Chapter 8: Infiltrate
Freddy and the gang got physically kicked off the property of town hall by security. "Come back here again, and you will all be arrested by the police for trespassing," said one of the security personnel, before they shut the front doors. Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Fredbear dusted themselves off.
"Gee, at least that didn't end off things worse," said Freddy, "Could've ended with bats up our rears." "Been in the lock-up once, don't need to visit there again," said Fredbear. "Thank goodness we didn't get arrested, but this is gonna be EXTREMELY awkward to explain to Buster," added Bonnie.
Later that night on video chat
"How did you fall for the mayor's bribes twice???" Buster exclaimed. "I don't know, specially chosen tickets?" Chica replied. "That minted bastart got us by the necks when he mentioned the very things we liked!" added Foxy.
Buster leaned back in his chair facepalming. "Okay, well getting information out of the mayor is now out of the question," he said, "If you guys are gonna want to stop both Friedlander and Monty, risks might have to be taken." "Huh?" asked Freddy, "What are you talking about?" "How should I put this?" Buster continued, "Infiltrating some of the buildings owned by the town. Specifically the ones in the downtown area. I don't know what's in there, but givin the fact that I've heard Monty was in them a few days before your guys situation happened, perhaps you will be in luck with finding somethings."
"What are we? Spies now?" asked Foxy, "Might as well have threw away me sea legs deep into the ocean just to some sort of high tech landlubber." "To be fair, it's better than sitting around and doing nothing else," said Fredbear. "Wait a minute Buster," Freddy said, "You work with the town, right? How come you won't enter there to check for us?"
There was a little bit of silence, as everyone looked at Buster. He looked a bit disappointed. "Yeah, that is a good point," he said, "Umm, I was just hoping to make things eventful for your guy's sake at seeing if there was anything." "Oh yeah, let a couple of entertainers go to a town owned building with no experience in infiltrating," Chica said sarcastically, "Gee, sounds like a recipe! A recipe for disaster." "Now that I think about it, yeah, it probably would've been a disaster," Buster said.
"If you're looking around for us, what can we do?" asked Bonnie. "I have a job that is simple and easy for you guys to do," said Buster.
Later...
Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy are on separate rooftops in the downtown area. They all had walkie-talkies and binoculars. "This is NOT what I had in mind," said Bonnie through it. "Your brother is an arse!" said Foxy. "The walkie-talkies are hooked to my earpiece Foxy!" said Buster, as he walked down the street and to one of the buildings, "So I can hear everything you guys say." "Is that so?" said Chica, "If you wanna hear my side of this, I think this is an exaggerated idea. It's not like anyone is gonna be following you." "Oh yeah, should I even mention what Buster had my dad do while we do this?" Freddy said, "He lied to him by giving him a list of things to buy that could aid in our assistance. But you wanna know what it really was? A shopping list. A damn shopping list!"
"Just be happy I gave you guys something to do!" Buster said, "I need you 4 as my eyes anyway. You never know who could be watching or who could get suspicious of me. I especially need to know if anyone shows up while I'm inside any of the buildings." "What about the cameras?" asked Freddy, "Aren't you worried about them?" "I am," Buster replied, "But if I feel like things get too risky, I'll try leaving or not search too hard into it."
Buster got to the first building. It was a grey 6 story building that looked like it was built in the late 1970s or early 1980s. "Well guys, here I go," he said. Buster used his ID card to get into there. There didn't seem to be anyone present in the building, aside from a few security cameras here and there. Luckily for Buster, there weren't many in the building.
Sadly though, he couldn't find anything of interest. Buster had tried going through the filing cabinets, but most of them were just filled with papers that weren't relevant to the situation. Even when he searched all of the building in the hopes of finding something, there was nothing that could aid them. It was disappointing, but Buster wasn't necessarily surprised either.
"Bad news guys," he said, hoping his brother and his friends were listening, "Can't find anything of interest in this place. Has anything changed since then? Is there any security around or anyone showing up to this particular building?" "No, nothing has changed," said Freddy, "The only thing that's changed is the wind up here." "The higher you are, the windier it gets," added Chica.
Buster left the first building and moved onto the next one. This one was pretty close to the one he was just in. It wasn't clear or determined how old the building was, but it was an older brick one and had to be at least 100 years old or more. Just like before, Buster used his ID to get inside. However, there seemed to be someone present in the building. At first, he thought it might have been security, but in reality, it was just a janitor, who was a German Shepherd.
"Can I help you?" he asked. "Just coming in to check on some files," Buster replied, "And don't worry, I work with the town, as I'm sure you saw from my ID. Do you know where I can find the file room? Or where recent files would be?" "It's on the second floor, along the corridor, at the final room," said the janitor. "Thanks!" said Buster.
There seemed to be no security cameras anywhere in the building. This automatically made Buster feel a little more at peace with what he was dealing with. Eventually, after getting to the staircase, he got to the second floor and made his way down the corridor, to the file room. Buster used his ID to get in there and he was greeted with a ton of filing cabinets.
Meanwhile on the rooftops, Freddy and his friends saw something that caught their attention. There was a black SUV pulling into the front of the building Buster was currently in. "Ay! Do ya see what I see?" asked Foxy, through the walkie-talkie. "Does it involve a black SUV?" asked Bonnie. "No, it's me collection of baseball cards," Foxy replied sarcastically, "Of course it's a black SUV!" "Hey Buster," said Freddy, "I think there's-" "I said it before and I'll say it again, I can hear everything you guys say through the walkie-talkies!" said Buster, "I found some files with some interesting notes. I'm putting them in my backpack right now. There's more I wanna check out. Let me know if they get out of the vehicle and go into the building."
One person got out of the vehicle and the vehicle itself drove away. However, the person that got out seemed like no one suspicious. In fact, they just walked down the street, opposite of where Buster was in. "Nevermind, it was just someone being dropped off," said Freddy. "Ah, thank god," said Buster, "I was worried I wouldn't get the chance to pick these up. Trust me when I say these are things you want to look at."
After Buster got everything he felt like he needed and checking some more files, he left the building and moved onto the final one. This one as actually a little farther than the previous two. The building looked like the newest and most up to date one. It was built in the early to mid 2000s. Unfortunately though, there were a ton of security cameras around, so it's possible that not a whole lot could be explored.
"Guys, we might have a problem," said Buster, "This place looks to have cameras litered throughout. I might work with the town, but I've only been in the town owned buildings, especially this one, a handful of times." "Just do what you can," said Chica, "It's not worth getting yourself caught over it if it looks too risky." Bonnie thought to himself, "She has such a way with words."
Suddenly, Foxy began to intrude in on his thoughts. "Really laddie? Chica's just givin ye brother advice." "Come on Foxy! Stop intruding into other's thoughts! How did you even learn doing that in the first place?" "I was visiting me ma in California last year, when a Badger came up to me and wanted to teach me how to intrude into other's minds. I believed he was a pure goon, until he gave me this green drink. Man, that's when the hallucinations really started to settle in, I mean like-" "Skip to the important part." "Turns out he wasn't a goon and that drink taught me the ways of how to go into other's minds. But case and point, ye don't need to keep swooning over Chica. One day, yer gonna have to tell her how ye feel. To be honest, ye two wouldn't be a bad couple either. I mean, ye two have known each other for aboot 10 years, give or take. What's stoppin ye from goin for it?"
Before Bonnie could respond through his mind, he and Foxy's thoughts got interrupted by Buster's voice coming through their walkie-talkies. "Fuck!" he yelled, "There's security cameras all over the place and I haven't even gotten through the main hall yet!"
And he was right, there were security cameras in more places than there should have been. Just the lobby alone spoke for itself. And if the lobby was bad, then it's not off to a great start. Unfortunately for Buster, when he found the file room, there was a security camera right outside of it. "There's a camera right outside of the file room," said Buster, "Gonna have to abort mission. Sorry guys, but it's too risky to take."
