Hailey Upton and Jay Halstead have been partners for a few years, and they have two beautiful children: Blake-Emerson-Upton-Halstead and Olivia-Grace-Upton-Halstead. Blake is two years old and Olivia is nine years old.
Adjusting to being parents while putting your life on the line, was difficult for Hailey and Jay, not knowing if they were going to return home with a bullet wound or being held hostage for hours, but they were doing everything they could to make sure they were coming home to their children.
Hailey was downstairs, cooking some bacon and eggs, while Blake banged his baby spoon on the plate.
Bang! Tap! Bang! Tap!
The constant banging of the spoon was what made Hailey's job at doing breakfast even harder, especially when she's frying the bacon, and Blake's pulling at her jogging pants, wanting attention, but Hailey managed to balance it all.
Hailey scooped the bananas into the baby bowl. "Okay, Blakey! Okay!"
She walked over to the empty stool and sat down, picking up the spoon. "Here we go, baby."
Blake chewed on the bananas, and Hailey wiped the remains off his mouth. "You messy boy," Hailey teased softly, getting another spoonful of banana ready.
As Hailey fed Blake, a deep, tired voice came from the stairs. "Morning, Family!" Jay called out.
Hailey smiled and noticed the stubble starting to form on her husband's chin. "You got stubble, babe."
Jay felt his chin, and teased. "Thought, you liked me stubbly?"
"Get outta here!" Hailey laughed, pushing Jay away lightly.
Jay laughed, walking over to Blake. "How's my baby boy doing?"
"Bee-Bee."
Jay laughed, ruffling the small hair on Blake's head. "Charming, Buddy!"
"Haha, he's just finished his banana mush, and it's time for some milk to wash it down." Hailey cooed softly.
Hailey placed the finished banana mush on the dish rack and picked Blake up from his high chair. "Babe, can you boil the kettle for Blake's milk? The formula's on the counter."
Jay nodded, putting his coffee down. "You got it, Hail."
As Hailey settled on the couch, she placed the cloth over her shoulder, and got Blake settled on her lap. "Daddy will be here with your bot bot soon, baby."
Just as if by magic, Jay walked over and handed the freshly made baby bottle on the counter. "Freshly made and ready to suckle."
Hailey smiled, picking up the bottle, and taking off the nipple. "Ready, baby boy?"
Blake grasped the bottle, and suckled down. "Easy there! It's not going anywhere, buddy." Jay laughed softly.
"Daddy!" Olivia shouted.
Jay looked up, and noticed Olivia running towards him. "Hi Monkey! What's up?"
"I need your help on a poster for school!" Olivia exasperated, catching her breath.
Jay took the poster, and skimmed it down. "I see, your runnin' for class president?"
Olivia nodded, jumping up and down. "Yes! I also need some muffins to represent myself!"
Hailey looking over, from Blake, imputed. "Well, I could get Uncle Kev to bake some?"
"Yes please, mommy!" Olivia giggled.
Hailey nodded, smiling. "Alright! Let me get Blake burped and settled for a nap, and then I'll call him,"
Olivia nodded, running back upstairs, excited for possibly being class president. "So, you really gonna call Kev?" Jay asked.
Hailey placed the burping cloth on her shoulder, and placed Blake's head on her other shoulder. "I know what he's going through with V, and I don't think he'll be wanting to bake 50 muffins, I'll just buy some from the bakery?"
Jay raised his eyebrow, arms crossed. "And, Olivia will buy that? She does have parents as detectives, remember?"
Hailey cleaned Blake's mouth, and kissed his head. "She'll just have to!"
Jay nodded, trusting his wife's instincts. "Okay! If you say so?"
Hailey got up, nodding. "I'll put this little guy down for his nap, then I'll head out."
Jay replied, not looking up from his papers. "Okay…"
Hailey looked at Blake's sleepy eyes, and nuzzled her nose to his head. "C'mon, buddy, time for your nap!"
Later, It was dinner time, and Hailey was back with muffins, secretly from the bakery. "Here's Uncle Kev's muffins!" Hailey called out.
Olivia squealed, running over. "Thanks, mommy!"
Hailey smiled, and Olivia opened the box. "These… look different?"
Jau got up, and walked over. "Yeah, Uncle Kev didn't have time to make them the way he does, but, they'll be just as nice for your friends!"
Olivia nodded, accepting the bait. "I s'posse."
Everyone started eating dinner, and Blake picked apart his dinosaur chicken. "Dino! Dino!"
Hailey laughed, nodding. "Yeah, baby, that's a dinosaur chicken!"
Blake clapped his tiny hands, giggling. "Chicky!"
As the night came to a close, Hailey tucked Blake into his crib, while Jay dealt with Olivia. "Night Night, Blakey,"
Blake reached up, grasping the mobile. "Ni-Ni, mama!"
Hailey leaned down, and kissed the side of his head. "Night, my baby boy."
She turned the lights out, and met Jay outside Olivia's room. "Blake go down, okay?" Jay asked.
Hailey nodded, leaning against Blake's door. "Yep! Out like a light! What 'bout, Olivia?"
Jay nodded, thinking about his conversation with Olivia. "Yeah! Kept talking about her Class President poster, it's honestly the cutest."
Hailey hummed, leaning over Jay's shoulder. "That is cute! Let's go to bed, let me give you a massage, sound good?"
Jay groaned, feeling his back. "That sounds good right now, my back's killing me!"
Hailey laughed, leading Jay into the bedroom.
Tell me what you think!
