Naruto sped through the forest surrounding konoha until he reached konoha's northern gates. He was tracking Haku's trail with his seigan, which was easy since she'd left ice needles for him to track.
He could see the chakra signatures of a group of shinobi a kilometer ahead and knew one was shino which meant Haku was able to alert the village who'd then sent a team. It probably wasn't an experienced team because they were all out on missions to make up for the chunin exam security. Naruto left via shunshin, he was going to put his speed to the test.
Moments later, Shino and his impromptu team consisting of kiba, choji, shikamaru, and neji were following a trail of ice needles when a shinobi rushed passed them almost faster then he could see. Kiba, choji, and Shikamaru stopped and assumed a defensive position prompting the rest of the group to stop as well.
"What the fuck was that," kiba screamed. "It was Naruto, we were not under attack," shino replied stoically. "Are you sure? Did you get a good look at him, Neji?" Shikamaru asked.
"Yes, I did. It was naruto Namiuzu. There's no one else around," Neji affirmed with his byakugan activated. "He was so fast. I couldn't even see him." Choji asked. "There's no time. We need to keep moving or we could be too late to complete our mission." Shino said before giving the signal to continue in formation.
Further north of konoha, Haku phased into an ice mirror created on the trunk of a thick tree next to her. She wasted no time jumping from mirror to mirror while peppering sakon and ukon with ice senbon.
She'd done the same to the shinobi who wanted her sword, but the needles seemed to go right through him. The other two had skin or armor thick enough that her needles couldn't pass through.
She wasn't the only one with unique abilities, it appeared. I was best to preserve her chakra but apparently she didn't have that luxury. Haku reactivated her hidden mist jutsu before returning to her mirrors.
"Did you have fun trying to poke us? Hahaa ha." Ukon screamed into the mist. "Yea, we've gotten worse from our acupuncture specialist in otto," Sakon said as the brothers voices echoed in a chorus of laughter.
"Stop, you idiots. This technique, it's not a joke." Suigetsu informed them while staying on guard. "Worry about yourself Suigetsu," Ukon cackled. Haku wasted no time while they laughed, using her mirrors to propel her into position behind Ukon. She held the kubikiribocho high before delivering a silent diagonal slash to bifurcate the smart ass.
The blade cut from his shoulder to his midsection before getting stuck in the thick armor like structure covering his body. Ukon released a short wheezing scream with his dying breath as Haku tried to wrench the blade free.
Sakon lunged towards his brother's scream to find the horrifying sight of Haku yanking the giant blade out of his brother's half-split body. He swiped at Haku with a claw but the kunoichi was gone in a blur of speed he couldn't follow.
He looked back to his dead brother and could barely see his outline through the mist. He felt movement to the left and swiped at the air, then the right, then behind, above, to the left again.
Sakon clawed and lunged blindly to avenge his brother yet found nothing but air and mist until he heard the whistle of steel. It was so close, head no time to react before the giant blade decapitated him.
Haku released her mirrors for a moment and reached out with her senses while taking a deep breath to calm herself. She couldn't be sloppy in this situation, it was called the decapitating blade for a reason.
The hair on the back on her neck stood up and her eyes widened as she jumped to the nearest mirror to avoid being impaled by the suigetsu. Haku jumped from the mirror and approached Suigetsu from behind but the shinobi spun and parried her slash with surprising strength for his small stature.
"This mist isn't a problem for me, you know, in fact I like it. I'm a member of the Housiki clan. Suigetsu housiki. Now how is a yuki clan member alive, let alone carrying that sword and fighting for konoha?" Suigetsu queried.
Haku's eyes widened, now knowing how her needles passed through him. He could turn his body into water like the rest of his clan. And more than likely all the water in the air was only heightening any sensory abilities he had.
Haku disengaged before jumping away. She ran through the hand seals to turn the mist into Mirrors in the area.. "If the mist really wasn't a problem, then why'd you let your comrades die?" Haku responded, ignoring his question.
Suigestu was irritated. "Hey, I asked you a question first. But if you need to know, they were weak and I never liked them anyway. Now answer my question." Suigestu screamed out indignantly.
Haku ignored him once again in favor of looking for the kids. In her stupidity, she used a jutsu that obscured her view of them and was sure her opponents had gotten to them first. It was the spider ninja she figured when she found the kids.
He was holding the little uchihas and standing in a tree next to Sasuke. Haku noted that the Uchiha looked a bit crazy at the moment and the markings on his body weren't helping.
Sasuke jumped to the ground near Suigetsu with his sharingan fully matured and his curse mark beginning to cover more of his body. "I don't have time to wait on her to kill a bunch of weaklings. I know this technique. Time to finish this little rescue mission, ku." Sasuke said with an air of superiority and with an ominous smile.
Suigetsu seemed slightly unnerved. "The weaklings are dead and I need that sword by killing her and taking it off her dead hands." Suigetsu responded, not willing to easily back down for his precious sword.
He couldn't wait to get rid of the basic sword Orochimaru had given him, despite it supposedly meeting the requirements for respected samurai. "I don't care as long as she's dead." Sasuke said while scanning the area for the moment she appeared from a mirror.
Haku didn't like the chakra she was feeling from Sasuke. While she wasn't a slouch, she was in no way a sensor yet she felt it clearly. Maybe she could win with either one on one but together would be a tough task.
Good thing she was a shinobi, Haku changed plans and went for plan b. She jumped from the Mirror closest to the kids and readied her blade to take off a few of the spider shinobi's arms when something sticky caught her body just meters away from her target.
Her whole body was caught and as she took a closer look they were webs. Millions of tiny almost invisible webs but they were strong and she was trapped. "Tch, like I said, weak. Hold her right there." Sasuke said as a chidori enveloped his hand before jumping to a tree then lounging at the caught girl. H
Haku was tempted to panic but had been in bad situations before. She created an Ice mirror on the web before ice blades on her limbs. As Sasuke closed in, she twisted with all her strength, cutting herself free.
She could hear the chirping of the jutsu and see its glow but had just enough time to slip into the mirror and jump to another. Sasuke seen it coming with his sharingan and jumped off the surface of the web mirror and following Haku.
She wasn't expecting him to maneuver so quickly and follow her to her next mirror. She wasn't prepared for an attack like that and the mirror shattered, ejecting her out of it with a deep wound to her leg.
Haku threw senbon at Sasuke who batted them away but it was enough time for her to jump to another mirror. When she made it in the mirror, her concentration began to lessen due to the pain and exhaustion setting in.
She immediately had to jump to another before Sasuke shattered the one she was in. She'd released alot of chakra and didn't have the time of concentration needed to strengthen her mirrors enough to withstand that chidori so she continued to jump from mirror to mirror as sasuke shattered them one at a time, surprising her with the speed to somewhat keep pace.
In her lack of concentration, she didn't realize how few of her mirrors she had so when she jumped to a mirror she'd placed high in the branches of a tree, she found herself having to jump off the tree with a crippled foot followed by an antsy uchiha.
He soon caught up to her when he realized she missed a mirror by cutting off her path. Haku infused her hyoton chakra into the kubikiribocho to meet his chidori in a violent clash. They were both propelled backwards and her legendary sword gained a huge crack.
Nothing that couldn't be fixed with blood but that jutsu was powerful. Haku hit the ground and rolled ungracefully until she sensed suigetsu waiting for her. She plunged the sword in the ground, stopping her momentum before running through single hand signs for hyoton ever-chilling breeze.
Suigetsu appeared behind her prepared to slice her with his katana before she blew out a freezing cold gust of wind that initially blew suigetsu backwards before he began to froze solid.
Haku yanked out the giant blade, balancing on one foot and slashed downwards at the frozen shinobi. At the last second she redirected the blade to parry a barrage of spear-like projectiles.
The Legendary blade was big enough for her to hide behind leaving her unscathed from the attack but she had no time as a giant fireball burned through the air in her direction. Unable to use one of her feet, Haku placed a hand on the ground creating a path of ice out of the way and propelled herself away like she was skating on that one leg.
When she was clear of the fireball's path she received a heavy kick in the back that sent her flying, courtesy of the Uchiha. She even almost lost grip of her giant sword, something she'd trained tirelessly to avoid.
She flew through a tree and was caught, roughly to say the least, by impact left Her head reeling but she couldn't give up. She knew help would be coming, Naruto himself would undoubtedly be on the way. She only had to last a bit longer and keep the children there.
]moment later, Sasuke and the apparently thawed Suigetsu appeared in front of her as she was struggling to get up with the help of the kubikiribocho. "Hurry up and kill her, get your sword so we can go. I have… plans." The dark haired avenger said.
Sasuke's mannerisms were exceedingly unnerving, much like a certain snake sannin, suigetsu thought. "Well Yuuki kunoichi, you were definitely strong, and I'd hate to see what you coulda been in a few years but I need that sword and you have to die. Bye bye." Suigetsu said.
He then made a gun shape with his hand and fingers pointed at Haku. Water began to pool around his finger and condense into a ball at the point. "I'm no longer a Yuuki, Im a NamiUzu now." Haku said.
Suigetsu fired one of his clan's secret ninjutsu. Suiton water gun, hitting the kunoichi in the head while her body went slump. Suigetsu stepped forward and reached for the sword when Haku's body exploded in a violent barrage of ice shards.
So many hit Suigetsu that he fell into a puddle while Sasuke was able to dodge or block most with the white fang. Sasuke's senses screamed he was about to die and he'd spun around, raising his sword just in time to block the slash from Haku that would've decapitated him.
It was so close that the blade was stopped mere inches from his throat and the distance was closing since his position had no leverage. Sasuke channeled chakra into his blade before it released a burst of flames towards his opponent. She jumped away but had burns.
Haku landed on her good foot and took a defensive position. It then dawned on her that she could sense more shinobi signatures in the area and none of them were familiar. She had hoped that they were reinforcements for her but they were lost when she had to parry two gigantic shuriken made of a strong material she thought could be crystal.
She then saw a blue haired kunoichi wearing a battle kimono standing in a tree. A distance away, in his own tree, was another shinobi fully cloaked with an ominous feel about his chakra. Almost worse than sasuke's.
Even more, A new shinobi had engaged her in taijutsu, he had all white hair and two red dots about his eyebrows wearing regal white traditional clothing. He was fast, strong, and parried her sword strikes bones growing from his limbs.
It was all happening so fast. Haku had officially gotten in over her head and was now running on empty. She used a substitution to avoid the interaction with the new shinobi with steel like bones. Before weaving possibly her last hand seals.
They wouldn't take her out without a fight. She would freeze everything until help could arrive. Her ultimate technique, and the one she'd created for future generations of hyoton users. She started by channeling all the hyoton chakra she could onto her skin and the surrounding air She then had it all move and condense into her palm.
Once the chakra stabilized all she had to do was slam her hand into the ground releasing the pent up cold and hyoton chakra freezing everything in a large radius around her.
She raised her arm and thrust it to the ground but before it reached, she was struck from a barrage of those spear-like objects, yet they were bigger this time. They were sent from afar by kidomaru while still holding the impaled her straight through the midsection while the others tore through her shoulder, arms or legs as she fell to the ground in a bloody mess, clinging to consciousness.
Naruto felt Haku's chakra signature waning quickly and used a final shunshin to reach her. He appeared over her dying body, blood freely flowing from her body. The sight was devastating.
He immediately had flashbacks to Hinata's broken and battered form, missing an arm. Then to Shino's blood and bug covered body, clinging to life. And then to a grey haired woman with warm brown eyes looking at him with the love of what he felt a mother's would be like. He didn't know who that was, did he?
The blonde blinked and saw Haku's own loving eyes staring up at him. "Y-you came," she croaked out. Naruto fell to his knees beside her, knowing full well how many enemies were around. He released hundreds of chains that began to cocoon him and Haku.
His seigan lighting the chain dome as it sealed. "Haku, I'll get you out of here. I'll get you to Tsunade. As fast as possible dont worry." Naruto said in a subdued voice as if he had to force the words out.
He couldn't heal her like shino and HInata, there was no massively powerful chakra pool to absorb and convert around him and for some reason his own or kurama's never worked in that way.
Haku raised her hand and placed it on Naruto's chest while looking him in the eye. "No. Y-you can't. I'm dead and you know it." Naruto said nothing as he looked her over. She wouldn't even survive a stasis seal, he knew it. Her chakra was the only thing allowing her to cling to life a bit longer.
"N-no t-time. Naruto, I love you. Please,Tell Hinata I love her too. And thankyou." Haku began coughed up blood obstructing her airway. "You gave me a new life and I love you so much. This isn't your fault. Just like the Miryo mission it is-" Haku was forced to stop to cough out more blood.
Naruto could see what was happening but refused to believe she was giving him her final words. "I'll kill every last one of them, Ill kill everyone." He cried out. Kimimaro tried to close the distance and attack the dome but Naruto unleashed a devastating barrage of hundreds of chains of all sizes willing to kill anyone who approached.
"n-No, Naru-kun please. You can't fall for the path of revenge. Your life has already been so dark. 'Cough' Promise me you'll continue to open up and be you. Always find the light like you showed it to me." Haku was forced to cough out more blood before continuing.
"Rescue the kids first, for me. They shouldn't be targeted because of their blood, 'cough',. Just promise me." Naruto could see the chakra fading from her body said," I promise, i" Naruto choked on his words as Haku released a long breath and died.
Naruto screamed and pulled Haku's body in close as he hugged her dead body on the ground. There was blood everywhere and nothing about it excited Naruto. Naruto cried and screamed and clung to Haku as his chains rampaged, growing larger and more aggressive.
He could sense a particularly durably shinobi attempting to make his way to him but his chains wouldn't allow it. He willed them to toss him away. Another shinobi seemed to be able to avoid physical attacks by morphing his body so Naruto unconsciously added lighting chakra to his chains. They had no right to bother him now.
His body seemed to want nothing but destruction for him, in his grief. Naruto screamed and screamed, now staring up to the heavens, daring the gods to test him in that moment. He would never taste her cooking again, never feel her lips, never train with her.
She'd never be there to help cope with his emotions again. She'd never be there to support him and Hinata. He'd never see her smile again. The realization was crushing, he already had so few people.
As he squeezed Haku to his chest in his anguish, his eyes began absorbing chakra. And ungodly amount at an ungodly speed from nature itself. The grass and trees all around him grew brown, shriveling up and dying on the spot along with any bugs or life in the area. Everything was completely deprived of chakra.
Suigetsu, who'd been disabled by the lightning, solidified himself enough for kimamaru to grab him on his way out of the immediate area. The glow that emanated from Naruto's dojutstu grew to a blinding brightness as if they were generating the light of the sun.
The light grew brighter and brighter, engulfing the forest before it was gone. Naruto released his chains and stopped screaming, his throat feeling as if it was on fire but quickly getting better.
His eyes had changed and he knew it. He created an ice mirror in his hand, molding hyoton chakra, and his eyes had indeed changed. He no longer had a glowing blue iris surrounding his pupil. His pupil was gone and his iris seemed to be a glowing ball of energy, or chakra. It looked like the images of a blue sun. It looked Just a blue ball of revolving energies.
Almost like a super, destabilized rasengan in his eyeball. The idea made him laugh. He loses someone he loves and as a reward, his dojutsu was upgraded. The idea sickened him yet he couldn't help but laugh. He was in so much pain, he laughed.
As he looked around he was now in a clearing, a big one. He'd leveled a big part of the forest they were in. What was more, his vision was almost confusing. He saw so many kinds of chakra at such depth that it was hard to organize. Even then he could sense everything. He could sense where Haku had placed ice mirrors, he could sense the opponents
He could even sense her dead opponents and the remnant chakra of their fight. He sensed Sasuke's chidori, and other shinobi's chakra coming from Haku's body. The same Sasuke that was retreating with the two uchiha children Haku had wanted asked him to rescue, with her dying breath no less.
With him was the shinobi who'd landed the killing blows on Haku. Naruto could sense him so clearly he could tell that the shinobi had 6 arms. Naruto was in inner turmoil but in all that he found a sense of clarity. He'd rescue those kids and then kill everyone.
Although he knew it was an excuse, he'd get to kill every last one of these shinobi to protect them kids and it wouldn't be out of revenge. Naruto felt the power in his eyes. It made him laugh again. Naruto gazed back down at the Mirror in his hand, his hair was red, coated with Haku's blood because she'd been bleeding that much.
Naruto laughed again and realized that the crimson blonde had returned except this time he was painted with a loved one's blood. The pain he felt inside was so intense, he thought it would surely leave a scar. Naruto's new seigan churned as if in response. He then watched as his hair went from a blood soaked blonde, to a blood soaked crimson red. Here was his scar, he knew he'd never be blonde again.
Naruto sensed a water dragon, a barrage of some earth/lightning based shuriken, crystal, and a Shinobi with unique chakra cloaking his skeletal structure charging him.
They seemed to want to take him out quickly.
Naruto kissed Haku on the forehead one last time before sealing away her body and her sword. When his supposed demise was only a few feet away, Naruto vanished from his position in a lightning quick jolt-step.
Naruto unsealed and unsheathed furaijin feeling the usual burn since facing Miryo. Naruto didn't shy away this time but instead gripped the sword with all his strength and used his chakra to overpower the swords.
Furaijin fought for a moment but quickly conceded and the blade cooled off until it was comfortable to hold. Kimimaru had tracked Naruto's path and followed attempting to impale him with a bone sticking out of his palm.
Naruto shoved the blade right into the white haired shinobi's chest, deftly avoiding the bone, before removing it. He noticed the chakra of the man's heart seemed to have moved as if the man shifted his he couldn't stay, he had to rescue those uchiha and backup had arrived. He wasted no time, using a shunshin to head After sasuke
Shino and his team arrived in a newly formed clearing just in time to see a water dragon, crystal shuriken and a white haired shinobi attacking the same piece of air. One of those shinobi lunged in another direction where the bug user saw Naruto.
Naruto impaled the man in the chest before leaving in a shunshin, probably knowing backup had arrived, Shino thought. A few bugs came to him and confirmed that the uchiha children, Naruto and Haku had all left.
Next, Shino in a rare moment frowned when a bug informed him that the kunoichi, Haku, had died. He didn't know how Naruto, his best friend at this point, would react. He didn't think it'd be pretty though. The best shino could do was ensure no one followed.
That would allow Naruto to use Sasuke and another shinobi to vent his frustrations. Shino knew Sasuke was working with the enemy because he'd shot a group a bugs ahead at high speeds using a clan jutsu. They were there in time to see the end of the interaction though some died in Naruto's chain rampage.
. "Don't tell me Naruto did all this, tch, such a drag." Shikamaru intoned. "Mhm." Choji agreed while heavily munching on chips. "The real fighter left and all I'm left with is trash," Kimimaru said boredly but started coughing harder than Hayate on a bad day.
"The only trash here is your lungs," Kiba growled with an accompanying growl from his pup. "I think I agree with kimimaro this time. Why don't we just get this over with." Guren, the crystal user replied.
"We'll see who's trash," added Neji with his new free hyuga pride. Acting in surprise, Suigetsu appeared behind choji out of a puddle of water with an arm made into a water spear. Before he could impale the boy, Neji sent a powerful gentle fist to the shinobi's back. Suigetsu just laughed as his chest exploded in a shower of water.
Neji could see the inside of the man's body had just turned into liquid and then back as his chakra passed through and his byakugan activated eyes widened. Suigetsu aimed his waterspear arm towards Neji but was blown away with a quick heavenly spin creating a dome of rotating chakra that sent suigetsu splattering away. Neji followed.
"Alright, I'll show you whose trash. C'mon akamaru." Kiba ran towards kimimaru with his dog growling the whole way. "Choji, help him. That guy's probably the strongest here." Shino said with surprising volume.
Choji shoved a last handful of chips in his mouth before following kiba and putting the bag in his pouch for later. "So i'm guessing we're taking this one so we can get to helping out teammates," Shikamaru asked.
"At first I thought that was the most logical conclusion but we can't trust the shinobi hiding in the trees to stay out of the fight. I want you to handle him but be careful. He makes my bugs… nervous." Shino said while pointing to the other shinobi completely covered in a cloak standing in the shadow of a tree.
Shikamaru hadn't even sensed him but agreed he had to be accounted for and used his new kekkei genkai to phase into the shadows. Shino looked over at the Kunoichi with blue hair and a green kimono.
She'd been waiting for them, seemingly in amusement. "You know i guess you're pretty lucky I'll be the last thing you see." She said while weaving handseals. Whatever jutsu she was about to perform was halted when she had to dodge a downward strike from shino's tanto. The Shino who'd been organizing his team, dissipated into a cloud of bugs. "Illogical," Shino replied as he followed her with another slash of his tanto which was parried by a blade of crystal.
