HELP! How The Fuck Do I First Woman!? (Hazbin Hotel - Eve SI Chapter 6)
Sera smiled as she watched Eve make up with the kangaroo.
Sera made her body take the physical action of taking in a gentle breath and letting out in a long sigh. A sigh of relief, she reminded herself. Different from a normal sigh, which was for exasperation.
Having to act out physical emotions, even if she wasn't seen by the humans was a good habit to get into, she thought. Adam and Lilith were too unnerved by the Seraphim when they first interacted with them, as they seemed like they "didn't have emotions".
The Second Lilith really was coming along nicely. She was far more compliant and dutiful than Lilith was.
Even Adam seemed taken with her, as they relationship built without too much conflict or friction. Truly the Lord was Wise to have taken the Seraphim's creation of Eve and add His final touches to her before imbuing her with Life.
Having Eve made already containing Knowledge had led to her growing into a better Lilith. There was currently debate among the Elder Council of Heaven if they should ask Eve about the extent of her Knowledge. Some suggested simply looking into Eve's mind at this Knowledge, for maybe the Lord had left some instructions of sorts for them.
Others suggested to just leave things be since if Eve was made with Knowledge from the Lord and she hasn't delivered any messages from God yet, then they shouldn't overstep and look at what the Lord didn't deem them ready for.
Sera felt amusement and joy (remembering to physical spread her lips slightly curved upwards, a smile), as she looked back at Eve's actions related to the test the Seraphim gave her. They assigned her to take on Adam's duty for a try. To see things from his perspective, so as not to fall into discontent like Lilith did as not being given the duty of Naming as well, as thus thought herself lesser than Adam.
There was no need for Adam to be assigned Eve's duty for a interval as the Seraphim had already done that for a time when Lilith was around. The duty outside of the joint Tasks for tending to their farm and cultivating life, plant and animal. For First Man, it is the Naming, for the First Woman it is maintaining the harmony between the living beings of the garden.
Lilith first had this role, commanding the animals into compliance when they came into conflict, back then she used to do so with gentle but firm presence and voice, before decreeing how the conflict would be resolved. Adam at first was clueless on how to maintain harmony in the garden, but looked at Lilith's example and followed it to success. For some reason this increased Lilith's building animosity at the time.
Back to Eve. The point of the test was to show Eve's folly in how she compared to Adam when it came to this particular Task, so as to stay humble and appreciate the things she was good at.
Eve's method of maintaining harmony between the living beings in the Garden was too... involved. She didn't just listen to the main conflict a group of animals would bring her, and then make a judgement. Rather she would go out to investigate all sides, truly look into the lives of the beings she was judging before making her decisions.
Eve at first always tried to solve conflicts by making solution both sides were happy with. But as more issues arose, her method more and more didn't seem to always be applicable. For a while Sera thought she should advise Adam to step in and teach Eve that a firm hand was sometimes needed to steering the lower creatures.
But then when a hog got too arrogant for its place, splashing mud upon Eve, she showed her queenly side as the Second Lilith, ordering the hog to bow down and apologies for the meerkats upon whom he encroached on their territory. Sera felt herself reassured, as it seemed like Eve didn't need help in upholding her role. That even if she didn't prefer to use the threat of authority and violence, she would not shy away from it.
Although speak of violence... As Sera thought back to Eve's test, she really didn't expect how it went.
Eve didn't show Humility during the test. Rather the Virtue she demonstrated was Diligence, which wasn't what the Seraphim were looking for but it was a welcome surprise to be sure.
Eve didn't even try to use her Knowledge, but rather the knowledge she gained from observing Adam, and learning how to Name while going through the attempt.
Eve's First Naming was of an Idea that Adam had proposed. It was a kind and intimate thing he proposed that the Seraphim approve of. However the point was still for Eve to show Humility and ask for help. When Sera tried to get Eve to stop and seek her husband's aid, Eve snapped back as would be expected of the Second Lilith... but then demonstrated Humility in a different way.
By apologizing to Sera and requesting for her to continue her own trial, so as to seek her accomplishment by her own merits.
It was such an unexpected outcome that, Sera couldn't help but consider the test as succeed. Eve had demonstrated Humility, she knew her own limits, knew when she overstepped her bounds and to be humble, and only acted out of her seemingly core Virtue of Diligence. Thus Sera reported back to the Elder Council the success of the Second Lilith, and watched as Eve struggled but ultimately succeeded in her self-assigned Task.
Eve took about as long as Lilith to complete her First Naming. Seraphiel was about to praise her but was surprised by Eve's aggressiveness at the Just Made creature.
...Actually her aggressiveness far exceeded anything Lilith had ever shown.
Sure Eve was tired, very much mentally from the Naming, and Adam seemed to excuse her behavior, but Sera frowned in worry.
Were the qualities of Lilith appearing too much when Eve loses control of herself?
Yet once again, Eve understands when she has erred, as she would later in the day meet up with the falcon, apologize for her attitude, while gifting the bird with food she had gathered and prepared.
Sera wondered if she was worrying too much. Maybe the Second Lilith was better, already demonstrating Virtues without needing guidance for it. It must be a result of the Lord's parting gift of Knowledge.
Sadly the Elder Council wasn't fully reassured yet, as they wished for the Second Lilith to be perfect like Adam, and not demonstrate the traits that made Lilith be a Failed First Woman.
To compound on this Lucifer and Lilith had approached Sera.
It had been... quite a long time now since she had seen them, as they lived on Earth away from the Garden.
It seemed in that time away Lucifer and Lilith had heard about Eve and were observing her like the Elder Council that didn't yet interact with her.
Sera supposed this would be natural curiosity.
While Lucifer and Lilith were exiled from Eden, they weren't forbidden from viewing it. But then why would they when Lilith wished to leave it so much. Lucifer probably looks into Eden from time to time, as it was the closest to Heaven he's be able to witness as he had been banished from it.
Sera also had to consider that... Once upon a time, Adam and Lucifer were friends. Maybe Lucifer was just checking in, even if his guilt held him from acting till now.
The Elder Council allowed Lucifer and Lilith's observations. A punishment. A reminder of what their actions had lost them.
Yet when they approached Sera the Exiled Duo seemed genuinely remorseful. They seemed to want to mend the broke bridge that was their past relationship with Adam. Lilith even showed concern for her replacement, after Eve's actions upon her second test. Lucifer however was fascinated by Eve's implementation of his Idea, even if it was changed so much till it became the Kangaroo.
"Sera, I fear that Eve might be pushed too hard by the expectations you all placed upon her. That was one of the reasons for my original discontent."
Lilith had offered her own insight on the matter.
And true, the result of the second test caused much more argument among the Elder Council.
Eve was Diligent. She persistently kept working on Lucifer's abandoned Idea, till it could be viable for Earth. Yet unlike with the falcon rather than be verbally aggressive with the Being... Eve fought it.
Eve had created a creature that could be an actual threat to humans in a confrontation, and then actually fought it.
Quite frankly Sera didn't understand where this anger came from. Yes, Eve was frustrated with how difficult and nonfunctional Lucifer's Ideas could be, Sera can definitely relate, but for that to turn into rage?
It was quite the worry for the Elder Council, so Sera couldn't help but think that Lilith's words had merit.
But while Adam and her managed to separate Eve from the kangaroo, the two still met up and fought later on.
Multiple times.
Eve had even created Wrestling Moves, and something called a Bulldog.
How was that terrifying move a combination of a Dog and a Bull, Sera did not know. She only understood what bulldog as a wrestling move meant now.
The Kangaroo and the First Woman would even at times hunt and ambush the other.
The animosity reached such a level that, Sera was about to intervene, but somehow the anger was washed away from the human and the animal. Eve apologized to the kangaroo and explained where her anger came from, to which the kangaroo seemed to have already figured out somehow.
"I wasn't angry at you. I was angry at the fucking idiot who originally created you. Honestly had you been Made as is, you'd have had a very terrible and short miserable life."
The kangaroo clicked his mouth a few times, nodded and beeped in understanding, to which Eve patted his head in return.
Later on Eve would even defend the kangaroo when the other animals tried to bully it, thinking the conflict with the First Woman meant the animal was easy prey to pile on. Eve put a stop to that, giving a stern warning for now animal to bully others unprovoked.
Then she and the kangaroo fought again.
That... confused and worried. Adam was informed about this development, and he went to confront Eve about it.
...To which Eve somehow convinced Adam to try and fight the kangaroo as well.
What?
They were fighting but... there was no animosity. There was no defiance to the authority of the First Man or First Woman. This was even more uncharted territory, in a way that even the Seraphim weren't sure of, as it didn't follow as structured plan they had.
Adam seemed to enjoy the bout of physical aggression. He even seemed to enjoy it more than Eve.
Is this good? Bad? Is this bad behavior corrupting the Perfect Adam?
Do they put a stop to this behavior now, and remind the humans and animals of their difference, positions and roles? Or let this new harmonious social interaction continue?
During all of this Lucifer and Lilith reached out to Sera, and after everything, Sera still hoped that one day Adam, Lucifer and Lilith would regain the bonds they once had. That Sera would regain the brother she once lost.
So maybe enough time had past and now Eve can be the catalyst to mend their severed bonds.
Thus Sera allowed Lucifer and Lilith back into the Garden. She went to tell Adam about it.
Another day, another Task done. And now to have fun in paradise.
Wonder what should I do today?
Go with that penguin sliding idea on an ice mountain? No wait, first I need to Make penguins. I had asked Adam and Sera subtly about it with Naming anything, but no bird with the description of the penguin existed.
Maybe I can ask if I can Make the Being, Idea and all from start to finish? It would certainly be something neat to try.
I'll have to talk to Sera about it.
"Hello."
A voice greeted me.
A new voice.
Something approaching me is fine. Nothing is really dangerous in the Garden.
It's actually something that surprised me that my fight or flight fear response never seemed to trigger in the Garden.
Until now. Not because I was in danger, but an anxiety I haven't felt since my rebirth awoke in me as I looked behind me.
I saw a woman. A tall woman, about as tall as Adam, with long blonde hair that almost reached her feet.
I knew who she was. I knew what this is.
"I'm Lilith," she introduced herself with a smile. Sharp, confident, as if she knew everything and everything was going her way. I held back my urge to frown, or to give her a deadpan stare. "You must be Eve, right?" She continued. "I've been wanting to meet you for a while now. Although I don't think you'd have heard about me."
"..." I said nothing. Looking around subtly without turning my head, wondering where the other L was.
She huffed with a chuckle. "I suppose not. I don't think the Angels would seldom tell you about their 'failures'." She continued talking despite my silence.
"...Riiiight." I outright stopped looking at her and just looked around for Lucifer.
Somehow she took that to me being shy about meeting her.
Lilith sighed. "Look at you, they have reduced you so much from me. So scared and demure."
I stopped. I blinked as I registered what she just said.
Slowly I looked back at Lilith, an incredulous smile spread on my face.
Bitch. Say. What?
I think my expression might have clue her in that she misstepped, as she looked thrown off, maybe even unnerved now.
I'm not even offended, I'm just trying to stop myself from laughing at the hilarious shit she just spewed.
"Well, maybe not so." She said.
Before this conversation could continued, we heard the loud gruff growl of Kara the Kangaroo.
I turned to her to see an exasperated look on the face of my wrestling friend's (Jeff the Kangaroo's) wife. A look of "I'm so done with this shit".
Lilith groaned in embarrassment upon see the scene.
"And wow, there's so much room here!"
I had found Lucifer.
He popped his head out from the kangaroo's pouch. Upon seeing us noticing him, the white faced clown with red dots for cheeks waved.
"Hey, girls! Oh, and hey, Eve. I'm Lucifer." He said excitedly.
I couldn't hold back my dry stare anymore.
"Please get out of Kara's bag, only her mate should be that deep in her."
