A book can change one's life.

I always loved reading. It was a hobby that helped me escape the realities of my life. My mother got me into reading when I was young. It was a great way to pass the time between peace rallies and protests. To ignore the pressures of hate focused upon our people…

Upon me for being the daughter of the two most influential Faunus in Remnant.

Even other Faunus look down on me for who I am. Try to use me to get to my parents. …I barely have any friends… I have one who taught me how to use the sword, but my father recently told me to be wary of him.

I'm just not sure anymore… He stepped down from leadership, and while all loved him, I wanted to do something more… So, should I listen? Adam wants me to join the new White Fang… I'm so confused.

I should take my time and think about it. I have several new books to get my mind off these issues. One about a boy with two souls and ninjas… I can't thank Mom enough for not thinking it was silly that I wanted to train to become a ninja, and she even found teachers for me…

Now, where was that book… Hm…

Why is the page glowing… AH!

Everything was aching. Her muscles were sore. She felt like she had been through a day of training with her trainers… Or a day training with swords with Adam…

Not to mention, her head felt like it was split open. Where was she?

The last thing she remembered was thinking about joining the White Fang with her friend and mentor, Adam, and her father's warning about it. She had taken a moment to read her newest book. It had mysteriously glowed the moment she had opened it…

"Ugh…" Dilated golden eyes flickered open, attempting to analyze what was around. She quickly closed them as her stomach churned and knotted. Her world swirled as vertigo hit, and she felt vile crawling up her esophagus.

Everything was so blurry, but what she could tell was there was green and brown. A forest? Why was there orange and black, though? And blonde? Wait, what was this pressure on her stomach? And this rocking back and forth…

Was she on someone's shoulder?

"Oh, you awake?" A loud, obnoxious voice echoed and caused the ears on the top of her head to fold.

"My stomach…" Blake muttered, scrunching her face as the vertigo she was experiencing intensified.

"Put her down, idiot!" A shrill voice shrieked at the obnoxious one, causing her ears to recede further into her head. Thankfully, she felt herself gently placed on the rough, dusty road, only to feel a weird hand press against her head.

She gasped as the strangest sensation pulsed through her. Blake's eyes snapped open, and she saw feminine hands glowing as they slowly swept over her. It was only moments, but she felt the vertigo faded, and her vision was restored. Any weakness in her muscles disappeared.

The hand retreated, and she could see a girl roughly her age with shoulder-length pink hair beam at her. "There. That should take care of the issue. My name is Haruno Sakura. Nice to meet you!"

"I… Um…" Blake stuttered, baffled at how quickly a simple touch took of her vertigo and upset stomach. She knew there were healing Semblances and Aura was regenerative. Still, she hadn't heard of any of them being so effective and Auras regenerative being able to take care of simple sicknesses.

So she was confused about what this girl just did. Deciding to put that aside, she tried to put together where she was. It is evident from a glance that it was a forest and that she was with a group of three. She discovered the blur of blonde, orange, and black. So he was carrying her… But why? She didn't want to expect anything since his friend generously healed her, but…

Why was she out here?

And why was the adult of her scrutinizing her every movement?

Frowning, unsure of anything at the moment, she looked back at Sakura, her ears folded on her head, and her head sunk. "Sorry… I'm perplexed right now. My name is Blake Belladonna… What's going on right now? Where am I? Last thing I remember was being in my room…"

"Nani!" The blonde loudly shouted, causing her to recoil and lean back. He was so loud… "That's not good! That sounds like you were kidnapped, and you fought back and escaped! Don't worry, we'll find the guys that did this…"

"Baka!" Sakura yelled at the blonde, squinting at him with her hand raised before pulling it back and rolling her eyes as he flinched. "Don't interrupt, Naruto. I know you want to do something, but jumping to conclusions is the worst thing we can do. Let's hear the story first."

"Sakura is right." The man with silver, gravity-defying hair and a single eye measured her, his lips beneath his mask pursing. "But let us bring her back to Lady Hokage in any case. If Naruto is correct, she could use privacy and protection. Besides, speaking in the open is never wise."

With his lone eye shifting to the shadows of the forest, his lips beneath his mask turned to a frown. He felt something, but he couldn't pinpoint the sensation. It was unsettling. He felt like they had been followed since they had left Suna.

Pocketing his hands, he tilted to continue forward. "You never know who may be watching. Can you move on your own? We'll take you back to Konoha and get a start on sorting out a mission for you. It may be free of charge, considering how we found you."

"Um, yes." Blake nodded, standing up, still surprised at how spry she felt after a simple pass of Sakura's healing touch before glancing over at Sakura. "Not sure how you cared for my ailments like that, but I'm good to go."

"Huh? That's pretty basic medical jutsu that all doctors and medics would know even in the towns outside the Hidden Villages." Sakura scowled, placing her hand on her hips, her brow furrowing.

Blake's ears lifted and stiffened, stumbled upon hearing that. What did she mean by that was a basic medical jutsu! Wait…

Jutsu.

Her eyes flickered. She recognized that name. That was what ninjas called their…

"Hey, hey, hey! What's wrong?!" Naruto leapt over and caught Blake as she crumpled into a heap, her eyes rolling into the back of her head. "What the heck?"

"Did she just faint?"

This couldn't be possible. How did she end up inside her book?!

She was standing before the main character! His pink-haired partner! His sensei! His village chief! She just had a blonde-haired girl go through her memories!

She had to be dreaming! Yes! That was what this had to be! She was so excited to get to the next chapter of his life story that she imagined all of this! Of course! All she needed to do was snap out of this and…

"I have to say, this is one of the strangest incidents I have ever had the pleasure, or displeasure, of encountering." Tsunade frowned while resting her chin on her laced fingers, looking at the distressed cat-girl lost in her thoughts. "To hear our world is but a story in another… And somehow, opening it transported you here, which is unnerving. If it was the book's printing, we could be dealing with en masse transport of people from your world, yet only you have been found. So it is safe to assume your copy of the book was special."

Snapping out of her thoughts, she winced. Was there something special about her book? That was why she was here in a world full of ninjas.

"I don't know." Blake shook her head, her head and ears curled, and her eyes lost their luster. "I have been following the series for some time now, so why would the next copy do that?"

"There is no way to know without finding the book itself. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything with you when we found you lying on our path. So it's difficult to determine the root cause outside a space-time anomaly. I will further scope the area to see if I can find anything, but I can't say any progress will be made with certainty. If it didn't come over with you, the odds are it was a one-way ticket.." Kakashi kept a level gaze with Blake, being brutally honest with her, believing she needed to hear the truth.

As Blake's ears further curled and her head hung down, her head snapped up as a voice loudly stepped up for her, filled with hope and optimism. "Well, I ain't gonna give up! There's gotta be some way back, ya hear!" Naruto proclaimed, gazing over at a stumped Blake before shooting a confident grin. "If there was a book about us that brought us here, why couldn't there be a book about her world that could do the same?"

Everyone's heads turned toward him; Naruto scowled at the incredulous looks he was receiving. "What? It makes sense! Don't look at me like that!"

"For once, I agree with you." Sakura smiled, shaking her head. "It might be a long shot, but you could be onto something. We shouldn't leave any stone unturned searching for a way back home for Blake here… Leave it to you to think of something like that, though."

"So I assume you'll be looking into this avenue, Naruto?" Tsunade smirked, causing Naruto's eyes to bulge. "Then I'll leave you to it. Get to reading."

"Wait, wait, wait…"

Blake blinked several times, glancing at the blonde enigma that was the main character of the story of this world. He was just like she read. Filled with boundless optimism despite the strangest situation…

She smiled as he attempted to find a way out of going through thousands of books to find a story about her world.

Perhaps this would be a great way to learn about one of her favorite characters… And brush up on her ninja skills, too!
