This story takes place after Luffy defeats Enel in Skypiea.

Luffy lands on top of a small cloud, the same one where he leaves Nami to finish the fight with the self proclaimed sky god. Covered in bruises and scratches, he feels comfort in the soft landing and takes a deep sigh of relief. He breaks out in the widest grin and laughs, which is a reward for Nami; to see her captain so content fills her mind with joy as well.

Nami can't help but to stare warmly at him. 'Skypiea is real!' she thought to herself, but a part of her still couldn't believe it. To be thousands of meters in the air with her favorite people, one could think they descended to heaven. The most important thing to her right now is to enjoy this victory alongside her captain. She opens her mouth to speak, but she can only get a breath out before she gets cut off.

"You don't have to say a thing, I already know what you are thinking." Luffy turns his head towards her with a grin. " Did you see how cool I looked, slamming Earlobes against the bell like that? Of course you can't help but to be in awe!"

Nami rolls her eyes at his sudden boasting but laughs.

"That's not even close to what I was thinking! You can be so stupid sometimes, you know that?"

"Shishishi!"

Nami scoots closer towards Luffy and looks him directly in the eyes.

"If it weren't for you Luffy, I wouldn't be here today."

Luffy stares at her, confused.

"Luffy, I… am extremely grateful for you. You saved my life back at my village, and I've never felt more free. You showed me what it feels like to be your own individual, to not have to be scared of messing up. Now we're in the grand line! But not just in the grand line, we're in the sky! Do you have any idea of how many people are able to say something like that? It's only because of you that I feel this way. Alongside all of you guys, I could not be any more happier."

Luffy can only stare blankly at her for a few seconds before responding.

"But Nami don't you see? I wouldn't have been here today if it wasn't for YOU! You're the best navigator in the world, no one can compete with you! If you weren't here, I wouldn't have made it out of east blue, shishishi!"

Nami can't help but to blush at his compliment, but decides to take it anyway. Besides, who wouldn't talk up such a lovely lady like her?

"I made a promise to never make you sad, and I am going to keep that promise for as long as I can! When I'm king of the pirates, you'll always be happy, as long as you're with us!"

"Of course I'm going to stay with you and everyone else! The pirate king should only be accompanied by the best navigator, right? And who did you make such a lame promise like that with anyways? That sounds like something you promise to someone when you want to marry them, like in a cheesy romance novel!" Nami can't help but burst out laughing.

Luffy had never thought about something like marriage before. It didn't sound like something that would make him feel like he wasn't trapped. But if it was with Nami, he didn't think he would mind. She was going to be with him until he became the pirate king anyways. The best should be with the best. Why was he thinking about stuff like this anyways? Because it would be with Nami? If someone else said this to him, would he have thought the same thing?

"Is something wrong?" Nami questions. She noticed him becoming visibly… angry? No, it doesn't look like anger, but he is definitely thinking hard about something.

Luffy quickly covers his face with his worn out straw hat.

"...I'm just going to rest here for a bit." he mutters.

Nami, still being confused about his reaction, does not respond and lets him be.

She begins to think about all the adventures they had together until this point. Nami feels herself getting emotional, not in a bad way, but in a way that makes her wish this moment would never end.

She's just glad to spend her days with a captain like him.

THE END.
