Damon was getting bored. It had been hours since he'd removed the dagger from Elijah's chest. He still hadn't shown any signs of waking up. Damon was also starting to second guess his decision to wake the original. At best, Elijah was unpredictable. One minute, Elijah could be calm, and the next he could have his hand on your throat. Actually, come to think of it, Elijah was usually calm then too. There was just no way to know how he'd respond, but Damon didn't exactly have a lot of options. The Originals were living in his house, and Elena had aligned herself with them. He had to find some way of getting rid of them and getting Elena back to how she belonged. Besides, it was too late now anyway. He'd already taken the dagger out. There was no stopping it.
Suddenly, Elijah's eyes popped open, and he abruptly sat up.
"Finally," Damon said before standing up from his chair. He then threw Elijah two pints of blood. "Drink up. Then we need to chat."
Elijah wasted no time in biting open the first bag of flood and sucking it down. He wasn't even paying much attention to who gave it to him. He was starving. Once he finished the pint, he was at least coherent enough to look at his surroundings. He was in some sort of building that looked like it was condemned, and Damon Salvatore was standing in front of him. He had to be the one to take the dagger out, though Elijah couldn't fathom why, or how he'd even gotten ahold of his body to begin with.
Elijah pulled himself out of the coffin. "Damon. I suppose I have you to thank for removing he dagger."
Damon grinned. "You're welcome."
"What is it that you want?" Elijah asked before opening up the other pint of blood. He was still hungry. He knew Damon wanted something. He hadn't removed the dagger out of the goodness of his heart.
"I want you to take care of your kin before they destroy Elena's life! They've already done a decent enough job of it as it is!" Damon snapped.
Elijah frowned and ceased drinking his blood for a moment. "What do you mean 'they'? Niklaus has woken my other siblings?"
"One of them. Rebekah. The two of them have been manipulating her. They're screwing with her mind. Klaus plans to use her for her blood. He's turning her against her family and friends, with Rebekah's help. They plan to whisk her away against her will. And God only knows what your old man will do to her," Damon said. Most of that wasn't even a lie. He'd heard Klaus tell Elena he plans to force her to leave Mystic Falls once he gets his coffins back, and they were turning her against her friends. Damon simply embellished things a little to make it sound worse.
Elijah's eyes widened with Damon's last statement. "What did you just say?"
"Oops. I forgot; you don't know that part. Mikael's back in the picture, and he's helping Klaus take advantage of Elena," Damon said.
Elijah dropped the half empty blood bank and approached Damon. He slammed him against the wall, his hand holding him there by the chest. The adolescent vampire was lying. There was no doubt about that. There was nothing in the world that would make Niklaus work with their father, and the only thing their father would do in Niklaus' presence was try to kill him. "Do you take me for a fool, Damon? My brother is capable of a lot, but there are no circumstances on this Earth that would cause him to work with our father. And my father would have no use for Elena at all. What is it that you're trying to pull?"
Damon groaned. He felt like his chest was being crushed. He tried to fight Elijah, but the Original was much more powerful than him. He supposed it was wishful thinking to believe he could keep the knowledge from Elijah that he and Elena were related. It might work out better for him to know anyway. He'd be more inclined to save her from his family. "Yeah, well, a lot happened while you were dead. It turns out that you and Elena have the same daddy.
Elijah let him go and stared at him in astonishment. "That's impossible."
Damon put his hand on this chest, the exact stop Elijah had been crushing moments earlier. "It certainly should be. I thought it was a lie at first, but Elena healed within minutes of being stabbed with no vampire blood at all, probably because her own blood acted as a healing agent."
"Elena was stabbed? How?" Elijah asked.
"She got in between your brother and the only stake that could kill him," Damon said. Obviously, he left out the part where he was the one wielding the stake. He'd just let Elijah decide for himself how it happened. He'd assume it was Mikael trying to kill Klaus.
Elijah could deduce what happened. His father had stabbed her while trying to murder Niklaus. She was lucky to be alive if that were the case.
Elijah began pacing the floor silently for a few minutes, taking in the information. If Damon was to be believed, Elena was his sister, and she was in the clutches of his father. He was wrong earlier. There was exactly one circumstance in which Niklaus would work with their father, and this was it. He'd do it if he believed it was the only way to protect one of their siblings. Of course, that was assuming this was true, and Elijah was skeptical. For one, he didn't trust Damon, and for another, one thing all vampires knew was that they could not procreate.
Elijah stopped and turned back to Damon. "What makes you believe that Mikael is Elena's father. Simply healing from a wound just means she's not human. What drew you to the conclusion that she's the child of a vampire."
"She told me. Mikael apparently told her. I didn't believe it until she healed on her own," Damon said.
"I see," Elijah said, once again going into deep thought. If this was true, Elena was in serious danger. All his siblings were with his father in the picture, but Elena was the most vulnerable. He didn't know how durable she was, but even if she was half as powerful as the rest of them, she wasn't a match for Mikael. He needed to find his siblings, Elena included, and get them out of Mystic Falls. "Has my father hurt Elena?"
"They're all hurting her! They're playing mind games with her. I've heard Klaus say how much easier it'll be to get her blood for his hybrids," Damon lied. He'd say whatever it took to get Elijah to do what was necessary. "He's just going to use her as a blood bag for the rest of her life. "Your dad has looked like he was going to hit her a couple of times too. You have to stop them. Use the dagger on your father, then get ahold of his stake and take out Klaus, for your sister's sake."
Elijah stared at Damon. He was no fool. He knew that Damon couldn't be trusted. He knew that not long after he met him. Right now, however, that was more apparent than ever. Something was off about Damon's story. At the very least, he was withholding information, if not downright lying. Elijah couldn't even be certain he was telling the truth about Elena, but even if he was, there were things about his story that didn't make sense. Elijah had no trouble believing that his father had attempted to strike Elena. That much might be true, but the rest was suspect. If Niklaus only cared about Elena for her blood, he wouldn't go to the trouble of remaining within striking distance of their father. He was too afraid of their father. He would not do that for someone he didn't care about. That was also why Elijah was inclined to believe that Elena truly was his sister. The situation had to be extreme for Niklaus and Rebekah to be willing to withstand their father, and protecting Elena would be that such a circumstance.
Rebekah was another reason that Elijah doubted Damon's story. Rebekah would never stand back while their sister was used as a living blood bag. She would at least put up a fight. Plus, Damon was far too eager for Elijah to kill Niklaus. It was as if he was trying to get it done before Elijah had a chance to even speak to Elena. That was a theory he decided to test. "I'd like to speak to Elena."
"What for? All you have to do is stop your crazy family. You can talk to her later. Right now, she's too messed up from what your family is doing to her. Just get them out of her hair," Damon said. Once Elijah spoke to Elena, it was all over. He'd find out everything and probably side with his crazy family. He needed Elijah to end this without talking to her.
Elijah was not surprised by Damon's reaction. He was testing him, and the young vampire acted as he expected. Damon was lying, at least about some of it. He was playing on Elijah's protectiveness for his younger siblings. Elijah didn't understand how he could think he was that stupid though. Did he truly believe he would make any move without being certain that he knew all the facts? That was rather insulting. Well, Damon was that stupid, so perhaps he thought everyone else was as imbecilic as he was. The boy was right about one thing at least. He was very protective of his siblings, and if Elena was his sister, he would protect her with everything he had, and that meant from Damon too. "Do you know where they are?"
"Yeah, they're at my place. I can get you inside. I just need a few hours to handle something," Damon said. He had to get Elena out of there. He was sure he and Stefan could overpower her long enough for Elijah to do what he needed to.
"Thank you for your assistance," Elijah said before swiftly bringing both hands up to Damon's head and snapping his neck. He then let him drop to the ground. "But it is no longer required." He then stepped over the elder Salvatore's unconscious body. He needed to find his siblings and find out just what was going on.
