Disclaimer: I don't own Once Upon a Time or the Characters.

I'm replacing Henry's name with a different name and he will have a twin sister.

Summary: What if Henry Mills wasn't adopted by Regina Mills?

What if Henry had a twin sister?

What if Henry and his sister were adopted by Mr. Gold?

What if Henry's name was Cymbeline Gold instead of Henry Mills?

Ten-year-old Cymbeline and Bedelia Gold didn't know they were adopted until their teacher, Ms. Blanchard, gave them a story known as Once Upon a Time. Well, Bedelia wasn't convinced like Cymbeline, however, that didn't stop him from skipping school and searching for their birth mother. Cymbeline came back with a blonde-haired woman known as Emma Swan.

|| Ten Years Ago ||

A woman - who was eighteen - gave birth to twins in jail. She didn't know she was pregnant until she was in jail for a crime she was framed for. She knew at the time she couldn't raise her children like she wanted. In her mind, the only opinion she had was putting her twin children up for adoption. When her children were born, she decided at the moment she didn't want to hold her infants.

"Are you sure you don't want to hold them?" asked the doctor.

Without glancing at the doctor, she nodded quickly. She knew if she held her children, she would give in and keep them. She knew she cannot give her children the best. The only time she glanced at the doctor was when the CPS worker came in and took the children. She had tears in her eyes, knowing she will regret this decision, but in her mind and heart (at the moment), this was the best decision for her newborn children.

He couldn't. A part of him couldn't give the children - twins - to his Mayor. He agreed to help her adopt the twins, but he changed his mind right when he held the infants in his arms. He felt a connection with the infants, however, he doesn't know why he feels like this. He decided to tell the CPS worker that he was going to adopt the children instead of his Mayor, which was a good thing he didn't mention the Mayor of his town. Those infants were going to be his children, not the Mayor's children.

Once he returned hometown, the Mayor wasn't too pleased with the man since he decided to raise the children as if they were his biological children. He didn't care since he never got along with the Mayor anyway. He ignored the Mayor and headed home with his adopted children. At this point, he was a papa to twin children that were three weeks old.

He sat down on the chair, glancing down at the children, who were sleeping, sounding against his chest. A real smile formed on his face when he gently said, "Papa already loves you, Bedelia and Cymbeline."

|| Ten Years Later ||

Ten years. It's been ten years since Mr. Gold adopted twin children known as Cymbeline (his son) and Bedelia (his daughter) Gold. Mr. Gold was known as a dangerous man, but his children showed them a side no one sees. And Mr. Gold wants it to stay that way. Since he was the father of Cymbeline and Bedelia (who were fraternal twins), most children were not their friends, which upsets his children. Mr. Gold could pay the children's parents to have their children be friends with Cymbeline and Bedelia, but Mr. Gold had a feeling he might feel guilty about that. He does love his children, even though others would not agree - especially Mayor Mills. He doesn't listen to a word anyone says about his feelings for his children. Yes, they are adopted, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love his children. Mr. Gold would do anything for his children.

Mr. Gold was home, waiting for his children to return home from school. His eyes drifted towards the photos of growing children with a fond smile on his face. However, his smile faded a bit when he glanced at one photo. It was a photo of Cymbeline with his storybook known as Once Upon a Time. He wasn't sure how he got the book or why his son believed everyone was in the storybook. He believed his teacher - Ms. Blanchard - was Snow White and that the Mayor - Regina Mills - was the Evil Queen. Mr. Gold didn't believe him of course. Why should he?

His daughter, on the other hand, only believes the book was a story tale. And that was a good thing. She was more into logic and facts than fantasy and fairy tales.

Mr. Gold wasn't sure where Cymbeline gets his creative side, however, a part of him didn't want his son to lose that side of him.

"Papa!"

Mr. Gold was kicked out of his thoughts when he saw his daughter rushing towards him with a concerned look on her face.

"What's wrong, Bedelia?!" Mr. Gold questioned her with concern in his voice.

"Cy! He wasn't in school, papa! And I don't know where he went!" she said in a panic, "He told me he was going to use the washroom, but he never returned to class!"

Panic filled up in Mr. Gold when Bedelia told him that.

"Did he say anything about where he was going?" asked Mr. Gold, placing his hands on his daughter's shoulders.

Bedelia shook her head, "No. Before class, he told me he was using the washroom and he was going to meet me in class. But he never came. I had to lie to Ms. Blanchard about where Cy was, papa. I told her that he was home sick. And I know how you feel about lying. I'm sorry for lying to Ms. Blanchard."

Lying wasn't on Mr. Gold's mind, and he had to let his daughter know that.

"Lia, I'm not worried about you lying," said Mr. Gold, "I'm pleased you know you shouldn't have lied to Ms. Blanchard. However, I'm more concerned about your brother. I need you to stay home while I go and fetch Graham."

"But…"

"No buts, young lady," Mr. Gold strictly said, "You will stay home. I will not lose you either. Start on your homework while I search for your brother."

Bedelia hesitate before she agreed. Mr. Gold eyed his daughter when she left the lounge room before he decided to go to the police station. He knew his daughter was going to listen… well, hopefully, she listens. Both of his children usually listen to him, but today was different. It seems like Cymbeline didn't go to school like he was supposed to. If he wasn't in school all day, then where was he?

|| That Night ||

Mr. Gold was pacing back and forth in the lounge room of his home. Graham, the sheriff of Storybrooke, was in Mr. Gold's home. Bedelia was sitting on the couch with her eyes on her papa.

"Mr. Gold, I'm only one guy. And I promise to find your son for you."

Mr. Gold glared at the sheriff, "Do not promise things you cannot keep."

Graham opened his mouth, however, he was cut off by Bedelia shouting, "Papa! There is a yellow car pulling up in the driveway!"

Mr. Gold raced - well more limping - outside to see who it was. That's when he saw Cymbeline climbing out of the car.

"Cymbeline! Cymbeline… Are you okay? Where have you been? What happened?" Mr. Gold questioned his son.

"Cymbeline?"

Mr. Gold glanced up, noticing a blonde-haired woman standing behind his son. He narrowed his eyes before they widened in shock. He had a feeling who this woman was, but why was she here? Why did his son get her?

"I found Lia's and my real mom," replied Cymbeline before racing into the house.

Mr. Gold was right. This woman was his children's birth mother, who put them up for adoption. But what he didn't know was why she was there. He didn't like that Cymbeline's birth mother was here, but he was pleased that she returned his son to him.

"Well," said Graham, having Mr. Gold glared at him, "Your son is safe. I will return to the station."

Mr. Gold glared after him before his eyes drifted toward the blonde-haired woman.

"Thank you for being my son home," said Mr. Gold, "I don't know what Cymbeline was thinking when he ran off to see you, Miss…"

"Swan. Emma Swan."

That's when reality hit Mr. Gold in the face. He remembered everything. For twenty-eight years, it's been the same old day for the folks of Storybrooke, not knowing the truth. Mr. Gold remembered he was Rumpelstiltskin, and the woman in front of him was the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, who was the savior. And the savior was the birth mother of his adopted children.

"Would you like to come inside, Miss. Swan?"

"Sure," Emma Swan shrugged, "Plus, I don't mind having a drink."

Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin nodded, turning around to lead Emma into his home. A part of him didn't want this woman near his children, however, he cannot be rude since she did bring his son home after being missing for the whole day. And yes, Cymbeline was in trouble for what he had done.

He led Emma to the lounge room before leaving to get a tray with two cups and a teapot. He returned to see Badelia standing off to the side while Cyumbeline was sitting next to Emma. Mr. Gold placed the tray on the coffee table before sitting down on the chair.

"Cy. Lia. I would like to speak with Miss. Swan in privacy," said Mr. Gold before his eyes landed on his son, "Cyumbeline, you are ground until I say otherwise. Your sister was nice enough to get your homework for today. Go upstairs and do the homework. Badelia, please finish your chores before you start reading."

Cymbeline didn't want to leave, but the look his dad was giving him forced the ten-year-old boy out of the lounge room. His sister followed, not saying a word to Emma Swan. Mr. Gold turned to Emma, who was sipping her tea. Her eyes drifted towards him.

"How did he find me?"

"I have no idea how he found you, Miss. Swan," Mr. Gold replied truthfully, stirring the sugar in his tea, "When I adopted Cy and Lia, they were only three weeks old. Records were sealed. I was told the birth mother didn't want to have any contact."

"You were told right," Emma said truthfully, nodding her head and placing the cup on the tray.

"And the birth father?" Mr. Gold asked seriously, not stopping himself from asking about his children's birth father.

Jealousy wasn't an emotion Mr. Gold felt. However, he knew he was feeling that way when he mentioned the birth father of his children. Mr. Gold believes his children might want to know more about the man that Emma was with. And the thought brought pain to his heart. He hated this feeling.

"There is one."

"Do I need to be worried about him?" Mr. Gold questioned with no emotions in his voice.

"Nope," replied Emma, shaking her head, "He doesn't even know."

That answer took Mr. Gold back, "What do you mean he doesn't even know?"

Emma glanced at the doorway before her eyes drifted back to Mr. Gold, "When I found out that I was pregnant, I didn't have a way to tell him. Plus, he abandoned me before I found out I was pregnant. So, no, you don't have to be worried about their birth father."

Mr. Gold winced, thinking about his ex-dead-wife when she abandoned him with their son - Baelfire. But he felt like his solution with his ex-dead-wife was different from Emma and her solution with Cymbeline's and Badelia's birth father. Mr. Gold wanted to learn more about the biological father of his children, but at the same time, he didn't want to.

Mr. Gold drifted towards Emma when she stood up, "I think it's best for me to return home."

Mr. Gold stood, leading her to the front door, "Miss. Swan, it's late out. Why don't you stay the night here? I have a guest bedroom for you to use. I think it's fair since you drove from your home to return my son."

Emma turned towards Mr. Gold and was going to deny his offer, but she was cut off by Cymbeline's voice, "Yes! Emma, you should stay! And then you can break the curse!"

Mr. Gold was thinking the same thing, but he wasn't going to say that out loud of course. His eyes drifted towards his son, who jumped down from the stairs. Badelia was standing on the steps with her eyes on Emma. Mr. Gold wasn't sure what his daughter was thinking, but the look on her face, he believe Badelia didn't want Emma here.

"I have a life back in Boston, kid," said Emma, having Mr. Gold glance at her.

"Maybe you can return in the morning," said Mr. Gold, giving her a real tiny smile, "Please stay for the night. As I said before, it's late out. You must be really tired, Miss. Swan."

Mr. Gold watched as Emma glanced down at Cymbeline, and he knew she didn't want to stay. But with the look on her face, he knew she wanted to know how Cymbeline and Badelia were raised. He was fine with that, but Mr. Gold wanted Emma to know that he was their papa now since she did give her rights up.

Emma nodded, "Okay. I will stay for one night. Then I will leave tomorrow. If that's fine with you, Mr. Gold."

"More than fine, Miss. Swan," smiled Mr. Gold, "Please, let me show you the guest room. Oh, Cym and Lia, get ready for bed. You two have school in the morning."

With that everyone retreated to their rooms for the night. Mr. Gold, in his own room, kept his smile on his face. He knew the curse was going to be broken, but the question was; How was he going to keep Emma Swan in town?
