Two weeks later, Tokyo-3 faced another existential threat. This time, it was Ramiel, the fifth Angel—a massive, floating octahedron of impenetrable energy. Its geometric form hovered menacingly above the city, emitting a blinding, piercing blue light. Every time the Evangelions tried to attack, Ramiel's powerful particle beam lashed out with deadly accuracy, forcing the Evas to retreat and recalibrate their strategy.
Shinji, Asuka, and Rei had all taken positions, but each attempt to breach Ramiel's seemingly invincible AT Field ended in failure. Ramiel was unlike any Angel they had faced before. Its destructive energy beams blasted through buildings, vaporizing anything that came too close, and its defense seemed absolute. Every moment the Evas remained on the battlefield felt like a dance on the edge of disaster.
"This is impossible!" Asuka growled over the comms, her frustration boiling over as Unit-02 narrowly dodged another beam. "We can't get anywhere near it!"
"Keep your distance!" Misato barked from the command center, her voice strained with the pressure of the situation. "We need a new plan. Direct attacks aren't working."
Shinji, in Unit-01, gritted his teeth, gripping the controls tightly as he scanned for any possible opening. But Ramiel's AT Field was too strong, and its counterattacks were relentless.
Inside NERV, the tension was palpable. Ritsuko, analyzing the data on Ramiel's AT Field, shook her head. "There's no way to breach that field directly without an overwhelming force. We need more time."
But time wasn't something they had. Ramiel was already charging another energy blast, and if it fired again, the city would suffer catastrophic damage.
That was when the ground began to tremble—another force approaching the battlefield.
"Godzilla…" Makoto Hyûga muttered as the monitors lit up with seismic readings. "He's coming."
As the Evangelions regrouped, the sea began to churn once again. A massive form emerged from the water, towering over the ocean as it made its way toward the battlefield. Godzilla, the ancient king, had arrived. His footsteps sent tremors through the ground as he lumbered onto land, his eyes locked onto Ramiel's gleaming form in the sky.
Without hesitation, Godzilla unleashed his atomic breath, the blue beam cutting through the air with incredible force. The concentrated energy hurtled toward Ramiel, aiming to shatter the Angel's defenses.
But Ramiel's AT Field flared up, a barrier of light stopping the atomic breath in its tracks. The Angel responded immediately, firing its devastating particle beam directly at Godzilla. The energy struck Godzilla's chest, sending a shockwave through his massive frame, but he held his ground, letting out a deep, furious roar as he braced against the attack.
"Even Godzilla's atomic breath can't pierce its AT Field?" Ritsuko exclaimed, her hands tightening around the edge of the console. "That thing's defenses are incredible."
Godzilla, undeterred by the failure of his first attack, roared again. His dorsal plates began to glow even brighter, the air around him crackling with energy. He gathered more atomic power, this time focusing even greater intensity into his next blast.
"Come on," Shinji muttered to himself, watching from a distance in Unit-01. "If anyone can bring that thing down, it's him."
Godzilla fired again, the atomic breath now a blazing, concentrated beam aimed directly at Ramiel's core. The air sizzled with heat as the beam collided with the AT Field once more, but this time, the force of Godzilla's attack caused a visible ripple in the barrier. Ramiel's defense wavered for a split second.
But before Godzilla could follow up with another blast, Ramiel retaliated. Its particle beam, more intense than ever, shot down from the sky and struck Godzilla full force, driving him back. The ground shook as Godzilla staggered, smoke rising from his massive chest where the beam had struck.
Still, Godzilla refused to fall. His roar echoed across the battlefield, a primal cry of defiance. The King of the Monsters was not so easily defeated.
In NERV headquarters, Misato stared at the monitor, her mind racing. "We need to combine our efforts. Godzilla's attacks are weakening the AT Field. If we time this right…"
She quickly issued new orders to the pilots. "Shinji, Rei, Asuka! Work with Godzilla. His attacks are weakening the Angel's defenses. You need to hit it when the AT Field falters!"
Shinji, recovering from his shock, nodded. "Understood!"
Asuka, still reeling from her earlier frustrations, gritted her teeth. "Fine, but I'm not playing second fiddle to that overgrown lizard."
With the new plan in place, the Evangelions repositioned. As Godzilla prepared for another powerful blast, the Evas stood ready to strike the moment Ramiel's AT Field wavered.
Godzilla unleashed his atomic breath once again, this time focusing even more power into the blast. The beam hit Ramiel's AT Field, and just as predicted, the field flickered—its strength finally showing signs of weakening under the relentless assault.
"Now!" Misato shouted.
At that exact moment, Shinji in Unit-01 charged forward, rifle at the ready. Asuka followed closely, Unit-02's progressive knife gleaming as she aimed for the Angel's core. Rei provided covering fire, her precision shots adding pressure to the already strained AT Field.
Together, with Godzilla's overwhelming force weakening the Angel's defenses, the Evangelions launched their coordinated attack. Ramiel, its core now exposed, was vulnerable.
Shinji fired a series of concentrated shots directly at the core, while Asuka leapt forward, driving the progressive knife into Ramiel's glowing center. The Angel let out a strange, distorted sound as its core was pierced, its form destabilizing under the combined assault.
With one final, catastrophic explosion, Ramiel's core overloaded, and the Angel disintegrated into a blinding light, leaving nothing but silence in its wake.
Godzilla stood tall, his glowing eyes scanning the battlefield. The King of the Monsters had once again turned the tide of battle. Satisfied that the threat had been neutralized, he gave one final roar before turning back toward the ocean, his massive form retreating into the sea as the water swallowed him up once more.
The Evangelions stood victorious, but the pilots knew that without Godzilla's intervention, they might not have survived. The King had saved them once again, though not out of loyalty—only to maintain the balance that he alone ruled over.
For now, Tokyo-3 was safe. But everyone knew that this uneasy alliance with Godzilla was far from over. The Angels would keep coming, and so too would the King of the Monsters.
