't skip a beat before replying, "Of course not mother. Thanks to you, I am way ahead of the curriculum, I am sure to get the top score possible in all exams." any other answer would have landed him in hot water however there wasn't any lie in anything he said anyways. In these two weeks he became certain that he would be the top scorer of Orange High.

With a hearty laugh and a clearly good mood, his mother said, "Of course you are, who's son are you?"

After finishing the first serving of each meal, Gohan asked for seconds, as he knew that he'd be way too hungry he ate a lot before coming but he didn't correctly guess how deep his stomach truly was.

When he finished the seconds and asked for the thirds, he suddenly felt like he was in immediate danger for whatever reason and his muscles tensed up. Searching for what the threat was and he found it.

His mother looked at him with her piercing black eyes straight on. His instincts were telling him that if he looked away, he would be devoured by a predator. Her expression didn't look any different than before however her eyes didn't have the same brightness they had a few minutes ago.

She started talking, "You are really hungry Gohan, you must be hungry but if you indulge yourself, you'll gain weight, don't you know? Girls don't like boys like that."

Gohan didn't know if he could even gain weight no matter how much he ate. No matter how much he ate the night before, he still woke up with a completely flat stomach, his metabolism must have been insane.

However regardless, he had to answer his mother extremely carefully. A slip up would be terrible.

Picking each of his words had been tough to do within the single second after his mother's sentence finished however he constructed a response that seemed like something he would have believed two weeks ago.

"Haha, it might be the mental fatigue making me think I got hungry too. Traveling three hours on a Capsule copter made me feel tired for whatever reason. Regardless any excuse to eat more of your cooking is enough for me."

Suddenly his muscles relaxed again and his mother looked away from him to put another serving, she started to talk again however her voice was relatively calm unlike that happy and excited voice she had all dinner, "Gohan can you tell me a normal day you spend at the city, I would be very worried for you if you are tired like this every day. From what I know your day to day commute is considered quite long."

Feeling of relaxation in his muscles affected Gohan's mind as well and he answered honestly, "I wake up about at the same time as I used to here, then I need to take a bus that comes to a stop near my house there, it is just ten minutes of walking, after 6 stops, I got off and get onto another bus that goes directly in front of the school."

His mother asked, "How long this takes?" while shooing Goten away to study. Apparently this talk was going to take a while Gohan thought.

"About an hour or so unless the roads are closed because of a robbery or something, I come to the school a fair bit before the first lesson starts." he replied.

His mother furrowed her brows and said, "What do you mean by 'robbery or something'? Is that something you encountered?" Gohan was glad to see his mother worried for him.

He answered to calm her as quickly as possible, he didn't like her being worried, "Sometimes people rob banks or jewelers or stuff and the police have to block roads that the bus would have gone through otherwise. It only happened to me twice though, so I have been lucky so far." when he looked he saw his mother in deep thinking.

She muttered, "I think it'd be safer to rob buses though…" under her breath however Gohan didn't really understand what this was supposed to mean.

His mother signaled for him to continue and he did, "At school we have 7-8 lessons a day, at least one literature and one math but the rest change every day."

A question he should have expected came after he finished speaking, "Is it 7 or 8 lessons per day? Or does it change?"

Gohan knew he cornered himself but he didn't ever want to lie if possible, he said, "There is physical education at the end of every day however I don't really count it as a lesson."

Muscles of his that had relaxed just now tensed up again for no reason and his mother starting talking, "Physical education? Can't you skip it to go study a bit earlier? That would be a more productive way to spend your time."
