A/N: Have some fluff!
Title: Scarf
Summary: Lily seems awfully cold, James can't help but notice.
WC: 493
October was turning out to be a very chilly month, James couldn't help but think as he made his way through Hogsmeade. The last outing they'd had in September, barely a month ago had been completely different, very reminiscent of summer with above 20 weather and a glorious sunny sun. The sun was still shining today, but the temperature had significantly dropped. This was, after all Scotland.
Remus and Sirius had abandoned him a while ago, claiming that sometimes they needed their privacy. Pff. Ridiculous. Okay, maybe they were dating, but did they really need to leave James all alone? On the other hand, he did hate third-wheeling, as Peter had had the brilliant idea to get detention for some absurd reason (not doing homework or something), leaving poor James to err in the streets of the quaint village all by himself.
This was no good, and not very enjoyable.
Suddenly, his day significantly brightened when he saw none other than his favourite scarlet-haired witch, Lily (who had unfortunately, yet again, refused to go to Hogsmeade with him... for the seventeenth time).
"Hey, Lilyflower," he exclaimed as he walked up to her. "What are you doing out here all alone?"
"Don't call me Lilyflower," she grumbled, but he could tell it was only half-heartedly. "And I'm not all alone, I'm waiting for Dorcas." She nodded towards the shop she was waiting next too, that seemed severly over-crowded.
"Ah, I see the problem. You have been abandonned," James said. "You see, you should have said yes when I asked you out. I would never have left you out here!"
Lily rolled her eyes. "As far as I can tell, you're alone too."
"Another reason for us to have gone together."
"In your dreams, Potter." She huffed and rubbed her hands together, both of them red. She clearly looked quite cold. He couldn't help but notice that she was only wearing a very light jacket, and nothing else. Her breath came out in small white puffs. Only her scarlet hair was keeping her head and neck warm. Goodness, she was just so beautiful.
Suddenly, a brilliant idea crossed his mind. Quickly, before she could protest, he removed his Gryffindor scarf and hooked it around her neck.
"Potter, what—?"
"You looked cold," he said, with a smile.
"I—Thank you," she finally replied, shooting him a small smile.
And without warning, she leaned over and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. James barely managed to comprehend what had happened, as blushed a bright scarlet. What did that mean?
Dorcas came out of the shop at that very moment, not giving James a moment to react, and alreadt Lily and her were heading there way.
Lily turned back and called, "See you around, James!"
James couldn't believe what was happening. And though his neck was now exposed to the October wind, his cheek radiated warmth, making him completely forget any thoughts about being cold.
