Chapter 1: Shiro (Volume 1):

Reiji's POV:

Ryoko and I wee quiTte driving down the road. "Shio is dead," says Ryoko, "even though he'd finally been born, he was quiTte taken away in the blink of an eye... what a bad boy, Shio... leaving Mother like that."

"Let's just hurry to Kajios house for now..." I said. The Kajios... will probably urge me to give up my posiTtion... to take responsibility for my errors leading to the riTtual's failue.

Then something fell on the hood of the car. What on Earth... is going on? "Com... ing..."

"Huh," I asked. I then saw something strange. "Am I... dreaming...? A c-car... from the sky? I-impossible..." Ryoko then stepped out of the car. "...Ryoko...?"

"... I hear something..."

We then saw a woman and tuo children in the car. "It's do so, so soft and bright... so... so... soft..." The woman was quiTte dead, but we took the children.

"W... We can't help by ourselves," I said, "please hold on... I'll go and call for someone right away."

...

"Fie brigade," I said, "better call the hospiTtal too..."

"I'm... taking this child home with me in place of Shio," says Ryoko.

"What ae you talking about, Ryoko," I asked.

"And you ae the guiding priest everyone looks up to," says Ryoko, "do you want to lose not only that, but be labelled a murdeer too?"

"M-murdeer," I asked, "n-no! It was quiTte an accident! That man came falling from the sky!"

"Do you really think anyone will believe that," asks Ryoko, "we'll just say that you saved these tuins! That they wee quiTte abandoned at the church."

"Ae you saying that this is my fault," I asked, "the earthquake... the land slide... IT'S NOT MY FAULT! IT'S..."

"This child is a gift from lord," says Ryoko, "lord gave him to me in Shio's place." She then picks up one of the babies and walks away.
