As Godzilla strode past the Evangelions, his colossal form dwarfed them, casting a massive shadow over the mechs. Unit-02, piloted by the ever-arrogant Asuka Langley Soryu, stood still for a moment, but her pride wouldn't let her simply watch. The fact that Godzilla had defeated the Angel so effortlessly gnawed at her. The Evas were supposed to be humanity's greatest weapon, and yet this creature had ignored them completely, treating them like insignificant bystanders.
"Are we really going to just stand here and let this overgrown lizard show us up?" Asuka growled over the comms. "I'm not gonna let him walk all over us!"
"Asuka, no!" Misato's voice cracked through the radio. "Do not engage Godzilla!"
But it was too late. Asuka was already moving. Unit-02 launched forward, its progressive knife in hand, ready to strike at Godzilla's massive tail as he walked away. Her confidence blinded her to the sheer scale of what she was about to do.
"This beast thinks he can ignore us?!" Asuka shouted, her eyes burning with defiance. "I'll show him what the mighty Evangelions can do!"
Unit-02 lunged, knife poised to plunge into Godzilla's thick hide. But before she could land the blow, Godzilla, without even turning to look, reacted instinctively. His tail, massive and brimming with muscle, swung in a wide arc. The air seemed to rumble as the appendage moved with terrifying speed.
"Look out!" Shinji yelled from Unit-01, but it was too late.
The tail struck Unit-02 with such force that the Evangelion was sent flying across the city like a toy, crashing through several buildings before tumbling to a stop. The entire ground shook with the impact, debris scattering everywhere. Inside the entry plug, Asuka grunted in pain as her head slammed against the restraints. Alarms blared inside the cockpit as Unit-02 struggled to regain power.
"Asuka!" Misato screamed into the comms. "Asuka, are you alright?!"
Asuka groaned, coughing slightly as the feedback of the Evangelion's pain overwhelmed her. "I'm... I'm fine!" she spat, though the fury in her voice was clear. "That… that damn monster!"
Godzilla continued to walk away, completely indifferent to the Evangelions, as if Asuka's attack hadn't even registered. To him, they were mere annoyances, not worth his time or attention.
Inside NERV headquarters, Ritsuko crossed her arms, watching the monitors. "I warned you all," she muttered. "Godzilla doesn't see us as a threat. We're not even on his radar."
"That was reckless," Fuyutsuki added grimly, shaking his head. "She's lucky he didn't take her out completely."
Gendo remained silent, his fingers steepled as he watched the scene unfold. His glasses glinted in the dim light of the command room. Godzilla was everything he had expected: unstoppable, ancient, and terrifying in his disregard for anything in his path. Yet, there was a certain reassurance in seeing such a powerful force exist. If humanity could control or manipulate Godzilla, perhaps there was still hope for the grand plan.
Back on the battlefield, Unit-02 struggled to its feet, sparks flying from its damaged armor. Asuka bit her lip in frustration, watching Godzilla disappear into the distance.
"He didn't even care," she whispered, anger mixing with disbelief.
"Asuka, stand down," Misato ordered. "You're not fighting him. We're lucky he didn't tear Unit-02 apart. Let him go."
With a final glance toward Godzilla's retreating form, Asuka growled and finally relented. "Fine," she muttered, her pride wounded but her spirit unbroken.
Godzilla had shown his power, and in that moment, both the Evangelion pilots and NERV understood the reality of the situation. The King of the Monsters had no interest in their petty struggles. He was beyond them. A god walking among mortals. And as long as humanity didn't stand in his way, they would be left to witness his reign from afar—if they were lucky.
