A few months passed, and an eerie calm had settled over Tokyo-3. The world had not seen an Angel since Godzilla's devastating intervention, and it seemed as though the worst was behind them. But as always, the peace was fragile, and it would not last. Deep in the heavens, two of the most powerful Angels—the last of their kind—descended toward Earth.
Armisael and Arael.
These Angels were unlike any that had come before, not only in power but in their connection to the rest of the Angel host. They were linked, not just in form and purpose, but in spirit. As they arrived, they reached out, attempting to contact the others. But there was nothing. The other Angels, once a vast and powerful force, were gone. Every one of them had been obliterated by a single being—the one called Godzilla. Their vast network of shared consciousness was now silent, empty. It was as if their brethren had never existed at all.
Armisael, the Angel of Conception, recoiled in disbelief. "How could this be?" It thought. "How could they all be gone? The humans could never have destroyed them—especially not the group we sent. Sahaquiel, Zeruel, Leliel... they were supposed to be invincible."
Arael, the Angel of Light, floated high above the Earth's atmosphere, its great wings spreading across the sky. It, too, was in shock, though its mind worked faster. There had to be an explanation, and that explanation was all too clear: "The King. The destroyer." Arael had heard of the ancient being—the one who drove Adam and God from Earth. Godzilla. Now, they knew the truth. Humanity wasn't the true threat. It was him.
At NERV headquarters, chaos erupted.
The alarms blared, and everyone scrambled to their stations. The readings were off the charts—two Angels, both immeasurably powerful, had arrived at once. Everyone in the command center was on edge.
"Two Angels—simultaneously!" Misato yelled, panic evident in her voice. "We've never dealt with something like this before!"
Ritsuko Akagi stared at the data flooding the screens. "They're stronger than anything we've seen before. These Angels... we can't let them get anywhere near the city!"
The Evangelions were deployed immediately. Shinji, Asuka, and Rei were sent out, their hearts racing as they piloted their massive machines toward the looming threat. In the distance, they could see Armisael descending toward the city like a twisting, living vine of light and flesh. Arael, hovering high in the atmosphere, bathed the battlefield in a blinding glow, its presence overwhelming.
In the command center, Shigeru Aoba glanced nervously at the readings. "We can't do this," he muttered under his breath. "We can't stop two Angels of this caliber..."
The truth was clear to everyone. They were overwhelmed.
As the Evas closed in, Armisael lashed out with tendrils of its body, wrapping itself around Unit-01 and Unit-02, the light from its core intensifying as it attempted to merge with them. Arael, from above, began its psychological assault, its powerful light breaking through the Evas' AT fields, invading the pilots' minds. Shinji and Asuka screamed in pain, their thoughts and memories unraveling as Arael bore down on them, stripping their mental defenses bare.
But even as the Evas fought desperately, and the command center descended into panic, one thought dominated the minds of those at NERV: Where was Godzilla?
Gendo Ikari, still calm despite the chaos unfolding, finally spoke, his voice cold and measured. "It doesn't matter how many Angels they send. The King will come."
And then, as if on cue, the Earth itself seemed to tremble.
From the distant sea, the waters began to churn. The ground rumbled, and a shadow began to rise from the depths. Godzilla, the ancient force of nature, had once again sensed the arrival of the Angels. The King of the Monsters emerged, his colossal form sending shockwaves through the ocean as he made his way toward the city. His roar echoed across the horizon, a primal declaration of war.
Armisael, sensing the immense power approaching, withdrew its tendrils from the Evas, turning its attention to Godzilla. Arael, too, shifted its focus, abandoning its psychic attack on the pilots as it prepared for the ultimate confrontation. Both Angels knew, deep in their cores, that this was the true battle. This was the force that had annihilated their kin.
Godzilla, unfazed by the celestial beings before him, marched forward, each step shaking the earth beneath him. His dorsal fins glowed with atomic energy, charging up for the inevitable confrontation. The Angels attacked first, Armisael extending its tendrils to ensnare Godzilla, while Arael fired beams of light from above, bombarding him with psychic energy.
But it didn't matter.
Godzilla roared, his atomic breath ripping through the air. The beam struck Armisael, severing its tendrils in a flash of blue energy. The Angel screeched in pain, writhing as it tried to regroup. Arael's psychic onslaught, which had devastated the Evas, had little effect on Godzilla. The King's mind was too ancient, too powerful, too alien to be influenced by the Angel's powers.
Godzilla unleashed another blast of atomic breath, this time aimed at Arael. The beam shot into the sky, hitting the Angel directly. Arael's form flickered, its light dimming as it shrieked in agony, the psychic assault faltering.
With a deafening roar, Godzilla charged Armisael, grabbing the Angel with his massive claws. He ripped through its twisting body, tearing it apart with brute strength. The Angel's light flickered and dimmed as it was torn to shreds, its core obliterated by Godzilla's relentless attack. In mere moments, Armisael was gone—its existence wiped from the Earth.
Arael, now weakened and desperate, attempted to flee. But there was no escape. Godzilla's atomic breath fired again, striking the Angel in mid-air. The light of Arael's core intensified for a brief moment before it shattered, the Angel's body disintegrating into nothingness.
In a matter of minutes, the two strongest Angels were no more.
Godzilla stood victorious, his towering form illuminated by the fading light of the battlefield. His roar echoed across the skies once more, a final proclamation of his dominance. As he turned and made his way back to the ocean, the world knew: there was no Angel, no force on Earth or beyond, that could stand against the King.
Back at NERV, the command center was silent. Misato let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding. "It's over…"
Gendo, his hands steepled before him, allowed a rare, small smile to grace his face. "For now, at least. The King has spoken."
Godzilla disappeared beneath the waves, his task complete. For now.
