Hello everyone and welcome to a special tale, Bloodlust! It all started this year with the one sentence I said while talking with a friend. "I wonder why there's not many [Gumball vampire au] ones."
Now you might notice I say this is special. That's because, this is a writing collaboration! This story is a collab between my said friend I mentioned in the first paragraph, Valha28 (check out his works btw they're awesome) and well, me! He not only provided a good chunk of the ideas for this story, but also helped to write, develop and expand upon the story throughout. Have fun guessing who wrote what (and who came up with each idea)! In fact, maybe this isn't even Imagination speaking anymore…you'll never know! MWAHAHAHAHAHA! (you can definitely tell who this is lmao)
We made the entire initial storyline together over the span of, scarily, about a week or two, mostly coming up with so many ideas that this book won't be the only one lol! Anyways, a vampire Gumball AU sounded like a fun idea, so well, here we are!
Some disclaimers before we start! First off, Tawog is not owned by us, it is owned by CN and Ben Bocquelet of course. Also, credit to The Vampire Diaries for many of the vampire concepts featured through this entire AU. They were just too good not to use! Same goes for all the vampire research I did lol.
This story contains some dark material, such as blood (obviously, it's a vampire story), somewhat gore, and some warnings that you'll likely see in other chapters if they're required. (such as technically self-harm and starvation) You'll see when we get there.
Without further ado, enjoy the story!

All was quiet in the streets of Elmore.
The moon was up, and not a soul was in sight, everything long closed and packed away. The same could not be said for Gumball however, as our titular blue feline was wandering the cracked sidewalks, grumbling to himself as he occasionally stopped to scope out the area, looking for his destination.
"Why can't I ever keep track of where I put my stuff?" He muttered, continuing his walk. At the moment, he was on his way to the town's public park, on the search for his first edition Krupoch the Barbarian action figure, the one he'd lost after he had it with him earlier. It was one of his prized possessions at this rate, and he refused to part with it.
Why had he even brought such a valuable figure along with him to the park in the first place? Well, he'd learnt that Tobias had recently gotten into Krupoch and had started collecting the figures himself. Gumball, remembering that he owned an incredibly rare Krupoch figure, realized there was a golden opportunity presenting itself to him. He could, for once, turn the tables on Tobias and show off and brag about something awesome to him. Considering how often the latter did so with all of his stuff at school it was only fair the feline got to have a little fun and give his friend a taste of his own medicine.
And it had been more than worth it just to see the incredulous look on his face. Well it was, until he'd gotten home and realized the figure was no longer in his pocket. Horrified, he'd begged his Mom to let him go back to search for it, but with it already being late in the afternoon and with him having homework to complete she'd refused and said that he could search for it tomorrow after school instead.
He couldn't wait that long though. This figure was irreplaceable, his absolute prized possession. He had to find it. And he wouldn't go back home until he did.
Looking around though, the feline couldn't help but feel a little uneasy being out this late. He wasn't stupid, he knew there could be dangerous people wandering about. That's why he'd asked, or more accurately begged, Darwin to come along with him. Unfortunately for him his brother had been too scared at the prospect of being outside so late and thus had stubbornly refused to tag along.
"I would have thought having a cat with night vision, sharp teeth and claws would have reassured him a little." Gumball scoffed. "Guess he thinks I'm too incompetent to actually defend myself..."
He paused briefly as his ears lowered, a little hurt at such a thought, before continuing with a grumble. "Whatever, I don't need his help anyway…"
Suddenly a loud crash dragged Gumball out of his thoughts, the feline jumping back with a scream. Panickily looking around he sighed when he saw a raccoon scampering away from a knocked over trash can with a fish in its mouth.
The young cat couldn't help but giggle to himself at the absurdity of the situation as he continued on his way to the park. "Only I could get scared by a freaking raccoon…"
As he continued to laugh, however, he failed to notice the figure hidden in the shadows of a nearby alleyway. A very hungry figure, a beast one might call it, out on the prowl for his next meal. He bared his fangs, as his red glaring eyes became visible in the darkness.
Prowl, he would no longer…for he had just found his prey.
Silently and swiftly, the figure dashed away. Gumball looked around, believing that he'd heard something, but all that could be seen was a few pieces of trash and paper being blown away.
"Must just be the wind.." He shrugged the disturbance off, returning back to his thoughts again. They were, after all, the only form of comfort he had at the moment with Darwin refusing to tag along.
Surprisingly, although Darwin had refused, Anais had stepped up out of the blue and offered to go with him instead. Whether she was trying to impress him, felt left out and wanted to join him on an adventure, or was just making a very un-Anais-like decision on a whim he wasn't sure, but something he was damn sure of was that accepting the offer was completely off the table.
Though he appreciated her willingness to help, there was not a chance in heck that he was risking bringing his little sister with him on a late-night venture into the deserted town. He'd never forgive himself if she ended up getting hurt because of it. He would have asked Carrie if she was available to come along, but he was too afraid that if he did she'd have judged him for being scared or needing her help with something so mundane, and with Penny busy looking after Polly that left him with no one else to turn to. So, with much reluctance the young kitten had snuck downstairs and out of the house on his own.
Not that it mattered though, because nothing was going to stop him from finding his figure, with or without his siblings' and friends' help. The only thing he was really concerned about was his mother discovering he snuck out. He probably wouldn't see the sun for at least a week if she did.
As he edged ever closer to his destination , Gumball could feel his worries rise by the passing minute. Sure, he had night vision, so he could see just fine, but something bugged him about the silence. It was too quiet. Too dark. Too scary.
The cat let out a small startled scream, hearing a chime ring out. Upon looking down, he could see his phone's screen glowing faintly in his pocket. "Oh..gosh darn it that's the second time tonight…" He sighed. "Maybe Darwin was right…perhaps I should go back home and search for the stupid figure tomorrow…"
Taking out his phone, he saw a few texts from Penny wishing him goodnight, wishing him good luck in finding his figure, and expressing her love to him. Gumball couldn't help but chuckle, quickly texting up a similar message in response before putting his phone back. Seeing that Penny had faith in him, he felt a renewed sense of determination wash through him."No, what am I thinking? I'm fine! There's nothing out here right now that could hurt me other than maybe Sal and his spoons or some random neighborhood cat. I'm just being stupid."
Determined to find his figure and not wanting to be outside longer than he needed to be, Gumball picked up the pace. He was on a mission, he didn't have time to slowly drag himself to the park whilst immersed in his thoughts anymore.
Finally, after another five minutes, he arrived at the park. Letting go of the breath he didn't realize he was holding, he warily climbed over the locked gate and jumped down into the park before him. To no surprise there was, nothing and nobody around. Perfect. The feline frowned, as he could feel raindrops start to fall onto his head, the flash of lightning and the clap of thunder soon following.
"Seriously? It has to rain now? Whatever, I'm not letting you stop me universe."
Eager to find his figure and get home as soon as he could, he ignored the rain soaking into him and focused on his search, glancing around for any sign of a glossy plastic action figure anywhere in his sight. He was so focused on his search in fact, that he initially didn't notice the figure leaping over the wall and landing a few feet ahead of him with a thud.
As the figure moved toward him, however, Gumball's ears perked up at the shuffling nearby. Cautiously observing the walkway, his eyes landed on the rather mysterious figure up ahead of him. The person was staring ominously, with his red almost beast like eyes, almost as if in a trance.
"Uh… Hello?..." The cat didn't dare step closer, alarm bells ringing in his head. Something wasn't right here. As he continued to look at him, he noticed what the person was wearing, being what looked like some sort of ancient looking outfit, as if they stepped out from an old painting.
It was then that the figure took a step closer.
Gumball's eyes widened, as he started to connect the dots, seeing the person open their mouth, bright sharp white fangs gleaming at him. He'd seen his fair share of supernatural entities before. For crying out loud one of his closest friends was a ghost. Yet, vampires were never creatures he ever thought could exist yet here was obviously that exact thing, standing right in front of him, clearly eager to feast. And he was the creature's intended treat.
The vampire broke into a run. So did Gumball.
Gumball screamed as he tried to get away from them, breathing heavily as he was doing all he could to make it back to the park's gate. He was desperate for his figure but not that desperate.
However, his foot caught onto uneven sidewalk, and he face planted onto the ground beneath him. The cat desperately tried to get back up, but by then it was too late, as the vampire slammed him back down onto the concrete and pinned him down..
Gumball felt nothing but sheer terror as despite the feline putting all of his might into breaking free, the vampire seemed to be keeping him trapped with only the smallest amount of pressure. This only served to terrify him more. How was this thing so effortlessly keeping him pinned down!? He couldn't even begin to comprehend how strong it might be!
The creature turned him over. and the two were now face to face. Gumball could feel his heart practically doing triple backflips inside of him, as he tried to pull away like his life depended on it, which wasn't too far from reality.
Two white fangs were getting closer and closer to him. There was nothing he could do now.
Tears streaming down his face, the feline closed his eyes. This was it…he was all alone in the middle of the night, about to be viciously drained of blood and left to be discovered by some unfortunate soul in the morning by some vampire.
His family would never see him again. His girlfriend would never see him again. All because of some stupid, worthless piece of plastic.
"I'm sorry…I'm so sorry…" The young kitten sobbed quietly.
The vampire lurched forward. Pain soared through Gumball's neck. He screamed. Then suddenly, everything went black.
