A few weeks had passed, and the calm of the ocean was once again disrupted by the emergence of another Angel. Gaghiel, the aquatic Angel, broke through the surface of the sea with its massive, whale-like body, its maw wide as it hunted for its next target. Tokyo-3 was miles away, but Gaghiel was drawn toward something deeper—perhaps something beneath the ocean itself.
However, this time, it was not alone.
Godzilla had been waiting. His instincts as an apex predator had sharpened after the previous battles with the Angels. He had already sensed Gaghiel's presence before it surfaced, and the King of the Monsters was not about to let another Angel slip through his domain unchallenged. The ocean was his territory, and Gaghiel's intrusion would be met with swift and brutal force.
Deep below the surface, Godzilla lurked, his glowing eyes fixed on the massive form of Gaghiel as it swam through the water. Without hesitation, Godzilla launched himself toward the Angel, moving with surprising speed for a creature of his size. The water churned around him as he closed the distance.
This time, there would be no hesitation, no miscalculation. Godzilla had learned from his previous encounters with the Angels, and he wasn't about to be caught off guard. His dorsal plates glowed faintly as he powered up, preparing to unleash his fury.
In an instant, Godzilla attacked. He rammed into Gaghiel's side with tremendous force, catching the Angel completely by surprise. Gaghiel let out a deep, guttural cry as it was knocked off course, its enormous form spinning through the water. But Godzilla didn't relent—he immediately followed up, slamming his tail into the Angel's flank and driving it deeper into the ocean depths.
Gaghiel thrashed violently, trying to fight back. Its massive jaws snapped at Godzilla, its sharp teeth glinting in the murky water, but Godzilla was faster and more agile than his size suggested. He dodged Gaghiel's attacks, countering with powerful swipes of his claws and bites of his own.
For nearly two hours, the battle raged beneath the waves. Gaghiel, for all its strength as an Angel, was no match for the sheer ferocity and experience of Godzilla. The King of the Monsters kept Gaghiel on the defensive, dodging its desperate attacks while delivering devastating blows. Each time Gaghiel tried to retreat, Godzilla dragged it back down, refusing to let it escape.
Finally, with one last, thunderous roar that echoed through the depths, Godzilla sank his teeth deep into Gaghiel's throat. The Angel struggled for a moment longer, thrashing wildly in the water, but its strength was fading. Godzilla's bite crushed its core, the glowing energy within the Angel flickering and then dying out.
Gaghiel went limp, its massive form sinking to the ocean floor, lifeless. The once-mighty Angel was dead, its body slowly drifting into the dark abyss.
Godzilla, victorious but not willing to linger, swam away from the scene. He had claimed his victory, and now he would return to the solitude of the deep. His massive form vanished into the shadows of the ocean, leaving no trace of the battle behind.
By the time the Evangelions were deployed to the location, it was already over. Shinji, Asuka, and Rei arrived in their Evas, expecting to face the aquatic Angel, but all they found was the eerily calm surface of the ocean. There was no sign of Gaghiel, no trace of the epic underwater battle that had just taken place.
As they scouted the area, Misato's voice crackled through the comms. "The Angel's energy signal… it's gone. What the hell happened here?"
Back at NERV headquarters, Ritsuko stared at the readings in disbelief. "The Angel's been neutralized… but there's no sign of the Evangelions engaging it."
Misato's eyes narrowed. She knew what had happened, even if the data didn't tell the whole story. "Godzilla. He was here."
Shinji, still inside Unit-01, scanned the ocean below, but there was nothing—just empty water. The King of the Monsters had already disappeared, retreating into the depths before they could arrive.
Once again, Godzilla had fought alone, and once again, he had left nothing behind but destruction and mystery.
