Stanley Pines was overwhelmed by a profound sense of guilt. His eyes were filled with shock and hurt as he stood before the flickering portal. His shoulder throbbed with pain, but Stanley was oblivious to it in the wake of what had just transpired. He had rushed to his brother's side, but their encounter had escalated into a bitter altercation. In chaos, Stanley inadvertently propelled his brother into the active portal. A steely determination took hold of him as he knelt on the ground, clutching his brother's journal and glasses. Stanley vowed to find a way to reactivate the portal and bring his brother back. However, exhaustion washed over him, and he realized he only possessed the first journal. With a sinking feeling, he wondered how many journals his brother had created and how he would locate them.
Heaving a weary sigh, Stanley emerged from the dimly lit basement, seeking solace in solitude. However, his solitude was short-lived as the sound of distress echoed through the front room, prompting him to investigate. Upon ascending the creaky stairs to the attic, he was greeted by the sight of two cribs, one adorned in pink and the other in blue, signaling the presence of infants. Faced with this unexpected situation, Stanley, unaccustomed to the company of children, gently lifted the whimpering toddlers from their cribs. As their cries subsided and their eyes met his, a profound sense of recognition seemed to emanate from their gaze, perhaps owing to his striking resemblance to his identical twin brother.
The babies' whimpers filled the air, gradually growing into soft cries that tugged at Stanley's heart. As he carefully inspected their diapers, he found that they were dry. A small wave of relief washed over him, knowing that the babies were at least comfortable.
He realized it had been a while since their last feeding. With a nurturing instinct, Stanley gently lifted the infants and placed them in the playpen before going to the kitchen. Opening the refrigerator, he was relieved to find two prepared bottles awaiting him.
Returning to the front room, Stanley scooped up the cooing babies, ensuring each was securely cradled in his arms. As he settled into the rocking chair, he began to feed them simultaneously, marveling at how their little eyes followed his every move. Despite his surprise at his brother's transition to fatherhood, he cherished these bonding moments with his niece and nephew.
After the babies finished their bottles, Stanley carefully cradled each one in his arms, gently patting their backs until he felt the reassuring little burps. He returned them to their room with practiced ease and placed them into their cozy cribs. As they nestled into the soft blankets, their tiny eyelids drooped and soon drifted into a peaceful slumber.
Stanley lingered in the quiet attic, his gaze sweeping the room in search of any sign of his precious nephew and niece. He scanned the walls and furniture, hoping to find their names lovingly displayed somewhere, but his search proved fruitless.
Stanley emerged from the dimly lit attic and went down the creaky hallway to his brother's room. As he entered, his eyes wandered around the cluttered space until they landed on a pile of papers peeking out from a half-open desk drawer. With a sense of curiosity, he settled into the worn chair and carefully pulled out the papers. To his surprise, they were detailed accounts of his beloved nephew and niece.

Stanley stood there in disbelief, feeling a rush of conflicting emotions. His eyes welled up with tears as he processed the unexpected news. His brother had named his own son after Stanley. A surge of questions and doubts flooded his mind. Was this a cruel joke or a genuine gesture of reconciliation? For years, Stanley had believed that his brother resented him for the missed opportunity to attend West Coast Tech, an incident in which Stanley had played a significant role. But now, as he struggled to comprehend the implications of this unexpected honor, he began questioning everything Stanley thought he knew about their strained relationship.
His niece, named after his mother, was a ray of hope. He fervently wished that Caryn would chart her own path in life, distancing herself from the difficulties her grandmother faced.
Stanley noticed that his brother appeared to be finally getting his life back on track, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of melancholy as he glanced at the birth certificates. Curiously, the birth certificates did not list the children's mother, leaving Stanley puzzled. As he continued sifting through the papers, he came across legal documents indicating that the mother of his niece and nephew had granted his brother sole custody of Caryn and Stanley Pines. This revelation prompted Stanley to reflect on the situation and even consider giving the kids nicknames. It was a strange and poignant moment for Stanley as he thought about his and his mother's names concerning the children.
Stanley's thoughts wandered to his parents, particularly his mother. He found himself pondering whether his parents were aware of the existence of his brother's twins, and he even questioned whether they could truly be considered twins if they were born on different days. Despite feeling the urge to call his mother and discuss the matter, Stanley ultimately decided against it for the time being.
Stanley leaned forward on the desk, his hands covering his face as his mind raced with worry and guilt. He couldn't fathom what to do next. His brother had vanished from the portal he had painstakingly crafted, all because of Stanley Pines' actions.
Stanley was unable to stop the tears from flowing down his cheeks. It felt as though everything he came into contact with ended up breaking. He couldn't help but wonder if his father had been right about his inadequacies. Despite these doubts, Stanley refused to give in. Slamming his palms on the desk, he shook his head and stood up determinedly. He was unwilling to accept defeat so easily. He was resolved to make something of himself, even if it meant assuming his brother's identity and faking his own death. Stanley was prepared to step into his brother's shoes, raise his children, and endeavor to reactivate the portal. Nothing was going to stand in Stanley Pines' way now.
