Season 9 - B - Broken
It had been a difficult case, after dealing with Enzo, and the explosion, and Jay decided instead of ordering a takeout, he'd make dinner.
Hailey was relaxing on the couch, reading her book, which she always read before she had dinner, it was what soothed her, when dealing with a rough case.
"Dinner's up!" Jay called, from the kitchen.
Hailey placed the bookmark in her book, and got up from under the blankets. "Looks nic-."
The dish fell from Jay's hands, leaving a smashed dish and the whole dinner on the floor. "Shit!"
Hailey rushed over, and grabbed the dustpan and brush, then started to clean the food off the floor. "It's alright! We can always do takeout?"
Jay started shaking, and thought of all the things which could be his possible punishment. "I-I'm so sorry! I know that was your favorite dish!"
Hailey could sense her husband was going into a panic attack, and she quickly placed the remaining pieces in the trashcan and grabbed his hands. "Jay, look at me."
Jay looked at Hailey, then looked away. "No, babe. Look at me,"
Hailey turned his head so he was directly facing her. "This wasn't your fault, things slip from my hands all the time, remember when I dropped that football?"
"Ye-Yes,"
Hailey smiled, feeling him come back to her. "That's it, you're being such a good boy for me, baby."
"I-I really sorry, Hails."
Hailey shook her head, pulling his down to her shoulder, "It was just a little accident, I'm not mad at all. I'm never going to punish you like your father did, I promise."
"O-Okay, I'm really sorry! I'll buy a new dish! I promise!"
Hailey placed Jay's hands around her waist. "Jay, remember what I said? You don't need to worry or keep apologising, I don't blame you, okay? I don't."
"I-I know…"
Hailey smiled softly, hugging him tightly. "There you go, just lean into me, feel my heartbeat, that's my steady heart, let's match it with yours, ready?"
He nodded.
"Alright, breathe in for four and out for seven." Hailey coached, placing a hand on his heart.
Jay grabbed the hand, and copied Hailey's breathing. "Out for seven, in for four…"
As Hailey continued to count, she felt Jay's breathing even out. "There's my good boy, you're doing great!"
Jay stopped doing the exercise and leant heavily on her chest. "Did that feel good?" Hailey whispered, brushing his hair back.
"Y-Yeah, thanks, Hail."
Hailey smiled, kissing his forehead. "No problem, babe. I love you,"
The two stayed like that and Hailey continued pushing Jay's hair back, kissing it softly. "You wanna nap?"
Jay shrugged, sighing. "I think I do?"
Hailey nodded, not moving from her position, but helping Jay stand up.
"Let's go, hon,"
He got up, and walked with Hailey to the bedroom.
XOXO XOXO
They walked into the bedroom, and Hailey walked to the dresser, and grabbed some sweats for Jay.
"Here, change into these, babe."
Jay took the sweats, changing into them and got into bed with her.
"You look like you're having one of your migraines? You okay?" Hailey wondered, slipping in the bed beside him.
Jay nodded, rolling away from her, grabbing the edge of his pillow. "Could you….massage the back of my head? Please?"
Hailey nodded, and placed her soft hands on the back of his head, gently massaging. "I can keep doing this for as long as you want me to."
Jay nodded, and got comfortable. "I'm sorry, Hail."
She shushed him and continued to massage his scalp. "No, you're not thinking straight, your half asleep. It's okay, just have your nap."
Jay closed his eyes, falling asleep.
As Hailey slowed down on her massage, she cuddled into his arms, falling asleep as well.
