The Rider of Magix Ch. 04
Even though it's Roxy's first day back at Alfea, for everyone else it's the third day.
Most of Roxy's injuries have healed after the incident with the demons. Hardly a scar is left.
Her mother still refused to discuss anything involving Johnny or this Ghost Rider she spoke of. If the young fairy was to mention them, Morgana would just scold her. And if Zarathos was brought up, she'd immediately be sent to her room.
But the worst part for Roxy was the lack of sleep. Ever since the encounter, the girl swears that she can feel those monsters still clawing at her. The poor teen would often jolt awake and attempt to swat the demons away before realizing there's nothing there. And they seem to be becoming more frequent and more intense.
.oOo.
Roxy awakes with a start, shouts as she jumps out of her seat, and throws a spell out in front of her where she swears there was a demon.
Prof. Palladium was quick to put a barrier up to block the spell. "Roxy! What has gotten into you? You're not usually like this."
The purple haired teen looks around and registers that she's standing in the middle of the classroom. Her fellow students were staring at her. Some out of worry and others amused at the situation. The poor girl must have fallen asleep in the middle of the lesson.
"I'm, I'm sorry, Prof. Palladium," Roxy retakes her seat. "I haven't been sleeping well lately."
"Your mother mentioned an incident that delayed your return to Alfea," the teacher looks at the student in worry. "Perhaps I could ask Faragonda to excuse you for the rest of the day so that you can get some rest."
"Thanks, but I must refuse. I'm already behind everyone else."
"Very well, Roxy," Palladium goes to continue with the class when Roxy speaks up again.
"Professor…" the purplette was hesitant. "This has nothing to do with your lesson. But have you heard of the Ghost Rider?"
"Can't say I have. Is there a particular reason?"
"No," Roxy looks down at her desk. "Just curious."
.oOo.
After class, Roxy decided to hang out with the Winx in the city.
The Animal Fairy lets out a yawn as she crosses the street, not paying attention to the Don't Walk sign as her friends reach for her.
"Roxy!"
"Roxy!"
"Roxy!"
The purplette finally opens her eyes and at the sound of a horn, turns to see a car heading straight for her.
Roxy suddenly finds her feet of the ground and at a high speed is somehow avoiding the oncoming vehicles. Then, she suddenly comes to a complete stop.
The fairy takes a few deep breaths before noticing an arm wrapped around her.
Out of instinct, Roxy throws her hand at whoever has a hold of her.
"Ow! Are you trying to remove my jaw completely?"
"Johnny?" finally glancing up, Roxy does indeed find the biker with a hold of her.
"You know," he sets her down. "You're supposed to look both ways before crossing the street?" then parks the bike.
"Yeah," the purplette looks down. "I just haven't been sleeping well."
Johnny notices this. "I know that look," the boy sighs. "So many people who I've saved after couldn't handle it. Either they didn't want to accept what happened was real or have a hard time living knowing what they know now."
"I'm a fairy, Johnny. I've learned to accept the impossible," Roxy starts shaking a bit.
"I've been through a lot myself but those things clawing at me. I can't get those images out of my head."
"Hey," the biker places a hand on the girl's shoulder. "It's okay. You'll be okay. The demons aren't here."
"You are," she looks up at him. "You said so yourself. You go where the demons go. Are the demons here?"
The boy sighs. "Not gonnna lie. I have this radar thing and been sensing something going on with the demons on Earth for a while. As soon as you mentioned Magix I knew that I had to be here. But I've been patrolling every night and if there are any demon's here, there hasn't been a peep," he sees that the girl is still shaking and puts a hand on her shoulder. "Hey… I'm here to take care of them. And you should be fine indoors after dark. Okay?"
Roxy starts calming down and starts rubbing her arm. "My Mom says that I shouldn't trust you," then looks up at the biker. "But I do, Johnny. Not sure why but I do," and smiles at him at which, Johnny returns it.
A voice then shouts. "Roxy!" redhead then runs up to them and hugs the Animal Fairy. "We were so worried."
Soon other girls ran up to them as well, each voicing their concerns.
"I'm fine, guys," Roxy insists before gesturing to the boy, "Johnny saved me."
Everyone turns to the boy and suddenly, all but the redhead becomes weary of his presence.
The redhead approaches to shake his hand. "Thanks for helping our friend. I'm Bloom," once she pulled away she started thinking. "Why do you look familiar?"
The boy shrugs wearing a smirk. "I just have one of those handsome faces that girls can't help get enough of."
Roxy giggles at that. "Johnny," then turns to the redhead. "You ever been to the circus when it was in Gardenia? Especially up to about two years ago?"
Bloom's eyes widen in realization and turns to the boy. "You're Johnny Blaze? The Johnny Blaze?"
Johnny's smile grew. "The one and only."
"Oh, man! I had the biggest crush on you when I was little. You did so many amazing tricks on your bike."
"Tricks? Tricks!?" that offended the boy. "Driving a bike while sitting on the handles is a trick. But what I did? From jumping through burning rings, to jumping over a tank of live sharks riled up with chum. That was art."
Bloom had taken a step back. "Sorry," then turns to the purple haired girl. "How'd you become friends with Johnny. Last I heard he disappeared after…" she trails off while glancing at the boy who looks away.
Roxy places a hand on his shoulder before telling her friend. "It's a bit of a long story. The incident I had before school started. Johnny saved me."
"Speaking of…" Johnny now looks up at the sky to notice the changing colors, signaling the twilight. "Better get going," he hops back onto his ride. "Got a job to do. Hey, Roxx!" and turns to her. "See you around?"
The Animal Fairy smiles. "I hope so, Johnny."
With that, the boy takes off.
Roxy finds herself staring at his disappearing figure. At which point, Bloom speaks up.
"So, you and Johnny?" the redhead wears a knowing smirk.
"What!?" the purplette turns to her friend wide-eyed. "No! Johnny and I are only friends. Besides! We only met a couple days ago."
"I barely knew Sky for a week before we started dating. Same for Stella and Brandon. Right, Stella?" there was silence. "Stella?" she faces the rest of her friends and notices the unsettling looks. "Guys? What's wrong?"
Stella was the first to speak up. "You honestly didn't feel that?"
Bloom and Roxy faces one another with a shrug before turning back to their friends. "Feel what?"
Flora steps up. "I'm not sure how to explain it but there's this aura around him. It's powerful and disturbing."
"I didn't sense anything," Bloom tells them before suggesting. "Maybe it's a Magical Dimension thing?"
"I don't think so," Roxy speaks up while thinking. "I didn't sense anything, but my Mom did. She was freaked out by something," she then turns back to her friends. "But why can't Bloom and I sense it."
It was then that Tecna spoke up. "The only thing the two of you have in common is that neither of you grew up around magic. Perhaps you are yet to be in tune to sense whatever danger that Johnny Blaze brings."
"I can't believe that Johnny would be dangerous," Roxy pleads. "He saved me. Twice. He didn't have to, but he did. I just know that he's a good person."
Bloom is wearing a smirk once again and even the rest of the Winx are sharing similar lookds.
"Oh, Roxy," with a giggle Stella walks up to the youngest Winx. "It seems like some one has a case of lovesick damsel."
"What?"
Musa then chips in. "You know? When a young woman is in a situation where she ends up saved buy a handsome strange and is suddenly heads over heels for him. Just ask Flora. It was the same for her and Helia." The Nature Fairy simply smiles and nods.
"But I'm not head over heels for him!" the Animal Fairy defends, feeling her face heating up.
"Sure, you're not, Roxy," the Light Fairy then wraps an arm over her shoulder as the group walks away. "Just like how you're not the lost fairy princess of Earth."
The group giggles as the only thing Roxy wants to do is hide away.
