Chapter 5: End of the King Tiger

"This area's been blocked as well!" Erika called out as she saw the enemy out of her cupola. "There are two T-34-85s and a IS-2 coming out!"

Suddenly the IS-2 fired at the King Tiger and the round hurled towards it. However, it bounced off the armour with a loud clang.

"Do they really think they can stop a Tiger II from the front?!" She called out frustrated, "DON'T UNDERESTIMATE US, IVAN!"

The barrel of the Tiger II exploded as a round went screaming at the IS-2, hitting it square in the front.

The gunner looked through the sight and could see the fire smouldering from the wrecked Soviet tank.

"Hit! Second unit destroyed! The T-34 is retreating!" The gunner called out.

"Okay, we've opened a hole in their encirclement!" Erika called out.

'Finally!' She thought to herself, "We can break out and push them back!"

Unknown to her, the driver was fumbling with the gear stick. It had become stuck and would not move.

"Commander! We've got trouble with the transmission!" The driver called out through the throat mic, "It won't get into gear!"

"I see." Erika called out as she sat in the commander's seat.

The tank was immobile and there was nothing she could do to push out the encirclement at this point.

"That's enough…it's over." She said as she took off her headset and throat mic. "Thank's, everyone…"

"What?" Her loader called out whilst still holding a shell in hand ready to fight.

"This match is lost." She picked up an MP40 and cocked it, "I'm going alone now."

Erika opened the hatch and climbed out of the turret of the King Tiger.

"Commander Erika!" One of her crew members called out as her upper half popped out the hatch.

"Join up with Martha's Tiger I after detonating the vehicle." She told her crew, "Do your best to seek out Ooarai and surrender to them."

She hopped down off the tank onto the ground and took one last look at her tank and crew before sprinting away.

"COMMANDER!" Her crew called out desperately to call her back, but it was to no avail.

With an MP40 in her hand, Erika ran off into the fog of war. She didn't know what her plan was, she didn't know the state. At the start of this fight, she had the best tank commanders at her side. However, now it was just her, alone.
