Chapter 65: Side By Side

Yugao led the way through the crowded streets of Konoha, her sharp eyes scanning the bustling marketplace as she moved with purpose. Behind her, Haku, Hinata, Tenten, Ino, and Sakura followed in a loose formation, each of them caught in their own thoughts as they prepared for their respective upcoming weddings.

"Okay, ladies," the oldest woman said, her voice firm as she stopped in front of a high-end boutique. "We've got a mission today. Let's get in, get what we need, and get out. We don't have all day, and I'm not about to let this turn into a free-for-all."

Haku stepped up beside her, a small smile on her lips. "You make it sound like we're about to storm a fortress."

"Isn't that what we're doing?" Tenten quipped, crossing her arms. "We're dealing with wedding dresses, bridesmaid gowns, and all the drama that comes with it. This is no different from a battlefield."

Ino rolled her eyes. "Yeah, except this battlefield is covered in lace and silk."

Sakura glanced at Ino, her expression neutral but her eyes sharp. "Some of us actually care about this kind of thing, Ino. Not everything has to be a competition."

Ino smirked. "Oh, please. Like you're not going to try to one-up me with whatever you pick out. We all know you've got a lot to prove, especially since—"

"Enough," Yugao cut in, her tone brokering no argument. "We're here for Haku and Hinata's weddings, not to rehash grudges. Lock in."

Hinata, who had been quiet up until now, offered a small nod. "I appreciate everyone being here. It means a lot to me… and to Goku."

Haku nodded in agreement. "Same here. This is a big deal for Sasuke-kun and me, and I'm glad you're all a part of it."

The group fell into a momentary silence as they entered the boutique. The shopkeeper, a well-dressed woman with a sharp eye for detail, greeted them with a polite smile. "Welcome, ladies. How can I assist you today?"

Yugao spoke up. "We're looking for dresses. Two weddings, one of which is a public event. We need something that makes a statement."

The shopkeeper nodded, immediately understanding the gravity of the request. "Of course. Please, follow me to our private selection. I'm sure we'll find something perfect for each of you."

As they followed the shopkeeper to a more secluded area of the boutique, the tension between Ino and Sakura simmered beneath the surface. It didn't help that Naruto was a common thread between them, complicating the already strained relationship.

"So, Ino-pig," Sakura began as they perused the selection, "what's your plan for the wedding? Are you going with something flashy, or are you actually going to tone it down for once?"

Ino narrowed her eyes, not missing the jab. "Oh, I'll tone it down, forehead. Just enough to make sure you're not overshadowed by someone with actual taste."

Tenten chuckled, shaking her head. "And here I thought this was gonna be a relaxing day. You two just can't help yourselves, can you?"

"Maybe we should turn this into a contest," Haku suggested with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Best dress wins… something. I'm not sure what yet, but it could be fun."

Yugao sighed, but there was a hint of amusement in her eyes. "You're all impossible. But if it keeps things moving, then fine. Just remember, this is about Haku and Hinata, not about outshining each other."

As they began trying on dresses, the banter continued, each woman finding her own way to express her personality through the fabric and style she chose.

Tenten opted for something sleek and practical, a gown that wouldn't hinder her movements but still held an air of elegance. "Neji-kun's not the type to care much about fashion, but I want to make sure he's got something to look forward to," she said with a grin.

Hinata chose a dress that was simple yet stunning, the fabric flowing like water as she moved. "Goku likes things straightforward," she said softly. "No frills, just something that shows who I am."

Ino, true to form, picked out a dress that was bold and eye-catching, the color a vibrant contrast to her blonde hair. "Goldie's gonna lose his mind when he sees this," she mused to herself.

Sakura, for her part, chose something classic, the design understated but undeniably beautiful. "It's about balance," she murmured. "I want to look good, but I'm not going to be the center of attention. Not on those days anyway."

As they each finalized their choices, Yugao turned to Haku. "So, Haku… I've got to ask. What made you choose me as your maid of honor? You've got a lot of people who are close to you."

Haku smiled, a genuine warmth in her expression. "You were there for me when I joined the Anbu. You showed me the ropes... and you're just that girl honestly. You're basically the older sister I never had, Yugao. There's no one else I'd rather have by my side."

Yugao nodded, her usually stoic demeanor softening just a bit. "I'm honored, Haku. I'll make sure everything goes off without a hitch."

Ino, who had been listening in, couldn't resist a comment. "Y'know, Yugao, you're going to have to lighten up a bit if you're going to be in charge of the fun. Just saying."

Yugao raised an eyebrow. "I can handle fun. I just don't see the point in wasting time with nonsense."

Sakura allowed herself a smirk. "I think Ino's just trying to get you to relax. You know, before the big day. Maybe she's got a point."

Yugao considered this, then shrugged. "I'll think about it. But right now, let's focus on getting everything ready. These weddings aren't going to plan themselves."

The midday sun hung high over Konoha, casting long shadows as Goku, Naruto, Sasuke, Neji, Lee, and Shikamaru strolled through the bustling market district. This wasn't just any day—it was a day of preparation, a necessary pit stop before the next series of battles.

But instead of swords and training gear, they were hunting for something more formal: wedding suits.

"Well, look at us," Naruto said, hands behind his head, a grin plastered on his face. "Who would've thought we'd be out shopping for suits instead of training or saving the world? Feels kinda weird, don't it?"

Goku, walking alongside him, laughed. "Never thought I'd see the day! But it's not like we're gonna stop training just because we have to look nice. Besides, who doesn't like a change of pace?"

"Typical Goku," Neji smirked, arms crossed over his chest. "Always seeing the bright side of things. But this isn't just about looking nice. This is about setting a standard. We're representing ourselves and our future wives. We can't just half-ass it."

Sasuke, who was slightly ahead of the group, glanced back. "It's not just about setting a standard, Neji. It's about control. In the field, we're in charge. Out here, it's all about appearance. And like it or not, appearance can win battles before they even begin."

"As astute as usual, Sasuke," Lee chimed in, a calm expression on his face. "But he's right. This is just another kind of mission. One that requires us to show our strength differently. We owe it to our future brides to be at our best, if there even is one for me."

Shikamaru sighed, hands in his pockets. "You guys are overthinking it. We're picking out suits, not planning an ambush. We're gonna end up looking the same anyway, so what's the point of stressing out?"

"Spoken like someone who doesn't care how they look," Naruto shot back with a chuckle. "But then again, you don't have to worry about impressing anyone. Temari's already got you wrapped around her finger."

Shikamaru shrugged, unfazed. "Yeah, yeah. But at least I'm not the one sweating over it. This whole thing is just a drag, but I suppose it's part of the deal."

Goku's eyes twinkled with mischief. "Come on, Shikamaru, lighten up! We're here to have fun too. After all, this might be the last time we get to hang out before everyone starts tying the knot."

Sasuke's lips twitched, almost forming a smile. "Speaking of which, dobe…"

Naruto's head snapped up. "Yeah?"

"I want you to be my best man."

The blonde blinked, stunned for a moment before breaking into a wide grin. "You serious, Sasuke? You're not messing with me, right?"

Sasuke's expression remained stoic, but there was a glint in his eyes. "You're the only one I trust with that responsibility."

"Damn right!" he pumped his fist in the air. "Best man for the best wedding! I'll make sure everything's perfect, believe it!"

Neji raised an eyebrow. "I didn't know if perfection was in Naruto's vocabulary."

"Hey!" Naruto shot back, though his grin never wavered. "Just watch, Neji. I'm gonna make this the best wedding ever."

Lee chimed in, "Naruto, Sasuke is entrusting you with something important. Don't let your enthusiasm lead to mistakes."

Naruto's grin faltered slightly, and he nodded. "Yeah, yeah, I got it, Lee. I'll take it seriously, I promise."

"So," Goku cut in again, breaking the silence before it could take root, "let's get moving. I don't know about you guys, but I'm starving. Maybe we can grab some ramen after this?"

Shikamaru rolled his eyes. "Of course you're thinking about food. It's a wonder you fit into anything with how much you eat."

Naruto laughed. "Don't worry, Shikamaru. Goku burns through food faster than we can blink. But I definitely totally agree with him—suits first, ramen second."

As they walked into the first store, the group couldn't help but continue trash talking each other. The atmosphere was light, the banter nonstop, but beneath./'pl it all was a mutual respect that had been forged through countless battles and challenges. They were a team, a brotherhood of sorts, and now they were stepping into a new kind of fight—a fight that required them to be sharp, presentable, and above all, men.

It was time for them all to begin putting away childish things... little by little.

The tailor, a small, nervous man, looked up as they entered, his eyes widening at the sight of the group. "Uh… Can I help you gentlemen?"

Goku grinned. "We're here for some suits. Got a bunch of weddings coming up."

The tailor blinked. "Weddings? All of you?"

Naruto laughed. "Yep! And we need to look our best, so let's get started."

As they began selecting fabrics and styles, the trash talk picked up again. Lee insisted on the most traditional styles, emphasizing the importance of honor, while Sasuke opted for something sleek and modern, hinting at his new status as the head of the Uchiha clan. Shikamaru tried to pick the simplest suit possible, only to be overridden by Neji, who refused to let him "take the lazy route" on something so important.

"You're going to stand out, Shikamaru, whether you like it or not," Neji said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

"Yeah, yeah," Shikamaru sighed. "But if this thing gets in the way of me moving, you're the one who's gonna hear about it."

Naruto, laughing, turned to Goku. "What about you, Goku? You're usually in those orange gi. Think you can handle something fancy?"

Goku shrugged, smiling. "As long as I can move in it, I'm good. But when it's Hinata's day, I definitely want to look good for her."

"Look at you," Sasuke remarked. "Who would've thought you'd be the one saying that?"

The Saiyan rubbed the back of his head, grinning sheepishly. "Hey, even I know when to step up."

The tailor, now accustomed to their dynamic, moved quickly, taking measurements and adjusting his designs as the group continued to banter. By the time they left, each one of them had a suit tailored to perfection, a new kind of armor for the "battles" ahead.

Because women and weddings were definitely battles indeed.

As they walked back through the village, the sun beginning to set, Goku glanced at the others, his eyes filled with a rare moment of seriousness. "We're all going through a lot of changes. But no matter what happens, we've got each other's backs, right?"

The group nodded, their usual bravado momentarily softened by the weight of Goku's words.

"Right," Naruto said, his voice carrying a determination that matched Goku's. "We're in this together. Weddings, battles, the whole nine."

Sasuke, ever the stoic, added, "Just don't get soft. We've got a lot more to face when the peace runs out."

Lee nodded. "And we'll face it as we always have—head on."

Neji, his voice filled with conviction, added, "Together, we are unstoppable."

Shikamaru, hands in his pockets, sighed. "Right, right. Just make sure we don't overdo it. Weddings are one thing, but I'm not looking to end up in a hospital because of some over-the-top ceremony."

Goku laughed. "Don't worry, Shikamaru. We'll keep the chaos to a minimum. But let's enjoy this time while we can. Things are only gonna get crazier from here. The weddings might not go uninterrupted."

After the dresses were chosen, the group moved on to the next phase of their day: a full-on spa treatment.

It was the kind of luxury that they didn't usually indulge in, but with weddings on the horizon and the stress of their daily lives, they all agreed it was a much-needed break. As they entered the spa, the atmosphere shifted from the bustling energy of the marketplace to a more serene, tranquil environment.

Yugao led the way, as she typically does, but this time with a slight smirk. "Alright, ladies. Time to pamper ourselves. We've earned it."

Haku chuckled, her demeanor more relaxed. "I've never done anything like this. It'll be interesting to see how we all look after."

"Don't worry, Haku," Ino said with a mischievous grin. "We'll have you looking like a queen by the time we're done. Not that you need much help with that, of course."

Sakura shot Ino a sideways glance, her instincts tingling. There was something off about Ino's tone, something that suggested more than just friendly banter. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but the feeling gnawed at her.

The group was soon seated in plush chairs, each of them attended by a different specialist. The pampering began with pedicures—each woman choosing a color that reflected her personality. Tenten went for a deep red, something bold and strong. Hinata opted for a soft lavender, delicate yet unmistakably her. Haku chose an icy blue, reminiscent of the techniques she wielded so effortlessly. Yugao, ever the minimalist, went with a clear coat that added a subtle sheen. Ino, never one to shy away from attention, selected a vibrant pink, while Sakura picked a classic nude, understated but elegant.

"So," Tenten began, glancing over at Ino. "Any reason you picked pink, Ino? Seems a bit… loud."

Ino shrugged, leaning back in her chair. "I like standing out. Plus, Goldie's always had a thing for this color."

Sakura's grip on the armrest tightened imperceptibly. There it was again—Goldie, her supposed pet name for Naruto. Why did Ino keep bringing him up? It was casual enough on the surface, but something about it felt off.

She decided to probe, her voice deceptively light. "Naruto-kun likes pink? That's news to me."

Ino didn't miss a beat. "Oh, he's mentioned it a few times. You know how he is—full of surprises."

Sakura forced a smile, but inside, her mind was racing. Naruto wasn't the type to talk about things like that… at least, not with her. "Yeah, he does have his moments."

Haku, sensing the shift in the atmosphere, decided to steer the conversation. "Sakura, you and Naruto have been through a lot together. It must be exciting to see how far you've both come."

Sakura nodded, though her thoughts were still elsewhere. "Yeah, it is. We've both grown a lot. But it's not just about us anymore. We're part of something bigger now."

"Including Naruto's escapades with half the village, right?" Tenten teased, trying to lighten the mood.

Hinata, who had been quiet, offered a gentle smile. "Naruto has a good heart. Sometimes he's a bit… impulsive, but he means well."

Ino snickered. "Impulsive is putting it lightly. But that's part of his charm, isn't it? Never know what you're gonna get dealing with him."

Sakura's smile tightened, her unease growing. There was something in Ino's voice, something she couldn't ignore. She decided to confront it head-on, her tone casual but her eyes sharp. "Ino, you seem to know a lot about Naruto these days. Anything you want to share with the class?"

Ino met Sakura's gaze, her own expression unreadable. "We've just been… spending some time together, that's all. Nothing you need to worry about, Sakura-chan."

Sakura didn't miss the subtle emphasis on the honorific. "Really? Because it sounds like there's more to it than that."

Ino leaned forward slightly, her voice dropping to a more serious tone. "Look, Sakura. Naruto and I… we've got a bit of history. But that's all it is—history. Don't read into it too much."

Haku, trying to ease the tension, said, "We're all friends here, right? Let's not let anything get in the way of that."

"Exactly," Hinata added softly. "We've been through so much together. We shouldn't let anything divide us, not right now."

Yugao, who had been listening quietly, finally spoke up. "Everyone's got their own relationships, their own histories. But we're here today for something positive. Let's not ruin it with unnecessary drama."

Ino sighed, leaning back again. "Fine. No drama. We're here to relax, right?"

Sakura didn't respond immediately, but she eventually nodded. "Right. No drama."

As the conversation shifted back to lighter topics, the tension between Ino and Sakura lingered just beneath the surface, a silent undercurrent that everyone could feel. The rest of the pampering session continued, with the group moving on to manicures and then a deep facial cleansing.

But the earlier exchange left a mark, one that wouldn't be easily erased.

Sakura's mind kept drifting back to Naruto, to the little hints and clues she had been picking up. There was something she was missing, something just out of reach. And it was driving her crazy.

Ino, on the other hand, felt the weight of her own guilt pressing down on her. She knew she wasn't being fair to Sakura, but she couldn't stop herself. The thrill of her time with Naruto, the way he made her feel, was intoxicating.

But at what cost?

The sun had dipped below the horizon, casting the village in a warm, orange glow. After a long day of wedding shopping and preparations, the guys decided to end their day at their favorite spot: Ichiraku Ramen. It was a place of comfort, familiarity, and, more often than not, candid conversations. They gathered around the counter, the scent of miso broth and grilled pork filling the air.

As bowls of steaming ramen were set in front of them, Naruto, Goku, Sasuke, Neji, Lee, and Shikamaru dug in with the kind of enthusiasm that only shinobi who've spent the day shopping for wedding attire could muster.

"Man, nothing beats Ichiraku after a long day," Naruto said between mouthfuls, slurping his noodles with gusto.

"Yeah, you're right, Naruto," Goku agreed, a small smile on his face as he enjoyed his ramen. "This is just what we needed."

"Maybe for you guys," Sasuke said, though there was a hint of amusement in his usually stoic tone. "I still have to figure out how to survive a wedding without setting something on fire."

Shikamaru shrugged. "It's not like you'll be the first one to screw up a wedding. Just don't blow anything up and you should be fine."

Naruto chuckled, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. "Speaking of screwing up… I guess now's a good time to come clean."

The others looked at him, curiosity piqued. Naruto wasn't usually one to bring up heavy topics during ramen time, but something in his tone suggested this wasn't just casual talk.

"What's on your mind, Naruto?" Neji asked, his gaze sharp as ever.

Naruto hesitated for a moment, then sighed. "So… you guys know Sakura and I have been… well, kind of a thing for a while now."

"Kind of?" Shikamaru raised an eyebrow. "You mean you're not sure?"

Naruto scratched the back of his head, looking sheepish. "It's complicated. We've been together for years, but lately… I don't know, it's like we're not on the same page. And, uh… I've kind of been… spending time with Ino."

There was a beat of silence as the words sank in. Sasuke's chopsticks paused mid-air, Neji's eyes narrowed slightly, and Lee's expression tightened, but he remained silent.

"Spending time?" Goku asked, though his tone suggested he already knew what Naruto meant. "Like, training? Or…?"

Naruto shook his head. "Not just training. We've… crossed some lines. You know what I mean."

Lee's fists clenched under the table, but he kept his voice steady. "You mean you've been having sex with her."

The blonde nodded, guilt evident on his face. "Yeah. I didn't plan it, but… it just happened. And now… I'm stuck. I still care about Sakura, but Ino's… well, she's Ino damnit."

Shikamaru let out a low whistle. "Troublesome. You really managed to get yourself into a mess this time, Naruto."

Neji's voice was calm, but there was an edge to it. "Sakura doesn't know, does she?"

Naruto shook his head again. "No. She has no idea. And I'm not sure if I should tell her or just… end all contact with Ino and just pretend nothing happened."

Lee finally spoke up, his voice carrying a weight that wasn't usually there. "As you know clearly, Naruto… I wanted Ino too, badly at that. But I knew I didn't stand a chance against you when it came to her desires. So I backed off. But hearing this… it's hard not to feel like I made the right choice."

Naruto looked down at his ramen, guilt gnawing at him. "Lee, I… I'm sorry. I didn't mean to—"

"It's not about you meaning to do anything," Lee interrupted, his tone still calm but laced with a bitterness that surprised even him. "It's about how you do things without thinking about the consequences. For people like me, we don't get those chances often. And when they're taken away… it hurts, even when we try to push past it with the flames of youth as I'd typically say. Try as I might, there's just certain outcomes I cannot influence, and Ino's heart is one of them. It's like trying to catch the wind or grasp oil with your bare hands."

Shikamaru nodded slowly. "Lee's got a point. You're playing with fire, Naruto. And it's not just you who's gonna get burned."

Goku, who had been silent, finally spoke up. "Y'know, Naruto… I've been where you are. With Ino, I mean."

Naruto blinked, surprised. "You have?"

Goku nodded. "Yeah. Back when I didn't know much about feelings and stuff. We had gotten close, and there were a few times I almost… well, I almost let things go further than they should've. But I stopped because I knew my heart wasn't really in it. Not with her. It was with Hinata."

Sasuke glanced at Goku. "So you're saying Naruto should just… what, break it off with both of them?"

Goku shook his head. "I'm saying Naruto needs to figure out where his heart really is. Because if he keeps going like this, he's just going to hurt everyone involved. Including himself."

Lee sighed, his bitterness still present but mixed with a sense of resignation. "And here I was, thinking maybe I had a chance with Ino. But I guess I was just the nice guy. The strong, husband-like, heroic nice guy. The fall back, the backup, the last resort. Plan F. Orbiter."

Naruto winced. "Lee… you're more than that. But Ino… she just… I don't know, man. It's not about you."

Shikamaru snorted. "It's always about Naruto, isn't it? He's got the looks, the charm… no wonder Ino pivoted. She's always been into the flashy types, the guys who she thinks are the best in the game. Goku and Sasuke are out, so who else but him is at that level?"

Neji, who had been watching Lee closely, finally spoke. "It's not even truly about who's flashier or stronger. It's about who can make her feel the way she wants to feel. And right now, that's Naruto. But that doesn't mean it'll last, it's very likely a temporary thing."

Sasuke finally interjected. "You guys are all missing the ultimate point. The dobe's in deep, and he needs to figure out just what the hell he wants. And even more more importantly, he needs to be honest with himself and with them and fast. Before this gets any worse."

Goku nodded in agreement. "Sasuke's right. You've gotta decide, Naruto. You can't keep stringing them along."

Naruto sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah… I know. But it's not easy. I care about them both, in different ways."

Lee's voice was soft, but it carried the weight of his own experience. "Caring isn't enough, Naruto. You've got to make a choice. And you've got to be willing to face the consequences, no matter what. I chose to love Ino, and I was killed for making that choice. So be it."

Shikamaru leaned back in his chair, looking at Naruto with a mix of pity and exasperation. "Look, Ino's my teammate. My sister in all but blood. And I can tell you right now, she's not gonna wait around forever. If you're not serious about being with her one-thousand percent, then you need to let her go, for both of our sanities. As you know she's sharper than a kunai, so eventually she'll adapt to the game and not be so vicarious with her heart and wellbeing. It's only a matter of when she gets tired of it, which I suspect will be soon."

Neji nodded in agreement. "And if you are serious, you need to be prepared for what that means. Because Sakura won't take it lightly. In a perfect world you'd have them both, but we all know our world is far from it. It's time to be a man."

Naruto looked around at his friends, the weight of their words sinking in. He knew they were right. He couldn't keep this up.

He had to make a decision, and he had to make it soon.

He had to be a fucking man.

"I guess… I guess I've got some thinking to do," the blonde said quietly.

Goku clapped him on the back, a rare moment of seriousness in his usually carefree demeanor. "You'll figure it out, Naruto. Just make sure whatever you do, you try to do it for the right reasons."

After the spa treatments, the group moved on to the final stop of their day—getting their hair done. The salon was one of Konoha's finest, a place where even the most battle-hardened kunoichi could feel pampered. They settled into their chairs, the stylists moving around them with precision and care.

The stylists got to work, each woman receiving a treatment tailored to her hair type and style. Hinata opted for something simple and elegant, a style that would complement her soft features and delicate presence. Haku chose a look that was both sophisticated and regal, befitting her new role as an Uchiha matriarch. Tenten, ever the practical one, asked for a sleek style that wouldn't get in her way. Yugao, not one for fuss, went with something understated, while Ino and Sakura both decided on more elaborate updos.

As the day progressed, the tension that had been simmering between Ino and Sakura reached a boiling point. It was inevitable, really. There had been too many hints, too many moments where the truth almost slipped out.

"So, Ino," Sakura began as a stylist gently brushed through her hair. "You've been spending a lot of time with Naruto lately. How was that training trip with Naruto? Must've been quite the experience."

Ino, who was seated a couple of chairs away, met Sakura's gaze in the mirror. She didn't miss the pointed tone in Sakura's voice, but shrugged, trying to keep her response nonchalant. "It was intense. A lot of hard work, but we got stronger. It's what we do, right? And yeah, I told you we've been training together. What's your point?"

Sakura's eyes narrowed as her grip tightened on the armrests. "Training together. Right. That's all it is? I'm sure you two got real close, being away for so long."

Haku and Tenten exchanged glances, sensing the shift in the atmosphere. The latter, always perceptive, knew where this was heading and decided to keep a close eye on the situation. Hinata, ever the peacemaker, subtly signaled to Yugao, who nodded in understanding.

Ino rolled her eyes, her patience wearing thin. "What exactly are you trying to say?"

"I'm just trying to figure out why you keep bringing him up," Sakura shot back. "I mean, you were never that close before. So what changed?"

Ino's jaw tightened, her frustration evident. "Maybe we got to know each other better during the training trip. You weren't there, Sakura, so don't pretend like you know what went on."

Sakura's eyes narrowed. "I may not have been there, but I'm not stupid. You've been acting different ever since you got back. And so has Naruto. What exactly happened between you two?"

The room fell silent, the other women holding their breath as the tension thickened. Tenten, unable to stay quiet any longer, chimed in. "Wait, wait. What are you saying, Sakura? That Ino and Naruto—"

Sakura cut her off, her voice sharp. "I'm saying something doesn't add up. We were together for years, but now it's like… like I'm the last person on his mind. And you, Ino, you're acting like you've got something over me."

Ino's expression hardened, and for a moment, it seemed like the two might actually come to blows. But before things could escalate, Yugao stepped in, her voice firm. "Enough. This isn't the place for this."

Hinata nodded in agreement. "We're here to support each other. Let's not make this day any harder than it needs to be."

But Sakura wasn't done. Her voice lowered, dripping with a mix of hurt and suspicion. "You're hiding something, Ino. I can feel it. And if it involves Naruto—"

Ino finally snapped. "Fine, you want the truth? Yes, Sakura, Naruto and I… we've been close. Closer than you'd like, I'm sure. But maybe you should take time to ask yourself why that is. Maybe if you weren't so obsessed with doing things 'by the book,' he wouldn't have looked elsewhere."

The words hung in the air, each one a dagger to Sakura's heart. The truth she'd been avoiding, the fear she hadn't wanted to face—it was all laid bare in that moment.

"You… you're saying that you—" Sakura's voice faltered, the reality of it crashing down on her.

Ino didn't flinch. "We've done things, Sakura. Things you weren't willing to do. And yeah, it felt really really good. But don't act like I'm the only one to blame here. Goldie made his choices too."

The salon was deathly quiet, everyone's eyes on the two women. Sakura's fists clenched, her knuckles white as she fought to keep her emotions in check. But it was clear that she was on the verge of breaking.

Tenten, ever the pragmatist, spoke up, trying to defuse the situation. "Look, this isn't helping anyone. We all have our issues, but airing them out like this isn't going to solve anything."

Hinata, her voice calm but resolute, added, "Sakura, Ino… this isn't worth destroying your friendship over. We've all made mistakes, but we can't let them tear us apart."

Sakura took a deep breath, her anger slowly giving way to a deep, aching sadness. "Maybe you're right. But it still hurts. To know that the person I trusted… that he—" She couldn't finish the sentence, the pain too raw.

Ino, despite her bravado, felt a pang of guilt. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to happen. But it did, and now we have to deal with it."

Yugao, ever the voice of reason, nodded. "And deal with it you will. But not here, not now. We have weddings to prepare for. Let's not bring everyone else down with our personal issues."

Tenten, her mind racing, couldn't help but think of Lee. She had always suspected that there was more to his bitterness, his seriousness in recent times. Now, it made sense. Ino had rejected him, and he had buried his heartbreak deep inside. And now, to hear that she had been involved with Naruto, who was supposed to be with Sakura… it was all too much.

"Ino," Tenten said quietly, "you hurt Lee too, didn't you? Didn't he, I dunno, save your life once or twice? How does he fit into all this?"

Ino looked away, guilt flashing on her face. "Lee's… a great guy. But he's not what I'm looking for. I didn't mean to hurt him, but I did. He's a real hero. But, like I've said before, he's just not my type. That's not a crime, is it?"

Tenten raised an eyebrow. "So, you pushed him aside, broke his heart, and then went after Naruto? Nice... all because Lee wasn't your type? The guy who'd do anything for you? He's been serious and bitter lately, and now I'm starting to understand why."

Ino looked down at her hands, suddenly finding her freshly painted nails very interesting. "It's not that simple, Tenten. Sometimes… things just don't click. Stop saying I went after Naruto, I didn't 'go after' anyone! Things just… happened. You wouldn't understand."

Sakura, her voice barely above a whisper but cutting through the air like a knife, said, "And yet things clicked with Naruto."

The statement hung in the air, the weight of it pressing down on everyone in the room. The stylists exchanged nervous glances, clearly sensing the rising tension.

Hinata, sensing the tension was reaching a new peak, spoke softly but firmly. "This isn't going to be solved today. We all need to take a step back, breathe, and remember what's important. We're here for each other, right?"

Ino disagreed, her voice defensive. "You're half right, Hinata. Maybe if she wasn't so wrapped up in her own insecurities, we'd be okay."

Tenten crossed her arms, her voice laced with disappointment. "You're playing a dangerous game, Ino. Naruto might be able to handle it, but you should know better."

Ino's frustration boiled over. "I'm not playing any games! I've got feelings, too, you know! Maybe I don't fit into your perfect little boxes, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong for feeling what I feel."

Sakura's voice was deadly quiet, the hurt and betrayal clear. "You were supposed to be my friend, Ino. Not someone who goes behind my back having sex with... with my freshly minted ex-boyfriend. I'm still in complete disbelief."

Ino took a deep breath, her resolve wavering. "I never intended to hurt or spite you, Sakura. But Goldie… he's been there for me, in ways you wouldn't understand."

Before the situation could escalate further, Yugao chimed in, her voice commanding. "Enough. This isn't going to solve anything. Whatever happened, it's in the past. We've got bigger things ahead to worry about, keep your grudge match to yourself."

As they finished up their hair appointments, the group left the salon in a far different mood than they had entered.

The camaraderie that had been so strong was now strained, the cracks in their relationships more visible than ever.

The day had finally arrived, but unlike the grand ceremonies often associated with such unions, this one was shrouded in privacy. It was the way Sasuke wanted it—intimate, without the fanfare, surrounded only by those who mattered most to him.

A gathering of kin, comrades, and those he considered family.

They stood in a secluded grove, far from the bustling heart of Konoha. The trees formed a natural canopy overhead, the leaves rustling softly in the breeze. A few rays of sunlight pierced through, illuminating the scene with a quiet, almost sacred glow.

This was the setting for the wedding of Uchiha Sasuke and Yuki Haku.

Itachi, holding baby Shisui in his arms, watched his brother with an expression that was difficult to read. There was pride, yes, but also a deep emotion. He had seen the worst of what the world had to offer, and now, he was witnessing something pure—a rarity in their lives. Yugao, standing beside him as the maid of honor, exchanged a glance with Itachi, understanding the weight of the moment.

Hinata, cradling two-year-old Sarada, kept her gaze on Haku, who stood in a simple but elegant kimono, her hair adorned with a single white camellia. There was a serenity about her, but also a strength that Hinata admired. They had all been through so much, but today wasn't about battle or strategy; it was about something deeper.

Kakashi stepped forward, dressed in his Hokage attire, though he wore it with an air of authority that made it clear he was more than just a shinobi today. He was the one who would bind these two souls together. His set of Sharingan eyes met Sasuke's for a brief moment before he began.

"Sasuke, Haku," he started, his voice steady, cutting through the tranquil air. "This day isn't just about a promise between two people. It's about the bonds that have been forged in the fires of battle, loss, and hardship. The love you share is a testament to that, and it will guide you through whatever may come."

Sasuke's eyes remained locked on Haku, his usual stoicism softened by the vulnerability of the moment. He didn't need grand gestures or elaborate words; his feelings for her were evident in the way he stood—resolute, firm, yet more than open to this connection.

"Sasuke-kun," she said softly, her voice carrying the same gentle strength that had drawn him to her in the first place. "I've walked through darkness, but with you, I've found a light. Not one that banishes shadows, but one that makes them bearable. I promise to stand by your side, no matter what comes, and to face our challenges together."

Sasuke nodded, his voice low but clear. "Haku, you've shown me that there's more to life than revenge, more to us than our pasts. With you, I can see a future, one where we can build something new. I vow to protect that future with everything that I am."

Naruto, standing beside Sasuke as his best man, felt a lump in his throat. He had seen Sasuke at his worst, and now, he was witnessing his brother take a step toward something better. He wasn't used to this kind of emotion, but he couldn't deny the impact of the moment.

Yugao, feeling a rare vulnerability herself, looked at Haku with a mixture of admiration and affection. The two women had been through quite a bit in the Anbu, and now, seeing Haku find happiness, Yugao couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfillment in her own right.

Hinata, holding Sarada close, felt her heart swell. She knew what this meant to Sasuke, and by extension, to all of them. They had fought, bled, and lost together.

Kakashi continued, his voice taking on a more formal tone. "By the power vested in me as Hokage, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

Sasuke leaned in, his forehead touching Haku's, and for a moment, the world seemed to hold its breath. Then, he kissed her—softly at first, then with a growing intensity that spoke of all the emotions he usually kept buried. Haku responded in kind, her hands coming up to rest on his shoulders, grounding him in the here and now.

The onlookers couldn't help but smile, even the usually stoic Neji and the perpetually troubled Shikamaru. There was something undeniably powerful in this union, a sense that despite everything, love could still prevail.

Itachi, watching his brother with an almost imperceptible smile, tightened his hold on Shisui. He looked at Yugao, who met his gaze with a knowing look. There was a quiet understanding between them, an acknowledgment of their own bond—complex, unspoken, but undeniably strong.

As the ceremony concluded, the group gathered around the newlyweds, offering their congratulations. Goku, ever the carefree spirit, clapped Sasuke on the back, a wide grin on his face. "You did it, Sasuke! You're officially a married man now. How's it feel?"

Sasuke smirked, the corner of his mouth twitching upward. "It feels like the start of something I'm not prepared for, but… it's worth it."

Naruto laughed, shaking his head. "You better be prepared. Marriage is a whole different battlefield, believe me."

Ino, standing in the vicinity, couldn't help but tease Naruto. "Oh, so you're an expert now? You're not even married yet, Goldie."

Naruto shrugged, trying to play it off. "Hey, I know a thing or two about relationships."

Sakura raised an eyebrow from her position, her tone carrying a hint of depth. "Do you now, Naruto-kun?"

The blonde felt the weight of her gaze but tried to focus on the joy of the moment.

This was not the time for that conversation.

Lee, presenting himself as more of the optimist for today, approached Sasuke with a sincere smile. "Sasuke, Haku, you've set the bar high. I'll do my best to follow your example when my time comes."

Neji, standing beside Tenten, offered a smile of his own. "It's good to see you find peace, Sasuke. We've all been through so much… this is a victory for all of us."

Tenten nodded in agreement, her eyes shining with happiness. "It's about time we had something to celebrate. You two deserve this."

As the group continued to share in the joy of the occasion, the weight of the past seemed to lift, if only for a moment. This wasn't just a wedding; it was a testament to their resilience, to the bonds that had kept them going through the darkest of times.

From the formation of their genin teams, to the Land of Waves Mission, to the Chunin Exams, to the Invasion, to the siege on the Red Ribbon Army, to the Kill Orochimaru mission, to the advent of Piccolo Daimao, and most recently the arrival of the Saiyans.

Unfortunately, those were only shadows to the calamities yet to befall.

Itachi, still holding Baby Shisui, watched his brother closely. Sasuke had come a long way, but he knew better than anyone that the path ahead would still be fraught with challenges. But for now, he allowed himself to feel the warmth of hope—a hope that maybe, just maybe, they could all find some semblance of happiness in this world ruled by the wicked.

The private wedding ceremony seamlessly transitioned into an equally private but lively reception. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the clearing where the celebration took place. It was a surreal moment, as if time itself had slowed to allow them to savor the joy... while it lasted.

Sarada, with her bright, curious eyes, had been let loose from Hinata's arms. The little girl dashed across the clearing, her laughter ringing out as she twirled in her small kimono, the fabric fluttering around her like wings. She darted between the guests, her energy infectious, bringing smiles to the faces of those who watched her.

Itachi, who had been holding his son with a gentle but firm grip, passed the child to Kakashi when Yugao extended her hand to him. She gave him a knowing look, as if to say what was properly understood did not need to be explained.

Without a word, he took her hand, allowing her to lead him into a slow dance beneath the afternoon sun. The world around them seemed to fade as they moved in sync, their steps unhurried. As stated prior, there was no need to mince words; the connection they shared was deep, potent, and above all serene. One that was forged by shadows, but purposed and created for the light.

As they danced, the purple haired woman leaned in, puckering her lips and brushing them against Itachi's in a chaste kiss. It was a simple act, but it spoke volumes of the bond they had quietly built—one of mutual respect, understanding, and their shared burdens. The kiss was brief, but the emotions it carried lingered, a silent promise of what could be if they allowed themselves to actually dream.

Meanwhile, Hinata made her way over to Sasuke and Haku, who were the epitome of a newly wedded couple lost in their own world. The Uchiha's usually cold demeanor had completely softened, his eyes reflecting an intense warmth reserved only for his wife. Haku, a woman of vast serenity and beauty, was equally captivated by him.

Hinata approached them with a gentle smile, her congratulations sincere. "Sasuke, Haku… I'm so happy for you both," she said, her voice calm. "May you find peace and happiness in each other."

Sasuke nodded, his hand tightening slightly around Haku's. "Thank you, Hinata. Without you, we almost certainly wouldn't be alive much less be able to have a moment like this."

Hinata gave a small nod in return, and as she turned to leave, her gaze met Goku's across the clearing. He was watching her, his carefree expression softening into something more tender as he approached.

Without a word, he took her hand and led her to the center of the clearing, where they too began to dance.

The music was slow, the kind that made time seem to stretch and blend. Goku, despite his usual carefree nature, held Hinata close with an unusual seriousness. His touch was gentle, his movements deliberate. And man was he a prodigy! Even on the dance floor!

Hinata rested her head on Goku's shoulder, her hand lightly resting on his chest. She could feel the steady beat of his heart, the warmth of his body. She reveled in it, it was everything she ever could want and more.

She smiled with happiness, eliciting three words to describe her emotion. "Goku... I love you."

Goku smiled as well, his voice a low murmur. "I love you too, Hinata. I love you too."

As they swayed to the music, the world around them faded, leaving just the two of them—no missions, no battles, no training, no rivalry, no threats. Just the rhythm of the dance, the warmth of their connection, and the promise of a future together.

Across the clearing, Shikamaru and Temari found themselves drawn into the music as well. The latter's usual sharp wit was softened by the moment, her movements graceful as she followed Shikamaru's lead. He, ever the strategist, allowed himself to enjoy the simplicity of the dance, the closeness of the woman he had come to care for deeply.

"You know," Temari said, her voice laced with sarcasm, "for someone who claims to hate trouble, you sure know how to stir up the pot."

Shikamaru smirked, his eyes half-lidded as he met her gaze. "You're one to talk, Temari. Besides, I think we both know trouble isn't always a necessarily bad thing."

Temari raised an eyebrow but didn't respond, instead resting her head on his shoulder, allowing herself to enjoy the moment.

Neji and Tenten were nearby, moving in perfect sync, their steps practiced and precise. Her eyes shone with happiness, while his usual stoic expression was softened by the affection he held for her. They too didn't need words; their connection was already loud and heard, understood in the way their bodies moved together, even more so in the way they trusted in each other completely.

But while some found peace in the dance, others were lost in a storm of emotions.

Lee stood off to the side, his arms crossed over his chest as he watched the couples around him. His usual optimism was still somewhat shadowed by what was darker, more bitter if you will. He had tried so hard to win Ino's heart, but she had rejected him—left him standing in the shade of someone she deemed more appealing. He wasn't angry, not unjustifiably so, but there was still a sense of profound loss, of something slipping through his fingers that he had thought was within his grasp.

Naruto, too, was caught in the web of his own making. He now stood near the edge of the clearing, his eyes darting between Ino and Sakura. The two women were painfully aware of each other's presence, the beef between them thick enough to cut. Naruto had never been one to shy away from a fight, but this was different. This was a battle of emotions, one he wasn't sure he could win.

Ino's eyes met his, and for a moment, the world around them disappeared. She had made her choices, and so had he, but now they were left with the aftermath. There was no denying the physical connection they had, the passion and pleasure of incredible sex that had drawn them together for a number of trysts over the last several weeks.

But with great sex came great consequences—consequences that were now staring them in the face.

Sakura's gaze was heavy, filled with a mixture of anger, hurt, and something else—something she couldn't quite put into words. Despite having heard directly from the horses mouth of what transpired between Naruto and Ino, the truth of the claims were now laid bare before her, completely and utterly undeniable.

The betrayal stung, cutting deeper than any physical wound ever had in her nearly eighteen years of life.

Naruto, for all his bravado, felt the weight of their gazes. He wasn't sure what to say, how to fix what had been broken.

He had made mistakes—plenty of them—but now he was standing at a crossroads, and he wasn't sure which path to take.

"You look like you're in hell, Naruto," Shikamaru said, his tone dry as he approached. "Maybe you should've thought things through before diving in headfirst for once."

Naruto gritted his teeth. "You think I don't know that? I screwed up damnit. But what do I do now?"

Shikamaru sighed, running a hand through his hair. "That's the million-ryo question, isn't it? You've got two choices—face it head-on, or keep running. But let me tell you, running's not going to get you anywhere."

Ino, feeling the emotion radiating off of her ex-bestie, finally spoke. "Sakura, I—"

"Don't," Sakura interrupted, her voice sharp. "Don't try to explain it. I don't want to hear it. Just… let me figure this out on my own."

Ino bit her lip, unsure of what to say. She too had made her choices, but now she was left with the wreckage of those decisions. She had wanted something—someone—and she had gone after it, but now more than before was she realizing the cost of her purchase.

If smashing Naruto behind Sakura's back was the answer, then what was the question?

Lee, watching the exchange from a distance, felt a pang of sympathy for both women. He had wanted Ino, but he had known he couldn't compete with Naruto. Not only because of his inferior looks, charm, and aesthetic, but also because he spent a year in the realm of the dead. That was an insurmountable gap to close, especially if he wasn't necessarily gaining ground beforehand.

And now, seeing the pain in Sakura's eyes, he was reminded of why he had to step back in the first place. He didn't want to be the cause of someone else's heartbreak.

Goku, ever the observer, caught the vibes from across the clearing. He had history with Ino—a kiss, another kiss, and more kissing which led to a moment of near-intimacy that had almost gone too far.

But he had pulled back, knowing that his heart truly belonged to Hinata. He could understand the pull of temptation, the allure of something forbidden. Ino was like a snare, a trap that happened to have the allure of a sweet, golden apple. In conjunction with her physique, her face, her eyes, the shade of her hair, and her personality as the cherry on top, she was a total package of irresistibility.

However, he himself quickly grew to know the value of loyalty, of staying true to the one who held his heart.

And even greater than that, he was Son fucking Goku.

Ino may have been strong, but he was even stronger.

As the dance continued, the air was filled with a conglomerate of emotion—joy, regret, love, and pain.

Sasuke and Haku remained lost in each other, oblivious to the drama unfolding around them. For them, this was a moment of pure connection, a celebration of the bond that only their specific lots in life could have orchestrated. They danced as if no one else in the universe existed, as if the world was theirs alone.

Similar stories were told with the likes of Neji and Tenten, Yugao and Itachi, and Shikamaru and Temari. But for the rest, the dance was something else entirely. It was a reminder of the choices they had made, the paths they had taken, and the consequences that followed.

Whether that meant you were single like Kakashi, in the abyss like Naruto and Ino, betrayed like Sakura, or resigned like Lee. Or as free as a bird in the young existences of Sarada and Shisui,

Hinata, sensing the turmoil in the air, spoke to her fiancé. "Y'know, Goku, love sure doesn't seem always easy. But it's worth it, isn't it?"

Goku nodded, his eyes softening even more as he looked down at her. "Yeah, it is. But sometimes, you've got to fight for it. And sometimes… you've got to fight yourself."

Hinata smiled, resting her head on his shoulder once more. "We'll fight together, then, like we always have."

Goku's grip on her tightened slightly, the gesture communicating that the two of them would face it all: side by side.
