Note: For the Full First Chapter, Follow on Ao3. This will eventually be a Naruto/Neo story.
Everything was cold… Felt like she was in the snow. Wait, she was in the snow! Where was she?
Woman. Wake up.
Her eyes snapped open. She was indeed in a massive snowfield as the snow fell around her. Luckily, it had only begun to fall, so she wasn't coated in it. But that wasn't what worried her. It was what she heard in her head. It was the demon's voice! It was speaking to her freely? This was new! And worrying!
Get your head out of your ass. We have something to take care of. I took care of the danger we were in. He came after the boy when the fool tried to separate me and me into the boy and himself. So, a change plan had to occur.
Kushina's eyes sharpened. Adjusting her grasp, smiling at the sleeping form of her son before worry consumed her as the cold weather was not suitable for him, she clutched her chest to check for her wound. The wound that the Nine-Tails had punctured through her chest had been healed… Not to mention, she no longer felt the strain she had when he had been pulled out of her.
Had he…
I did what was necessary. The boy is special, woman. When the other half of myself was sealed within him, it awoke his resurrected powers.
What does that mean, fuzzball? Kushina furrowed her brow and bit her lip, standing up, preparing to search for shelter for Naruto. Of course, Naruto was special! He was her son! That was obvious, but for the demon inside her to say that…
Look upon his right hand… The mark of my father is upon him. The mark of the Sage of Six Paths has been blessed on him. He is the Sun.
Kushina stopped in her tracks. She was well aware of the legends of the Sage. It was documented throughout their history that the Uzumaki were descendants of the Sage. So for the fox to say something like this…
Gently lifting her son's right hand and opening his palm, her eyes glistened. The fox was indeed telling the truth. A mark was left on his palm. A peculiar circle that had not been there before. But was it the mark of the Sage…
You may not believe me, but the man is my father… I may not like you… Or humanity… But I love him and respect his ideas. If he has chosen your whelp, I will respect his choice. So let's move. Something happened I fear with all space-time techniques, seals, and my power… The three of us may have transcended time and space and ended up in a new dimension.
"What?!"
"Dattabane! What are these creatures?!" Kushina cursed, spitting in the frigid temperatures, wrapping Naruto tightly to her chest in her green apron as the black and white saber-tooth cat slowly faded to smoke before her eyes.
More of a demon than I… Made of pure negative energy.
"Lovely information! Thanks!" Kushina roared, rolling her eyes, breathing heavily, scanning the snowfields desperately. Then, with a frown, her face scrunched. "Negative energy… You can sense negative energy?! And you are letting me go through this blindly?!"
I despise you woman… But alas, the child's life is at stake… North. Look up. It should be visible soon.
"What does that mean?!" Kushina hissed, rage building within. The fox had the ability to help seek their salvation this entire time and had been withholding it because of his beef with her.
Following his instructions, she orientated to the north, which thankfully, the compass she had worked in in this new dimension. And, like the fox said, the poor visibility was improving as she made the trek ahead.
But she almost stumbled at what she saw before her.
It was a city… But unlike any she had seen before. The city with the massive wall on the ground was something she had seen time and time again back home… But the one floating in the sky was a sight she had never thought she would have seen in a thousand lifetimes.
Even after slaying several of those strange black and white creatures, it hadn't dawned on her until now…
She was in a different dimension, and there might not be a way home.
"Please don't hurt me…"
"I'm not going to hurt you… I'm going to destroy you. Abusing and using a child for your own gain? Trash like you is to be disposed of."
"You can't do this…"
"You can burn too, lawman. You are trash as well. You had the power to do something about this but did nothing. But don't worry about her. She's my daughter now, and there isn't a damn thing anyone can do about it, ya hear?"
There was so much to be done! So much to explore! It was his first time here!
A twelve-year-old fox Faunus with a long, bushy tail and sharp, sun-kissed blonde locks shuffled through unpacking the last items for his room. His family had just finished moving to Vale, his mom had bought this apartment, and they had recently moved from Atlas.
Finishing up with the last of his set, satisfied with how his room looked, he glanced outside and noticed the amber sky. It was that late! His stomach immediately rumbled, and he grimaced. Ruffling the white sleeves of his tailcoat over his orange shirt, he reached into his pouch connected to his baggy blue pants and pulled out a frog wallet. Squinting at the cards within, he nodded and put it back in. "Got enough Lien… Mom is still probably busy… Should see if Cinder wants to go."
Walking out into the hallway, he took a few steps across and grinned. He already could hear she was making herself at home. Chuckling, he racked the door with his knuckles as he knocked. "Yo, sis! Want to get dinner? Mom isn't back yet, and we probably gotta fend for ourselves."
"Wait! Don't open the door!" He could hear his adopted sister scrambling inside her room. A moment later, the door snapped open, and he stared into vivid amber eyes as she was heavily panting, gently adjusting the strap of her dress.
With his tail flicking behind him and his brow raised, Naruto's lips pursed curiously at his slightly older sister. "What were you doing in there?"
"Moving my stuff, idiot! Get your head out of the gutter!" Cinder snapped in annoyance, rolling her eyes at Naruto's overactive imagination, and pushed him across the hallway.
"It's not my fault! You looked like you were doing it again!" Naruto flushed, only to feel his face suddenly heat further as his sister's hand pressed against his face. "Wait, wait, wait! That didn't come out right!"
"And how would you know that!" Cinder fumed, eyes burning with justified fury. "Talk, or I'm gonna burn those whiskers off!"
And I'm not going to regenerate them either, brat. She's earned this one.
'You're no help, Kurama!' Naruto roared at the fox within as Cinder threatened his very existence.
There was only one out, and, well… With his hands making the seal behind his back.
"You brat! Get back here!" Cinder roared, sprinting down the hallway and into the living room and kitchen combo, flinging a log behind her as it seared to ashes. Scanning the room, her gaze became fixated on the open front door, and she caught the outline of Naruto scurrying out.
His life depended on his ability to outrun his sister today!
It took so long to escape Cinder… It was already night, and he was still hungry!
Well, don't bring up walking in on your sister, idiot!
"I didn't mean to! I have mom's bad habit of saying the first thing on my mind!" Naruto blanched and grimaced, trying to get the image out of his head while gagging. "I'm barely hungry now…"
Yet you are surrounded by dozens of food carts. Popcorn. Cakes, burgers, milkshakes. Cookies that size of that girl! …Hm? I think she's your age? Wonder if she has a condition or something.
"Maybe? But, let's give her space." Naruto nodded, observing as the short brown-haired girl bounded to the milkshake stand. "She does have the right idea, though… It has been a hot day and a lot of work… Milkshake sounds really good… Hm?"
Noticing three other girls dressed in punk attire descending upon the petite girl, he scrunched his face. Something felt off about the situation, and he was quickly proven correct.
"Eh, what's wrong with your eye, freak?"
"And what are you wearing, weirdo?"
As the girl squinted and glared at the three, her heterochromatic eyes shimmered as Naruto stepped between her and the three of them. "Ah, sorry I'm late! How are you doing? Ah, right, the shakes? Chocolate and vanilla, right?"
Tilting back in surprise for a moment, almost surprised at how he knew what she was ordering, the petite girl nodded. Pursing her lips as she watched him pay for the shakes, she frowned. Why did he step in for her? Was he being nice? Or was he…
"Hey, kid?" The lead punk of the three glared at Naruto, hand on her hips. "What about us? If you're gonna pay for her and she doesn't need it, can't you afford it for us? We can make it worth your while, if you know what I mean?"
Scrunching his brow, Naruto rolled his eyes. "Like I would take an offer like that from someone like you… Picking on someone because they're different. You are no better than those who discriminate against my people."
Amidst the gale, Naruto held the petite girl's hand to keep her from being blown away. The three bullies shrieked as his tailcoat whipped behind him. Naruto calmly stared them down. Imparting a portion of intent upon them, he snarled at them and watched them stumble. He then huffed and turned away. "Not worth my time."
The three trembled and slowly backed away before the leader tripped and let a warm hand slither around her throat and tightly grasp it. "And if you ever proposition my brother again… It will be your last moment on Remnant."
"Ah!" All three tripped as they ran away screaming, amber eyes glinting in amusement before it shot toward Naruto.
He grimaced at the piercing gaze before she scoffed and approached them. "Better get me one too, brat. You dragged me out here. Make it something with spice."
"Can do!" Naruto pulled out another Lien card with a grin, holding it out to the vendor, who was still processing what he had seen, absently taking it. "Just as we're on good terms again…"
"Wouldn't say that," Cinder smirked, causing Naruto to shrink as she crossed her arms. Noticing the petite girl's peculiar stare, she scoffed. "So, I saw what happened and how my brother stepped in. You might have been in trouble if he didn't, so you better be thankful. Might want to tell us your name, short stuff?"
Frowning at the comment, insulted for a moment, she reached into her pants pocket before pulling out a small device. Cinder's eyes narrowed, and she immediately recognized it as a communication device as she typed on it. It spoke in a robotic voice.
"Trivia Vanille."
