Chapter 3: The Surprise
Danny was flying and holding Star, bridal style. The two of them were on the way to their long-awaited date and both felt high spirits right now.
"I haven't felt this free since flying in the air for the very first time..." Danny thought relaxed, smiling as if he was on cloud nine.
And coincidentally there were nine clouds around them, he couldn't help but chuckle at just how coincidentally fitting the sky around them was.
"Huh, it's almost as if the universe is telling us that all is right with the world. Which I totally agree..." He thought, smiling widely if that turned out to be the case.
But mainly he was just glad that he's with the girl he loves rather than with a certain fake redheaded monster who was finally getting what she deserved right now.
"Come on, Danny-Boo. Just tell me where we are going?..." Star asked in a cutesy voice.
"Sorry, Starlight. I'm not spoiling this surprise..." Danny replied with a smile, while his girlfriend pouted a bit.
Star rubbed her chin with her finger as if contemplating her next move and once she got an idea, she tried again.
"Come on, could you at least just give me a hint? Pretty please with ghostly sugar on top?..." Star asked, fluttering her eyelashes at him.
"Acting cute isn't going to work, Starlight. Not this time, anyway..." Danny said.
"Aww, come on my ghostly stud..." Star pouted, making him chuckle at that.
"Ghostly Stud? That's a new one and while I like the sound of that, I'm still not saying a word. You are just going to have to wait and see when we get there..." He said firmly, since he had a lot of things planned for today.
"Can you at least tell me how much longer it will be until we get there?..." Star asked curiously.
"Well, at my current speed, we'll get there in about ten minutes. I could go faster but you did say not to fly too fast because of your hair..."Danny said, Star rolling her eyes at this.
"Me and my big mouth..." Star thought before she looked over at her boyfriend and replied in a cutesy tone.
"Okay, I guess I can wait ten minutes...no messing with my hair please..." She requested.
"You got it, Starlight..." Danny said, being careful.
The blonde really wanted to know where they were heading but being impatient wasn't going to make things go faster. So instead, she decided to enjoy the scenery and more importantly their time together.
"I can wait. All that matters is that I finally get to enjoy a Ghost-Free and more importantly a Colette-free date with my Danny-Boo..."Star said in a flirty way, making her boyfriend grin.
"I couldn't have said it better myself, Starlight..." The ghost boy agreed with a chuckle.
"I still can't believe that after the most chaotic week...and birthday in history...I finally get to have you all to myself..."Star said in a loving tone.
"Anything for you, Starlight..." Danny said in a loving tone as the flight and flirting continued.
10 minutes later
Danny and Star soon landed in a nearby alley. There, Danny changed back into his human form and soon rejoined Star on the sidewalk.
"Okay, we're about a minute away from our destination. So, we can walk from here..."Danny said.
"Lead the way, Danny-Boo. I'm dying to know why you were being so mysterious..."Star said, as she held his hand.
The two began to walk and hold hands. In less than a minute, Danny brought Star to their first surprise, a nice, new ramen shop for lunch. However, this one was much more modern looking than the one they usual go to.
"Wow... nice..." Star said as she looked around.
"I know you like ramen, and I figured that we can both start our special day with something we would both enjoy. Plus. I'm still hungry for REAL food after all that rich people stuff I had to eat this past week..." Danny said.
"So, your surprise was bringing me to get some great ramen? Which I am totally for by the way..." Star said with a smile.
"It's just one of many stops we have today. I figured we could start with something that that will fill our stomachs. After this, there are plenty of places, I have planned for us to visit today..." Danny said as he led her inside the ramen shop.
"Ooh, there you go being so mysteriously vague, again..." Star teased.
"Aren't I always?..." He teased back as he opened the door for her.
"After you, my Starlight..." He said coyly.
"Oh, such a gentleman..." She giggled as they entered the establishment.
Once inside, Danny told a nearby waiter since they have a reservation, and they were soon seated and placed their orders.
Star ordered some shrimp ramen and Danny ordered some beef ramen and some sodas for the both of them. As the two waited for their meals, they began to chat and make up for lost time.
The two began to feel relaxed once they knew they were finally alone together, just like they had been wanting all week.
"I've missed this..." Star said, being sincere.
"And I missed you..." Danny said, smiling at her as he placed his hand on hers.
Star smiled at him, feeling really happy right now.
Danny and Star soon leaned in and shared a kiss, both just happy that they finally had some time to themselves.
And some GHOST-FREE and much more importantly COLETTE-FREE time too.
It was heavenly to say the least.
Later
Soon, their ramen arrived, and the couple began to eat and talk, pretty much having a great time, no headaches or misery involves like the previous days.
"Sweet. It looks good..."Star said, looking pleased when she saw the delicious meal in front of her.
"It sure does..."Danny said, as Star picked up her chopsticks.
Danny did the same.
"Yum… This smells better than it looks..."Star said, taking a bite and loving it.
"I wonder if it tastes better than it smells?..."Danny asked before taking a bite.
"Oh, this is delicious!..." Star said, after taking the first bite.
"You can say that again..." Danny said, before taking another bite of his ramen.
"Oh, this is delicious!" She repeated this time with a teasing tone, something that made her boyfriend chuckle.
The two continued to eat and talk about other subjects, such as what they planned to do once the meal was done and that it would be a day that would have so many memories.
However, they both recalled something that they still couldn't believe.
"To think that Puck helped us out without even having to ask him. And on top of that, he managed to trick Beatrice the Terrible into wasting her only wish..." Danny said, impressed.
"I'm glad that he did. If she had gotten her way, I don't doubt she would have wished for us to break up for good and probably be continents apart just like an extra kick in the head..." Star said, knowing how her ex-grandmother would act this way if given the chance.
"I doubt she would have gotten the opportunity to do that, Starlight..." Danny replied. "I think Puck told me once that his magic can't interfere with true love, plus in her deranged mind, she thought Colette was the 'Good guy' and was cheering for her to get me as far as way from you as possible..."Danny said, frowning as he recalled that.
"But then again, had that happened, the old bat would have been trapped in her nightmare till the end of time..."He added.
"Which would be nothing short of appropriate if you ask me, she's already in a lot of trouble when she tried to set me up with Toadman and ruin the lives of everyone we love simply out of spite. I really hate that woman..." Star said, frowning.
"Same here. Let's not forget about that old crone releasing those ghosts just to capture me. And like a coward, she ran away rather than to solve the problem she caused. Pathetic..."Danny added with disgust.
"I'll say. I already had a low opinion of her and the bar just keeps getting lower with each passing day..." Star said bluntly.
"Is it any wonder why no one in my family with the exception of my grandpa likes her and avoids the old bat like the plague? I don't think she even has one person that considers her a friend..."She muttered.
"No surprise there, Starlight. Honestly, I still don't understand why Richard doesn't just leave her and find someone way better than the old bat. I mean like the saying goes, there are plenty of fish in the sea, preferably a more pleasant type of fish rather than the vicious anglerfish that is Beatrice the Terrible..." Danny said, confusing his girlfriend a bit.
"That's oddly specific, Danny-Boo..." Star said with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, I'd call her a piranha, but that would be giving her too much credit as that would imply that she's vicious and a real threat but in actuality she's an overgrown toddler that makes a tantrum for just about anything when she doesn't get her way..." Danny said.
"True...'Star admitted.
"Plus, I think Psycolette has more in common with those dangerous flesh-eaters that can dilacerate a body in seconds, I mean, she may think of herself as high society but we know that's the furthest thing from the truth since we have seen her at her worst... Come to think of it, she doesn't have a 'best', does she?..."Danny said, and Star sighed.
"No, she doesn't because that brat doesn't have one, and while I get what you mean in Psycolette's case, I don't understand why you would specifically compare the old bat to an anglerfish of all things?..." Star wondered, looking at her boyfriend expectantly for an answer.
"Oh, I just made the comparison since an anglerfish is an ugly, dangerous carnivorous creature that lives in total darkness and can and will chomp down on anything in seconds and leave nothing but horror in its wake..." Danny explained. "And since the old bat is capable of doing pretty much the same thing by damaging a person's self-worth over time or just hires other people to do her dirty work for her, I just couldn't help but notice the similarities..."The ghost boy explained.
His girlfriend thought about it and began to see his logic.
"I have to agree that it's a very appropriate comparison, though I can't help but feel like we are insulting the anglerfish too much. I mean, the species as a whole can't help it as they do whatever they have to in order to survive and have to attack when they feel threatened due to that just being nature. In contrast my ex-grandma CHOOSES to be a vicious old bat and hurts others out of her own accord because she thinks she's entitled to do so simply because she has money… Money she didn't earn by the way..." Star said with disgust.
"Yeah, sounds about right. Heck, that old bat is probably more cold blooded than any creature on the face of the Earth..." The ghost boy commented.
"Which brings me back to my previous topic, I don't know what my grandpa ever saw in her. I just hope that he eventually opens his eyes and dumps her sorry butt and find someone who can actually make him happy..." She bluntly stated, feeling bad for her grandpa who is just too forgiving for his own good.
"I hope that too. No one deserves to be stuck with that old bat. Still, I really wish that I could've seen the look on the old hag's face when Puck delivered her the "bad news", it had to have been hilarious..." Danny said with a chuckle.
"I'm sure it was. We're talking about a woman who once threw a temper tantrum because she couldn't go to a spa appointment because the place had to close due to the fact that weather had been bad at the time and had the nerve to complain about that to the owner..." Star said, knowing that old bat must be having a lousy time right now.
The blonde girl then shook her head in disgust at that old woman and her attitude.
"I still can't believe I am actually biologically related to an awful, immature person like that. Honestly, even Pierre is wiser and more mature than she is and he is still teething..."Star commented.
"Pierre is wiser and more mature that the old bat, his scummy father Jean-Puke and Psycholette put together. Let's just be grateful he doesn't take after any of them..."Danny said.
"That is so true..."Star said, hoping her little brother wouldn't grow up to be anything like Beatrice or Jean-Puke and his rotten daughter.
The Ghost Boy then chuckled, something that got his girlfriend's attention.
"What's so funny Danny-Boo?..."The blonde girl asked.
"Oh nothing, I was just wondering something..." He said with some humor in his tone. "Remember Youngblood?..."He asked.
"That Ghost who likes to dress up a lot and tried to ruin our date-a-thon that one time? What about him?..." She asked curiously.
"Remember how I told you that only kids can see him?..." Danny questioned, already knowing the answer.
"Yeah?.." The blonde replied, already suspecting what he was going to say.
"Well, I told you that kids that think they're a grown up like Jazz did during a family trip couldn't see him either. So that made me think, what if it works the other way around as well?..." He explained his train of thoughts.
"What if Beatrice the Terrible could see Youngblood? If that's the case then it would be confirmation that she has the maturity of a three-year-old..."He said, making his girlfriend laugh at the idea.
"I don't see any flaw in that logic, Danny-Boo. And honestly I wouldn't be surprised if that ended up being the case..." Star replied with a smirk.
"Neither would I..." Danny nodded before taking another bite from his meal.
"Let's not talk about that old bat or Psycholette anymore, Danny-Boo. That old hag is already where she deserves to be, and I don't want to lose my appetite talking about those despicable people that we been forced to deal with..." Star said, making a face of disdain.
"Yeah. Good call Starlight. Heck, I always thought she was way worse than Colette but that has changed since last week...Although I still say they are both equally terrible, just in different ways..." Danny said.
"Very true Danny-Boo..." The blonde agreed.
"Anyway, any talk about those dimwits should be avoided at any cost, I don't want to lose my appetite after all..." Star said, not wanting to let her evil ex-grandmother and wicked stepsister to ruin their half-a-versary.
"I second that emotion, Starlight..." Danny said with a nod.
He then sent her a loving look and the blonde girl returned it.
"I love you..."He said, making her happy.
"Love you too, Boo..." Star said with a smile, the two shared a quick kiss before they went back to eating the rest of their ramen.
All the while, the two lovebirds continued their six-month anniversary date, both unaware that a certain fae and old bat were about to meet again, even as they spoke.
Meanwhile
With Puck
The fairy was in the middle of sunbathing on the beach of a tropical island, relaxing until he recalled something that he had been putting off for a while.
"Oh man, I almost forgot. I still haven't had a chance to tell "granny" the good news..." He said mischievously, as he snapped his fingers and soon teleported.
He was soon in Switzerland wearing his Grim Reaper robe once more. He was now looking for his target...I mean...Beatrice.
As predicted, the old bat still wasn't doing any kind of work in order to earn some money and was now hiding in the old shack that was her temporary home. She also had some quarters that she was obsessively counting over and over as if she thought what little cash, she had would magically multiply.
Puck wasn't sure how she obtained her meager cash but what he did know was that she most likely didn't earn it the old fashion way. The old crone still didn't realize his presence and kept counting and complaining about her fate.
"The indignity. A descendent of nobility such as myself being reduced to such humiliation and living like a filthy peasant..." Beatrice grumbled as she cursed Phantom over and over for all her woes.
"When I have my momey and power again, he will pay...'She vowed, as she kept the spare change she managed to find to herself.
"Talking to yourself. I'd say you finally lost it...but I think that ship sailed long ago..." Puck said, making his presence known.
The elderly woman flinched and gasped as she turned around and saw him. She glared at him but recalled their last encounter.
"What is it now?..." Beatrice demanded, not wanting to deal with him again.
"Well, good news. Colette got arrested and your granddaughter and her friends' names were cleared. Oh, and she and Danny are still together, and in fact they're on a date right now as we speak, isn't that nice?..."Puck said with a casual smile.
Beatrice frowned bitterly.
"As if I care what happens with that abomination Phantom and my ungrateful traitor of a granddaughter! They should have gotten what they deserved for leaving me here to rot!..."The old bat sneered hatefully, making her bitterness and evilness clear as day.
Puck rolled his eyes at her blatant disrespect but then again, he wasn't surprised by her foul attitude, quite the contrary actually, he just couldn't comprehend how someone who had everything handed to her on a silver platter her whole life have such a vile personality and a heart as cold as ice and would treat her own flesh and blood in such a despicable way.
"How has that husband of yours NOT ditched you or lose his mind by now? I'll never know, that human has to have the patience of a saint...Or he is just really blind with love, something which you don't deserve mind you..." Puck said and Beatrice looked offended.
"Or he more than likely just has REALLY bad taste in women. I mean...seriously...I just don't get what he sees in a creature who's old as dust, has a bad attitude, is too lazy to lift even a finger to get anything done and isn't even easy on the eyes by mortal standards and has more wrinkles than a certain breed of dog. And I'm pretty sure that most of that applied to you too over a century ago too when you were, by human standards, young. But then again, I'm betting you weren't quite a sight to see back then either..."Puck mocked, infuriating the former grande dame even more now.
"How dare you?! I'll have you know that I was very fetching in my younger years and I STILL AM!..."Beatrice snapped, offended.
"Funny, when you say "fetching", I think of dogs. A specific word for a pooch actually, but I rather keep the language PG here..." Puck mocked.
"Uncouth abomination! How dare you imply such a thing to me?! Do you know who I am?!..."Beatrice snapped.
"Seems appropriate considering your attitude. Oh, and to briefly change the subject, when was the last time you took a shower? PEW! You reek like if an expired yogurt, bad apples and ginger snaps had been left in a fridge for over a year..." Puck said as he held his nose and Beatrice gasped in humiliation.
She blushed in embarrassment before she directed her anger at one of the beings who caused her suffering.
"SHUT UP! It's your fault I haven't had a chance to go to shower, wash my hair or even go the spa in what seems like an eternity, and you have no right to speak to me that way, you despicable freak of nature!..." Beatrice hissed, but the fae got annoyed and decided to make his point the best way he knew how.
"Watch the attitude Granny. You know what I can do...Or do I need to give you a reminder? Do you really wanna tick me off again?..."Puck said, raising his hand which sparked a bit, as if he was sending out a warning.
Recalling where she stood in all of this, Beatrice gulped and backed down.
"I didn't think so. Guess you're not as unintelligent as you look, though you could have fooled me..." Puck said.
Beatrice gritted her teeth at the insult but kept quiet for fear of angering the entity that was her only window outside of this nightmare.
"So, I did my part..." She grudgingly said. "Did you tell Phantom that?..."She asked, desperate to get out of her.
"I did..." He confirmed, and the old woman looked hopeful right now.
"But I also told good old Danny that you were still trying to get between him and Star, want to guess how they reacted to that bit of information? I'll give you a hint… Not well, in fact you just ticked them off more than you could possibly imagine..."The fae said, crushing her hope of a possible early parole.
Beatrice may have been a stubborn old bat, but she wasn't necessarily stupid. She knew that the creature before her was implying and she suspected that whatever came next, she was not going to like.
… And she was right.
"Danny and his friends put it to a vote. And guess what? They all voted to leave you here for the remaining of you sentence but not just that, it was voted to leave you here for a few more months..."Puck said airily.
This infuriated the old bat.
"SAY WHAT?! This is an outrage! They can't do that!..." She bellowed.
"They can and did..." Puck said.
"And guess what? Danny didn't specify by what he meant by a few more months, it could be as short as six months or maybe as long as let's say sixteen months..."He said, horrifying the old woman.
"SIXTEEN MONTHS?!..."She screamed.
"Possibly, it all depends on your behavior. The less nasty you are, the less time you're here. The more evil you are, the longer your sentence will be and trust me, Danny will know everything because I'm going to be the one who tells him every little detail of your time here..."The fae revealed and the old bat was freaking out.
NO! This can't be!..." Beatrice yelled out in horror.
She tried begging the fairy yet again to help her.
"How much is Phantom paying you? Whatever it is I can double it! Triple it! I'll tell my husband to pay you as much as you want. Just get me out of here!..."Beatrice pleaded, being down on her hands and knees as she did so and looking very pitiful right now.
With disgust, Puck got out a pen and some paper and began writing.
"Trying to bribe me to get you out sooner. No.. no… Danny's not going to like this..." Puck said disdainfully.
"THIS IS NOT FAIR!..." Beatrice exploded.
"I WAS JUST PROTECTING MY FAMILY LINEAGE! I DID NOTHING WRONG! ITS ALL THAT HORRIBLE PHANTOM'S FAULT! ALL BECAUSE OF HIM I LOST EVERYTHING AND I AM DEALING WITH THIS HUMILIATION! HE SHOULD BE HERE! NOT ME! I DEMAND JUSTICE!..." She started ranting loudly, throwing a huge temper tantrum.
Puck ignored the screams and insults from the old bat, rolling his eyes.
"I think that I better put an end to this before you disturb the nice residence of this town any further...' Puck said as he snapped his fingers.
"YOU CANNOT JUST LEAVE ME HERE AS IF I'M SOME FILTHY PEASANT NOBODY! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! I AM THE GRAND DAME AND MATRIARCH OF THE TRAVILLE FAMILY, A DESCENDENT OF A COUNT AND I-..."Beatrice's screaming was halted when she realized no sound was coming out.
She stopped, blinked and was confused. She tried to speak again; her mouth was moving but no sound was coming out. She tried even harder and looked like she was screaming but there was only silence.
Puck smirked.
"Ah, much better. I bet all the people who unfortunately got the misery to know you wish they could do this, who knows I might just give Danny this power should he need it in the future, that could save him a lot of headaches..."The fae said, while Beatrice tried to ask something but no sound came out but he could make an educated guess on what she desperately wanted to know.
"Want to know why you are finally quiet for a change, huh? Well, I decided that your vocal cords and the residence of this poor country could use a break from all your yapping and screeching. It's designed to last about 73 hours. but I can make it last longer if I need to..." Puck said, while the old bat began to scream or tried to as no sound came out of her mouth.
it was all very amusing for the fairy who snickered, pleased with his clever use of magic.
"So, tata and see you in three days..." Puck said. "Oh, and I suggest you get a job if you want to eat anytime soon, who knows? If you actually did something productive for once, you could eat more than whatever you find in the trash..."The fairy added.
This made Beatrice's already ugly face become even uglier with rage as she tried to scream but couldn't say anything.
"Oh, and one last thing, I sure hope you still have those two cents Danny gave you, because they're crucial, without them you won't get out of here..." Puck said.
This made the old hag's eyes widened in horror at the revelation.
"Do I still have those accursed two cents?..." She thought, she hated those things as it represented Phantom's taunting last words to her but she hated being here even more.
"She's so gullible. She's even believing every word I'm saying as if her life depends on it, which it technically doesn't since fae's can't kill and even if I wasn't under orders, I still wouldn't do that to any human. But this is still pretty funny, I gotta remember to come back here soon to see what she does to herself.." Puck thought, successfully tricking her again.
Without another word Puck soon vanished, leaving the impoverished and now quiet old hag behind.
The same one who was now chasing after some pigeons who saw the shiny coins and took them from the old bat.
"UNHAND MY TICKET TO FREEDOM, YOU WINGED THIEVES!..."Beatrice thought, wanting to scream that but her voice is still gone as she had no choice but to chase after them and ignore the strange looks that she was getting from passerby's.
Back with Danny and Star
Our favorite couple were still chatting as they waited for their food. They had finished their bowls of ramen and had now ordered some more dishes since they were still a little hungry. And they couldn't be happier about it because they were together at last.
"As Clockwork would say, everything is as it should be..." Danny thought pleased.
"What are you thinking Danny-Boo?..." Star asked curiously.
"Oh. Nothing much, Starlight..." Danny said.
The blonde shrugged; she figured her boyfriend was enjoying his meal just as she was.
"I'm just glad that witch is under house arrest until the trial..." Danny said evenly "Your dad did say that he has more than enough evidence to make this an easy win..."He added.
"I really hope he gives her and Jean-Puke heck. They deserve it..."Star said.
"He'll do much more than that, Star. We've all seen what your dad can do in a court room. He's going to destroy them there..."Danny said, agreeing with her.
"He's going to be merciless. I can't wait to see him take them down..."Star said and Danny nodded.
"Same here, Starlight..."Danny said, relaxing a bit.
He was just glad Psycholette was finally being punished for her actions and he no longer had to worry about that brat.
They agreed to stop talking about her and continued to eat their meals, while Star kept asking him for a hint about his next surprise for their date. Something he refused to do.
"Come on, Boo..."Star tried again.
"No, Star..."Danny said with a smile, as he shook his head.
Star held his hand and sent him puppy dog eyes that usually made him putty in her hands, since she only uses this trick on special occasions. However, to Star's surprise, Danny does his best to resist her adorably irresistible expression since he really doesn't want to spoil his other surprises for her.
"Come on Boo...Please...Boo-Boo..." Star said sweetly, using another pet name she had for him that she usually used when they were alone.
"What did I say about acting cute? It's not going to change my mind on the subject. Though I will admit you acting REALLY cute right now..."Her boyfriend said, while his girlfriend sighed.
"Seriously? Not even one little, itty-bitty hint. Please..."Star tried again in a cutesy tone yet again.
"Ah, can't do that Starlight. Don't want to spoil the surprise for you..." Danny said, but she persisted.
"Come on Boo, you can spoil me a bit..." Star counters quickly.
"I could but no... Where's the fun in that?..." He teased. "I love keeping you guessing, it's gonna make all the surprises I have for you all the more fun..."He said.
"I knew I should've added the lower lip pout with the puppy dog eyes..." Star thought, but quickly let it go, since she will be better prepared the next time she'll have need for it.
"You know you can be really stubborn when you want to be..."Star said.
"Why, thank you, my Starlight..." Danny teased back with a fake British accent.
The blonde giggled at that.
"You can be such a dork sometimes to..." She teased.
"You love it, admit it..." Danny said.
"Who says I don't?..." Star teased, smiling at him.
They soon interwoven their hands together and sent loving looks to each other. The happy couple continued to flirt with each other and even calling each other by more cutey nicknames, albeit keeping their voices low as to not disturb the other patrons.
"You really are quite the amazing girl..." Danny said sweetly.
"Thank you, Boo Boo..." Star said cutely to her boyfriend.
"My pleasure, my super starshine..."Danny said, just as cutely.
"I love you, my half ghost knight..." Star said.
"Love you too, my artistic angel ..."Danny said, making her giggle and feel butterflies in her tummy.
"Oh Danny..."Star sighed lovingly.
The two continued to flirt and act cute and lovey dovey with each other for a few more minutes as their date continued.
Later
After finishing their meals and paying the bill, Danny and Star went to go get a light dessert before going to their next stop.
And the place they went to next was the Nasty Burger.
"Ok, I'll give you this Danny-Boo, I sure wasn't expecting this..." Star said with a smile.
"That's good to know Starlight..." Danny replied. "It means I'm doing my job trying to keep you guessing but don't worry, not all stops are going to be food related, I have much more things planned for us today..."He promised.
"Looking forward to seeing what they are, Danny-Boo..." Star replied with a smile, as they entered their favorite hangout.
Since they already had their lunch at the ramen place, they went to get some milkshakes for dessert. They quickly ordered a strawberry milkshake for Star and a kiwi-fudge one for Danny.
"How's your milkshake?..." Star said.
"Ah, how I missed this flavor..." Danny said as they went to their usual table.
"This tastes even better after not having tasted food I actually like for a week. I doubt Psycholette would have even allowed me to have this ever again since she'd probably see this as "peasant food" or whatever she'd call it. Please, like I care about the opinion of someone who has such an awful attitude and even worse taste in everything else..."Danny said, not caring for the opinions of a sociopath who thought she was better than everyone else.
"She just doesn't know what she is missing. She's always been picky and stuck up about...well...everything ..."Star said, since she did like his unusual smoothies and milkshakes.
"This always was a safe haven for me ever since I unfortunately met Psycolette, you know, Starlight..." The ghost boy commented.
"Yeah, this place is pretty much that for everyone that hates her..." She agreed. "Mostly because it made a great Colette-free zone whenever we needed to get away from that lunatic..."She added.
"You said it. It was one of the few times we could use her snobbiness against her..."Danny said. "True, there were times that she did step inside here, but she never stayed long because she always saw the Nasty Burger beneath her and refused to even come within ten feet of this place unless she could help it..."Danny said.
"Yeah, that psycho really refused to eat anywhere that was less than four stars. I suppose it speaks volumes of her high maintenance. ..."Star said in irritation.
"Don't I know it. I sure hope I don't have nightmares from the time I gave her a pedicure..."Danny said, shuddering at the memory.
Star felt really sorry for him. no one should have to endure such a terrible experience.
"Well, at least you can take comfort in the fact that witch won't be getting another pedicure for a very long time Danny-Boo..." Star said. "After all she won't be able to afford it, in fact she won't be able to afford anything ever again!...'She said, looking glad about that.
"That's gotta be killing her. Good, she deserves nothing less..." Danny said with a chuckle.
"You said it. May misery rain down upon Psycholette and may she remain out of our lives forever now!..."Star said, while her boyfriend chuckled at that.
"I'll drink to that!..." Danny said as he took another sip from his milkshake.
The happy couple continued to enjoy their milkshakes, both feeling relaxed and at peace right now. As well as enjoying their freedom from one of the banes of their existence.
A little later
After finishing their milkshakes, they stepped out of their usual hangout, Star saw as Danny stretched a bit before he took her into his arms for their next destination.
"So, where to next? You're not getting tired already, are you Danny-Boo?..."Star asked teasingly.
"Oh, don't worry Starlight, I have plenty of energy and plenty of more things planned for today..."Danny said with a determined grin on his face.
One that Star returned.
"Me too..."She said, having her own surprise in the works for later, something she knew her boyfriend would like.
"Speaking on which, can we make a quick stop? I need a minute or two to do something..."Star said, having a plan of her own.
"One quick pit stop, coming right up..."He said, nodding.
The couple soon left the area together, both pleased with how the day was going so far as this blissful and romantic half-a-versary was only getting started.
Later
After several minutes of flying, Star asked Danny to land and excusing herself for a quick moment before immediately returning to her boyfriend so they could continue with their date.
They still had several more places to visit, but Star insisted on making a quick pit stop. And right now, she was navigating her boyfriend on where to go and land.
"So, mind telling me where we are going?..."Danny asked.
"Nope, not happening Boo. That would ruin the surprise..." She replied coyly.
"Oh, so you're using my own words against me now?..." He asked playful. "I suppose that's what I get for being an awesome boyfriend..."He said.
Star giggled at his antics.
"Well, you wouldn't give me any hints, so I won't give you any..."Star said playfully. "Don't worry Danny-Boo, we're almost there..."She said teasingly.
Danny smiled at her. He was willing to wait and see what it was she wanted to do to surprise him, but he wanted to be sure on something.
"Can you at least let me know how far it is? And should we keep flying Air Phantom or not?..."Danny asked.
"No worries. It's not that far away from here. Just another block or so..."Star said, as she kept holding his hand.
"In that case, lead the way, Milady..."Danny said with a coy grin.
"As you wish, my knight in ghostly armor..."Star said coyly, making the two laughs as they continued to walk together.
A few minutes later
The happy couple soon arrived at their destination, and once there, Star had a big grin on her face as she turned to her boyfriend.
"Surprise!..."She said cheerfully, while her boyfriend looked around.
Once his eyes landed on a certain structure, he raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"You brought me to a closed observatory?..."Danny asked, not understanding.
"Not just any observatory, Danny-Boo. The same one that we barely spent time together at when I got sick, remember? I managed to get us a private tour of the place..."Star revealed, shocking her boyfriend.
"For real?!..." He asked and Star nodded.
"I remember how you once said that you that you cared way more about my well-being than being spoiled on your own birthday, and while that was an endearing statement, I didn't like that you missed such an opportunity. So, I looked up this place and it turns out that they allow a private, virtual tour for special VIP's that reversed scheduled viewing for one hour..." Star said.
Danny smiled at her and gave her a hug.
"Aw, Starlight. You're too good to me..."Danny said, hugging her.
"Aww, right back at ya, Danny-boo..."Star said, hugging him back.
"Now what are we waiting for. Let's go have a proper redo on that birthday date of ours..."Star said with a giggle, before they stopped and went to the observatory.
Which thankfully the manager was still there and was more than willing to let the couple inside and have their time together for one private hour, as promised by the reserved scheduled viewing privileges for exclusive customers.
It just made Danny love Star even more, if that was even possible.
"Still, how did you manage to pull this off? I mean...I know your family is insanely rich, but you didn't spend a fortune to set this up, did you?..."Danny asked, almost concerned.
"Relax, Boo. Eleanor is one of the main benefactors to this place and I asked her for a favor. She was more than happy to talk to her friend who is in charge here and set this up..."Star said, smiling sweetly at her man.
"Oh, really?..."Danny asked, and Star nodded.
"Yep. So don't worry, I didn't spend a huge amount of cash on this. I know money doesn't impress you but the meaning behind the it all. After all, actions speak louder than words, right Danny-Boo?..." She said, earning a smile from him.
"Right..." He agreed.
"And so far, I'm seeing my girlfriend really loves me, but not as much as I love her..."He said, wrapping his arms around her again.
"Aww, that's adorable!..." The Blonde gushed. "Corny but adorable..."She said, giggling.
"You're spoiling me, you know that, Starlight?..." Danny chuckled.
"You done that for me plenty of times, Danny-Boo. It's my turn to return the favor. Plus, what's the point of being from a family with connections if I can't use it to do something special for my one and one ghost boy..." She said while her boyfriend smiled at her and held her hand lovingly.
"I see no flaw in your logic..." Danny said, kissing her cheek.
The two were now in the seating area and sat down as they began to watch an amazing virtual showing of the known universe, solar system and many more mysteries of space...and our happy couple held hands the entire time.
Later
After they finished their little trek of watching an impressive cinematic showing of celestial events from beyond the stars (as well as swapping spit every once in a while, during the show), the couple left the observatory, and Danny was in a good mood.
"Man, that was awesome! I still can't believe you got us a private virtual tour of the universe, and that awesome show of all the planets in the solar system!..."Danny said, still amazed by what they just experienced.
"Anything for you, Boo..."Star said lovingly, making her boyfriend smile.
"So, which one was your favorite part?..." She asked, referring to the virtual show of space they just witness.
"I loved all of it, but I think my favorite was the part of the show about Jupiter and Venus..."Danny explained.
"Why those planets specifically?..."Star asked.
Danny shrugged, as he couldn't quite explain why he has attracted interest in learning about these two planets in particular.
"I just thought they were cool. Especially with Jupiter being named after the roman god of thunder, which I guess makes sense, since Jupiter isn't just famous for being the biggest planet of our solar system, but also a planet filled with wind shears, cyclones and stuff like that..."He said.
"Plus, the history behind Venus's name was something I didn't know..." Danny answered. "Who would have thought such an inhospitable, hot planet was named after the Roman Goddess of love and beauty?..."He added.
"That was something interesting for sure..." Star said, while her boyfriend sent her flirty eyes.
"And I learned that all thanks to my Starlight, who is as the smartest and the loveliest beauty in my eyes...' Danny said flirtatiously, making her smile at him.
"Oh, Boo..."Star said, sighing happily.
The couple shared a quick loving kiss and got some nearby soda's and were taking a short break in between all of the fun they were having today.
"This is the life, ain't it, Boo?..."Star said, taking a sip of her diet cola.
"You said it, Starlight..." Danny said, doing the same.
Once done, Danny noticed the time on his watch and gasped.
"Oh crud! Is it that time already?..." Danny asked. "Best hurry if I want us to make it on time!..."He said.
"On time for what?..."Star asked curiously, as Danny hid behind a large tree and changed into his ghost form.
"You'll see. And once you do, you'll realize just how much having you in my life really means to me..."Danny said vaguely as he picked her up and held her bridal style again.
"Now you've gotten me more excited and curious. I can't wait to see what you have in store for me this time, Danny-boo..." Star said, smiling at him.
"Trust me, my sweet starshine. You'll love it or my name isn't Danny Phantom!..." The Ghost Boy said, smiling sweetly at her.
Our favorite lovebirds soon flew out of the area together to continue with their date, both pleased with how the day was going so far as this blissful and romantic Half-a-versary was only getting started.
