I was currently fighting some gang members. There was a party at my house, but thankfully, I was not the one who was hosting it. Thankfully, I was able to subdue them without much trouble. The thing about gang members was while they were skilled with dealing with regular people, when it came to going against people that knew what they were doing, they really weren't that good. I didn't even really need Courtney or Mia's help with it. Unfortunately, they wouldn't tell me where they had been getting their guns from. I was pretty sure that I already knew.
"So it looks like they have stolen assault rifles." I explained. I really hoped that all of the restrictions on guns wouldn't be lifted in this world. I knew that these were obtained illegally, but politicians had made it too easy for regular people to obtain weapons like this where I was from. One thing that I changed in my world was making sure that man was never elected.
"We can check on those after you get done with the party." Courtney suggested. Technically, I didn't need to be there, but it would be nice to do for Thea. "We need to hurry up and get there."
I went to the club and got changed into a blue formal dress before Courtney and I made our way there.
"Where have you been?" She asked me as I entered. "I don't think the people at this party really like me and I could really use your charm."
"I'm sorry there was a fight at the club. Someone brought out a gun." I lied.
"We were just talking about guns." Sebastian interrupted.
"Hey, Olivia." Dinah greeted me. I was glad that she seemed to be doing okay after being kidnapped by the Dollmaker.
"What's your interest in guns, Miss Queen?" He replied. Was he talking to me or Thea?
"Well I'm not really a fan of them." Thea commented.
"The gun epidemic in the Glades has gotten a little out of control." He stated.
"Well I'm sure that the police are doing whatever they can to catch whoever is bringing the weapons into this city." I remarked. I noticed that he scoffed at that. "People are always telling me that I am not funny, so why are you laughing?"
"They know who has been arming the gangs, Olivia." Dinah explained. "The Mayor."
"But we don't have a mayor right now." I pointed out. I had to act like I didn't know what they meant.
"He's not the actual mayor." Sebastian explained. "He's a local gang lord that calls himself The Mayor. He thinks he's the man that will save our city?"
"Is that supposed to be your job?" Thea quipped.
"This mayor just wants to create chaos so he can rule the Glades at the barrel of a gun." He explained. Did they really think it would be that easy especially when the heroes of the city specialized at attacking from long range.
I didn't like The Mayor. I didn't really like anyone who resorted to using guns. The only people that I really supported using guns was the police, Diggle, and Rene and they all had proper training and didn't use their guns for evil. I read somewhere that guns were the number one cause of death in America, even more so than cancer and car accidents. I wasn't entirely sure if that was true, but even if it wasn't, there were still too many gun deaths and I would have to do my part to stop it in our city.
Later, I found Dinah with Tommy. She was drinking something. It was possible that she was still going to face problems with alcoholism because it was something that was genetic.
"Hi." I greeted them.
"Please don't ask me if I'm okay because I am really sick of hearing it." She replied.
"I was just saying hi." I declared. "Are you okay?"
Both of them shot me some dirty looks.
"The Dollmaker was just your garden-variety traumatic experience." She explained. It was probably something that she should see a therapist about. "After the quake and losing my restaurant, I should be used to that by now."
"We were trying to avoid talking about it." Tommy remarked. Maybe he would be able to get her to go to therapy.
"I think avoiding it isn't good for you." I commented. "Maybe that's why I don't remember what happened to me, because I didn't have anyone to talk to."
"Hey, I need to talk to you." Courtney interrupted. She looked at Dinah and Tommy. "It won't take long."
Tommy went and took her upstairs.
"So I just thought of something. If this girl is Sara like you think she is, maybe instead of following you, she's following Dinah." Courtney guessed. "Maybe you'll find her near their apartment. I mean it wouldn't hurt to check there."
So I went to Tommy and Dinah's apartment and made a few things. I thought about doing something to stop her sonic scream, but I was pretty sure that she wouldn't use it on me because she knew who I was as well. Once I had her captured, I went over to her.
"I didn't think that I would ever see you again." I commented. I wasn't going to pretend that I hadn't figured out who she was because I wanted her to know that she could trust me.
"I missed you. I was wondering how long it would be until you figured it out." She commented. "I always did love that brain of yours, Livvy."
At that point, I went over and took off her mask. She had the most beautiful blue eyes.
"Sara." I replied. "How did you get your powers?"
"It was Christmas when I first discovered them. I think that it might be something related to Ivo's experiments." She remarked. Had he experimented on me or something? "Also I'm sorry, but I have to go."
At that point, she did scream, knocking me down. She broke out of the ropes, basically confirming that she had let me capture herself.
"So she's really Sara: the detective's other daughter, Dinah's sister and the one you took on the boat with you." Iris stated. I wasn't sure why she was saying like I didn't already know who Sara was. "How did she survive?"
"I don't know." I explained. I couldn't confirm that she had still been a member of the League of Assassins. Did they take underage people? The only child that I knew they trained was Nyssa and that was because she was Ra's al Ghul's daughter. I then looked at Mia. "Do you know?"
"I just knew that she was alive, but I didn't know anything about her." Mia replied. I couldn't help but wonder if I was going to meet Barry and Kara soon then.
"Well I guess being from another world, you wouldn't remember anything about it. Maybe you can ask her more about your past." Courtney replied.
"I still don't know if I believe in this world traveling stuff." Iris admitted. "I'm sorry but it just sounds impossible to me. Can we stop talking about it? What I want to know is why you let Dinah and her dad think that she was dead."
"Because I wasn't sure if she was alive or not." I declared. "I didn't want to give them any false hope. Until Mia came here and told me that she was alive, I didn't know because I had been to other worlds where she had died."
At that point, I noticed that I was crying. I must have been thinking about all of the times I thought that I saw Sara die, including the time that I had actually seen her die.
"We can stop talking about this now." Mia declared as she gave me a hug.
"I just have one question. Are you going to tell them now?" Iris inquired.
"I can't do that unless I have proof." I stated. "But this is still very delicate. Last time people were after her and they may be after her this time. So where are we with The Mayor?"
I really did want to distract myself from this. Part of it was because I was pretty sure that I was attracted to Sara because of the history that I had. I didn't know how this would affect my relationship with Courtney and I was a little scared. I also wanted to do whatever I could to stop her from dying. I knew that she had come back, but I just didn't want her to die again. I had lost her so many times already, and I really didn't want to lose her again, even if it was temporary.
"I've talked to some of my contacts. I've been trying to figure out who has been supplying him with his weapons." Iris explained. That was as important as stopping him because I knew that they could supply someone her. "You know if you don't talk to us about this stuff, we won't be able to help you."
If there was one thing about the island that I wanted to know, it was the stuff that happened with Sara. It was probably the most impactful thing that had happened because it had directly impacted my future. I wanted to know if Shado had still died and Slade had still taken Mirakuru. I wanted to know if I would still be facing off against Slade and would have to save the city from him. According to Sara, it was also related to my powers. Had I gotten them from Mirakuru or was it something else. From what Sara said, her powers didn't manifest until turned 16, which could also explain why I had the scars that I had.
I went to Big Belly Burger because I needed to eat something. I still wasn't the biggest fan of that aspect of my powers. One thing was that I didn't seem to need to eat as Barry because I wasn't burning them as fast as him with his super speed. I still had to eat a lot though. I used bacon as a way to add calories instead of cheese.
Another thing that I couldn't help but wonder was who Iris was talking to. I knew that John had been talking to Lyla. Did that mean that she was talking to Barry? Did Barry have a job with the government or something? I was pretty sure that she wouldn't tell me unfortunately. It would be weird to see Barry wearing a suit, even though I had seen him in them a couple of times. I was still used to him with a more casual look. It would also be weird seeing one of my best friends not having any idea who I am.
Later, I was at work and I found that Sebastian was talking to someone that I did not expect to see in the club.
"Mr. Blood, I see you have met Ms. Crock…who I don't know why she is here." I commented.
"My parents want me to get a job and you're one of the only places that doesn't require me to cook burgers or work a cash register." Artemis declared.
"Well I can't really do an interview right now because I have another appointment." I pointed out. "If you don't mind waiting, I can talk to you later."
"Why did you ask me to meet you?" Sebastian asked me.
"You and I have gotten off on the wrong foot repeatedly." I remarked.
"That seems to be your superpower." He replied.
"I thought about what you said about gun violence and I wanted to sponsor a cash for guns initiative. I can give you the money and you will get your constituents to lay down your arms." I told him.
"Is your daddy going to help you repair your family's tainted name by ridding the Glades of guns?" Sebastian asked.
"I never said that my family's name would be involved. You would just get the money." I responded.
"Let me think it over." He replied.
At that point, he left and then I went over to Artemis. I knew that I had a lot of power in the situation, but I didn't want to abuse it just because she was mean to me at school. I still decided to be formal about it.
"Miss Crock, come into my office." I remarked. She walked in and I couldn't help but wonder what was going through her mind. "So I'm already guessing that you don't have any experience. So tell me. Why should I hire you? Also what are you applying for?"
"I can kick a lot of ass so I think that I would be great as a bouncer." She remarked.
"My bouncers are highly trained." I explained. "It's one of the only jobs that I hire based on experience. "What makes you think that you can do that? It's not just beating people up. It's about conflict management and dealing with difficult customers. What I need is waitresses if you think you can handle that."
"I don't know if that's something that I want." She replied. "I'm surprised that you didn't just immediately kick me out."
"I'm not going to not hire you based on how you've acted at school." I declared. "I think that you have an attitude problem but I'm willing to give you a chance."
Later that night, I went downstairs because while I knew where The Mayor was and what he was capable of, I didn't quite know where to find him and I also wasn't quite sure whether or not my offer to Sebastian would go through. I was still hoping that I could turn him away from Slade before it was too late, but first I would have to know if he was working for Slade.
"I need some good news." I declared.
"Well I'm going to start with the bad news first." Iris stated. I was a little annoyed by that but I supposed it was something that needed to be said. "Somehow The Mayor did get his hands on a crate of stolen military weapons."
"And I'm hoping that this comes with good news." I stated as I looked back over at them. I was pretty sure that there was good news.
"Well if he still has the crate, we can track it." Mia pointed out. "But we think that The Mayor might have disabled it."
"I don't really see how this qualifies as good news." I pointed out.
"Well there is good news because the tracking system was developed by Queen Consolidated and I was able to find the original schematics. The beacon can still be found even if it's been deactivated." Mia explained. She really did take after Felicity. "In other words, even though he turned it off, we can turn it back on."
She managed to do that and we got a signal. It would be very helpful in finding him. I knew it wouldn't be long before he noticed that it was on again, so I would have to go quickly. I was just taking Courtney with me because I needed Mia to watch the signal just in case the location moved.
They were currently taking refuge in an old restaurant that had been fitted with a stripper pole. I started to fire some arrows and that was when the bullets started to fly. Courtney was able to use her staff to shoot them out of the air. I was pretty sure that they realized that they were overmatched because they decided to quickly retreat. The good news was we were able to at least secure most of the weapons.
"So the weapons are secure." I said over the comms.
"What about The Mayor?" Iris asked.
"He's kind of still in office." Courtney answered. "Well not his office, but he got away."
At that point, I got a call from Tommy.
"So we have a bit of a problem." He told me. He sounded like he was a little drunk. "So Dinah and I got dinner and she said that she was okay to drive, but we got pulled over."
"Is everyone okay?" I questioned.
"Yeah and the good news is because her dad's a cop, we were able to not get arrested, but I have a feeling if this happens again we won't be so lucky." He explained.
"Well I'm glad that you two are alright." I remarked. I kind of wanted to do something about her alcoholism but I wasn't sure how much time I had to devote to something like that. "Also, I need you to please take a cab home."
The next day, I was just about to open up the club, which I was doing by myself since I had to deal with some deliveries, when I spotted someone. She in my more regular clothes.
"Come inside." I told her as we headed inside.
"Did you tell my family that I'm alive?" She asked.
"No." I answered. "I may not understand why, but for some reason you don't want them to know and I'm going to respect your wishes. Sara, I saw you get washed away. I want to know how you are standing here right now."
"We both know that dying isn't really our thing." She quipped. "So, what happened to Slade?"
"How about you tell me where you've been first?" I challenged.
"I've been everywhere." She answered. I knew what it meant. She had traveled the world with the League of Assassins.
"That's not an answer." I stated.
"Well it's the only answer that I'm going to give you right now." She declared. "You know a little more than a year ago, I started to hear tales of the Star City Vigilante. Robyn Hood was what they called her. I knew it was you."
"Well where did you learn how to fight?" I inquired. She kept giving me these non-answers and it was kind of irritating. "Sara, why did you come back here?"
"I heard about the earthquake." She told me.
"Well I can see that you wanted to see that your family was safe, but you're also still here." I stated. "You're trying to protect them. So did you come here to make sure that I didn't tell them or because you were hoping that I had?"
At that point, there was a knock on the door. I opened it to see it was Quentin.
"Detective, is there something that I can help you with?" I asked.
"It's about my daughter." He replied. I was pretty sure I knew which one he was talking about. "Dinah isn't doing well. She got pulled over for a DUI. Now this is probably something that I should be talking to her boyfriend about, but I'm not sure if he sees the big issue."
"She was at my house the other night. She didn't seem like herself." I remarked. "I'm just a little confused why you're talking to me about it. I don't have a lot of experience with drinking."
"I'm going to ignore you saying that you have any." He quipped. "The thing is I think that you're someone who can get through to her. Do you think you can talk to her?"
"Yeah, I can try." I agreed before I went back inside and noticed that Sara was gone. I wasn't surprised by that, even though I was hoping that she would tell him.
So the following day, I called her and told her that I wanted to talk to her. I wanted to do it somewhere in public because I felt like it needed to be done.
"What are we doing here? Is everything okay?" She asked me.
"I don't know. You tell me." I declared. "Is everything okay?"
"You've gotta be kidding me? My dad talked to you, didn't he?" She challenged. "I can't believe that she went to you. He spent the last year cursing your name and even arrested you for murder, and now the two of you are friends or something?"
"Dinah, he's worried about you." I pointed out.
"So what now I've got a recovering alcohol and a teenager trying to tell me how to live my life?" She retorted. "This is none of your business, Olivia."
"It is my business because I care about you and you're dating my brother." I reminded her.
"You have no idea how many times I've had to pull my dad out of a bar." She remarked. Quentin's alcoholism didn't really serve as an excuse for her own. It was a reason for it, but not an excuse. "He's the one with the problem. Just because he hasn't been able to cope with losing Sara doesn't mean that I don't know how to control my life. Tell him that I don't need his help."
Part of me thought that I needed to talk to Tommy about it. I wasn't entirely sure what to say to him. I wasn't sure of the best way to tell someone that their partner was struggling with alcoholism. One thing that I thought about was telling him not to propose to her, but I wasn't sure if that was a good idea. I needed him to see that she had a problem and I wasn't entirely sure what the best way to go about doing that was. I wished that I knew more about dealing with addiction because then I would be able to talk about it better.
One thing that I decided to do was check out how the Cash for Guns thing was going and I found that it was a bit of a success. People were actually selling their guns and that was something that I was thankful for. Well that was at least something that I could be happy about. Unfortunately, I knew that my happiness would be short-lived because I knew that The Mayor was still at-large.
"Well look who decided to show up here." A voice remarked and I turned to see Sin was there. Was I going to have repeated interactions with her now? "No hat this time?"
You know one thing that I couldn't help but wonder was if she and Sara were in a relationship. She was obviously too young for that before, but now that age difference wasn't there anymore. In fact, it was possible that Sin was actually older now because I wasn't sure how old she was.
"Is there a problem here?' Emiko questioned. I hadn't known that she was there.
"Well are you going to introduce me to your girlfriend?" Sin taunted. I wanted to throw up when she said that.
"This is Emiko. She's my sister." I remarked.
"Well sorry, your highness. She just doesn't really look like you." Sin quipped before she walked away.
"So you don't show up when you will say you will but now here you are when you said that you wouldn't." Sebastian remarked.
"This is my sister Emiko." I introduced.
"She's not the only bastard in the family." Emiko replied. She really didn't need to say that.
"So how is this going?" I inquired.
"We've taken in over 200 guns in only three hours. I have to say that this was a good idea." He complimented. "You know I expected a little more of a smile."
"There's a lot on my mind, Alderman." I remarked.
"Well I have some people that close to me having a tough time." I admitted. "They're actually sisters and neither one of them is making it very easy for me to help them."
"How did I not know about this?" Emiko questioned. She was probably wondering who I was talking about. I was beginning to wonder if I would have to tell her who I was soon, but I knew that I wanted to
"Sooner or later, we all go through a crucible." Sebastian stated. "I'm guessing yours was that island. Most people believe there are two types of people who go into a crucible: the ones who grow stronger from that experience and survive it, and the ones who die. But there's a third type: the ones who learn to love the fire. They choose to stay in the crucible and embrace the pain because it's all that they know anymore. That's why I'm on the clock to help this city, before it comes used to living like this. Hopefully it works."
You know I was pretty sure that he could be a good politician if he didn't sell his soul to the devil.
"Living is not for the weak." I agreed. He looked at me. "An old friend of mine once told me that."
"You have a wise friend." He commented.
At that point, The Mayor arrived in a jeep and started shooting. He was not happy about the event going on. He seemed to actually think that he was the mayor of the Glades. It seemed like he had a bit of a god complex and he needed psychological help.
"You're not the leader of this community!" Sebastian argued. "You don't speak for these people."
"And neither do you." The Mayor replied. At that point, they opened fire and I quickly got both of them to safety. A few people were killed. I also really hated that the news wouldn't call it an act of terrorism. Just because he was an American didn't mean that The Mayor wasn't a terrorist.
After the dust settled, I went to the club to talk to my team.
"He finally decided to show his face." I remarked. "Now that is going to cost him, I can run some facial recognition on him…and I've got a match."
"Xavier Reed." Courtney read. "So does this guy have military training?"
"No." I answered. "He doesn't have a family either."
"He's been in and out of foster care his whole life." Mia added. "Hold up he has a foster brother who was in the military."
"That must be how he got those weapons." Iris declared.
"Yes and he's also assigned to a weapons convoy that carries weapons by truck…and it's scheduled to come through Star City tonight." Mia explained. "It looks like we know how we're going to be spending our evening."
At that point, I noticed that I got a call from Emiko.
"So I just found out that your friend with the black hair got shot." She stated.
"Is she okay?" I asked.
"I don't know yet." She admitted. "Also Katie's not coming in tonight."
"Damn it." I stated. "I really can't cover the floor tonight. Can you call that girl that I interviewed a few days ago and see if she can come in tonight?"
I then hung up and looked to Courtney.
"So I need you to train Artemis on the floor tonight." I told her.
"You hired Artemis Crock?" Courtney asked in disbelief. "Are you crazy? She hates you?"
"I'm not going to let how she acts in school dissuade me from hiring what could be a good employee." I stated. "I'm gonna keep her on a short leash."
At that point, Mia and I headed to the hospital because I knew that Sara would be there.
"So we need your help. I want to see how you hold your own in a real fight." I stated.
"I can't wait." Sara responded.
The three of us went to the location of the convoy where The Mayor and his gang were. We started to deal with the gang members first before we went for the crooked soldiers and finally The Mayor.
"Look out behind you." Sara stated.
"You use old school weapons and I have to respect that, but can your arrows do this?" He asked before he fired. At that point, Sara screamed out, causing the grenade to explode…which knocked us all back. I saw her bo staff and started to fight with it before she fired my bow.
"I'll stick to my own weapon." Mia commented. At that point, Sara snuck up on the mayor and grabbed him with intent to kill.
"Let him go." I ordered.
"You can't save a city with forgiveness." Sara argued.
"You don't have to forgive him. You need to let him live." I explained.
"I knew you bitches didn't have it in you." The Mayor declared before Sara knocked him out.
"I'm not a fan of that word." Sara replied.
The following day, I was at school watching the news on my phone when Artemis came up to me.
"I can't believe you didn't want people to know that you funded that." She replied. "What's with the hero thing?"
"I'm not a hero." I told her.
"Well thank you for the job." She remarked. "Now if you excuse me, I need to see someone in the hospital."
I went to the Glades hospital, which was doing better now that it was getting supplies and found that Emiko was there.
"Is she okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, she's awake now." She declared as the two of us went to her room. "So you never did tell me how you know her."
"She's a friend of a friend." I explained, even though I didn't think she knew that I knew about Sara. I also told Sin that her bills were paid for.
At that point, I saw Sara in the hallway and walked after her.
"What is your plan, Sara? Are you just going to watch over your family like some kind of ghost?" I asked her.
"We're both ghosts, Livvy." She argued. "We died when that boat went down."
"No we didn't. We survived." I told her. "Now you can keep living in that pain or you can come home. You say the quake brought you here but your family kept you here. You have to tell them, Sara. They need you."
She took my hand and we walked out together.
"So there's one more thing. I don't really remember what happened on the island. Do you think you can help fill me in?" I requested.
"I can tell you all that I know. The first time we reconnected was on Ivo's ship." She stated.
So Sara is going to help explain what happened with the island while she was there. Also, Tommy and Dinah may be headed towards a rough patch. Finally, we may have a love triangle forming with Sara. Please don't forget to review.
