Drinny FF

Chapter 14

I felt the world shift beneath me as Ginny pulled me down, my body landing against hers with a thud. The playful tension drained from the room in an instant. I hovered over her, bracing my hands on either side of her head, my breath uneven.

Our faces were so close – closer than I'd ever imagined. I could see every freckle on her nose, the way her lips parted slightly as she caught her breath. Her fiery red hair fanned out across my dark green bedspread. And then, without warning, I felt the flush of heat turn into something else.

Oh God, no.

I panicked. I could feel my… body reacting. No, no, no. Not now. Not with her. I tried to focus on anything else but the feel of her beneath me, her warmth, the scent of her hair, was overwhelming. I shot off of her and in an attempt to hide the hot flush on my face, I sat with my back to her.

I heard her footsteps approaching. As she sat down next to me, I didn't dare look her in the eyes. Then she spoke, her voice soft and breathless.

Ginny: Draco… It's okay.

My head shot up to hers. Her saying my first name sent a jolt through me. I froze, my heart thudding in my chest. No one ever said his name like that – especially not her. She wasn't teasing him, wasn't mocking him. There was no judgement in her eyes, just empathy and understanding.

I couldn't help it. I grabbed her face and kissed her, the need to kiss her hitting me as a curse.

But she didn't kiss me back.

Ginny's body stiffened as my heart sank. What the fuck am I doing? I pulled back immediately.

For a second neither of us spoke. Then, Ginny stood up.

Ginny: I…I h- have to go.

Her voice shook and I watched, frozen, as ginny grabbed her bag. She didn't look back when she made her way to the door. I wanted to yell, tell her to stop, explain… but no words came out.

The door clicked shut behind her, and the room fell into a suffocating silence.

I cursed under my breath, staring at the spot where Ginny had been just moments ago. My mind was racing, my pulse pounding in my ears. The feel of her under me, her breathless voice saying his name, the feeling of her soft lips, was burned into my memory, tormenting me.

"Draco… It's okay"

I buried my face in my hands, the realization hitting me hard. I had crossed a line. And now… I didn't know how to fix it.
