NAMI
It's been one month. 30 days. For about a week now, Nami has gotten comfortable with going out by herself. Of course she has the obligations of work and college, and she is forever grateful to not have chosen the same school as him in the case that something like this happened. But today, she decided to take herself out for a little treat; she just aced a big exam in geography and came to her favorite ice cream place, which happens to be the only spot in town that serves tangerine flavored ice cream. After ordering, she takes a seat in her favorite corner and happily eats a spoonful of the sweet treat. She plugs in her earbuds and enjoys the music while enjoying the cool breeze of fall. As Nami begins to scoop up her fifth spoonful of the orange delight, she hears a familiar laugh, one that's loud enough to blast through the already loud music in her ears. She takes off one earbud and her eyes begin to widen with fear. The harmonious laugh can be heard again but this time it's closer to her. Nami whips her head to the right, hoping it would just be someone else. She was wrong. The tall beauty with silky black hair was standing right there, laughing so hard that it almost sounded forced.
"You're always so silly Luffy, there's just no way!" Hancock covers her mouth with one hand and with the other she has it wrapped around none other than Luffy's arm.
Nami's ex boyfriend.
"Oh hey Nami I didn't see you there! How are you, it's been like what, a month? Wow, look at how different you look! Did you cut your hair? Oh, I'm pretty sure you did. Anyway, I'm just here with my boyfriend Luffy! We've actually been dating for about a month now! Isn't that right, love?"
Right. Of course they've been together for that long. It only makes sense because Nami found out one month ago that the man she trusted so much betrayed her. Nami's eyes began to fill with tears and she quickly looked away, not saying a word to either of them. She just wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
Luffy just stood there but Nami paid no attention to him. She was just trying really hard not to cry in front of him.
"What's wrong? You really aren't going to say anything to your friend? I'm just trying to be nice!" Hancock laughed.
"...me…."
"What? Speak up girl! Don't be shy!"
"I said leave me the fuck alone!" Nami screams at her, tears already rolling down her face. She shoves herself in between Hancock and Luffy and runs out of the store. People were looking at her but she didn't care. She couldn't care. She was too stressed out and felt that if she stayed one more second there she was going to suffocate.
Nami can't help but be heartbroken.
'Why? Why? Why am I still feeling like this? I'm supposed to hate him, so why did I want to kiss him right there? I wanted to steal him back but he clearly wants Hancock more. She's much more beautiful than me, how could I compete? I don't think I could go back there again. Why did I have to run into them?'
Nami runs to the only place where she could calm down.
"Nami? Why are you here? What happened?" Nami's best friend Vivi lets her inside her home, but Nami doesn't respond to her. Instead, she runs straight to Vivi's room and plops her head on her oversized pillows.
"Nami wait! What's gotten into you?" Vivi shouts as she runs up the stairs to catch up to Nami.
"I saw him! I saw him with that girl, the one he cheated on me with! They're still together and I'm all alone and I thought I was doing better but I'm not and I just wish that-"
"You don't need to say anything else. It's going to be okay." Vivi holds her dear friend in an embrace and lets Nami cry her eyes out on her shoulder.
"Now, what exactly happened?" begins Vivi, now that Nami has finally managed to calm down.
"I was just sitting there trying to eat my ice cream and out of nowhere Hancock shows up with Luffy and she's all over him while pretending like we were friends. It was obvious that she was just trying to make me jealous but it really hurt me." Nami wipes the last of her tears with a tissue that Vivi gave her. "She is such a bitch, as if I even cared about them!"
"Well… you did burst into my home crying like you just witnessed a murder… but hey! You were going to see him sooner or later! It's better that you saw him now, so it would be easier to get over him. Or don't tell me you still want him…"
"What do you think?" Nami rolls her eyes. "I'm such a mess. How could I still have feelings for someone who did me so wrong?"
"The two of you were dating for a while so it's normal for you to still feel this way. Just know that no matter what, I'll always choose to be by your side." Vivi smiles at Nami warmly and brushes Nami's hair behind her ear. "You'll always have me as a friend, Nami"
Nami smiles back, relieved that she has at least one person who won't betray her.
LUFFY
Nami runs out of the ice cream shop, which hurts Luffy.
"Nami…" he mutters, much to Hancock's annoyance.
"Are you seriously still thinking of her? What about me? You're with me so you shouldn't be thinking about anyone else, especially that bitch of an ex!"
"Shut up! Don't talk about Nami like that, and if it wasn't for what you did i wouldn't even be with you…"
"Honestly! That's old so get over it, it's not like you can change anything about it either." Hancock smiles at him "Now let's get some ice cream!"
It's been one month. 30 days. Luffy feels regret and anger almost every day that he is with Hancock. Some days he can tolerate her and even have some fun. They were once good friends after all. He was afraid that one day he would actually fall for Hancock but a big part of him really doubts it. He really loves Nami, but can never forgive himself for the events that lead to their breakup. Once they began ordering, memories of that night flooded inside Luffy's mind. One month ago, Luffy and Nami were at a party thrown by Luffy's friend Bon. Things were beginning to be a little strained ever since Hancock confessed her feelings to Luffy…right in front of Nami just a few weeks before. Luffy rejected her, but she kept bothering him and for some reason he couldn't shove her away. Nami insisted that he stop being friends with Hancock, but he felt that maybe Hancock's feelings would fade away after some time and they could all be friends again. Nami never liked this naive side of him, but she didn't pester him about it anymore. She trusted him. At this party, things took a turn for the worst when Luffy was nowhere to be found. He had lost Nami but received a text that she would be waiting for him inside a guest room.
Luffy excitedly looks for the guest room and finds that all the lights in said room are turned off. He tries to turn them on, but a gentle hand stops him from doing so. Luffy grabs the arm that stopped him and trails his fingers all the way up to her shoulder, and her hair.
"Nami… you're always so mischievous." Luffy smirks and leans in towards Nami, but Nami was quicker and she crushed her lips against his in a passionate kiss. They had been a bit distant since their argument a few weeks ago, so he thought they were finally getting closer again.
"You smell different.. Did you change your perfume? This one smells strong."
No response from Nami. Instead she pulls him back to her again and they fall onto the bed where they continue to make out.
'Something doesn't feel right' Luffy thinks to himself. His suspicions grew heavier by the second.
"Hey, let me turn on the lights." He begins to get up but once again Nami holds his torso to prevent him from turning on the lights.
"What's going on? I just want to see your face, Nami."
No response.
All of a sudden he hears a voice right outside the bedroom door. His heart drops and he feels like he could pass out.
"Wait…" he mutters.
"I already told you guys to leave me alone, what's your deal?" The door swings open and the lights turn on, blinding Luffy for a second. A loud gasp can be heard, and Luffy instantly recognizes the person standing at the door.
It was Nami.
With a look of complete horror, Luffy looks below him to see none other than Hancock, looking up at him with complete lust, and with one swift move, she grabs Luffy by the collar and pulls him towards her, kissing him.
Luffy shoves himself off of her and begins trying to form a sentence, an excuse, anything to make Nami believe him.
"What? What? Huh? Nami please. Nami. I didn't know…"
He couldn't even look at his girlfriend. He felt petrified but he had no right to feel that way. Nami stood there frozen but it was hard to tell how she was feeling. She couldn't say anything either. Hancock's sisters are standing right behind her, laughing at the spectacle.
Nami runs away and without a second thought, Luffy chases after her. Pushing his way through the packed house, he finally makes his way outside the party and spots Nami walking down the sidewalk.
"Nami!" he shouts loud enough for her to hear. "Please listen to what I have to say! I promise I didn't want this to happen. I-"
"You what, Luffy? I told you to stop being friends with her! I should've known from the start that you returned the same feelings!" Nami screams back at him. "I never want to see you again!"
Nami darts off, and Luffy chases after her again, only this time in his imagination. In reality, his feet were glued to the concrete and if he moved, his entire body would shatter into a million pieces.
'It's all my fault.'
"There you are baby! Don't you want to continue this now that that girl is out of the way?" Hancock appears behind him, tapping him on the shoulder. "You know you enjoyed it."
"GET AWAY FROM ME!" Luffy jumps forwards and smacks her hand away. "It's all because of you that I lost someone that I truly love! Why can't you just leave me alone? I already told you I don't have feelings for you!"
"You didn't have to say it with your words, but your actions made up for it. Besides, it doesn't matter if she forgives you or not, you still made out with me."
"Just what the fuck is wrong with you Hancock? You're okay with ruining other peoples relationships? You're-"
"Honey, it was you who ruined the relationship when you decided to keep me as a friend! I didn't do anything but entertain you back."
He hated to admit it, but Hancock was right. He should've dropped her the second she confessed. It was all his fault.
"If you want to leave and forget this ever happened then you can. But I would think twice about it if I were you."
"Just what are you getting at?"
Hancock whips out a cell phone and throws it at him. "You dropped this earlier. But you should really change your password; having someone's birthday is too easy to figure out."
"What did you do?" Luffy asks angrily.
Hancock then takes out her own phone and goes to the camera roll. Much to Luffy's horror, a picture of Nami in lingerie had been saved onto Hancock's camera roll.
"If you leave me, then this is going to be plastered all over the internet. A normal person would think that this is someone's ex trying to get revenge on them. What do you think?"
"This is just illegal. You wouldn't dare. Even you wouldn't stoop that low."
"Oh but I would. It's on your phone after all, and why would I have an intimate photo of a girl I'm not dating? So, what do you think?"
"..."
Luffy snaps back to reality when Hancock begins to raise her voice at him. He had hardly touched his ice cream, while Hancock didn't leave a single drop on her cup. He couldn't believe he was distracted for so long.
"...llo? Hello! Luffy! What are you even thinking about? Anyway, I'm going to the bathroom to fix my makeup so take care of my bag." She takes out her makeup pouch from her purse and leaves.
'Why didn't she just take her purse with her, she never leaves me with it.' Luffy wonders.
Suddenly the left corner of Hancock's purse lights up. It's her phone! Without a second thought, Luffy reaches for it. His only goal is to delete the picture she has of Nami, and then he won't be afraid of her being exposed anymore. He tries a combination of passwords, but none of them work. There was only one attempt left before it got locked for five minutes, so he decided to type in his birthday, hoping that it would work.
To his surprise and disgust, it did.
He immediately went to the camera roll and scrolled until he saw the picture and deleted it, then went to the Recently Deleted tab and deleted it from there. He sighed with relief, knowing that it was finally over. Now he could go and apologize to Nami, with only a small hope of forgiveness. He ran out of the ice cream shop and headed straight for Vivi's house. Nami had blocked him everywhere so he would have to explain the entire thing to Vivi.
Unfortunately, the situation with Hancock didn't end in the way he wanted it to.
NAMI
Finally at her own home after getting comforted by her friend, she was alone in her bedroom. She couldn't help but to think about that night. How she sent a flirty text to her then boyfriend, how Hancock's older twin sisters suddenly started bothering her, which prevented her from meeting up with Luffy on time. And how she saw Luffy on top of her when she opened the door. It all hurt so much. She wished she could forget it all.
'I miss him so much. If he came and asked for me again I would go back without a second thought. He always knew how to pull me back in, like an ocean wave. But I can't allow myself to dive back in. He still cheated. How could he have not known that it wasn't me? Maybe part of him knew and he enjoyed the thrill. Ugh, I can't keep thinking of this.'
She set an alarm on her clock for 9:00AM tomorrow. She could have done it on her phone, but she's had it on Do Not Disturb since she left Vivi's house because she wanted to be left alone. The last thing on her mind would be a text or call from anyone. She closed her eyes and tried going to sleep; she had to wake up early for class. She just hoped tomorrow would be a good day.
Thank you for reading. I have already thought of the ending, I just need to type it up. This story shouldn't be longer than three chapters, but I feel like I should be able to complete it in two chapters. Stay tuned for the next update :)
