A/N: Sean's POV.

The week was moving too slow for Sean's liking. He was eager to spend quality time with his soulmate, in a more social setting. The only thing that made the long week worthwhile, was that he had gotten his hands on the Coins of Zakynthos. As Sean got ready for bed, he kept the coins close to him. He could understand why many wanted them, the power he felt, like the could take over the world, rule it with Lorelei by his side, as his queen. Where she was meant to be.

He awoke sometime later, to hear faint cheering coming from outside. Sean got up, walking toward the balcony. As he stepped out, the cheering grew louder. A massive crowd was standing in the streets below, chanting his name. Some were waving flag bearing the lionhead from the Coins of Zakynthos. A smirk crossed Sean's face as he looked at the crowd. Suddenly, he felt a hand come to rest on his arm; looking around he saw her, his soulmate, his queen. Lorelei, looking beautiful and pure in a white dress was looking up him in awe, her face full of love. She took his hand, faced the crowd and raised their arms. The crowd below went wild, pledging their support to their leaders.

Lorelei lowered their arms and began leading Sean inside, walking backwards as she looked at him. Her gaze seductive as she pulled him to her, wrapping her arms around his neck to pull him down for a kiss. Sean wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her even closer as he returned the kiss. Lorelei pulled back, breathing heavily as she undid his robe. Sean pulled away as well, letting the robe drop to the floor as Lorelei ran her hands over his chest and shoulders, moving her hand to the mark that showed they were meant to be. Soulmates. Sean took the opportunity to slip the straps of the dress she was wearing, off her shoulders, allowing it to fall to the floor. Lorelei grabbed his hand, pulling him along as she sat on the bed, crawling back, allowing him to hover over her and claim her as his own.

Sean woke with a start, glancing to side, disappointed to see that Lorelei was not beside him. It had been a dream. A dream of what the future could hold. Him, a King and Lorelei by his side, his beautiful Queen. Sean glanced at his phone, considering calling Lorelei, until he saw the time. No, he would let his soulmate sleep. He would call her later. For now, he would plan. Start taking the steps ensure his dream became a reality. And with the Coins of Zakynthos, it would happen.

Damn it. Sean had lost the coins. He had been assaulted in the parking garage of the precinct and the coins were taken. As frustrated as he was, he knew one part of the dream that would be a reality. His future with Lorelei. His beautiful little soulmate, the light to his darkness. She had called him, no doubt hearing about his attack from her brother. Lorelei had offered to put off their meeting, to give him time to recover from his concussion. Sean had assured her that he was fine. His week may have been awful, but he had been looking forward to this time with Lorelei and was not going to allow a concussion to force him to miss it.

Come Saturday, Sean found himself walking through the halls of Lorelei's dormitory until he found himself outside her door. He knocked and heard her call out. A second later, she opened the door, her face lighting up when she saw it was him. She looked beautiful, her hair was out, soft waves framing her face. She was wearing black jeans and a form fitting green long-sleeved top.

"Sean, hey! How are you feeling?"

Sean couldn't stop the smile from crossing his face. "Hello Lorelei, I'm fine. As I told you, it was a mild concussion."

Lorelei returned the smile. "Please come in, I just have to put my shoes on." She told him, turning around to find her shoes. "Now, what did I do with them?"

Sean stepped inside her room, closing the door behind him. He glanced around. It was a small studio style room. There was a double bed in one corner of the room, with a small sofa at the end. A long table on the wall opposite it, which appeared to function as both a tv stand and a desk. Beside that was a door, that appeared to lead to a bathroom and beside that was a kitchenette, with a half-size fridge, microwave, stovetop and sink. The room was light and airy, radiating warmth, much like Lorelei. He turned to see Lorelei bending over to pick up her shoes. Sean couldn't help but allow his gaze to trail over her backside, which were encased in pair of black jeans. He quickly looked away when she straightened up and moved over to the sofa to put her boots on.

"So, what are todays plans?" Lorelei asked him, as she finished tightening up the laces.

Sean moved his gaze from the painting it had landed on, to look at Lorelei again. "Have you had a chance to visit Pittock Mansion yet? He asked.

"No, not yet. I've been wanting to." Lorelei told him, to grab her jacket, where it was sitting over the end of the sofa. Sean quickly grabbed it, holding it open so Lorelei could slide into it. She blushed, her cheeks turning a beautiful shade of pink as she allowed him to help her into her jacket. "Thank you." She said softly looking at him over her shoulder.

"You're welcome." He replied, as Lorelei zipped up the jacket. Sean continued outlining his plans for the day as she Lorelei grabbed a small backpack, a knit hat, and gloves. "I remember you mentioning you liked history. I thought you would appreciate the history behind the mansion."

Lorelei smiled brightly. "Your thoughts were corrected. As I said, I've been wanting to see it."

The pair headed outside and down to Sean's car, keeping the conversation light. As they approached Sean's car, he sped up slightly reaching the passenger door before Lorelei so he could open for her. A brief look of surprise crossed her face before was replaced by a smile as she slid into the car. After closing the door behind her, Sean sat in the driver's seat, and they headed off.

"Have you lived in Portland long?" Lorelei asked him as they left the college.

Sean glanced at her. "Around sixteen years," he replied. "I moved here in 1995 when I joined the academy."

Lorelei nodded. "Wow, it has been a while." She noted. "The longest I ever lived somewhere was Baltimore. We moved around a lot when I was younger but when I started college, Aunt Marie decided to settle in Baltimore until I finished." Sean hummed, trying to both listen to Lorelei and navigate the traffic. "Where did you live before Portland?"

Sean let out a breath. "Much like yourself, I moved a lot when I was younger." He told Lorelei. "I was born in Europe. My mother and I moved to the US when I was twelve."

"Oh wow, Europe huh?" Lorelei commented. Sean hummed again. "I…" Lorelei trailed off as her phone let out a tone. "Excuse me." She said, pulling it from her bag. Lorelei glanced at it briefly before returning her phone to her bag.

"Is it important?" Sean asked.

Lorelei shook her head. "Nah, its just Nick." She told him. "I'll reply later."

"Does Nick know you are spending the day with me?" Sean enquired.

"Nope. I think he might get a little weird about me hanging out with his boss." Lorelei replied.

Sean glanced at her again to see her watching the scenery pass by. They had left the city centre, the buildings becoming far and few between as more greenery emerged. "Do you think its weird?" he asked her.

Lorelei laughed. "No. I mean, you're not my boss." She stated.

Sean smiled. "No, I am not." He agreed.

"Oh, the Japanese Gardens." She said, seeing the sign for the turnoff. "I'm waiting until it gets warmer before checking those out."

"I would suggest waiting. They are even more beautiful in the spring." Sean told her. "It is one of my favourite places in Portland."

"You'll have to give me the tour then. Spring break starts at the end of March. If you are free, then?" Lorelei said, throwing another beautiful smile in his direction, one that caused his heart to skip a beat. Sean returned the smile before returning his gaze to the road. Her words filled him with a warm feeling. She was already making plans to spend more time together, months in advance.

"I will make time." Sean told her, wishing he could reach across the console to hold her hand. He was afraid of scaring her off. He had to take things slowly.

Eventually they arrived at Pittock Mansion. Sean hurried around to again open the car door for Lorelei, who gave him that beautiful smile again. The one that was steadily taking his breath away. Together they walked towards the entrance of the sprawling mansion. Sean paid for their tickets and they began their tour. Sean filled Lorelei in on the history of the property while she admired the history surrounding her. In between the history lesson, Lorelei instigated a game of twenty questions. Sean discovered Lorelei's favourite colour was green, her favourite food was Italian, she had been involved in musical theatre and martial arts, she could sing and play both the piano and guitar, her guilty pleasures were trashy romance novels and low budget horror movies, and that her favourite flowers were lilies.

After touring the mansion and its ground, Sean suggested they stop for lunch at an Italian restaurant a few blocks from Lorelei's college. Once they arrived, the hostess led them to a table in the back. After taking their drink orders, the two were left alone to look over the menu. "Any suggestions?" Lorelei asked Sean.

"Their pappardelle mimmo is the best in the city." He answered. "As is the aragosta."

"Hmm, so many choices." Lorelei said, looking over the menu.

By the time their waitress arrived with their drinks, they were ready to order. Appetizers included the arancini and burrata, while Sean ordered the pappardelle mimmo and Lorelei ordered the aragosta. Lorelei raised her eyebrows as Sean poured her a glass of wine. "I won't tell if you won't." he said in a low voice as he shot her a smile. She returned it as she brought the glass to her nose, taking in the scent before she took a sip.

"Mmm, that is lovely." Lorelei stated. "It beats the stuff I tried at the last party I went to. Nasty stuff." She shook her head and Sean laughed.

"Ah yes. I had my fair share of awful booze during my college years." He said. "Do you attend many parties?"

Lorelei shook her head. "Not really. I went to a few when I first arrived, but its not really my scene."

The appetizers arrived and as they ate, Sean asked Lorelei about her future career plans. "I am hoping to get into research. It somewhat of a passion of mine." Was her answer. "Although I do love what I am doing at Treeview. I actually have the opportunity to incorporate my work with my Masters research project."

Sean raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you're already making plans for that."

Lorelei nodded. "Gail, my work supervisor, works for the college as well. She acts as supervisor for research projects for the Honours, Masters and the PhD programs." Lorelei paused to take a bit of her food.

"What are you planning to do?" Sean asked, filling in the silence.

Once Lorelei had swallowed her food she answered, "Gail and I are still hashing it out, but there is a novel intervention that is being published in the literature. Food prescription programs. They typically target those with type 2 diabetes and are of lower socioeconomic status." She paused again to take a sip of the wine. "The exact intervention can vary, but it can include providing vouchers or access to fresh produce. It aims to decrease obesity and other risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases, such as type 2 diabetes. Diet is a modifiable risk factor that can be targeted. We are exploring whether a food prescription program is something we could do in Portland."

Sean swallowed his own food. "That sounds impressive." He told Lorelei, who smiled at him.

"Thanks. I've been fascinated by the concept since I learnt about it." She said. "Most programs are targeting those who already have some kind of diagnosis. I would like to target those who are pre-diabetic or are risk of developing cardiovascular diseases."

"I hope it is some something you can do in Portland."

"Yeah, me too. It is also a great way to address food insecurity. We still have some time. I can't start my project for a couple more years, but Gail thinks we should start planning it now."

Sean nodded. He didn't know a lot about research but he had a feeling it involved a lot of planning. "I look forward to hearing more about it." He told Lorelei, who blushed slightly.

"Sorry, I can nerd out a bit about this kind of stuff." She said.

Sean laughed. "No need to apologise. It's something you are passionate about. Feel free to 'nerd out' whenever you wish."

After the appetizers and the main course, they decided to have desert. Lorelei was unsure, but Sean insisted on paying. She eventually gave in, once she saw the cannoli the table near them had ordered.

"These cannolis are amazing, but that tiramisu looks great." Lorelei commented. Sean scooped up a spoonful and offered it to her. "Are you sure?" she asked and after Sean assured her, he was, she leant forward and took a bite. Sean found himself distracted, watching as her lips slid off the spoon his own lips had touched. "Wow, that is the best tiramisu I have ever had."

"I agree." Sean said, loading the spoon again, eager to get as close to kissing his soulmate as he would be able to get for a while. The tiramisu seemed to taste better after the second bite.

Once they finished desert, they decided to visit the nearby art museum to walk the meal off before Sean dropped Lorelei off at home. Lorelei had visited the museum before but expressed an interest in returning.

"And so, Aunt Marie returned home to find Nick tied to a chair in the living room, watching the TV while I was curled up on a bean bag under the kitchen table reading the book she had told me I was too young to read." Lorelei was laughing at the memory.

Sean was laughing as well. "How old were you?" he asked. "And how old was Nick?"

"I think I was about five and Nick was about sixteen or seventeen." She answered. "I was really determined to read that book in peace. I'm still surprised I managed to convince Nick to let me tie him up. He never trusted me to do something like that again."

Sean continued chuckling. "I can't say I'm surprised." He voiced, shaking his head.

"In his defence, he didn't think I could tie knots that well. I think it was the last time he underestimated me though."

Sean just shook his head again. It was interesting listening to Lorelei speak about her relationship with Nick. Despite their age difference, they appeared to have a very close relationship. Sean couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. He certainly didn't have that type of relationship with his own brother. Eric, much like his mother the Queen, despised Sean's existence.

"Are you ok?" Sean heard Lorelei ask. Sean's feelings must have been reflected on his face, because Lorelei had turned away from the artwork she was admiring and placed her hand on his arm.

Sean shook his head slightly, bringing himself out of his head. "Ah yes. Just thinking about my own brother."

Lorelei looked surprised. "Oh, you have a brother as well."

"Yes. I have a half-brother. We do not get along, not like you and Nick." He told her, trying to avoid providing anymore information. It could lead to more questions he wasn't ready to answer yet.

Lorelei nodded in understanding. "I am lucky." She acknowledged. "I knew a girl who had an older brother. Similar age difference to me and Nick. He pretty much ignored her existence. It used to bother her a lot."

Again, Sean nodded. Lorelei seemed to realise there was a need for change in conversation. The conversation turned towards the artwork. The rest of their visit was filled with light conversation. It was almost closing time when they finally left, and Sean drove Lorelei back to campus.

"I do like living on campus, but I think next year I might try living off campus. More freedom. I really want to get a pet, and you can't have pets in the dorms." Lorelei explained, when Sean asked her if she would continue living in the dorms the following year.

"What type of pet were you looking at?"

"I would love to get a dog, but I am so busy right now, I just wouldn't be able to give it the attention it would need. So, I will probably start with a cat." Lorelei answered, as Sean parked in front of her dorm building.

"Cats are pretty self-sufficient from what I've heard." He said, turning off the ignition.

Lorelei smiled. "Yeah, that's what appeals about them." She told him, before shrugging. "But that won't be until the summer when I move out of the dorms." Lorelei glanced toward the front of the building. "Well, this looks like my stop." She looked back at Sean. "Thank you. I had a great day. You are a great tour guide."

Sean smiled down at her, feeling disappointed that their time together was coming to an end. "You are most welcome. It was a great day. And, Portland is a big city. Plenty more to see." He said, hoping she would pick up the meaning behind his words.

She seemed to have read between the lines. "Well, let me know when you are available next. You have my number."

Sean nodded. There was a moment of silence, and Sean could have sworn he saw Lorelei's eyes drift to his lips. Before he could do anything, Lorelei shift to open the door. "Thanks again Sean. I'll see you later. Have a good night."

And with that, she was gone, walking towards the entrance of the building. She paused, glancing over her shoulder towards Sean. She gave him a wave before finally entering the building. Sean watched the entrance for a moment, before starting the ignition and pulling out. Kicking himself for not making a move.
